No worries! Upgrading from Windows 7 or 8/8.1 will preserve your personal files, applications and settings; including the games you have had since the 1990s .

Your files, apps and settings are save. i am currently using the technical preview and i did not loose anything. The ads can anything, it may be google ads(AdSense), it may be an affiliate link or if you have a very huge traffic you can be reached by companies like glo, Mtn, Milo etc. To place their ads on your blog or website.

It's easy, launch a blog on what you know well, drive traffic to it and place ads on it.
