lekkie073: JOSE MOURINHO has vowed to win the title in one season. By Alex Wood / Published 24th July 2016
The Portuguese took the reins at Old Trafford following Louis van Gaal's sacking at the end of last season. And the ex- Chelsea chief claims he's under no pressure from United bigwigs - but he's determined to win the title in his first season. He told The Sun: "No ultimatum. No demands. "Just tranquillity to play and work my three-year contract. "The message from the owners and Mr Woodward was this — 'Get your three years, do your work, improve the team and bring us back where we belong during a three-year period'. "My message was that I wanted to win the title in the first season." Mourinho also insists he will not hide behind Champions League qualification.
He added: "I want to be champion. To say before the season starts that the top four is the target? "The top four is not the target. We want to play to be champions. "If during the season we realise the points difference doesn't allow us to fight for the title, we are going to establish a new title and when you can't be champion the next target is to finish top four. "But day one, I don't want to hide behind a bad season or no Champions League football to say we want to finish top four."

Nihilist: I didn't think he played too badly myself but I wasn't really impressed either. I think he scored against a relegated villa side though.
I think that my chairman FBS is misunderstanding me. All I'm saying is that I'm not impressed if he scores 10 goals against a team who play on a field in the bush (Google it). If even Mikel can score against them, then kini big deal?
I don't really see how that line of thinking clashes with Contes statement. Funny enough I haven't been following them boyz so, I don't have any idea whatsoever as regards contes statement. I am particularly ok with him playing upfront and don't ever want to see him around the DM position. We can only hope he develops/grows to be a better player. |

Nihilist: Lukaku cost more than Eto'o and Drogba combined. On price tag value alone, he had grounds to demand to start. Jose clearly didn't rate Etoo sef given his old age comments.
When a club signs a player for up to 17m and put him on the bench, you know that the manager is making a statement.
When you go out on loan twice scoring almost 40 league goals in 2 seasons, yet your manager goes to sign Costa, then you know that your manager is making a statement.
Jose was the one that deliberately blocked Lukaku especially after that SuperCup game. That's just the fact of the matter. How is lukaku worth more than eto and drogba combined at 17mil? Bros you can do better than this,haba..! Anyways, na fresh argument wan start so bros, and my batt dey almost flat. Will come back to trash this out. |

raumdeuter: Its working for other clubs, How many of these cases have worked for Chelsea in the past 15yrs? So its either the recruitment was wrong or the club wasnt even looking in their direction and gave up on them
Bayern have had Lahm, ALaba, Kroos also go out on loan and come back stronger into the first team. Chelsea cant point to any like that either grew into the first team or went on loan and came back
Then what was the scouting report and sense behind buying them then? All of them were bought in the past 4yrs o. Teams have transfer flops. Like Remy, Rahman, Djiboloji, Mikel, some consider Oscar too but Some of these above didnt even get up to 1 season in Chelsea squad before they were shipped out on loan. So what was the plan when they were shipped out almost immediately they were bought Thanks for this post. |

Nihilist: PvA and Bertrand are completely unremarkable footballers so I'm not fussed that they were kicked out of the club. The road to football glory is littrered with broken dreams and substandard talent. They have found their levels in midtable and the relegation zone. Let them lie there.
Wes Brown and Oshea at their peak are still better than PvA. Heck, up until May, they were actually even playing with PvA in the same team!
Leicester has/had significant talent. We just signed on of their players for 30m. Arsenal went in for Vardy. Mahrez reportedly has a 45m price tag.
To narrow it down to specific positions, Christian Fuchs is one of the most capped players from Austria and is a Champions league regular. He is better than both PvA and Bertrand
Nobody is writing them off(PvA or Bertrand), but we must also hold realistic expectations for some of these players. The club invests so much time and money into raising these players, and want them to succeed far more than you and I do..but sometimes the players are just not good enough.
The left backs at Barca Madrid and Bayern are all better than Bertrand or PvA. Alaba is younger than them. Alba is around the same age. Marcelo is older. They are all better than Bertrand or PVA.
I have zero regret that those two were kicked out. They are simply not good enough. Are you deliberately typing the way you are on purpose? So according to you, you knew kante and mahrez were going to be top players before the season started, right? You must be nastradamus then bruv! Please, PVA and Bertrand were just names I mentioned and they do not justify why the club have done a terrible job at handling the younger players! By the way you exaggerate badly calling Bertrand mediocre. He may not be a world class talent however he is definitely not mediocre. And, stop using the shitty England selection of national team players to justify your point bros. What is actually happening here Nihilist? Why do you want to compare like for likes when I clearly stated, each of barca, Madrid and Bayern must have or have had their fair share of PVA and bertrand kind of players? The point here is not if Bertrand or PVA are world class or great talents rather its about giving youths a chance and not steeewpidly spending cash to buy worse players than them, when we can make do with what we have. You can be happy all you want about PVA and Bertrand getting kicked out however, the discourse has always been about the way the younger players have being handled so far. Not about PVA and Bertrand bros. Meanwhile, you can take a vote btw pva/bertrand and baba to see who most CFC fans will rather have in this presently squad. Anyways, what is obvious here is that, you won't try to see things differently. So I see were you coming from but, I do not support it. I rest my case bro. |

