Those of you who are being harsh on the boy should be prepared to be harsh too when a 20-year-old girl defiles a 9-year-old boy and the story manages to hit the news. Don't come here trivialising it when the table turns.

A friend of mine only gets attracted to sugar mummies cos he was defiled by a 21-yr-old relative of his when he was 8 and is presently married to his "mother" if you know what I mean. And this sort of defilement is sth that occurs everywhere but people hardly notice cos amongst a host of otger reasons, bleeding doesn't take place after the act.

When a girl is a victim, a lot of harsh things are said but when it's a boy, reverse is the case. SMH.

I don't understand Nairaland moderators anymore. They usually move posts with unclothed bodies to front page every now and then, so since they seem to have thrown decency to the wind, I decided to follow their lead; this morning I posted Kim K in a bikini and the next minute, the post was hidden.
Is this not a case of double standards?

Pls help me check out the pic I posted and compare it with Serena's pic that was moved to front page for everyone to see and hit on "like" if I was right to post it or hit "share" if the moderator was right to remove it.

Education38 Nigerian Universities Increase Tuition Fees, Blames Buhari’s Govt by dickt(op): 4:16pm On Jun 27, 2017
No fewer than 38 universities across the country have increased their tuition fees as a result of poor funding by the Federal and State governments.
The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan Chapter, Dr. Deji Omole, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday. The statement which assessed the two years of President Muhammadu Buhari in office, lamented that the current government had made Nigerians poorer. Omole said that the public education was not taken seriously because most children of the rich and those in high offices do not attend school in Nigeria. “The latest increment might be attributed to poor funding by the federal and state governments as ASUU poorly rated the President Muhammadu Buhari in the area of funding of university education. ASUU also noted that it would be difficult for any Nigeria university to effectively compete globally with the inadequate allocation of budgetary funding as prescribed by UNESCO to fund education. University of Lagos (UNILAG) which was paying N14, 500 would now pay N63, 500 as tuition fees.

HealthMosquitoes Are Our Friends, Stop Killing Them - UNILORIN Professor by dickt(op): 6:03pm On Jun 06, 2017
A Professor of Entomology at the University of Ilorin, Adeolu Ande, has decried killing mosquitoes, saying the insects are friends to humans that deserved to be properly managed.

Ande made the statement on Monday in Ilorin in a paper he presented at a public seminar organised by the university.

In his paper with the title “Consider the ways of Ants and be Wise,” the entomologist described insects as the “most successful and influential group’’ of organisms in the biosphere.

He said that humans had a lot to learn from insects in order to be wise.

“Human life is beset with inevitable associations with insects that have over the years influenced human destiny positively and negatively.

“Negative influences, such as disease transmission, crop losses, food spoilage, economic losses and nuisance value caused by less than 5 per cent of insect species have been exaggerated by man.

He said that positive influences of insects are not unappreciated and downplayed.

He listed some of them to include: pollination of flowers, waste recycling and sustenance of the ecosystem.

Others, he said, include source of silk, shellac, cochineal, therapeutic agents, aesthetics, biological control agents and food source.

The don said that man deliberately misunderstood the role of mosquitoes and frequently described them as causing the diseases they transmit.

He said: “in the actual sense, mosquitoes are equally sick but inadvertently and unwillingly convey pathogens that are the real causal agents of these diseases.

“The female mosquito could be described as an example of a true mother who is forced to undertake suicide mission in its bid to provide for its unborn children.

“The adult female mosquitoes have exceptional value for child raising hence the level of commitment and risk they take on the mission that entails decision between life and death.

“The after effect of this commitment is a well thought out plan that forestalls most of the factors that may stand in the way of raising good children.

“I am sure most human females will not take comparable decision in the face of similar attendant risks.

“It is however certain that children born after well thought out and risky conditions are better posited for quality living than those produced carelessly.

Ande said that mosquitoes had proved over the years that they are our friends and allies, adding that if we like them or not, they would exist and continue to source blood from humans.

