Very brilliant, like a seasoned pundit. You one of the reason I made nairaland my day to day news meal. TheSuperNerd: Now let me address this fine post.
✔The midfield you put out here is likely to be the Midfield we see against Algeria. If there would be any change at all, it would just be one. That is if at all there would be any changes.
But in the absence of no changes, then yes, Agu will sit as the DM. And he interprets that role a little differently than Ndidi. He is a bloody destroyer. Lol. Agu will mark and chase down dangers and use his physicality also. A real soldier.
Frank Onyeka will be the more mobile of the two as he would act as the ball carrier/CM linking up with Iwobi more often..
Iwobi will do what he does best. Link up plays and make our attacking moves flow through him.
✔The attack too is very likely and it would be interesting to see Nacho playing with free flowing ballers flanking him with an Iwobi behind him as a kind of AM/SS. It is likely. But in case, Rohr does not fancy Nacho starting as the Top 9, then it would likely be Dessers or inform Onuachu. But Nacho is the most experienced of the three so maybe he would edge it. Time will tell if otherwise.
✔Now in defence. This is where Rohr could come up with any number of combos.
In goal, You went with Alampasu and that is possible. Dele is not new to this team actually. Rohr knows the lad well. The only time he played under Rohr was against Togo in a friendly we won 3-0 back in 2017 or so. I think it's easily a toss up between Okoye (who has only gotten minutes with Sparta Rotterdam's reserve team in the lower leagues of Holland and with the first team in Preseason before the season proper began) and Dele Alampasu who has actually been in goal in a good number of games for Ventspils in Latvia and even in the UEL qualifiers. Okoye is favorite but I won't rule out a good fight from Dele.
At CB, he could go with the trusted Ekong and Semi Ajayi pair as that is what our central defence has looked like in our last four games vs Lesotho, Benin, Brazil and Ukraine.
Any change could see maybe Akpoguma start or see Omeruo start. But if not, then it might remain Ekong-Ajayi. I don't know if Rohr could start with Ajayi-Awaziem... It is possible considering Ekong hasn't played much yet this season and only just joined Watford but he has been training and is fit.
At LB, our last four games saw Collins start in three of them (Ukraine, Brazil, and Benin). He missed the last one as Aina took the reins. Now Collins is available for this but he hasn't been playing yet in hopes he might get a move away from Paderborn and another Nigerian, Chima Okoroji has been playing LB for Paderborn. Now this could mean he doesn't get to play as Rohr could look to New guy, Zaidu Sanusi. Aina and Ebuehi are also options there even as they are also options on the right. Time will tell.
At RB, our last four games saw Aina and Awaziem share duties. Aina started against Ukraine. Awaziem started against Brazil. Aina started again against Benin but Awaziem came back to RB against Lesotho while Aina went to LB in same game.
Now that means the likely starters at RB could be Aina or Awaziem. But judging by the availability of options as Ebuehi is now in the conversation and has been having a decent run at Twente, then that leaves Rohr with choices to take a sweet bath in and keep us guessing a bit.
It is exciting. The Super Eagles are back with even more sweetness in depth.
Now is the time to put the depth to test. |

Mod.. tamper justice with mercy and pls unban the monikers. semid4lyfe: 1. I am the moderator of the Sports section and I have not acted outside the rules.
2. You guys insult yourselves daily on this thread but I overlook it because I know you all are friends, it's mostly light banter, there's an in-house mechanism for resolving issues and common sense will prevail at the end of the day.
3. Andrewbab44's outburst and insult to Xeun was without provocation, unnecessary and plain silly.
His quoted post above contravenes rules 2 and 20 of the forum.
4. Joebie, even after being shown the reason for which andrewbaba44 was banned still doubled down and insulted the moderator which contravened the same Rule 2 and 20; and to what purpose?
Solidarity with his friend?
Anyway, he boasted he doesn't give a damn even if he's banned for eternity so he should take his 1 week ban like a man and stop whinning.
The stubborn fly that refuses to let go off the corpse will also go six feet under.
A pleasant day to Y'all. |

why do all South Africa national team coaches make so much noise...mmba, i need an very heavy thrashing of them on saturday and i will celebrate with a full asun, and isi ewu.... Joebie: OPPONENT WATCH
We have got to shut the crowd up in Nigeria‚ says Bafana coach Baxter Stuart Baxter says if Bafana Bafana can shut the crowd up in the first 20 minutes of Bafana Bafana's 2019 Africa Cup Nations qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo on Saturday‚ it will be advantage South Africa. Bafana meet Nigeria in their opening qualifier for Cameroon 2019 having never beaten their nemesis the Super Eagles in a competitive match.
This will also be Baxter's first game in charge at the start of his second tenure as Bafana coach.
"I think we've got to shut the crowd up. That's one of our big jobs‚" Baxter said ahead of his team's afternoon departure to overnight in Lagos‚ then flight to Uyo in central Nigeria on Thursday morning.
"If we let the crowd get excited‚ and Nigeria enjoy the game‚ then I think that's going to be a big plus for them.
"I think if we can turn that around and frustrate them a bit‚ and be better than they think‚ and have more to say than they think‚ then maybe the crowd could be a bit of a negative for them.
"I think that's important. And maybe if Niegria could have chosen‚ they might not really have wanted to play us in the first game at home.
"Because then there is the scenario that if they lose they're going to be under tremendous pressure from the beginning.
"So we have to use that. With the mental part of the game‚ the boys have to feel that this is one where we can spoil the party a bit. We can make it difficult for Nigeria."
Baxter said stifling Nigeria in the opening 20 minutes could be crucial for Bafana.
"It will be big. The critical phases of the game are always important‚ and I think the first period in this game is a big one.
"Because that will either bring the crowd into the game‚ or it will take them out a bit.
"If the first 20 minutes are not what they had hoped‚ then immediately the crowd will make their displeasure felt‚ then they will be baying for blood. And I think that will be advantage us."
The coach said Bafana's two draws against Nigeria - including having held a 2-0 lead in Uyo - in the qualifiers for Afcon 2015‚ which SA reached at the defending champions' expense‚ has helped chip away at the Eagles' psychological advantage.
"I think that having been there and having gone through it‚ it gives the players a sense of calm. I don't think we fear Nigeria as much as respect them‚" the coach said.
"The players have gone there‚ they've gone through the mill so to speak.
"They're thinking that they have gone there‚ and maybe if they had hung on they could have gotten the result."

Uhmmm, good morning, u want them to come after you with that your last paragraph. safarigirl: is Aluko a number 9? I used to think he plays a similar position to Iwobi
Anyway, contrary to what some may feel, I don't think Osimhen is a golden horse on this thread, a lot of people are largely indifferent about him in fact. Nobody here has ever called for his inclusion, so I don't see what makes him an 'untouchable'. The defense of Osimhen's inclusion has more tto do with keeping faith in Rohr than protecting Osimhen.
As far as I know, the only golden boys on this thread are Mikel, Iheanacho and Iwobi and then maybe Etebo and Alampasu come close. |
