Whats this thread about really!?? ![]() One match thread about WHAT ![]() Don't get it?, and you expect people to contribute?? ![]() |
HEY , manmustwac, am suprised you don't know Palacios!!! You should watch other teams play and not just focus on your team, Identify the good ones and appreciate them even if they play in League 1 OR the Championship!! lol! Oh well,, we scrapped through, Phew! 'Ol 'arry had this to say about the guys in ONE word: Wack!!!! Our players play too much fine-boy soccer and sometimes just switch off, we need a total overhaul of the our mentality OR we aint going nowhere!!!!!!!!!! Dunno whats gonna happen, am getting a bit lethargic just thinking about it all!!!! , I have nothing to say anymore!! |
What is wrong with Us? 1. The squad in not balanced, No steel in midfield & defence; Too many soft flair players; No clear team leader. 2. Tottenham has always been extremely guilty of player turnover!! Everytime we play a Premiership team I see 1-4 ex Spurs players in such teams. So we tend to have a great lack of consistency, that has to stop! 3. The Spurs board is VERY astute with business dealings that tends to favour the clubs finances, but always detrimental to the team as a whole in terms of performance. 4. The turnover of managers is also bad, no long term plans can be made with this concurrent situation! SOLUTION: ![]() i. Stick with Rednapp through thick and thin. ii. Sell once and for all the players you deem ineffective; promote the Bostocks, Obika's etc from the youth team (see Man Utd's example), iii. Add steel at the back and middle of the field! , Appiah-like steel I mean. iv. Once and for all name a veteran captain, Ledley King is a part-time Captain due to his injury woes! v. Reduce the amount of players that come and go (The Man Utd example), reduce turnover!!!!!!! vi. Build a cohesive unit and stop the 'Top 4' yearly aspirations year after year!! This reduces the pressure put on the team every season, Dont talk, just listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then see what happens, ![]() |
Hey you guys calm down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We lost, we arent very good in the Premiership, better with the Cup competitions, We don't have the depth, the 'win-ugly metality' and too many soft flair players NOT rugged enough! Anyway, Ol 'Arry always maintained that the squad he inherited was thin and was not balanced. We will always struggle this season, I hope we add some steel before the transfer window closes!!!!!!! ![]() |
Hey Manmustwac, how you dey? Definitely going to Wembley we are , Wigan on Sunday? Jermain Defoe is going to play on that day and he has a record of scoring on his debut for every club he's been at, so expect one from him (again!!) He's also eligible actually to play the Carling Cup cos he was an unused sub when Pompy crashed out!! Wigan prediction We win against them again, like we did the double on Liverpool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JERMAIN IS BACK AT WHITE HART LANE, THATS A GOOD ONE, AND WE PUT A GOOD SHOW IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE MATCH LAST NIGHT AGAINST BURNLEY, SO ANOTHER CARLING CUP FINAL BECKONS FOR US, GOOD SHOW!! |
HA! Anyway , we lost to Newcastle (as usual), oh well, the goal was good, Now the tough Xmas schedule, WE NEED NEW PLAYERS IN JANUARY!!! |
Mukina!! U dey use Juju? How come u know say I go get Sallah meat? Anyway, come the spurs lounge for Lagos and u go get! Lol! How all you guys dey, am on leave chilling, we play in the UEFA cup tonite, any comments? |
ACTUALLY IT'S NOT NEW AT ALL, JUST A PARTICULAR STYLE THAT IS NOT FREQUENTLY USED, KUDOS TO THE GIRLS THOUGH, |
Mukina?? Suprised, not really, the expression was more of ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway we qualified for the semi-finals of the Carling Cup last night with Man Utd also going through, 2-1, against fellow London club Watford we won. Now the draws for the semi-finals, Burnley (who beat Fulham, Chelsea & Arsenal), Derby, Man Utd and Spurs, It could be a Premiership Club versus a Championship club or a Premiership/Championship final at the end of the day, I hope we get Derby though, they are still struggling in the Championship in 15th place!! lol! Anyway our next match is against West Ham, sigh!!!!!!!, Another London derby with a struggling side! Don't like, anyway lets see what happens at Upton Park, 'Ol Arry might have a trick to show his ol' team! |
