You were the one who asked me which book gave rise to the inventions of today, stop being brainwashed by your imaam. You are wrong Islam contributed a lot to development In mathematics they contributed tremendously. Why do you think Arabic numbers in maths In medicine they contributed a lot. Medieval Europe plenty of there populations were wiped out by plagues such as black death etc but the Arabs had medicinal antidote to many of these plagues. The Europeans copied those medicine from them. In architecture and engineering designs they had better ones than medieval Europe. Actually what gave Europe the edge was the industrial revolution that helped them invent things 700 years ago especially the British. Inventions like steam engine which was used in building steam vessel ships that can travel over the ocean to distant lands in the Americas, Africa and far away Australia. They conquered far away distant lands. Steam engine was also used in building early railways. It was industrial revolution that gave Europeans the edge, before there was not much difference between them and the Arabs |

Every country have there golden generation Example Belgium present generation of footballers are called there golden generation but still they have won nothing Spain's golden generation won Euro 2008 and 2010 world cup Dutch first golden generation was the of Johan Cruyff of the 1970s yet they won nothing Johan Cruyff was the footballer that invented the tiktak Barca played especially from pep guardiola era Dutch's second golden generation consisting of players like Marco van basten, Rudd gulit, clivert, Clarence seedorf, Edgar David's, Dennis bergkamp all but won nothing A golden generation mayvwin or not win trophies. naijapips04: Peter Obi has never visited The experience in his life except this year that he is campaigning. Typical Nigerian politician.
The most disgusting thing about this man is that he has no respect for god and only sees the church as a means to attain his personal selfish ambition.
These are the charlatans Jesus chased from the church premises. The church is spiritual and shouldn't be used by politicians for things like this. You will never Muslims do this. No wonder the church is losing respect by the day. Peter Obi has always related well with pastor Paul adefarasin. 2017 when Bishop t d Jakes came to house on the rock Lagos. Peter Obi was there live for the two days. I saw him personally He has always related with well known pastors like pastor poju oyemade etc And truly many pastors are supporting him from pastor Sarah omoku, Paul enenche, yinka Yusuf etc The church has borne the brunt of this disaster of APC government debacle. So they see him as a very good alternative 80% of pastors are supporting him come add Catholic Church which Peter Obi carry for head then majority of Christian voters are supporting Peter Obi In addition Peter Obi is not a charterlan. Peter Obi is one of the most upright men I have known. Peter Obi made me to believe that practicing Catholics sometimes are better Christians in being upright. He has been a man I have always looked up as a role model many years back. He is extremely wealthy, but down to Earth, humble, meek man. Many Christians should emulate a man like Peter Obi. You think the craze people have for him are just noise. Know they have seen that this man is a good man. Very upright Man. The kind of man Nigeria needs |

SmartyPants: That's short term thinking. Sooner or later all these countries will swing heavily to the political right and push these migrants out. Then we will all be forced to do at last, what we ought to have done at first. Story Why is the US the most successful country in the world? They know the importance and value of the right immigration. Many Western countries are copying them from Canada to UK, Australia etc More productive citizens of poor African countries will be attracted to these Western countries. |

Gerrard59: The surprising thing people don't know about development...no developed society got to where she is by being divided. If there is no racial superiority/dominance, there is ethnic dominance. The level of development a country has today is based on the cultural characteristics of her dominant ethnic/racial group and how cohesive or divided the society is. It is why South Korea is far more developed than Malaysia or Chile is more developed than Brazil. The more divided a society is along ethnic/racial/religious lines, the poorer and less developed she becomes.
In summary, as long as Nigeria is divided - religiously and ethnically - she would never become developed or prosperous. The bolded is very true about Nigeria The country will never be developed and the more she will loose her productive citizens to Western countries who are now seeing the value these productive citizens are adding to there economy. Canada started it and it's been a huge success. Now UK, Australia and many developed Western countries are keying in taking the most productive of our country. Canada even increased the quota for immigration for the next five years. |