Nihilist: PvA and Bertrand are utterly mediocre. Completely forgetable players. Bertrand in particular has been kept on the bench at international level by Gibbs, Baines, and Danny rose who aren't exactly incarnations of Roberto Carlos.
They weren't good enough to bench Ashley Cole and weren't good enough to bench a Right Back. Please stop mentioning these guys as examples of 'talent' we've lost.
It makes your entire argument rather weak. This is were you got it all wrong! Dunno if you skipped were I mentioned they weren't world class but could be relied on to do a decent job? By the way, talent alone has never cut it and it won't start today. If I may ask you, how many talent did Leicester parade before winning the league or Portugal before winning the euros? Or Didn't fergie and ManU win several titles parading the likes of brown and O'Shea? I am even surprised you are bringing Gibbs of all people into this! I am not here to claim or declare this guys as exceptional talents, Far from it. I am only trying to point you towards a different direction(if possible) which is, we should not be quick to write off this young guys! It is even totally atrocious to loan or sell your youth players, just to go out there to buy or loan useless players as replacements. Lastly, it is almost a dream to have a perfect super talented full team squad. Kindly do well to check, even the barca,Madrid and Bayern of this world, have had and still do have players not better than the guys you have singlehandedly written off! In essence, I will only support the loaning out or selling any of this youth players, if and only if, we are getting a better player or those in the first team are actually better than they are. Not baba! Not falcao and definitely not pato type of players.....! Not having to endure ramirez for years and still have Mikel in our books will not cut it for me. |

^^^^^ I hear you Nihilist and I understand your position on the subject matter however, I still do not agree with you on this!
Just as you can point out players who had to play through lower divisions/ leagues or embark on loan moves to gather much experience before making the senior team, I can point you towards the direction of players who broke into their respective first team without necessarily doing any of the above.
My question for you is;
1) With the amount of youth players back home, and those scattered all over Europe, why haven't we been able to integrate a single youth player into the senior team for over 10years?
There is no way you can prove all this players have been uber useless or not talented enough throughout this period.
To make matters now worse, most clubs would rather develop theirs before considering loanees.
Yes, we all crave to see a world class player/players graduate into the senior team from the youth system however, what if this players won't ever be or turn a world class player, what do we do?
Nihilist, there is little or no guarantee that a youth player will ever become a world class from day one, except for some chosen few. However, many of this players can do fantastic jobs if given the opportunity. If given the opportunity , they can be an integral part of the first team! Maybe not as world class talents but, as players with raw hunger, passion and the spirit/blood of CFC imbedded in them.
Why sell PVA and Bertrand just to end up with baba rahman!? Why do we send players like bamford or solanke on loans just to loan falcao and pato? Of what benefit is it to sign old men like djiblahblahblah, omeruo and hector, when we have home grown youth players like Ake, Chris and kalas waiting to get a chance someday, then loan them out all out?
Truth is, we are always going to suffer in the long run with the way and manner we have been handling this young players. |