Hey !! We lost! Good show by the Gooners (though the 1st goal was clearly offside), but a WIN is a WIN and against Chelsea, a good win! Next match, think Carling cup against Watford, 3rd December 2008, 8.30 Naija time, The fixtures are piling up for the December period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Yep we won and it was quite easy, Obika and Mason also played late, Next Match is with Everton, dunno about this cos they are smarting right now and are one of those teams that will really test us, Season seems to be getting better!!!! |
Hey A-40, well you guys JUST won, dunno if the situation is dire yet, but I still am not sure of Arsenals balance (There's still something amiss), Oh, well back to my LilyWhites!! ![]() We play NEC today in Holland, No King, Modric,Giovanni, Gilberto,Corluka, Pavlyuchenko, Hutton, some injured, some cup tied, NOt READ THIS: ![]() With Roman Pavlyuchenko and Vedran Corluka cup-tied and other injured, Harry Redknapp has picked a youthful squad. Chris Gunter has been tipped to start, while youngsters John Bostock, Adam Smith, Yaser Kasim, John Obika and Ryan Mason have all travelled to Holland. ![]() I have actually been following the youth team and there have been rave reviews about Yaser Kasim (Midfielder, Iraqi) and John Obika (Striker, Naija boy), Adam Smith (English) is a DEFENDER, while Ryan Mason (English) is a MIDFIELDER, John Bostock is all known to us,, and really, I am loving 'Ol Arry more and more and more, (I always thought he was a top manager actually), You have to mix youth, with experience and give the hungrier lads a chance! They most likely will not play but mixing them with the MEN is the way forward, look at the West Ham team he coached with: Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Trevor Sinclair, Freddy Kanoute, Shaka Hislop, Rio Ferdinard, Jermain Defoe,Micahel Carrick etc, most of them were and are still top stars as we speak. Believe me'Ol Arry may look like he's just left the Pub, but he is the best manager weve had in ages!! ![]() On the other hand, If you're wondering how come the 'RAMOS REJECTS" aren't playing, i.e. (Boateng, Stalteri, Ghaly, Rocha & Taarabt), they weren't registered for Europe, pity this could have been a good opportunity to see them play after a LONG time! I hope one of them is involved on Sunday though, I miss Ghaly somewhat, ![]() PS> Arsenal. take a cue from this!! Tell your PROF to buy some MEN to mix with your amazing BOYS, Then no team will ever come near you !!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Hey Manmustwac, you dey town? U are roaming your phone? Ok, I'll save your number and call u for the Everton Match, Sunday 4.00pm, I'll actually call another friend of mine who is a Spurs guy and we can hook up and watch it over some drinks! Hey A-40 don't dispair, you gooners will come back, but you need a permanent solution to this stuttering, as an Arsenal buff said: the problems of Arsenal actually began when you guys pipped US on the last day of the 2005/06 season, Wenger needs to change his formula just slightly OR>>> ![]() ![]() |
Hello Peeps, Yes we won , AGAIN!, moved up the table to 15th and things seem to be cruising at the moment, Aaron Lennon was a handful on the right, anyway, Positives: No goal conceeded! Phew! Arsenal? I think they are in crises, Its not that they won't win or bounce back with wins, but the problem with the team is the managers belief in a young squad with no balance with a few veterans, he even let the veterans go, EG. Gilberto, Anyway, I focus less on others, good show Lilywhites! |