Pierocash: you make me laugh. You say there can never be such people whose standard of living are higher than those abroad? Those ibo guys that sells spare parts are way richer than most of their counter parts abroad,(aside the ones into drug) they don't make pounds or dollar here, but way richer than most Naija youths abroad.
You said 4k pounds is 4 million, Yes you are right. But someone making a million naira here will live a more comfortable life than that person earning 4k pounds abroad. only a single room apartment there will cost almost a thousand pounds a month, electricity bills , phone bills ,and the rest tax may gulp another 1k5 pounds. What is left.
You better don't be fooled by exchange rate It's not every place in the UK that have high rents. London have high expensive rent but in the Midlands rent is very cheap food is very affordable. The person can live off on 2700 pounds tax inclusive and still save over a thousand pounds. Why do you think many bankers and other professionals japad in the past couple of years to the UK, US, Canada etc? Because they checked what they are earning here and compared to even a manual laborer abroad it was rubbish. So they relocated My sister was a manager in a big firm in Lagos she relocated to Canada with her husband and children since 4 years ago. Today she is working in a very big firm in Canada My best man a pharmacist left for Canada first week of January this year. He didn't tell anyone. He came back in October to see his very sick mum, told me he will visit again next Easter. He has settled very fine over there My brother's account officer of his Bank relocated to the UK with his wife and children If you know the number of professionals that have left Nigeria in this Buhari period you will be shocked. Nigerian Banks have been hardly hit. Why do you think this Agbaje and Amosun them are complaining? Those overseas country are offering them better pay and good standard of living While this present APC government has messed up the economy. I have activated my own Japa plans the only thing that will make me stay back is if Peter Obi wins this election if not I don go be that and likewise many people I know. This 2023 election is very dicey for Nigeria. Many young enterprising Nigerians will give up on this country if the wrong person takes over. It will be calamitous for this Nation. |
Travel › Re: Japa: Nigerian Elite’s Disconnect From Reality – The Segun Agbaje Example by djon78(m): 2:18pm On Nov 18, 2022 |
Pierocash: .People like you are the reasons young Nigerians don't think they can make it in Nigeria.
What Agbaje pointed out is nothing but the truth. How will a bank executive resign her position and relocated to become a health care assistant and all you could do is to justify it by saying she earns a decent pay. What kind of life is she living there and how much does she earns? You are talking of fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram, those people running away from Nigeria are not even in there region of bandits and Boko Haram, these are Southerners using Boko Haram as the excuse to japa only to end up with lower standard of living, while those who are directly affected are not even considering japa as an option.
People tend to use exchange rate to measure wealth, but you are wrong. Exchange rate is not and indices to measure standard of living. You measure standard of living using what is called PPP(Purchasing price/power parity). That is what is used to determine standard of living not exchange rate. There are people in Nigeria here who have never touched dollar or pounds in their life ,but have higher standard of living that so many of their counter parts abroad.
Quit this your japa mentality and build yourself here, there is honey and gold in Nigeria here. You can't convince someone like me to japa,I will rather go there to invest and return home just to spread my business nothing more.
I stand with Agbaje. I disagree with the bolded They can never have higher standard of living than those abroad. Even with the basic minimum wage overseas you can have a well affordable food, pay your rent and other bills and still save a bit with that small job. Example in UK plumbers, Carpenters, bricklayers and all these menial jobs earn decent pay up to 4000 pounds a month Its almost 4 million Naira in Nigeria with exchange rate That amount will properly take care of them. And they will still send something home A woman I got to know was working in Nigerian civil service on level 13. She was fortunate to travel to the US when her department were put for a conference in the US. Fortunately she got Visa and traveled The Lady stayed a bit and was doing minial Job, after working few weeks she discovered that what she made in 6 weeks was more than her annual salary in Nigeria. The Lady decided it was over that she will never return to Nigeria. This was a level 13 officer for civil service. How much those that never reach that level. Abroad offers better opportunities. People still make it here, but the suffering and pain is too much. |

By the way, I know the English language might not his mother tongue, but I can't but keep wondering what Obi must have learnt in primary school if he still has no idea of when to use 'does' instead of 'do'.