@ Nihilist
I see your response burr I guess we all have moved on from the discourse. So no need to open forgotten pages! Nice opinion though, even if I no agree with you still.
Meanwhile, I personally feel Iva shud never play RB for us going forward however, I am confident he can do a better job than Cahill and terry in the CB position! That's the single and simple reason I have always insisted he shouldn't be sold.
I won't even bother talking about baba bcuz I didn't see the match, this is preseason and Conte is just looking for the first team players. However, RLC is one player who gets under my skin like every second. I don't see any desire, zero fight and effort from dude! However, I only see the cockiness of a player who thinks he has arrived with mikels tendencies to be a snail. Just for the single sake of desire, fighting spirit and effort, the fvck should be on loan and not Ake. Except he his staying back to occupy Oscars position ( hopefully Oscar gets signed to Jupiter!).
If possible I want mahrez, but I must confess with traore, moses,Marko Marin, salah, caudrado,Pedro and Willian still available, except all of them will be outrightly discharged from CFCs books with the exception of Willian, then I won't support us getting Mahrez.
CFC should stop behaving like a denied/deprivated child who became wealthy over night for once!!! We should fvcking handle things differently!! |

It is a good thing we now have kante. I hope we can now focus on fixing the backline especially the three position.
Since we have been linked to getting a CB already, which is good! We should be fine with zouma, ivanovic, cahill, terry, the new cb n chris(who could be on his way to another loan move).
I hope conte will consider bringing back Wallace as a back up to azi. Though, I must confess that, I hv not watched in play for sometime now.
Baba rahman is a unique one for me. I clearly do not rate him and if possible want him out however, conte will be in a better position to determine if he wants him at the club and if he will be the first choice LB. I only pray he improves if he stays back but more importantly we get a better LB before the window closes. |

he might not be d best at what he does bur he offers a lot of goals/assists that is good enuf for a player playing such position I do not think it is wise to use goals/assists to justify your point here! Not especially when we will have to evaluate or review it along the quoted amount involved. Just my thoughts tho..no offence meant. |

How can introducing a youth player stop us from winning a trophy or two?
For Christ sake.....! Ryan Bertrand played a very key role when we won our very first UCL.
It is really disgusting to see CFC without a single youth player to show for, after several years of stockpiling and poaching this guys from order clubs!
Right now, I don't know if I am even more irritated at the club for fvcking the life's of this kids or the fans who spring/cook up all sorts of excuses to support this club fvcking youth policies.

Nihilist: I don't see how Emenalo is trying to protect Rahman...it's not as if Rahman even sees first team shirt.
Anyway I don't think Ake is ready to be our first choice left back. Contrary to what a lot of people think on here, he wasn't actually that good at Watford. It wasn't that difficult to win young player of the year at Watford when he was actually the only player in the first team under the age of 25..plus Watford finished 14th in the league.
That being said...he is a very good player for his age.
Comparing Alaba and Kimmich to Ake makes zero sense at all. Not only were those two far ahead of Ake in terms of talent, both actually had several seasons of professional football under their belt before entering the Bayern 1st team.
Kimmich had 2 full seasons in the German equivalent of the Championship and League 1. Alaba had 3 full seasons professional footy in Germany as well as some Austrian Bundesliga experience before he was ready for the 1st team at Bayern
If your argument is that Ake should be allowed to play any position just so he can get a shirt in the first team, I dont know what to say to that.
What I do know though is that Ake has indicated that he wants to play at Central midfield and believes that Conte(and Emenalo) feel the same way. I think that there is simply no space for him in the midfield with us right now, and cannot fault a decision to send him out on loan to develop elsewhere. At this stage of his career, he needs regular minutes to keep developing, not piecemeal 5 minutes here or there. At what point would you actually agree a youth player of ours is ready to be in the first team? Not that I am accusing you of anything however, over the years I have noticed you have always been skeptical about players from our youth team and I am beginning to wonder why? @ the bolded above, there's clearly no rules which states a youth player should go on several loans before earning a position in the first team. Except I am greatly mistaking, how many loan move did bellerin, stones, eric dier, sterling e.t.c embark on before getting a real go at the first team? I sincerely feel this akes loan deal is fvcked up!!! Especially when we still have a cvnt like baba in the team. Ake may not be an Ashley Cole or an Alaba or kimmich burr he should have been in this team! |