I THINK HE'S VERY TALENTED , I WATCHED HIM PLAY A FEW MAN UTD MATCHES AND AVE WATCHED HIM PLAY WITH SPURS. WITH MORE MATCHES HE WILL GROW UP TO BE A MAJOR TALENT, BUT THE QUESTION IS WILL MAN UTD SELL? NOT SO SURE ABOUT THAT, BUT THEN AGAIN WITH A PRICE OF 7-10 MILLION AND AN ARRAY OF TOP STRIKERS IN MAN UTD (EVEN TEVEZ DOES NOT GET A PLACE), THEY MAY JUST CASH IN, THEN AGAIN, WE HAVE TO MOVE COMPLETELY AWAY FROM THE 'TOO BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE OF BUYING & SELLING PLAYERS', DAMN IT, AM TIRED OF PLAYING OTHER PREMIERSHIP TEAMS AND COUNTING ALL OUR EX-PLAYERS EG. AGAINST FULHAM, WE HAD EX-PLAYERS!!: DANNY MURPHY (2006-2007), BOBBY ZAMORA (2003-2004), SIMON DAVIS (2000-2005) AND PAUL KONCHESKY (2003)!! IT'S ANNOYING!! THESE EX'S ALWAYS HAVE A VENDETTA AGAINST A TEAM THAT DIDNT TREAT THEM TOO WELL!! OH WELL, I DONT THINK WE HAVE ANY IN BLACKBURN!!!!! LOL!! HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND! ![]() |
Redknapp is interested in taking Frazier Campbell permanently , any thoughts? |
Hey my good peeps, .Mukina, A-40, Po Deep and not forgetting my guy Manmustwac, Na wah o!!!! OK, we lost to Fulham. They played well and we didn't, Curiously, I was thinking last week that if I were Gomes, I would ask to be dropped for a while to gain my confidence. He's an extremely good shot-stopper no doubt, but his frailties (crosses, corners, close balls and indecision at all this) has cost us greatly. He's very good with long range shots and fantastic saves, but needs to work well and ascert himself cos he's such a tall lad, Robbo too had his own shortcomings and was a good keeper until he started his own calamities which got him traded to Blackburnl (he even made one this weekend against Sunderland) , expecially long range shots, but he was good coming out for crosses, they all have some deficiencies somewhere!!!!! Argh!!!!!!!!!!!! I really think Rednapp should do what Ramos did, bench Gomes, Ramos put in Cerny for Robinson and I think Cesar (who was the former Real Madrid keeper before Castillas) should take over, even if temporarily, also Ben Alnwick has been recalled from League One side Carlisle, so my guess is Gomes will sit out soon. This may actually spur a better response from him which may help in the Long run, This is a short term solution though. Long term, there is news that we want Man Utd's Ben Foster on loan as from January. There is also talk of David James but speculation always abound when there is a lil situation at a club, oh well, we wait and see! But realistically we need 2 class keepers, we have 1 shaky one, now we need another top class keeper to shake him to confidence, Look at Newcastle (though in shambles), you sometimes dont even know who's number one between Shay Given & Steve Harper, they even look alike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() There is no crises at hand, Most footballing buffs agree that the Premier League now is the toughest for many years and this is good as NO team is guaranteed of a win. Teams are also SO close in points with LAST PLACE (W.B.A) at 11 points and 10th PLACE (FULHAM) at 17 points , FANTASTIC SEASON! We play Blackburn next, One tough game, they are Physical and we are more sleek than them, dunno what will happen, any comments? ![]() |
Unfortunately you guys lost to us again, and this time it was really bad! Assessment: Your squad is not as talented as I thought. I always felt that you had a large squad and the fringe players will give us a go at it but, that wasn't so!! Benitez should be wary, cos if the main boys get injured who will fill the shoes?, Gerrard, Macherano, Alonso, Torres, Keane, Skrtel, anyway, what happened was simple, Look at Spurs, we did start 7 players, Modric, Woodgate, King, Bent, Assou-Ekottu, Bentley and Jenas, and who played in their place? Campbell, Pavlyuchenko, Dawson, Bale, Zokora, Hutton, O'Hara, do you notice something here? We really dont have a first OR second team, ALL my boys get involved in matches, so they all tend to be tested, That was key, they all play Carling, Premiership, UEFA Cup , so no one was a novice and was jittery, We just lacked confidence at a point which we have back! Dossena was horrible, Hyppia was slow, Cavalieri was confused, Torres was a pedestrian, passes were faulty, the whole team was not together, obviously had no playing time together unlike the Lilywhites plain simple. Someone said we were gonna play with our FIRST TEAM, what first team?, They are all in the first team!!!!!!!!!, Is it O'Hara, Pavlyuchenko, Campbell or Hutton that is not really a starter? Even Kevin Prince-Boateng who has been frozen out for months played for a while! We were more mobile, more cohesive as a unit and that killed Liverpool, Simple, OVER! |