The professor called for improvement in Zoology curriculum to ensure better focus on organisms that feature prominently around man.

He said that zoologists were expected to be the foster parents of animals in the Zoo, adding that they should be familiar with their needs and their health status.

Foreign AffairsOsama Bin Laden's Wife Makes Stunning Revelation On Osama's Death by dickt(op): 11:11am On May 24, 2017
Osama bin Laden’s youngest wife has opened up on what happened the night the terrorist was killed by the United States of America.

The family of Osama bin Laden has spoken out for the first time about what it was like to watch the 9/11 mastermind and al-Qaeda terrorist die in a hail of US military gunfire.

Amal bin Laden, the fourth and youngest wife of the man who was at the top of the US’s most wanted list for over a decade, has recounted the story of the night he died at the hands of SEAL special forces.

She and their six children lived in their ‘safe house’ in the mountains of Abbottabad in Pakistan when bin Ladin was killed on May 11, 2011.

Amal bin Laden told the story of the night to Cathy Scott-Clarke and Adrian Levy for their book The Exile: The Flight of Osama bin Laden, which has been excerpted in the Sunday Times UK.

Along with Amal bin Laden and her children, also living in the house was bin Laden’s second wife Khairiah and third wife Seham and son Khalid, 22.

First wife Najwa had married him as a teen and bore him 11 children, but left him two days before the 9/11 attacks.

By 11pm on May 1, 2011, after dinner, the dishes, and prayer, bin Laden was fast asleep while his fourth wife lie next to him.

Outside, the streets were dark due to an electricity shortage, something that was a common occurrence in the area, but Amal awoke uneasily just past midnight.

She heard a chop chop chop sound and thought she saw shadows dancing on the windows.

Bin Laden sat up, looking frightened.

‘Americans are coming,’ he said, panting. Then there was a loud screeching noise and the house rocked.

The white compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, where Osama bin Laden met his end by American special forces

The pair clutched at each other and crept to the balcony.

‘It was a moonless night and difficult to see,’ Amal said.

On the lawn, out of their sight, were two US military Black Hawks, and 24 SEALs were stealthily rushing over the lawn and towards the compound.

Up on the second floor balcony, Seham and Khalid could see the Americans approaching.

Bin Laden called to his son to come to him and, still in his pajamas, Khalid grabbed an AK-47, which Amal knew he hadn’t fired since he was 13.

Amal and Seham comforted the children, who were crying. They all went to the top floor and huddled.

They heard a blast as the SEALs blew off the gate to the house.

‘They want me, not you,’ bin Laden finally said, telling his family to go downstairs. But oldest daughters Miriam and Sumaiya hid on the balcony while Seham and son Khalid went downstairs.

Upstairs, Amal, bin Laden and their young son Hussein remained in the room and prayed. Amal said she realized someone within their inner circle had betrayed them.

The SEALs were now in a hallway and blasted a locked door before heading upwards.

One of the forces members, who spoke Arabic and knew what Khalid looked like, called to him, and when Khalid glanced over the balcony, he was shot.

Sumaiya and Miriam rushed the SEALs but they were quickly flicked against a wall by the Arabic-speaking man.

SEAL Robert O’Neill walked past them and entered the room. Amal was in front of her husband. She rushed O’Neill and was shot by someone as other SEALs entered the room.

Amal felt pain tear through her leg and she collapsed onto the bed and passed out.

O’Neill would later describe shooting bin Laden, and thinking ‘He’s going down’.

More SEALS crashed into the room and fired rounds into bin Laden.

Meanwhile, Amal said she awoke but knew she had to play dead. She closed her eyes and tried to slow her breathing.

Little Hussein, who had witnessed everything, was grabbed by a SEAL, and water was thrown in his face, according to Amal.

She remained motionless as Miram and Sumaiya were grabbed by the forces and held over the bodies of their father, and voices demanded that they make an identification.

At first Miriam gave a fake name, but Sumaiya said ‘Tell them the truth, they are not Pakastanis’.

