My sister dont fear. Infact i would gladly take induction now if suggested to me cos im tired. I did it for my two kids and it went well. I have history of big babies too. I dont want to wait till 39 weeks if baby is big. I hate cervical checking and swap pass induction i swear. You can do it believe me. Induction is faster for subsequent labour so you are good to do.

Thank you sis. My Sabi Mama's @Kunmisola and @Iamfertile03 I hail oh. Thanks for giving me hope

My BS :
Hmmm, where do I start from so I dont write a complete book? God has been merciful to me all through the years. I ttc for 7 years so when I found I was pregnant at exactly 7years I decided that nothing will happen to this pregnancy. All through the 1st trimester till 3rd trimester I didn't even feel like I was pregnant. Everything was just normal except for the nausea that comes & go.
At 34 weeks my Dr advice we should do elective CS or induced me since the baby was matured & wt our years of ttc that we shouldn't take any chances. I declined because I was scared of surgery (my younger sis died during her 3rd CS) so I guess the trauma was still in me so I declined saying that I'll try normal delivery.
...
To all the awaiting mothers I pray God will do it & the preggy sisters easy birth injn.

Congratulations mama, truly, I am super happy for you.

I am 39+ weeks and I have a history of big babies. My first was 4.0 virginal birth with plenty tear.
This one, my last scan as at yesterday shows my baby is already 4.1kg. My gynea has slated me for induction tomorrow Friday.
I am so afraid cos even the swap he did on me yesterday, I screamed down the whole hospital.
I have taken pineapple, lipton, trekked for where my oga is still there just shaking body small small.

Truth be told I am tireddd. This induction news is not helping my tiredness at all.

I am even considering to request for CS instead of induction. Sabi mamas that have experienced both please help a sister in distress

I was team may 2020, ported to April 23 2020, I remembered Dinabella was also team may 2020. Now we are here in 2023, I have ported to April. Dinabella is also team may 2023.. perfect timing.

Yeah I remember... even though I did not port to April in 2020. I hope you are having fun in your 4th trimester irrespective of the stress.

The way I am praying to port is not here. I am so tired cos this stomach is too big. To move now is very tiring and changing sleeping positions on the bed is story for another day. I have had to do scan personally else where asides my hospital to be sure I am not carrying twins cos of my belly size but it's just one.

Now my prayer is that the baby doesn't get to 4.0kg like the first cos I had better tear last time hence my wanting to port before Edd.

In all God knows what's best for us, He will do!

Thanks so much mama. This is encouraging. Please how much did you get the nipple shield on jumia and how effective is it? Thanks once again

The nipple shield was N2,940 (plus delivery) as at when I ordered. I am yet to use it because I started direct breastfeeding a day before the shield was delivered lucky me cheesy

My problem may have been poor latching as explained by a sabi mama so I had to read up and study the latching process.

I intensified effort based on the advice of sabi mamas @sugah, @miraclebaby and @Awesomebaby and extracted breast milk every three hours(day and night) unlike before that i extracted milk three times daily only.

The numerous milk extraction may have helped my nipple. Also, studying and learning how to latch properly helped too (to be a learner isn't funny o)

Though I still make mistake while trying to put the nipple in my baby's mouth, the stress of extracting milk severally especially at night and the Joy of having him suck directly from me keeps me going.

Surely, with consistency we'll be perfect before Friday (that's the target).

Best of luck mama, safe delivery too

Hello mama. I will love to know if you got where to buy the nipple shield. I seriously need it o. I have an inverted nipple as well and a friend told me to be using syringe to draw it out before delivery. I noticed it goes back in after a few minutes of using the syringe. I've included breast pump in my bag thinking it will help and here you are saying the nipple goes back in after stimulation. It will really break my heart if I'm unable to breastfeed o as I don't plan using formula. I await your response ma.

Hello ma'am, you can be advised better on the use of syringes to pull or draw out the nipple in Primary health centres or general hospitals ( got to know this during my baby's BCG).
It'll also be nice to speak with a medical practitioner regarding this.

Breast pump works for some people but for others, it doesn't. Hopefully, It'll work for you but if it doesn't, you could pump and bottle feed your baby.

I ordered for the nipple shield on Jumia, you could try that also. You can also contact mama @zaynie to see if she has it in stock or can help you get it.

I am no longer depressed like I used to be (thanks to the sabi mamas on this platform).

Let your mind be at peace and don't get yourself worked up over the nipple issue, things will turn out fine eventually.

Please don’t give up on pumping. Even the enhancer doesn’t always work with all. Pumping only three times is not enough. You should pump at least every 3hours and bottle feed your baby. People are different, just find what suits you. Note that the less you pump the lesser your body will produce but if you pump more your body will keep producing more just like people the directly breast feed. Nothing to be depressed about dear

sugah:

Uwc.

