CareerRe: Geophysicists, Geologists, & Petroleum Engineers: Professionals & Aspirants by dives(m): 8:26pm On May 02, 2015
Good day everyone. I have been following this thread for a while and i believe i would be able to get the best advice here. Please my friend and i are looking for internship slots. WE ARE REALLY AFTER THE EXPERIENCE AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN FROM PROFESSIONAL HANDS AND DO NOT MIND AN UNPAID INTERNSHIP. I am a geologist and he is an engineer. While i am in search of a mudlogger position he is in search of a roustabout position.

Having attended seminars and workshops, my friend and i are very familiar with rig operations and are fast learners as well. I strongly believe catching up would not be an issue.

Please we need advice on companies we can approach that READILY take interns. Any link to any of these companies would be much appreciated as well.

Thank you.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Forum For Drilling Rig Jobs by dives(m):
onyefin:
I've observed that rig workers are set of employee sourced and recruited secretly. Leaving many intending and interested seekers with less information on how to go about getting one.
Drilling Jobs are one of the most challenging jobs that require strength and experience in addition to trainings depending on the kind position such as:
1. Roustabout
2. Floor hand
3. Derick
4. Mud men
5. Electrician/Chief Electrician
6. Mechanic/Chief Mechanic
7. Medic
8. Safety officer
9. Clerk
10. Drillers/Assistant Driller
11. Tool pusher

Most times third party contractors are involved in sourcing for these workers and further i details shows that this agents have no address and point were applications could be submitted, restricting selections to who you know in the industry.
With the changes in the hydrocarbon industries and government power, new Rigs are expected to commence jobs soon, hence I created this post to initiate posting of these jobs here to help interested applicants get their desired job.

*** Note*** Offshore and Onshore jobs are welcomed.
Thank you for this post. For months now i have been trying to search the internet for ROUSTABOUT but i don't see adverts. Their adverts are QUITE RARE on the internet. It is more like they don't advertise these jobs.

I am a fresh graduate geologist with no experience and i am looking for a FREE/UNPAID intern position to gain hands on experience.

I believe this post would be very useful. PLEASE ANYBODY WITH A LINK CAN GET ME THROUGH

100 seater modern library? Wow! I must commend your project; very impressive. Please I'll like to know how you went about it from getting approval to generating funds then to mobilising the workforce. I am currently the cds president of Environmental protection and sanitation in my PPA and I'll like to impact on my LG and I am thinking of cleaning up a contaminated borehole in my area. Thanks
IslamRe: .. by dives(op):
tbaba1234: The issue is not about who cooks for you, it is about this relationship. This arrangement is playing with the haram.

The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) told us that whenever a man and a woman are together, shaytan is the third.
I understand this very well and I am taking extra caution this ramadhan. since ramadhan has started we rarely see except if need be and I try to make it when I have broken my fast. I am even planning on continuing such after ramadhan (seeing her less often)

What I am really concerned about this moment is who can cook for me because not only her has offered to cook for me. Not only fellow female corpers who are nothing more than my fellow corpers but also a married woman who I work with has also offered me food they have prepared themselves.

I just want to be sure of what I eat so I don't spoil my fasting

Ok let me rephrase the question to reduce the ambiguity

Can a non mahram cook for me during ramdhan? Yes/No

If yes does having feelings for this non-mahram nullify the fact that she can cook for me? Yes/No
IslamRe: .. by dives(op): 2:11pm On Jul 01, 2014
maclatunji: This bros. is playing with "fire" (figuratively). The vibes from this particular arrangement are just wrong. The one Sissie is talking about usually comes in the form of a community. E.g. Students, corpers etc. Not this one of one-of-one with feelings attached. #OdikwaRisky
Actually we are both corpers. She likes me, I like her, we are "very fond" of each other but we are NOT dating.
IslamRe: .. by dives(op): 2:08pm On Jul 01, 2014
Sissie: Yes she can.
I have seen situations especially in the University where females cook and give males because of the reward and it's more convenient for the male compared to going to the restaurant especially when he can't cook

But my problem with this your situation is this is not a no strings attached kind of situation. A female doing it for the reward but doing it to please you. And in the process of bringing your iftar to you, some other rules can be broken.
Jazaaka LLahu khairan but I don't really get you. Let me rephrase the question for you.

