This is Central Africa not North Africa, No North African team will smell the final...take this to the bank. Cup is between Senegal, Cameroun, Cote d Ivoire. Would have added Nigeria but preparation is in shambles.
darkelf:
He is an overrated player

We won't miss him

I am also happy Osimhen would likely miss AFCON. His injuries have not healed and I dn't want him to end his promising career
Let him rest. There's always another 2 years

Meanwwhile -

Algeria - 1st

Senegal-2nd

Tunisis/Mrocco - 3rd/4th (interchangeable)

Seems with your assertion you making a joke...but if otherwise, you very much naive about African football. Has Guinea nor Sudan won a tea cup in Afcon? Ghana, Senegal, Cameroun are in camp and with detailed program.
Tessyy1701:
It is safe to say this Afcon is for Guinea or Sudan or nobody
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 10:12am On Dec 30, 2021
Agreed 100% with you. We nigerians know how it rolls with our football coaches who have been on the sideline for a while...no be today yansh dey for back.. grin.
semid4lyfe:
The release of the 40 - man provisional list submitted by Rohr to CAF has exposed Eguavoen to be "shady" .

Also, I question his decision making and I feel like Rohr we'll be shocked & disappointed with his team selection.

Personally, I am glad he won't be in charge after the AFCON.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 10:53pm On Dec 29, 2021
Has he won any trophy before even when he had the luxury of time to prepare a team not to talk of now that everything about the team preparation and Nff is in turmoil. Guy Eguavoen can not win a tea cup. Just lower your expectation and enjoy the Afcon. Serious team that desire the trophy are in camp and have a well detailed program in place and those not in camp already just exited a tournament a week ago.
SerVik:
Not even an issue of announcing, the whole appointment should have been done after the tournament. If you appoint him without making the announcement, it might backfire after the tournament cos imagine if Eguavoen wins the trophy then few days later a new coach is announced, you'll be the first person to criticize it.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 10:42pm On Dec 29, 2021
No negative effect on the team, the boys know and they are aware that he is a fidiye (interim) coach. They will play for the badge bro.
TheGoodJoe:

The point is the effect on the team. You can argue that they will want to prove themselves to the new manager but the genuine message is that Eguavoen is not coach. Which is not the message to send before the competition when Eguavoen is leading them to the competition.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 10:28pm On Dec 29, 2021
Even though he was out of tune in respect to modern football, he was not a failure. He met all his given target within the five years in was in charge.
TheGoodJoe:

But white Rohr can be trusted.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 10:21pm On Dec 29, 2021
Guy, you must be in dreamland or another world to think Eguavoen who has not be on the touchline for ages now and the shambolic preparation would win a tea cup not even the Afcon for Nigeria.

Lets not be sentimental here.... There were better equipped and knowledgeable Nigerian coach but as usual mediocrity over merit.
forgiveness:
NFF deliberately appointed a coach before the AFCON because in eventuality Eguavoen wins it, it will be difficult to appoint a Foreign coach, this is what NFF is trying to avoid.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 10:09pm On Dec 29, 2021
Uhmmm, you need not complain please. Let the Nff be. They announced a change of guard barely 3weeks to a tournament[quote TheGoodJoe post=108914622]I don't think announcing Peseiro as coach is a good call at all. Few weeks to the AFCON? The guys should have gone to the AFCON with the mind set that if they play well for Eguavoen, he might retain the job and keep them in the team.

Now the players will go to the tournament with the mind set that Eguavoen is not their coach.

Pinnick is such a disaster. I wonder why some people come here to defend him.

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 2:00pm On Dec 29, 2021
Meaning we should lower our expectations concerning this Afcon. If we lose out from the group stage or bring back bronze medal we should accept our lot... Andrew, what i find amusing is that our journos and Ex Internationals have failed football enthusiasts by not always saying the truth about the formations and personnel of our team. What is holding Nigeria back from greatness has found his way into the sport that brings joy to you and i.
andrewbaba44:
We are yet to employ a new coach nah

Eguavoen is only an interim coach
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 1:42pm On Dec 29, 2021
Andrewbaba44 my guy, i have always love your objectivity to football by saying the truth as it ought to be but the bolded below is over the bar grin

Andrew are you saying we sacked the archaic Rorh for nothing?
andrewbaba44:
Where did I ever said musa and shehu are making impact to this team

I have always been against those 2 ,I remember some of them here telling me that they are old members of the team and can’t be dropped ,well they should stop ranting and move on as many of them once supported shehu and musa