My son from zero to 3months struggled to suck my breasts..my nipples are ok but he just didn't like to eat (still doesn't like to eat). He will rather sleep than suck. Unfortunately for me when he was 3months old I had a really bad cold and to avoid passing it to him I opted for expressing milk and bottle-feeding him, he got used to the bottle and preferred it so much that he totally refused sucking directly from me. But I was intent on exclusively breastfeeding him until 6months, so I continued expressing milk to bottle-feed him.
To say it was frustrating is putting it very mildly because you know it's the action of sucking that increases breast milk supply so I was struggling to produce milk. I ate all sorts and took all sorts, fenugreek inclusive until the milk finally dried up at 9months. But I was able to achieve our 6months exclusive breastfeeding, he got more than enough milk and we are reaping the benefits now.

So do not be depressed. It might take a little more effort since your baby is already used to bottle but keep trying with breastfeeding, expressing more frequently (3 times a day is little) and hopefully the nipple extender will also make a lot of difference.

Awesomemama:

You can gently use your fingers to bring your nipple out when you want to breastfeed
And put in baby's mouth immediately it's out, also ensure baby is properly latched.

I have inverted nipples and that's what I do when my nipples goes in to play

Thank you sabi mamas, truly a problem shared is a problem half solved.
So so grateful for the encouragement.

There are many ways to feed your baby, embrace what you can do for him now while calmly seeking solution to the issue.
Don't let depression deprive you from enjoying these early moments. You won't be able to get them back.

Flat nipples: yes some people have flat or even inverted nipples...it's nothing to worry about. They're various techniques how to breastfeed with flat/inverted nips including wearing breast shells, using breast pump or nipple enhancer to pull it out.
For the scally stuff, I think you can get nipple cream and apply as needed.

Your explanation really came at the right time.

By baby of 3 weeks is yet to suck due to this inverted/flat nipple issue.

I use breast pump at least thrice daily to extract breast milk for him and when I try to give him breast to suck the nipple disappears even immediately after stimulating using the breast pump.

Please do you know where one can get the breast shell or nipple enhancer?

Though my baby is currently on formula at the moment, it is not satisfying for me plus this is my first baby.

Please help a depressed sister.

My Birth Story.

I woke up at about 11:45pm on the 6th day of may to use the rest room and noticed the 'show'.
After cleaning up and going back to bed, I started having strong menstrual pain which came and went on intervals.

It continued till day break so I went to the hospital with my already packed bag by some few minutes past 7am. When I was checked, I was only 2cm dilated undecided.

The menstrual like pain continued until about 10 am when the bursted. By then, I was about 6cm gone. The water that bursted had meconium(the baby's poo) in it so the Dr had to quickly induce me and that's where the real deal started.

While induced, the pain came massively and I felt like urinating, pooing and vomiting at the same time. The pan I was given to throw up into became a labour tool. Once the pain comes, I'll hit the pan on the bed until it subsides. That's how the nurses named me 'Iron condemn, Aluminium condemn' cheesy

The matron came in to the labour room with a bottle of chilled coke and tried collecting the pan from me but I begged her for the coke instead. When she gave me, I drank half the bottle grin

When I was fully dilated, the strong urge to poo came and I told the matron and that was when I she gave the order to push which I did. I noticed that as I try to push, I had muscle pull which made it hard to push.

When the baby's head came out and the body could not come out after several tries, the matron decided to tear me but I struggled with her telling her I would push, not understanding the implication and the effect the baby's head hanging there could cause.

My baby stayed there for 7min and I heard the matron shout 'Jesus, Jesus' and I began to shout 'my baby will not die', 'I cannot go this far to end here'. That's when I opened my legs and she gave me the tear of my life.

I felt the strong urge to poo again and she told me to push. The other nurse applied pressure on my stomach, I pushed and the matron dragged the baby out.

My baby came out alive after hanging there for 10 minutes (the thing only God can do). The placenta also came out easily. My baby came out yellow instead of pink due to the fact that he was distressed and had ingested the amniotic fluid and meconium.

Another round of drama came when the Dr came to sew the tear. I was telling him 'Dr show me love now haba!' But he patiently explained its importance so I had to endure.

Shout out to all the women that have plenty children. Biko unu diegwu.

I will forever be grateful to God for preserving my son because he had laboured breathing 4days after birth at midnight, due to the circumstances surrounding his birth, but God showed up when we took him to the hospital.

I came out victorious with my lil prince charming weighing 4.0kg, birthed at 1:50pm on 7th May.

I recently managed to go for antenatal because of this coro fear.

Only for the Dr to say he'd give me one more week and that if the baby doesn't come he'll induce me.

I am 38 wks 3days as I write and Edd is still May 4th.

I wouldn't mind porting oh but then does induction pain more than natural labour?

I know say all pain na pain but you know some pain are more pain than the others cheesy
