1. 1+1>1, that is 2 bat3 gives you more energy for use.
2. Energy in bat3 parallel is equal to energy for bat3 in series.
If you have 12v Inverter and 12v panels (150w or 180w) with pwm charge controller or mppt with any type of panels go with 12v parallel connection,
But if you have 24v Inverter with solar panels above 24v ( 250w and above) with pwm charge controller, go for series connection.
Every type of connection has their pros and cons.
Also basic use Inverter like 1kva and below uses 12v.

No! You need good earthing/ lightning arrestor, DC breaker, SPD (surge protective device). SPD should be installed very close to the inverter charge controller and at every 30meters. So need two if the installation of panels is up to 30m

Big shout-out to Dishtech for his mentorship on my DIY journey and Pointstores for supplying the material's (portable rechargeable spot welder, battery pack case, nickel strips, BMS, wrapper etc)
I was lucky enough to get 256 original brand new Roofer 18650 2500mah battery from Alaba, expensive but worth it and a 67v lithium charger from Alaba.

I was able to build a massive 60v 40ah lithium battery back for my Electric motorcycle.
jeez, I can't count the amount of times I burnt my fingers, pocked them, bridge the wrong spot and the most annoying thing part is having to unweld all series cause I forgot to balance battery first.

all through trials and error, my bike now runs smooth, i was impressed at the speed, it's almost as fast as petrol motorcycle.
all thanks to everyone else who gave suggestions.

A total of 10 12v 12ah battery, 5 connected in series to make 60v 12ah and another 5 connected in parallel to make 12v 60ah (as external)
I have a 60v 5ah charger

I don't know if connecting 60v 12ah to 12v 60ah will give me 60v 60ah or 72v 72 ah

Also the cost of getting the lithium battery custom built is alarming, I have to spend about 400k to get the desired 60v 30 or 40 ah capacity I desire.

If I can deduce from your point, you have 10 piece of 12v/ 12ah,
5series 2parallel should be your connection to give you 60v/24ah.
For the 18650, I can build the 60v/40ah for you at a cheap price. All you need to do is send me the details of your batteries space and the maximum voltage of your system.

What I do is link only the positive poles of the cells to fuse wires (made that from 200 ohms 1w resistors). It is only those fuse wire links that are soldered onto the cells at one end and the nickel strips at the other end. The remaining connections are all made from welded nickel strips.

I tried using the spot welder to weld the resistor wire (fuse), but a lower gear is not adequate to weld. Increasing the gear to a higher one leads to the burning off of weld point on the nickel strip directly beneath the fuse wire and no weld is achieved.

What tesla did was to use Nickel strips with specific thickness to the current needed (in short, nickel strip that acts as a fuse), then use that in the spot welding process.

To use nickel strips of such diamete is some how difficult, is why am using fuse wires to link each cells.

And I think you should invest in a spot welder. I have a USB type C rechargeable one that I got for around 18k. With full charge and at mid range gear, you can weld around 200 contacts before needed recharge.

Not that I don't want to use spot welder. It was deliberate because my cells are link with fuse wires for protection if BMS failed.

Tesla doesn't use the run of the mill type of 18650, he's forever tweaking the batteries Tesla uses. Tesla did this when it introduced the 2170 cell with the Model 3 and Powerwall. This cylinder was 21 millimeters by 70 millimeters rather than the 18 by 65 dimensions of the 18650 cell.

The lithium ion batteries you mentioned has a higher energy density thus more compact but since the type is probably lithium ion it has a shorter cycle life (500 to 1000 cycles against 2500 to 3500 cycles of lifepo4) . The only disadvantage I see with running with lifepo4 prismatic cells is just bigger size and weight.

Remember as lithium ion discharges, the voltage drops which leads to the ebike running slower, but with lifepo4 prismatic cells, you have the full voltage till almost the battery cut off, so the ebike motor is almost seeing that peak voltage and thus outputs higher performance.

Also I charge my lifepo4 prismatic cell ebike battery at half the time I charge my lithium ion battery.

FYI: I've used both lithium ion and lifepo4 on an ebike, the difference is super clear.

Telsa uses 21700 battery which is a modification of 18650 to have higher energy density and reduce weight. LiFePO4 has a larger size though has higher cycle life but reduces efficiency due to total weight of the vehicle.
All battery voltage drop on usage, the voltage drop is dependant on load current and battery AH or capacity.