Can I eat the food of a non-mahram during ramadhan? No/Yes.

if yes does having feelings for this my non-mahram still make it non- permissble for her to cook for me eventhough we are NOT dating?
No/yes
IslamRe: .. by dives(op): 10:53am On Jul 01, 2014
tbaba1234: Haram? No

I have only said that this arrangement is inapproptiate. I do not make halal or haram judgements.

Will 'just a muslim sister' decide to cook your meals everyday at no cost to you?

There is something else that inspires that and given the fact that she is non mahram, it is unhealthly that you meet all the time to eat her food.
Ok so if I understand you well what you are saying is even if the sister is doing it as an act of charity it is not clearly stated that it is haram but is not advisable since she is a non-mahram.

By the way (within your scope of knowledge) do you know any hadith or qur'anic verse that talks about who a man can eat from.
IslamRe: .. by dives(op): 10:24am On Jul 01, 2014
Sheenor: that to be sincere, i dont know.
May Allah reward you for your efforts
IslamRe: .. by dives(op): 10:17am On Jul 01, 2014
tbaba1234: Wa aleikum salam,
Wa iyyakum
I think, your problem is beyond iftar meals.
This dating, you talk about. Do you know that bf-gf relationship is haram?
Are you planning to get married to this woman? How soon do you think you can move forward with that?
Do you observe limits in your interaction?
She is non-muslim, how importantly do you take your Islam? What about your future children?
The issue of a non mahram preparing your meals in this setting is not correct
Thanks brother. Are you categorically saying it is haram for me to eat the food prepared by a non-mahram during ramadhan even if she is "just a muslim sister" ex a classmate? Can you please expantiate.

Hello house. I heard the institute of petroleum studies in Uniport is one of the most if not the most recognised to get a masters degree in petroleum geosciences from. Ok what is the fate of those who do not meet their admission requirements i.e a second class upper grade (2:1)? Is there any other institute/university in the Niger Delta that these oil companies highly recon with? Does this institute offer an Msc degree in petroleum geoscience?
RomanceRe: Please Guys Never Marry A Virgin/inexperienced Woman by dives(m): 9:17am On Jan 03, 2014
OP are you saying that a married lady who married as a virgin is more likely to test another joystick (in other words cheat) than an experienced lady if the conditions are right?. Taaa!!! c'mon shurrup i don't believe your theory undecided. I would only believe you if you send your virgin younger sister to my house so that when she is married she would not be inexperienced and there would be less chances for her to try another joystick. grin undecided