‘My father,’ Miriam said. ‘Osama bin Laden.’

Safiyah, then 11, was hiding on the balcony when he was also grabbed by a SEAL and told to make an identification. Safiyah was crying hysterically but told the men it was her father.

Khairiah, who was in the hallway, was also grabbed by a SEAL. ‘Stop f***ing with me,’ the SEAL yelled, according to the account. ‘Who’s that?’

‘Osama,’ she murmured.

‘Hey, dual confirmation,’ the Arabic-speaking SEAL said. ‘Confirmed it with the kid. Confirmed it with the old lady.’

The special forces then dragged bin Laden down the stairs, leaving his head to bump along them.

Khalid was dead on the staircase, and his mother tried to kiss him, but she was pulled away.

The SEALs put the terrorist’s body in one helicopter.

Back in the room, Amal clutched the trembling young Hussein and listened to the American military men blow up the remaining Black Hawk.

A few minutes later, she heard the screaming of neighbors as they asked who was still alive.

Car TalkRe: Top 8 Most Fuel Efficient Cars by dickt(m): 10:12am On Apr 23, 2017
Yarnvibes:
We all know Nigeria’s erratic fuel price situation – one moment it’s up and the next it’s down. The current removal of fuel subsidy has helped stabilize the price a bit, but it’s still on the high side compared to the low prices we once enjoyed. At this point, fuel efficient cars are more or less a blessing to Nigerians. Jumia Travel , the leading online travel agency shares 8 of the most fuel efficient cars to consider the next time you’re in the car market.

Hyundai Sonata
This is a comfortable ride with great rear-seat room. It’s affordable and has a sound and responsive handling. It has an estimated fuel economy rating is within the range of about 8.5 kilometers per liter to about 13.9 Km/L.

Toyota Camry
Regardless of your reservations about Toyota cars, one thing you have to admit is that they deliver most of what consumers want in a midsized car. It is comfortable to drive, cheaper and easier to maintain than other car brands. The Toyota Camry offers a kind of ‘no-fuss’ driving experience with sound handling and a roomy and comfortable interior that makes it a pleasant car to drive. Its estimated fuel economy within the range of about 9.8 Km/L to about 13.6 Km/L.

Mitsubishi Mirage
This is another affordable car with an inviting image of economy and thriftiness. However, the vehicle still deals with issues of sluggish acceleration, a not-so-good handling and a not so powerful engine. Nevertheless, the car is reasonably roomy, cheap and economical. Its estimated fuel economy within the range of about 11.2 Km/L to about 17.3 Km/L.

Toyota Rav4
This SUV provides a strong blend of fuel efficiency, comfort, roominess and reliability. It’s a great family car with sound handling, quiet with a commendable performance. It has an estimate fuel economy range of about 12.75 Km/L to about 15.73 Km/L.

Toyota Corolla
The Corolla provides a comfortable experience for drivers. It’s quiet and spacious with a secure and reasonably sound handling. It also has a roomy interior and one of the roomiest rear seats. Its estimated fuel economy range is from about 10.00 Km/L to about 13.7 Km/L.

Kia Forte
With a generous and comfortable interior room and an engine similar to Hyundai Elantra, the ride has a secure but not very agile handling. It’s also fairly absorbent, tending to feel a bit to tender when encountering sharp bumps, but it has a great engine with logically arranged controls. Its estimate fuel economy rating is within the range of about 10.7 Km/L to about 14.5 Km/L.

Mazda3
This is a fun to drive car with a perky handling and great engine. It is one of the most fuel efficient cars and offers some luxury features that are rare for compact cars in its category, although it’s not particularly as roomy as the others but it’s still very ok. Its estimated fuel economy range is from about 10.6 Km/L to about 13.9 Km/L.

Honda Civic
This car delivers great fuel economy, is comfortable with precise handling, a spacious interior but unfortunately not the most reliable car out there. It’s however capable and refined with a reasonably powerful engine. Its estimated fuel economy range is from about 12.3 Km/L to about 13.9 Km/L.
