Well I believe contractors also have their share of the blame as well as the consultants. Each of them are professionals in their sphere. The contractor has ethical standards guiding his profession. Also, consultants are professionals in the same industry having ethical guidelines. Why can't they comply with their ethics.

Yes it's morally right for contractor to reject any bargaining that will dent his professional integrity but which job would you execute in Nigeria of today without exchanging envelope with those who call you for the job? When an expert specifies 16mm steel rod for instance, for casting column, an average Nigerian will use 10mm rod for it just to cut costs. Where the soil requires piling they will use ordinary foundation to avoid costs.

What about the steel companies producing substandard building materials; are they being monitored? Nigerian government are woeful when it comes to monitoring.

Most taskforce dispatch for this only go there to take bribe and leave their job undone. For this reason many factories that should be closed down are operating everyday.

Economic hardship has made clients not to hire professionals. They would rather employ local quack developers for their projects in order to reduce costs. In the end it collapses claiming innocent lives.

Why can't we force people to employ the service of architects and structural engineers especially when complex projects are involved? What's Nigerian Institute of Architecture doing there.

We die everyday in Nigeria for avoidable negligence and this is a sad reflection of the status of this country.

Contractors are never to be blamed in executing bad projects. Big projects always require the consultant team from the part of clients and when consultants and government officials in the case of government jobs decide to use straw and draw every profit margin on the job, why won't contractor use Y10 in place of Y16? CORRUPTION is our biggest problem here and indiscipline atmosphere created by our democratic rule has increased it the more.
Every contractor is bound to do the right thing if not disturbed illegally and the client or his consultant team has every right to force him to execute good job at any time based on agreement reached but corruption is killing people in building

The truth is that if start now and get someone to manage it for you, the person won't do it well like you will do it but a time you come when u will be convinced urself to drop ur salary job and fully takeover urself. By that time, that manager I've engaged won't be happy with you because the money is getting illegal from ur business will stop (if he's not faithful) and he will complain u take over after he has stabilized ur business for you.

I want to compare with my current job to decide on whether to attend the CBT or not. I am currently a non-academic staff at Admiralty University of Nigeria.

The pay is better than the best salary any FG university will pay you as non-academic staff. The challenge is that WAEC job is very competitive and not easy to get.
