more on the interior,..At first the design looks rather conventional, but if you delve a little deeper you’ll notice that the center column’s interface is actually a hologram.

If W Motors manages to pull it off, the Lykan Hypersport could potentially be the first car to feature an interactive holographic display system. Some of the functions it will include are adjustment of the audio and navigation settings as well as a media player.

The cabin also features plenty of carbon fiber, and W Motors promises materials such as titanium and precious gem stones as well. More gem stones, in this case, diamonds, will be used for detailing in the full-LED headlights.

With a diamond encrusted gear stick and golden stitching, the Lykan Hypersport comes with a price tag of $3.4 million.

The extreme 2-seat coupe features diamond-encrusted light-emitting-diode lighting, a gold-plated hood and a holographic display on the windshield, the auto maker says.

The LykanHypersport will be powered by a mid-mounted flat-6 (boxer) Iturbi engine provided by German specialist RUF Automobile. Sources say the engine delivers 750 hp and 738 lb.-ft. (1,000 Nm) of torque, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 242 mph (390 km/h).

Autos › Wow!!!!!..see Cars Covered In Gold Coins In Dubai by dlox147(op): 7:12am On Mar 23, 2013
Throughout the streets of Dubai and Abu Dhabi it is very hard to make your car stand out, even if you are driving the latest Porsche, Ferrari or Lambo. With the countless other expensive rides lining the streets, doing a little something extra to stop traffic has reached new heights.

A Dubai-based car tuning company called Cars Coin has found a way to make customers’ vehicles “shine as if they were made of diamonds.”

How do they do this?

They simply cover the cars in tens of thousands of modern and antique coins. Although people in UAE most likely aren’t short on cash, to ensure that people don’t try and steal the coins from this flashy masterpiece, the company used coins that are no longer in circulation.

Photos of their latest creation, a 2013 Range Rover covered in more than 57,412 old Dirham coins have been making the rounds on the internet.

The artists that work at Cars Coin typically spend a few weeks working on just one car to glue each coin by hand to its body. They even make sure to include flags of the various Arab countries on the vehicles and cover the windows with posters of their leaders.

This blinged-out SUV isn’t their only accomplishment, either. In 2011, they showed off a Mercedes Benz G55 AMG, which was covered in 47,000 shiny currency.

We highly doubt any of you would be interested in covering your daily driver in coins, but if you are – the guys over at Cars Coin are available for commission work. They can make any dream a reality.

Education › 5 Words That Make You Sound Stupid by dlox147(op): 6:32am On Mar 23, 2013
Actually – The literal meaning of this word signifies that something is present or exists in reality, but it is often used incorrectly to add an extra punch to the sentence.

Basically – This word should be used to signify a simple or fundamental point, instead people often use it incorrectly in a statement to add weight and instill a sense of finality.

Honestly – Often times people use this word to add either authority or amazement to their statements. Its correct usage adds meaningful honesty to what the speaker is saying.

Like – Okay, we’re admittedly guilty of this one. We just can’t seem to shake this filler word, which was adapted into our vernacular after movies and shows like Valley Girl and Clueless introduced us to the so-called ‘Val Speak.’ Just like “um,” we involuntarily slip the word into our conversations, but it should be used when describing something that has the same form or character as something else.

Literally – This often used crutch word can irritate scrupulous listeners, as the incorrect usage of the adverb can render a statement senseless. The word is supposed to describe something in a strict manner without exaggeration, instead speakers often use it in figurative or hyperbolic sentences.

rainbowman: I don't normally comment on this trend but its becoming alarming the way we have chosen to rain all manners of abuses upon our President. Firstly, there is this erroneous impression that the President has not done anything, however, for the first time in a long time we have inter-state rail transport, while some of you would say you want electric bullet trains without asking previous leaders why not an inch was added to the railway lines since independence till date. We have 15 of our airports being upgraded at the same time, this is no mean feat, I work for an international organization where it has taken 3 years just to build one mini terminal without hope of conclusion yet in sight. We have seen reforms in the agricultural sector. I have seen deliberate moves geared at reforming our power sector through privatisation, construction of IPPs and renovation of downed power stations. I have seen construction works on so many roads that were hitherto abandoned. I agree that the President may not be our version of President Palmer of the 24 series but he is working and yet a lot of Nigerians do not respect that. Its a shame really. As for the BH phenomenan, its a shame really but I can say the President is dealing with it in line with global best practices, do you expect to negotiate with terrorist, I can tell you that I have experience BH first hand and there is nothing political about what they hope to achieve, these guys are terrorists and their only objective is to die fighting. P/s monitor the world news during a BH major attack and note the similarities with other attacks worldwide. Nuff said