What line should eguavoen had follow ? He is an interim coach and after Afcon he will be gone

Maybe eguavoen should have called lord Calvin bassey and Lionel lookman and ebuehi alves to make you guys happy grin
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 1:34pm On Dec 29, 2021
Uhmm, TheGoodjoe, all what you wrote does not inspire confidence. Are we going for a jamboree or to win the Afcon in Cameroon? The bolded says it all...how many times has he started a match for the Super Eagles wearing the captain band? How many XG per match as a forward does he have for the team in 6 qualifying matches to date? I thought Rorh was a very good riddance but the new coach dampened my expectations concerning this Afcon. I know Naija will be great one day.
TheGoodJoe:

I hope you know Eguavoen does not even have time for a friendly match. He has to work with what is on ground. So he can not make too much changes few weeks to he AFCON.

Let us be realistic. You can not just dump the captain.

Eguavoen has explained that he will work with the team on ground due to time. That is the only solution.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 12:44pm On Dec 29, 2021
Guy, because Rohr (the week and coward coach that gives victory to his opponents before battle is set ) failed to call nor used form players over training materials, the new coach must behave likewise!. Be truthful to yourself, in the past 2years of national team football, what impact has Musa and Shehu has on our football and going forward, do you honestly think they can effect our football development positively. Rorh was sacked because of the calamity to come according to Amaju, that is they see no future in Rorh bringing Tea cup to Nigeria...i don't expect the new coach to tow the same line....
andrewbaba44:
Everybody cannot go to afcon

The strikers there self are too much

Na just love Una get for Ebuehi ,he only recently started 2 games and did well ,rohr didn’t call him on his recent squad before he was sacked so I don’t know why you guys are acting surprised

The only reason I want Ebuehi is ahead of shehu abdulahi and that’s all

Calvin bassey rohr no play am when e call am ,so make una cool down

Lookman was part of the 40 man list submitted by Rorh, but Naija magic did abracadabra so as to be political correct. Hope one day fairness and justice we be our way of life.
PurpleHouse:
Is Lookman cleared or NOT?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 11:10pm On Dec 28, 2021
Would have love Lookman, Calvin and Ebuehi to be part of this Afcon team but who am i and what do i know?... Hope Nigeria would be free one day from corruption and sentiment slavery.

Is it not the same Olisah that played libero against Mexico and the whole defence personnel were chasing shadows.... We love mediocrity too much in this country.....merit always slaughtered to enthrone mediocrity....Na Naija we dey...we all know how it always pan out.
ChrisKels:
Recipe for disaster.

Watch out for Olisah Ndah, he is the real deal

Oga just say you want Amunike and stop beating round the bush.. We still need a good technical foreign coach...let the best of Nigeria coaches learn a trade or two from him for the next 3 years max.
Philosopher1979:
According to Punch newsPaPPers, Nff wants
to aPPoint another foreign coach next week.
Nff are fond of doing the right thing the wrong way.
We dont need a foreign coach
Also, we may sign another Rohr like contract with him and
so the contract has to be scrutinized by the sPorts minister before we get into trouble.

THE PROBLEM WITH FOREIGN COACHES.
They don't understand our native style of Play and how to interPrete it in
the light of modern football.
A foreing coach will not address our Problem of lack of creative midfielders
Such a coach will not use alhassan yusuf, nwakali etc and then invite onuachu and musa to the team.
Another Problem is he will be too exPensive for us.
If we appoint a foreing coach before the nations cup we are not going anywhere
Our problem is that we need a coach who understands our style of football and can interprete it for
us so as to get the best results.
They should leave Eguavon there and if they need a change, Amunike will be better
The tragedy of European coaches is that they try and force an alien style of play on Africans and it
does not work.
Westerhoof is one of the few foreign coaches that really understood us.
Also, a foreign coach in the next 1 week will not understand our football.
He will play our players out of position.
the problem with Africans in general is that we do not embrace our originality which is unique
and with which we can conquer the world. That is exactly what happened with the usa 94 team.
We did not care that Stoichkov was in Barcelona and Bulgaria were one of the best teams in the world.
We simply expressed ourselves properly
WE DONT NEED A FOREIGN COACH FOR NOW!!!