How ya Like me now? We crushed Liverpool, thats the word, Manmustwac., football sometimes is about psychology, did you take 'Ol Arry seriously when he said we were gonna lose? ![]() I definitely didnt, we miixed our team well and Liverpool's second string was nothing to right home about, We are playing with such vibe and vigour like we know to play, top notch, Good show, Now to beat Fulham on Saturday!! Hey Mukina, we Lilywhites never make much noise and we all love our team with passion, yes reasonable passion so I won't go into 'Top 6 or Bottom 6' talk with you, but the truth be told: We are to good to finish in the lower half of the League, its too obvious we have the talent and we are back to scoring goals, I have no time for emotional ridden, down putting banter! lol! ![]() |
Hey Manmustwac , how now? Top six, definitely a reality, The points separating teams are not too much and its highly likely that some teams like Hull will tire out come January! Also, found out Giovani is actually injured and is going for an ankle examination or surgery (if necessary)! , he's not been frozen out by Rednapp, In fact no one has been! Maybe some of our frozen players i.e. Ghaly, Rocha, Boateng, Taraabt etc may play the Carling Cup match tomorrow, |
Ha! How ya like US now?? ![]() Beat Man City, we are in 16th position and if we win the next match, we could go as high as 10th place as Fulham who is there at the moment has 14 points to our 12, The season is turning out to be VERY competitive and everyone including the newly promoted guys have really improved. ![]() Relegation? Poof! All's going well as we work harder to continue this good form! Darren Bent is MY player of the WEEK! NOW! we play Seething Liverpool on Wednesday, A good result is needed to continue our fine form, but the guys have to be alert as Anfield is looking for revenge against a team that gave them their only loss this season! Next Premier League match: Fulham, London Derby, its gonna be good, as usual we have another of our old boys (Danny Murphy) who is actually Fulhams captain on hand to try and wreck our day, I think we will nick this one actually, but a lot depends on Wednesday's result. All in all the week has started brigthly! Let the good times continue!!!!!!!!!!! |
Hiya All: Spurs: 4 , Zagreb: 0, Hat-trick for Darren Bent, 25 yard belter from Huddlestone, what to take home from this? Clean sheet, We didnt even concede a goal and that means we are getting better in defence, Bostock became our youngest ever player at 16 yrs plus, Good show, By the way where is Giovani ? He seems not to be able to get into the squad at the moment and speculation is rife about a trade to Chelsea, Anyway we won and thats very good, morale is extremely high now, Bentley is in sublime form, God Bless 'Ol Arry!!! Our Cockney saviour! lol! Am so happy that our younger ones are getting space in the team, Bostock & Dervite were in the team, good show! Anyway, we play Man City on Sunday, I actually watched the 1981 FA Cup final against Man City (again! This morning!), Ricky Villa scored a brace and a wonderful winner and Garth Crooks also scored, Steve Archibald and Chris Hughton were also in the team, and Ossie Ardiles created the first goal, The final: Spurs 3; Man City 2, can we win again?, on Sunday? Cage Robinho & Benjani?? Lets wait and see coz 3 points will take us out of the bottom 3!!!!!! |
Hi Guys, what do you think we will play today? Any predictions on the match? Things look good, Bostock will be on the bench, frazier may play along bent, Pavlyuchenko & Corluka are cup-tied, Zagreb is topping their League table in Croatia, Verdict? ![]() |