I think the best battery for ebike or any electric vehicle is 18650 lithium batteries. Even telsa uses it because it has higher energy capacity.
480 pieces of 2.6ah of 18650 should give you 59.2v normal voltage and 67.2 at full charge. Which is about 4617.6wh or 4.6kwh.
If you were in Abuja I would have source for the battery and make one for you.

Other info I've found:

Rated Voltage: 25.6v (what's this?)
Charging voltage: 29.2 - 30v
Cut off: 2.5v per cell ( Does that mean the BMS cutoff is 20v? Can I then set my inverter to cut off at 21v

25.6v means 3.2v per cell (normal voltage) 3.65v maximum voltage.
2.5v is the bms cutoff voltage.
Charging voltage should be 29.2volt
If you set your inverter cutoff at 21v it mean it mean you Have 89% DOD. i.e 11% remaining to be empty.
If you're inverter has editable DOD I will advise you leave 20% or 30%. i.e 21.84v or 22.76v.
If your inverter is not editable then it needs some circuit for that. or check your inverter cutoff voltage. Some 24v inverter cutoff at 21volt while some cutoff at 22v.
Cutoff mine at 24v.

It's the charge profile that I don't even know. I don't even know what voltage corresponds to battery full as these batteries don't have an indicator.

Check the battery body to see the battery voltage written on it, know whether it is 8s configuration.

A buck converter will be your best option if you are to use a 4s (16.8v) Li-ion pack. In fact using a 14s in this scenario is not a bad idea. But if your TV does well on 12v input and your DC fan does not pick up at that voltage until it gets to 14v, the two volts disparity means you will need one buck converter for each device - one set at 12v output for the TV and the second one set at 14v output for the DC fan.

You can check up on AliExpress for good buck converters.



Both Li-ion and LFP are good chemistries with appreciable life cycle. Li-ion initially has much less cycles (around 2500) than LFP but new improvements have significsntly extended that, though not at par with the 4000 cycles boasted by LFP yet.

Li-ion has significantly more energy density than LFP such that Tesla and some other BEV makers prefer to use it for their high performance trims where rapid rush/drawing of electric current is required. However Li-ion is less safer than LFP with the risk of fires. But even fire risk with Li-ion is significantly low with use of proper Battery Management System devices.



I guess you have a typo there. What he requires is a buck converter to bring 16.8v down to lower voltages.

I can't guarantee you that because most electronic has a maximum high voltage tolerance level. I can advise you to make a different power bank for the fan with 4s lithium battery and 3s for the TV. You can equally buy a boost converter

The Maximum charging voltage.
If Li ion battery= 4.2 x 4= 16.8 but if LiFeO4= 3.65 x 4=14.6 but you can charge Li ion at 4x4= 16v, and LiFeO4 at 3.5x4= 14volt. Because lithium batteries are not to left on a peak voltage of 4.2v and 3.65v per cell of Li ion and LiFeO4 respectively.

thanks for the reply, the tv is led and on power saver mode generating only 92watts sef, my lights are led lights with 4watts each and about 4 -6 are regularly on. the panels are not felicity brands... and i dont think its canadian mono either but they are mono panels.... im lost like that, im a big novice with anger issues. when I was using light to charge, the 4 batteries always last me nothing less than 20-24hrs without any charge and i dont even allow it to fully deplete before switching off and i just installed the panels last week.... just this last week. paid through my nose sef

You have not been able to show us your setup. Many things are involved:
1. Cable sizes/distance of installation
2. Angle/direction of installation
3. Wrong name plate of the panels.
so it's not because it is Felicity.
I just corrected wrong installation today with so many flaws.

Live + & Neutral - outputs from the 2 inverters are they connected together to give a single output or only the neutrals - are connected and the two live + are connected differently?

Connecting the inverter in parallel is difficult except the inverter has the facility to synchronize the phase difference, but you can use the two inverter simultaneously by properly sharing the load among the two inverter but using the same battery bank.

On our Epever charge controller,it's 57.3v.My confusion is how to know the 50% DOD voltage for the battery so i won't allow it drain below that.

At 50% DOD battery should be 12.06v x 4 =48.24v.

The down side of lithium battery or any other batteries is discharging it below safe value. Lithium battery should not be discharged below 2.5v and 2.84-3v for LiFeO4 and lithium ion batteries respectively. In making a diy battery, measure must be in place to check the undervoltage. Your battery may be dead, check each individual cell voltage if they are not below 1.5v they is chance of waking up. Charge individual cell with 4volt while observing the progress.
Secondly what do you mean by light board? Is it the BMS board?
