Cmeo: Possibly the culprit carried arms during the robbery. In our Nigeria, armed robbery carries death penalty whether you killed/attack with the arms or not.
If the above is the case, the judge was right to give death sentence. Even if he carried arms during the robbery, he doesn't deserve capital punishment, unless he killed during the process of robbery. Judges use head to interprete the law and pronounce adequate sentences. This is no case for death sentence. |

MasterofNL: - There has been serious apprehension in many communities in Nigeria following constant invasion by herdsmen
- Benue state has been one of the most hit with many inhabitants and killed while others have become refugees
Some communities in Benue state are currently in mourning after an alleged attack by Fulani herdsmen.
Currently, not less than 30 bodies of killed indigenes and residents, including that of the secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Buruku local government area, Mr Ter Ashirga, have been recovered
The dead, according to the New Telegraph, include a tax collector and four refugees.
They were allegedly killed on Sunday at Abuku, a crossing point on River Buruku, and dumped at the bank of the river.
The APC chieftain was allegedly murdered when the Fulani herdsmen stormed his village at Mbagbaan, Tombo in Buruku. The report said he was shot alongside some of his kinsmen.
After his death, the village was razed down making many inhabitants to flee leaving their farmlands. After the attack, the herdsmen reportedly brought their cattle into the farmland to eat up what was left.
It was learnt that over 3,000 houses were deserted with the inhabitants leaving their properties and foodstuff.
The report said those who fled the troubled area are now camped in Gboko, the traditional headquarters of the Tiv nation, and Katsina-Ala, as refugees.
The scene has been visited by Governor Samuel Ortom and members of the state security and executive council for an assessment of the security and humanitarian situation.
Condemning the killing, the governor called on the people to avoid any revenge. He also called on the federal government to assist the state to end the crisis.
The governor tasked the people of the state to always report any suspicion and further attacks.

Buratai had no moral or constitutional rights as a soldier in his position to make political pronouncements like the one he did about Biafra, and for which observant FFK criticized him.
In saner climes, Buratai should have been sacked because he constitutes a danger to the armed forces he commands. Buratai's past about his choice houses in Duba. Buratai said he made money to buy the houses while serving as soldier and farmer. How could a career soldier be a commercial farmer? Education minister: lol. A career accountant heading such an impotant sector. No wonder education in Nigeria is in coma. 10. Health minister: a reverred classroom professor but definitely incompetent in managing the health sector. Old, slow in action, divisive and unreceptive to new ideas. But major issue is that the new generations of Nigerians are gradually led by Arewa to believe that Nigeria's present political structure and governance system created by Arewa soldiers is what Nigeria's founders of independent Nigeria agreed to. But the rigged political structure which left a whooping number of twenty federal units and hundreds of local government areas in the once one northern region, but allowed only seventeen federal units and fewer number of local government areas in the once two southern regions under a unitary government system, has practically chocked Nigeria to near-death. ColonelDrake: As simple as ABC...To hell with sophistication!
I saw this interesting piece on Facebook:
Today every state is allowed to have her citizen as governor and legislators with very few exemptions, but no state in Nigeria is allowed to have her citizens as the military and police chief respectively. Reason being the federal character is a perfect measure put in place to recolonizing the South by Fulani Oligarch. For those who are opened minded and are willing to understand the facts surrounding the subjugation of the Southern part of the British contraption called Nigeria, this write-up would awaken your sub- consciousness.
It was late 1967, the South couldn't unite against Gen. Gowon on his venture to invade the old Eastern region popularly known as Biafra. In recent time the narrative well accepted across Nigeria was that Ojukwu wanted South West under his territorial control which Obasanjo quelled and put an end to the civil war fiasco. And by 1970 the war was over with the slogan "no victor, no vanquish."
Unfortunately, there is a victor the Fulani Oligarch from North East Nigeria. Since this period in the history of Nigeria, the recolonization of the South was thus legalized through the binding constitution. The constitution of Nigeria from 1966 till date is 51years old, and many imagine why is it very hard to break free from this regressive, uninspiring, underdeveloping, backward, barbaric, and very corrupt document for five good decades?
There are however two-fold to examining this thought-provoking questions, and both centered around Federal character. The British colonial thugs during colonization made a decree stating that every wealth and resources across Nigeria belong to the British government, and for over two centuries 90 percent resources and wealth of Nigeria was carted away to Britain for the development of the United Kingdom. However, to maintain this fraudulent and gruesome status quo, the colonial thugs used the military, police, and paramilitary to quash all resistance, rebellion or agitation to their fraudulent rule in the three protectorates.
Apparently, after the civil war, the North upheld the unitary system with the same systemic fraud as the decree by the colonial power. The Nigeria Constitution was changed from regionalism to Unitary clearly stated every wealth and resources of the country belong to the central government, and as a result recolonized every part of Nigeria with what the foolish Yoruba leaders that Ifa, Sango and the great Gbonka Ebiri would destroy termed the spirit of the federal character.
The danger of federal character doesn't lie with revenue sharing alone. It extends to the military which made the Fulani Oligarch have their presence in every state of the country, and upon any sign of agitation, just like the British the Fulani led military would unleash mayhem on peaceful IPOB members or Yorubas just as we witnessed in the ethnic clash with their Fulani counterparts in Ile-Ife recently.
Expatiating on the federal character, the country has 36 states while every state must be represented in the military and police, and like the British, the Fulani is in full control how? It is not a hidden fact that Nigeria since the fourth republic had allowed every state to field their indigene at all political stage except Igbos who want Lagos by all means. However, a vivid look into this structure one would then argue if my state men hold all political positions in my state, why would Fulanis be controlling the military barracks across Yoruba and Igbo land ? Isn't that thought provoking? Nigeria with 36 states and 35 governors, 35 military chiefs, 35 police commissioners, and all other paramilitary parastatals, had the North with 20 out of 36, effectively manning every conquered state in the South. The effect is that if there is any form of agitation in Yoruba land, the North constantly has personnel in uniform to quell such agitation. More reason we can never break free from this constitution that Rob south to enrich the few northern elites.
In America they have 50 states, California is bigger than Nigeria, Texas is close to the size of Nigeria have you ever asked why they aren't killing each other over presidency? It is because every $ made in each state 90percent is retained for the development of the state. Most importantly the governor controls military guard 100percent. In fact, Trump needs the governor's permission to request for military assistance from the state.
But under our colonial master's everyone lives in fear, Brutai recently said people seeking to restructure Nigeria should wait for four millennia, thanks to Sultan allies across Yoruba land the Fulani keeps us subjugated. Odua ma sun o.
Source: Gbonka Ziano Ebiri Facebook handle Gbonka Ziano wasted time. So long as Yaaariba get more crumbs than the Yiiibo from One Nigeria cake, the Yoruba is satisfied with Hausa/Fulani taking 90% of the pack of cake. On top of that, Yaaariba beats his chest that Yaaariba is the most sophisticated tribe in Nigeria. Anyday Yaaariba says this is Oduduwa Republic, that day Nigeria dissolves peacefully; no more Boko Haram no more Fulani herdsmen menace, No more Ysaariba vs Hausa fight in Yaaaribaland, no more Yibooos trooping to Lagos or to other parts of the southwest. |