OK, OK, I don come back, and thanks for the good wishes Mukina and to Xsay, thanks for the song! OK, back to the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Won 2 drew 1, u notice weve not lost to any of the top 4 (Though weve not played Man Utd yet), But it's been the little teams that we need to hammer!! OK, Bent & Pavlyuchenko played together, we beat Liverpool , PHEW!! Now we need to beat the smaller teams, morale is apparent and the feel good factor is BACK!! The Lane is alive and we are relishing the joy, BUT, The job is not done yet, we need back to back victories against Man City and then Fulham in our next Premiership matches, though we play Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday , we play a smarting Liverpool in the Carling Cup shortly, good show! We need these tough matches so really test us! Keep breathing Spurs and keep believing, all is NOT won yet, but definitely won't be lost! |
To be honest with you, why are we even considering hosting the U-17 touney?? ![]() Please be aware that these competitions are not even watched in most footballing countries and they are of low significance, (under aged competitions) Please!!!!!!!! Let another nation worry about it and save our nation from more looting as we had in Nigeria 99 and COJA! |
FROM MY PREVIOUS QUOTE, October 22, 2008 Juande Ramos should look down, when I say look down, I mean the guys that have Premier League experience that are languishing in the reserves. YES, there are few guys in the reserves that can make a difference if put back in the team!! They have suffered in the reserves and I think dropping some lilylivered guys may just change the course of events!! Please Bring back Paul Stalteri or Ricardo Rocha in defence!!! Drop Corluka! (his head must still be buzzing at the moment form his clash with Gomes, lol!). Also its obvious King is sublime, but accept the TRUTH, he cannot continue at the top level! Drop someone in the midfield! We need more steel there, so I advice we leave Modric/Giovanni out and put Kevin Prince-Boateng (its not that I particularly like him, But he is a TOUGH / HARD player) or Hossam Ghaly ( I like him, though he's a little hot headed, I think he has learn't his lesson!), we need steel not finesse at this moment! Just win games don't play fine ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are we having a problem up front Oh, Yes we are: drop Pavlychencko!!! He's not ready, make him work out for a while and observe from the bench, then he may be ready, Adel Taraabt played a few games last season and played satisfactorily in our 2-1 loss to Arsenal and he was already a first team player, so why leave him out?? Maybe play Frazier Campbell up front with with Bent, by the way Bent is getting tired expectedly, he has been doing all the scoring!!!!!!Well Juande Ramos is gone and guess what, what I mentioned has been 'approved' by Mr. Rednapp, see below: From, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1081079/Be-warned-Harry-Well-charge-earth-Defoe-Diarra-say-Portsmouth.html Redknapp made a statement on his first day of Tottenham training by giving squad numbers to five players exiled under Juande Ramos. Sportsmail revealed last month that Hossam Ghaly, Adel Taarabt, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Paul Stalteri and Ricardo Rocha had been told by the former Spurs chief that they were excluded from first-team training. Redknapp, who is on a £1million bonus to keep Spurs in the Barclays Premier League, made the dramatic change the moment he arrived for training at Chigwell. Stalteri has been given the No 13 shirt, Ghaly 15, Taarabt 19, Boateng 23 and Rocha 33. Ramos missed it all by excluding these guys, sore point to his managerial abilities, the team needed these guys, please look at this: 1 combative attacking midfielder (Ghaly), 1 striker (Taarabt), 1 very combative/defensive midfielder (Boateng) & 2 very experienced defenders (Stalteri & Rocha), He (Ramos) made the squad thin, he had tested (Premiership tested in fact) players that he could at least 'manage', Poor Chap, guess he's better off with the finesse of La Liga. Well 'Arry is here, and we (thank God) have no Director of football!!! So