True talk
IDENNAA:
We don't need anymore CDM/CM. We are very shorthanded in the AM position. Why are we stacking the team with DM,CM , CDM ? We need a highly technical AM!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 11:10pm On Jul 05, 2021
Bros, I think something big is about to play out...Amaju is owing the foreign based thousands of dollars in unpaid bonus, owing the technical bench many months of unpaid bonuses and salary...He knows he won't pay the home base players dollars as bonus rather he pays them allowances per match. Amaju and his cohorts cash out big time playing this matches in USA, carpenter home base players are happy about the exposure but Nigeria football image in the global world nosedive to the abyss. I would not exonorate our politician Minister of home base football from all this debacle and shenanigans Amaju is pushing to our face. Amaju hands are tied and they all do not care about football development but only after what they can grab.
Icon4s:
Rather than making use of these games to prepare the Super Eagles for the WCQ Amaju is busy organizing International friendlies with the NPFL boys.
What does he want to achieve with these home based players for God's sakes?

This guy needs to be stopped. He obviously doesn't know what he is doing anymore. angry

I. Was there any shot at goal by our mediocre footballers?
2. The calm passing was basically sideways within two metres and backward. Did the calm passing you noticed result in any panic in the Mexican half of the field. Note I did not mention the Mexican 18 yard box.
3. I don't want to talk about the goalkeeper. The entire defence system with its personality were carpenters.
4. I bet it's only you with your sentimental biased mindset for mediocrity that saw or noticed a red card play in favour of Nigeria.
5. Anytime we bring to light the darkness and evil farmer league our football administrator are operating, you call us haters.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I now know you better...you know your gain in this shame called professional league operated by LMC.
BascoVanVeli:
Grown men telling bold face lies. So u didn't see the team get Anayo two early chances that were blocked? How did that happen? Did the ball magically appear on his feet? U didn't see the calm passing in the midfield? Anthony Shimaga the number 4 especially. The goalkeeper making saves that would have been goals against Cameroon cheesy then Anayo blowing past the Mexicans and getting to the byline at will only to be let down by his final ball. The red card he should have wonhuh Only a pure hater will say they saw absolutely nothing in that game. Yes they collectively were bad but u could see the positives if u cared to look.

You saw some good things....guy I now understand you better. That team that played Mexico is full with carpenters called footballers, a team that the centre back played countless pass back to the opponent, a team that can't defend for their life, a team that had no shot at goal for 92mins, a team that should have collected nothing less than 3 red card. I have always be a proponent of scrapping the farmer league we have and get serious about club licencing football in this country and stop pretending. Can you remind me when last a Nigerian clubside played the semifinal not the final of Africa champions League.
BascoVanVeli:
I will maintain that I saw some good things. The goals were embarrassing though.

BascoVanVeli:
That means we shouldn't respect any professional in Nigeria because they sure don't have the same training and learning environment as those abroad. Let's just blow up the country and start afresh.

Maybe some of us hate on these guys because they are enjoying their local careers more than us. The hate for the local player seems like a spawn of jealousy.
The bolded above is why I don't engage in discussion online.. not your first time. Kindly free your heart from this trouble of insecurity. was?
Subzero047:
That goal was partly Ekong's fault, how can an experienced defender clear a ball to the front of his 18yard box? He just set up an assist for Anguisa
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 10:05am On Jun 05, 2021
There is a wide difference between a lemon and a lemonade. Promote local players but don't put them in the same conversation with well coached professional players with technical and stable football playing environment.
BascoVanVeli:
There is no difference between what the super eagles just played and what Enyimba played against that Egyptian team. If John Noble conceded that goal we would be hearing that no NPFL player should ever touch a football.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 9:44pm On May 30, 2021
Please endeavour to say the truth at all times when it concerns our local league.....Enyimba players and technical crew were mediocre. They lack the simple basic of football and coaching.
BascoVanVeli:
Poor selection by the Enyimba coach plus stage fright from the attackers. The same player made the crucial mistake in both matches.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by dijon: 11:27pm On May 21, 2021
Guy, I like your optimism but he'll no will Enyimba win Pyramid at ABA not to even talk about qualifying. Nigeria league need to be put on hold and stakeholders charter a new course for development of the league. We play semi amateur league football. Aged players that lack the basic techniques of playing football, coaches that don't have more than NSC certificate, club chairmen that are after state government largess and don't care about the tiny details of players welfare, quality recruitment, diet and performance. We need to put the league on hold and restrature all facet of football development in our country.
BascoVanVeli:
My thoughts on Enyimba's do or die match against pyramid FC of Egypt. U already know I will be optimistic so don't come and be calling me over patriotic abeg cheesy