Business › Local Oil Firms Win 87 Per Cent Of Industry Contracts by dlox147(op): 5:25am On Feb 04, 2013
Posted by The ENGINEERING NETWORK Team on January 25, 2013 at 7:46am in Engineering News

THE push to ensure Nigerian companies execute most contracts in the nation’s oil and gas sector is yielding positive results as indigenous firms have won about 87 per cent of contracts in the sector in the last one year.

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, who stated this in Abuja at a meeting of the governing council of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), said insistence on the usage of Nigerians in the industry has deepened the local supply chain.
The Minister, who is also the Chairman of the council, maintained that the rare feat is a first step towards domiciliation of spend and local value addition.

Her words: “The board has to a large extent achieved consensus in most aspects of Nigerian Content implementation to the extent that there has been no major dispute amongst stakeholders on interpretation of provisions of the Nigerian Content Law.

“Stakeholders are also responding positively to the need to do things differently in the industry, for the benefit of all. This clearly demonstrates that we have been carrying the industry along in the implementation of the Act.”

Alison-Madueke also assured that the Federal Government will continue to support the Board and its numerous local value addition initiatives, aimed at
deepening indigenous participation in the industry.

The Minister also stated that specific provision have been inserted in the Petroleum Industry Bill which is pending before the National Assembly that will ensure that the Nigerian oil and gas industry Content Development Act were safeguarded in a bid to sustain the momentum that has been achieved in Nigerian Content.

“The PIB is now in the National Assembly and should provide the needed impetus for additional investments in the industry. This should be a major benefit for the capacity we are building in the local industry,” she said.
She also revealed that the implementation of the Act has increased industry man-hours performed by Nigerians by over 350 per cent resulting in over 30,000 direct productive jobs.

The jobs were generated in engineering, fabrication, exploration and production, marine transportation and logistics sectors, which had been developed to become more robust.

She expressed optimism that the job growth trajectory will not only be sustained, but also drive multipliers across industries following the integration of youths training into the implementation process.
“I have no doubt that more jobs will be created in 2013 and we shall achieve greater localization of industry services, manufacturing and fabrication in 2013,” she added.

In his contributions, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB Ernest Nwapa explained that the Nigerian Content implementation model is focused on growing and utilizing in-country capacity, while operators are made to consider long term value addition.
He added that under the model, government might get slightly lower revenue but this will be compensated with a higher in-country value and greater attention to life cycle of industry operations.

While acknowledging progress on the quantum of contracts awarded to Nigerians, the Executive Secretary stressed that real Nigerian Content can only grow if Nigerian companies that win contracts procure items from Nigeria and execute the jobs in-country.

To grow real Nigerian Content, Nwapa said the industry must focus more on manufacturing, bringing back the bulk of fabrication jobs that are done in foreign countries and ensuring that pipes, valves, fittings and related equipment are procured from Nigeria.

He stated that appreciable progress had been recorded in fabrication and engineering, noting that similar growth must be achieved in the manufacturing sector as most of the valves, pumps, oil and gas equipment are still imported.

He explained: “We have started creating the platform to ensure that components of these equipment can be done here, even if we cannot manufacture the whole equipment here. With the support of the minister, we have also issued guidelines that require any new project to create some legacy facilities. We have been able to get commitments from international operating companies on FPSO integration facilities, dockyards, umbilical manufacturing and fabrication yards.”

He further hinted that in order to grow participation of the oil producing communities, the Board will organize Original Equipment Manufacturers/Small and Medium Enterprises fairs in the oil producing states which will result in the selection of serious local SMEs for integration into the equipment components manufacturing schemes.

The NCDBM boss said the Board will also collaborate with state governments to create industrial clusters to accommodate such enterprises.