he will buy the players and trust 'Ol Arry', he will surely pick the right ones, Pompey is actually fretting over Diarra and Defoe as we speak! They want plenty of cash (already!) for Defoe and Diarra, and even Crouch who is also being speculated, Well Defoe & Crouch are former Spurs players so they will be tempted, while Diarra has been coveted for a while now! With 'Arry doing the dealings stability is definitely going to return to our side, it WILL not be instant success as many of our faithfuls may feel, (its time for US to mellow), but we are definitely NOT going to be relegated and a few wins will propel US above the drop zone, We play Arsenal tomorrow and they are on fire at the moment and they have a better head-to-head record against us, so a loss may not be too bad (it may actually chill our always crazy/instant expectations), a draw will maintain our spirit and a win, well , well, well, may actually energize OR over-energize us (AGAIN!), Of course I hope we win cos this is D MATCH! Its die-hard important , Anyway, match day 10? ( I think), our season has really just begun, My high point of this whirlwheel weekend?? 1. 'Arry is around, 2. Glad the rest of the excluded guys are back, Oh Mukina, I have been down for a few days with illness, didn't intend to ever walk away, To Dare Is To Do! |
Watched Chelsea play last nite, heard what Scolari had to say, ' Bottom-line, even if its a ugly, tactical and frustrating, just grind out a win, collect the points not matter what, Spurs should drop the fine play and JUST grind out results! Udinese today?? Am still not convinced, the squad is still the same quacked group! |
Na wah o!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess its the backlash you'll always get when your whole enterprise in in tatters! The businessmen are winning as usual , they are only concerned about the cash, OK , back to the drawing board, Its obvious some players really and I mean really need to be dropped! On a serious note, they aren't THAT ready for the Premier League or lets give the excuse that they aren't fit enough, ![]() We are aware the business side of our club has totally recked our 'lofty' (lol!) ambitions and come on, what do you think you will achieve by selling the fabric of a team?? Can you imagine only Lennon & Dawson remain from the team that came 5th three seasons ago! What a statistic! Damn thats poor!!!!!!!!! Juande Ramos should look down, when I say look down, I mean the guys that have Premier League experience that are languishing in the reserves. Maybe play Frazier Campbell up front with with Bent, by the way Bent is getting tired expectedly, he has been doing all the scoring!!!!!!Then there is Tomas Pekhart (he's on loan actually, but can be recalled) and John Bostock (remember the young player we got from Crystal Palace recently??), look at what Arsenal did with Theo Walcott and now with Ramsey!!!!!!! Give youth a chance, They have the fire and they have NO families/WAGs or hangers on to think about, they still have a LOT to prove, BELIEVE ME TO GET OUT OF THE SPOT WE'RE IN RIGHT NOW, WE MUST PLAY WITH GRIT! NOT WITH FINESSE!! ITS NOT WORKING RIGHT NOW AND RAMOS MUST UNDERSTAND THIS, JUST WIN ONE GAME AND A LOT MIGHT CHANGE OR ELSE, CHAMPIONSHIP HERE WE COME, MY SQUAD: GOMES/SANCHEZ HUTTON----STALTERI/WOODGATE----KING/ROCHA----ASSOU:EKOTTO/GILBERTO BENTLEY----JENAS----ZOKORA/GHALY----BOATENG/ LENNON BENT----CAMPBELL/BOSTOCK/TARAABT JUANDE, YOU ONLY HAVE LITTLE TIME LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers! |
Hi Guys, Well we are in shambles (expected), It just gets from bad to worse when the whole team has its head down in depression, Anyway, relegation dog fight!!! At least lets enjoy this, hahaha Lets see what happens to Comolli, Ramos and oh, what changes will be made in January |
hahahahahaa!! Na wah o! Enjoy the yaps While you can!!!!!!!! |
Mukina! Mukina!! Mukina!!! How many times did I call you? Do you want manmustwac to get upset?? lol! Anyway, the chant/song was hilarious! Its good when u get yapped at least if you're playing nonsense! (The lighter side of the beautiful game!) Anyway, BYE! |