imag5: that's the Nigeria factor for you,but you can be doing MSC while searching for job all I want from you there is not to leave any vaccum space in your life....you don't have a job and you are not doing something tangible it really disastrous, my dear come to ph,even if you have to teach it does not stop you from networking... MSC in geology or geophysics is not a child's play with that you can get a job easily, cos with MSC you only need one year working experience, so while searching for job do something tangible, I know of a guy while teaching in a private sec sch in pH and also doing is MSC got his first oil job with Drill pet limited immediately he finished his MSC...don't give up pH is cool, delta is relatively cool, akwaibom is cool...so it ur choice, choose wisely, patience is key.....,imag
Thanks a lot man. I really appreciate your comments. Like how much does it cost to run an Msc in uniport?
CareerRe: Geophysicists, Geologists, & Petroleum Engineers: Professionals & Aspirants by dives(m): 8:48am On Dec 31, 2013
imag5: Yes it not a myth you got to teach
Secondly without connection hmmm, well the best strategy is to get MSC form in uni port, the only school in Niger delta closer to oil coy in Nigeria, you get to meet people in the industry and also lecturers having contract with oil coy,u help them to handle project and so many,u go to nape monthly meeting at presidential hotel in pH and u meet professional.... So many ways there,I know of people coming to pH to served just to have a feel of our the industry is regardless of teaching.....my dear the only good place in nd to served is PH over 3000oil coys both multi and local and remember this patience is key......imag
It is not a myth?? mehnnn datz really so heartbreaking. Soo with over 3000 oil coys, not even the local ones are ready to take in extra hands to help younger generation in career growth even without pay? Wow! getting a masters is not a bad idea too but IMO i think i would prefer getting an oil coy experience before going for masters, that way one can get to see what area one would really want to specialize in. BTW geology is a practical course, why know all the theory without knowing the practical? I think that's why even with a masters these oil coys still send you for some months training to teach you what really matters. Also even with a masters these people still ask you for at least one year O&G experience. This experience thing in the Nigerian system is really quite sickening. What about Akwa Ibom or Delta state, Any possible prospects?
CareerRe: Geophysicists, Geologists, & Petroleum Engineers: Professionals & Aspirants by dives(m): 1:04pm On Dec 30, 2013
Hello peeps how are we all doing? Complements of the season. I need your candid advice please. Just graduated from geology and am thinking of "runsing" my service to the Niger delta so as to get a first hand oil and gas experience but i don"t know if it's a good choice as i hear all corpers that are posted to PH for example are all compelled to teach. Is this fact true or itz just a myth. Secondly, I really want to know please how easy is it getting an oil and gas experience in the niger delta as a graduate of geology without using connections. (I really don't mind ifi am going to be doing a free job, i value the experience more than the money). Thirdly any suggestions of companies that are willing to accept corpers, (not necessarily in PH but the ND region as a whole now). Please i"d like to hear your honest and sincere suggestions please. Am all ears
CareerRe: Subsea, Mud, Reservoir, Pipeline, Petroleum, Drilling Engineers & Supervisors Zone by dives(m): 4:51pm On Dec 20, 2013
Hello house. I am a graduate of geology who finished with a 2:2 (something am not proud of because it has really hindered my moving forward in so many ways). I have always admired engineering but i settled for geology because my teacher back then in school told me i was not good in mathematics. Ironically i had distinctions in maths and further maths when i took my my WAEC. Even in my undergraduate days in geology i did way better in the courses that involved calculations and analytical reasoning than those that were the conventional "cram and pour". I think am more attracted to things that are a bit challenging and involves mathematics.

Ok i love dreaming big huh and now i "think" i would be better of as an engineer (than a geologist) and i "wish" to do an M.Sc in reservoir engineering outside Nigeria if possible but securing a scholarship has not been too easy with a 2:2. (I am still a hustler so no money to pay the exorbitant fees sad grin. Please I would like to know,
1. Is there a possibility of me crossing over?
2. Can anyone suggest a school abroad that "may" offer full scholarship to someone with a 2:2 and coming from a non-engineering background?
3. How easy would it be for me to cope considering the fact that am from a non-engineering background?
RomanceRe: What Do You Ladies Really Want From Men? by dives(m): 3:53pm On Dec 12, 2013
crackhaus: I once dated a girl who kept complaining that I don't encourage her to spend the night at my off-campus residence when I was in school. #EncouragementStarted

After spending five nights and having sexx one time out of the five, she started complaining that I wasn't finding her attractive enough. #OperationIfindYouAttractiveStarted

My hormones now on rampage, she started complaining of how I never want to stay up to gist but only want to do it and sleep off from my stress. #UnnecessaryGistingStarted

When she kept gisting about her friends & their boyfriends/fiances, about the guys who constantly ask her out, about the clothes and colour she will wear to the next event she'll attend, and about the new girl in the compound who she thought I was eyeing....I told her its better we spent less nights together because I needed to be reading (just an excuse). She agreed!

But guess what, this whole complain started over again from the top.... Now tell me, what did she really want out of the night time stay?

...Some ladies here will be thinking, "ooh I don't do all that, I'm too busy and mature and bla bla bla...". Well I put it to you guys that a mature 35yr old career woman is only different from a 20-something year old in her ability to keep quiet.
The moment a 35yr old woman opens her mouth to talk or complain, she says and thinks in the exact same way her 20-something year old counterparts do
. #TrueStory

Are they the only ones on earth. We can never understand someone perfectly but we can almost perfectly understand them.

I think I'll feel better seeing a topic on how to try to understand insane people, depressed humans or even kids than seeing this Shii everyday. WTF
