Even at that £55m for a backup winger is ridiculously expensive, because I know Gittens is the main winger, that’s over £110m just on the wings, same people that were penny pinching on Mike Maignan, there just got to be a money laundering scheme going on with Brighton cause this doesn’t make any sense, and worse of all this position-less players comes with bags of attitude, I don’t think it’ll take long before he throws a tantrum if he’s stuck on the bench.
These new owners never fail to amuse me. I wasn’t too surprised that the Mikes deal fell through—after all, Ireti seems to rate that chronic gambler more than any other keeper out there. Yea…at this point, it’s starting to look like our guys might actually be laundering money—no jokes.

If they go ahead and make Delap our main striker, I’m genuinely worried the pressure will be too much for him. Chelsea isn’t Ipswich—this is a whole different level. They shouldn’t risk damaging the boy’s confidence or stalling his career by piling that kind of responsibility on him so soon.

As for João, I honestly don’t know what to expect anymore. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Striker talk is done, that’s the striker….this signing doesn’t just make any sense, he’s not significantly better than Jackson or Delap, and he’s not an out an out winger, £50m just like that
We simply can’t afford to go into next season without adding another striker—one with a different profile from what we currently have. Abeg, this is non-negotiable. I’d like to believe Gittens and João Pedro are being considered for that left-wing role. Now, it’s time for the club to step up and bring in a more experienced striker to complement the squad.

Which one be jack of all trades wey dem dey spend £50mil on top. I hope person head wey dey sign these players head correct sha

well he is almost 24, not so sure how much potential is left to develop, but I understand your view concerning his goals, he did score 20 the previous season though and you may feel suspicious because Brighton are selling an attacker they bought for 35m for 60m. I feel the reason chelsea want him is because of his creativity, they haven't been looking for a proper 9 since they signed delap and honestly I am not against having all three in them team, delap, jackson and pedro. signing pedro doesn't affect Jackson but nkunku as pedro plays all the positions nkunku plays, cf, lw, ss/am.

Pedro is a good player, better him than spending 70m+ on ekitike or sesko
I agree with most of your points; however, I’m a bit skeptical about Pedro, as a significant portion of his goals have come from penalties. Take the 2023/24 season you mentioned, for example—he scored 20 goals in total, with 8 of those being penalties. In the Premier League, he managed 9 goals, 4 of which were from the spot.

Let’s not forget that our main issue has been converting chances in open play, especially in the Premier League. Based on the numbers he’s produced so far, there’s little to suggest he’ll outperform someone like Madueke or Neto in that regard—and that’s my main concern with his signing.

Of course, he could come in and prove to be a smart acquisition over time, but that remains to be seen.

I like Mbeumo too. But I sabi Wetin I dey talk.

That United team is disjointed. Too many egos plus toxic environment due to media attention. I see the possibility of Mbeumo not feeling at home or forming partnerships with his new teammates like he did with Wissa and Noorgard and Schade.

That’s why I’m not expecting him to be an instant success. IMO he had a freak season last season and there’s a good chance he won’t replicate those high scoring returns next season — even if he stayed at Brentford.

Doesn’t mean I’m against his signing. I’m just not giddy with excitement ni
I hear you.

One thing to note about him, though, is that his assist numbers have been consistent even back in the Championship. His goal output has also been fairly steady—last season being the one real outlier, as you’ve already pointed out. That said, I honestly hope he doesn’t come good for you guys, because if he does, it’s going to spell trouble for a lot of teams—including ours!

Chelsea possible signing joao pedro with money Brighton would use and sign elliot
I’m not sure what the recruitment team or the owners see in João Pedro, because the stats just aren’t there. Yes, he’s only 23 and has the potential to develop—similar to some of our current wingers (Madueke and Neto) —but it’s worth noting that half of his goals have come from penalties. I don’t see him taking that responsibility away from Palmer anytime soon, which raises the question: where are his goals going to come from? We might be better off pushing Jackson to the left and using that money to invest in another proper top No. 9.

Can you imagine ?

We were all here when APC supporters portrayed themselves as the lovers of the country supported and defended this same printing of Money done by Emefiele under Buhari’s government . Nothing wey dem no use to defend it. When u talk , they will label u an enemy of the country because u don’t support APC running the nation aground right before our eyes .

Today we are being told the same printing of naira they defended back then crippled the naira .

Indeed Samuel Johnson was right when he said “Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel
Just to clarify—were you against Emefiele printing more of the old naira notes as a way to support the economy, or were you opposed to the printing of the new naira notes ahead of the presidential elections?

I won’t mind having him at United. But I’m not expecting him to tear things up. Anything can happen. Won’t be the first time a promising player flops at Man United.
Unless he suffers a career-changing injury or your coach decides to play him as a left or right wing-back, I don’t see that happening. If I remember correctly, he even played as a striker a few times last season when their main forward was injured—and he delivered too. I like him, sha. Unfortunately, we already have enough players in that position who need to be moved on before any new targets can realistically be considered.