TV/Movies › Nollywood Movies Debuts On American Cable Networks by dlox147(op): 6:48pm On Jan 28, 2013
A welcomed innovation in the entertainment industry is here, as Nollywood movies will now be available on major cable television networks in the U.S. courtesy of Brandcast Media, Inc. Nollywood, the leader in the African movie industry, is currently the third-largest producer of feature films in the world, ranking only behind Hollywood in the United States and India’s Bollywood as number two.

Viewers of Time Warner, Cox, partners and affiliate cable television networks will now be able to watch Nollywood movies On-Demand starting February 1st, 2013. This will be a boon to millions of cable subscribers of various cultural orientations in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.

With the addition of Nollywood movies to Cable TV content, Brandcast Media, Inc. aims to generate crossover appeal through the exposure of this unique content to over 40 million North American homes. The movies are carefully selected high quality titles that will end the usual buyer’s remorse viewers experience with some Nollywood movies they purchase without preview.

There will be no endless parts, just one complete uninterrupted movie viewing experience. With Cable, Nollywood fans that usually watch the movies online will have no concerns about Internet speed or buffering, just when the viewer is being captivated by the movie. About 80% of the movies to be shown on ‘Nollywood Hits’ have never been seen.

Some of the high quality productions to be featured on Nollywood Hits On Demand include ‘Somewhere in Africa’, ‘Mind Games’, ‘Unwanted Guest’, ‘Married But Living Single,’ etc., and will feature notable actors in the Nollywood Industry such as Genevieve Nnaji, Van Vicker, Funke Akindele, Majid Michel, Joke Silva, Omotola Jalade Ekehinde, Yvonne Nelson, and so many more.

“The distribution of Nollywood movies on major Cable networks in the U.S. is the next logical stage in the growth of the Nollywood Movie Industry. It’s a dream come true for the many talents in the industry and the vindication of a culture often marginalized in the western market; a real chance for bilateral acculturation and the consequent achievement of crossover appeal for the movies as a cultural export from Africa. Now the world will see the real life and style of Africa in the comfort of their homes”. – Perry Umoh, President & CEO, Brandcast Media Inc.

As a legitimate global distribution channel, Nollywood on major cable television networks will be an emergent answer to Nollywood’s rampant piracy and lack of investment and theatrical release interest. Nollywood’s presence on U.S. cable network giants will impact positively the industry’s revenue growth and address existing piracy issues. These select Nollywood movies will be available On Demand at $3.95 each.

The Nigerian Army last night said as the fourth-best military in global peacekeeping operation, it has no difficulties moving to Mali to restore peace there. In a reaction to a news story by The Guardian of London newspaper, Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Army, Col. Mohammed Yerima, told THISDAY that the story was intended by the newspaper to diminish “the successes recorded by Nigeria in peacekeeping operations.”

The Guardian had alleged that the state of the Nigerian Army has delayed plans for a military intervention in Mali. It also claimed that the country’s army lacks the capability to fight on the frontline. But Yerima said the story was a complete underestimation of the strength of the Nigerian Armed Forces and what the service could do.

He said: “I read the story. At first, I was to issue an official reaction. But I dropped the idea, because the news story was foolish. The newspaper deliberately turned truth on its head.” He further said: “There is no force on the West African sub-region that can match Nigeria’s capability. We restored peace in both Liberia and Sierra-Leone. We are at the moment maintaining peace in parts of the country. “Our training programmes are going on as scheduled and we also have modern equipment, as an army,” Yerima added.

He advised foreign media organisations to seek clarification about Nigeria’s military capability to avoid misleading the world. He also reiterated Nigeria’s standpoint on global peace and added that the country’s armed forces are ready and capable of effective peace operations in any part of the sub-region.

The newspaper had reported that Nigerian army’s Mali mission had been stalled following doubts of its operational capability. According to the story, “A senior source in Mali told The Guardian that a lack of training and discipline among Nigerian troops – who are being heavily relied on by regional bloc Ecowas to oust Islamists in control of northern Mali – is becoming increasingly apparent.

“The Nigerian army is in a shocking state. In reality there is no way they are capable of forward operations in Mali - their role is more likely to be limited to manning checkpoints and loading trucks. “The Nigerian forces lack training and kit, so they simply don’t have the capability to carry out even basic military manoeuvres. They have poor discipline and support. They are more likely to play a behind-the-scenes role in logistics and providing security.”