Mbeumo looks like a serious player, sha. I just went through his stats, and there’s been a steady rise year after year. He’s 25—right at that perfect age to start doing serious damage. ManU would be lucky to have him.

While he’s focused on attracting Gen Z users or increasing the number of active users on the platform, he shouldn’t forget that retaining the existing community is just as—if not more—important. Addressing the nuisance caused by the current spambot is one way to do that. We’ve been raising this issue for over a month now with no noticeable improvement. Slowly but surely, people will start to lose interest. Unless, of course, the goal is to drive away long-time members—in which case, the new spambot seems to be doing a pretty effective job.

By the way, the local share feature still isn’t functioning properly. I tried using it earlier, but nothing happened.

External traffic that will be banned by Spambot soon as they make an innocent post and immediately leave due to the poor user experience with Spambot?

It's obvious (as he has admitted) that Seun is not a regular user of Nairaland

What pictures or videos does Nairaland host that anyone will want to share externally? Nairaland is a text based site and simple copy of the URL is all that's needed if you want to copy a thread to a friend. Besides a key feature of Nairaland is anonymity which you lose by sharing posts

The owner of this site needs to open a burner account and use it regularly as a normal user ( not a mod) instead of abandoning it for Elon app. If he knew his user experience, I'm sure he will not make all these decisions we are seeing

Share externally ke, as if na video or picture
Bro!!! Omo… I’ve never seen anything like this before, o. Honestly, anything that doesn’t improve the user experience is dead on arrival. So far, all the changes I’ve seen are a big no. I’m still trying to figure out what the actual end goal is, sha.

Chaiiii… emojis, kwa? You’re doing a fantastic job replacing the resident copy-and-paste merchant on here. Keep wailing—you’re really on a roll.

My guy, you’re too old to be acting like a small pikin. You goofed by using that chess post. Just admit it was a mistake—either because you don’t know enough about chess in the first place, or because you’re too dull to realise it even after being corrected.

And just in case your emotions are clouding your reasoning: I’m Nigerian. I’m neither from Iran nor Israel, and honestly, I couldn’t care less who won or lost the war—as long as it’s over and done with.

At this point, it’s hard to tell whether you’re being deliberately dense or just painfully slow. Either way, it’s not a good look.

All I did was correct your post—I didn’t commit a crime, bros calm down.

My top guys are in my village and in Nigeria. Unless you can name even one of them who died in your war, kindly leave me out of your imaginary agenda. Or do I need to start posting in your local dialect before basic logic starts to register?

Like I already said, I corrected your misinterpretation of that chess post you were waving around like it’s some kind of victory badge. Since your memory seems to be short, here’s the post again:

johnjay4u:
Don't be deceived by media.
Iran was the bigger loser in this war.

If you play chess, you will understand better.
Israel lost pawns while Iran lost bishop, knights , pawns inclusive etc
Only queen and king were saved.
I explained that you completely misused it. In chess, unless the King is actually taken, the game ends in a stalemate—not a win. I also pointed out that pawns aren’t just filler pieces—they can become bishops, rooks, knights, even queens. That’s basic chess. You quoting that post to back your point just showed how little you actually understand the game—or nuance in general.

Not everything is black and white like the pieces on a chessboard. But you? You see the world in extremes, and it shows.

Please, don’t let your dull ness be the dEARTH of me.

Stop embarrassing yourself, my guy. Your agenda clearly won’t let you read and understand any post properly — including mine.

I basically told you that using that guy’s post to support your point doesn’t make any sense, especially since he was referencing a game of chess in his analogy.

I’m not interested in who won or lost the war. You’ve got your fellow pro-Iran folks to argue about that. What matters most to me is that the war has technically ended without further escalation.

If you want to keep doing a victory lap over the dead, that’s your cup of tea — not mine.

This guy said it best...
It’s pretty clear you don’t really play or understand chess — otherwise, you wouldn’t be making such a misinformed claim about who won based on that post.

The post you quoted clearly shows it was a stalemate — meaning no winner and no loser.

And just to clarify, pawns are far from irrelevant; they’re just as important as bishops, rooks, and knights because they can be promoted — even to a queen.

Abeg, before you try to take over from our in-house copy-and-paste expert, Olodo-in-Chief liveLongNprospa, try verifying what you’re sharing first. No need to set yourself up like that.

the reverend is his older brother

and this has absolutely nothing to do with LASG so for all we know if a demolition actually occurred - it may be his fellow businessman behind it
To be fair, in Nigeria, the term ‘youngest brother’ can refer to a younger cousin, relative, or even someone who isn’t a family member — maybe he even has an unofficially adopted brother lol. But your point still makes sense sha.
