gsk4reality: What are the examples of marketable courses you can study in the UK with high possibilities of securing a tier 2 visa?
I intend studying Petroleum and Gas Engineering....what are the chances of securing a job after study?
And again.. Which courses are in high demand over there apart from the medical and health related courses. Any help will be appreciated . I like the fact that you are emphasising on Tier 2. Many people here are focused on getting student jobs and PSW. PSW and student jobs does not lead to permanent residency. However, Tier 2 and the recently announced UK post Brexit immigration ( to begin in 2021) can lead to permanent residency. SO HOW CAN I GET TIER 2 VISA? 1. To get Tier 2 visa, the employer must be registered in the government tier 2 sponsored list which gets updated. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-of-licensed-sponsors-workers.So if you are applying to companies that is not on the sponsored list, then you cannot have Tier 2 visa. 2. The minimum threshold limit is 30000 pounds for graduate role. This limit is higher for experienced role. What this means is that your Tier 2 employer must pay an annual salary of 30,000 pounds above. This is very hard. Even fresh doctors and nurses (entry level) according to NHS payment scale do not earn 30,000 pounds annually. WHAT TO DO TO MAKE YOU SECURE TIER 2 VISA AND UK POST BREXIT IMMIGRATION Try to apply for jobs in the shortage occupation lists: Chef, Geologists, Mechanical Engineers, Civil Engineers, IT, Teachers (science, maths and physics teachers) and many others. Check the below link for more information: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-k-shortage-occupation-listThe advantage of working in any of the occupation in the shortage lists is that the minimum threshold is reduced. This will allow you to be more employable. Also, for the UK Post Brexit immigration ( to begin in 2021), those in the above shortage lists will be awarded more points. Good luck and take care. |

Mrtush: Thank you for your response!
Yes I'm going for the two years course particularly for the PSW and also to acquire international work experience during my vocational internship. I don't have experience tough tbh but I don't mind as I will eventually acquire that from my internship.
Thanks once again. I'm very grateful. If you apply for one year MSc beginning in September 2020, you will still get PSW. What you should aim for is Tier 2 or UK post brexit immigration which can lead to permanent residence. Check my below quote on gsk4reality comments. |

Mrtush: Greetings and you all..
Thanks to everyone that has contributed positively and has made a huge impact on this forum.
I have a question, I've been admission to study Project management with advanced practice in Teesside Uni. 2 years. I've done the Skype interview and passed. Now my resumption date is September 21st. I have a background in civil engineering as It was my undergraduate course.
I'd like see advice and opinion from gurus in the house. What do you think the job prospects will be for one who has Msc in Project management?
What other Msc course in the U.K that has a high job prospect and is highly demanded.
As I still have more time to quickly apply to others.
I'd appreciate if it's a two years program.
Thank you. Why do you want two years course? If it is because of PSW, you will be qualified if you begin your program September 2020 Project Management is hotcake. Information Technology (IT) and Business Analyst (BA). You can earn about 500 pounds per day if you have experience and about 100 pounds per day with no experience. UK loves experience and it is hard to get Project management job without experience. Also, some employers like certification like PMP (from PMI), PMQ (From APM) and Prince 2 Practitioner certification over BSc and MSc. You should also join APM student membership which is free to benefit. https://www.apm.org.uk/membership/Good luck. |

tosen64: PTDF PhD Awardees and Present PhD Applicants, please I need your advice.
I have doubts about this section of the Master's Degree Thesis (Summary) because I am really finding it hard to meet the file size of 300KB (even after optimizing the PDF file).
Does it make sense to remove literature review, references, and appendices? Removing them means the report I will upload will comprise of Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, and Summary Conclusion and Recommendation. Does this make sense at all?
I have lots of important information (including pictures) that I don't want to remove in my report because I feel it will distort my work.
How did you summarize your thesis? Upload your Abstract which is same as Executive summary. Should be just a page |

Mobilipia: I was rejected by Anglia Ruskin university, Northumbria and Edinburgh Nappier.Though I applied to computer science because I have advance diploma in software engineering from NIIT and bachelor degree in human Resource management from Benin republic, I have almost 5 years of work experience in software development field so seeing that gave me the confidence that my previous diploma and work experience will give me an edge. They didnt give you admission because of bachelors degree in human Resource management. Not because of Benin republic. Also, for you to do Masters degree in Computer science, you must have done Bachelors degree in a computing related course. If you want to do anything related to IT, then choose Masters degree in Information Technology and not computer science. |

Ogechi2686: @justwise please I am a lady doing my Msc in uk living with my two kids and my husband. It has not been easy taken care of the kids while studying and working. My husband and i planning to invite my mother to visit us and look after the kids maybe 3months while my husband will have time to work so we can clear my school fees. My mother is 53 years and my fear is that she's not working but doing petty business which is not registered with CAC. I want to know if i apply for her and provide my statement of account proving that i can sponsor her trip and take care of her stay while in uk will they give her the visa? Your best bet is for you to say she is unemployed and a house wife. Not easy to proof she is self employed as she will need CAC and company account. However, you will need to proof she receives money from family monthly. Let the monthly payment reflect in her bank account for minimum of 3 months. I advise about incoming amount of 80,000 naira and expenses reflect in the account should be 20,000 naira. So every month there should be 60,000 naira. Then for 3 months, there should be about 180,000 naira in her account. Then you must invite her, state that you are responsible for her feeding, travel fligh, living expenses and transport. Upload your 5 to 6 months bank statement, tenancy documents e,t,c. She will also need home tie evidence e.g property document from her or her husband, letter from her husband she is coming back stating the date she is leaving and coming back e.t.c Good luck. |

Konko777: Hello house, I applid for UK tier 4 visa in Jan 2018 but was denied based on credibility test, I didn't do enough research abt the school. I actually did priority visa then. Now I want to apply again using the super priority visa. I want to ask if there would be a credibility test if I used the super priority visa? Follow justwise advice. Why waste money on superpriority visa. That is about 450,000 naira wasted. Better read and research about your scchool. If you really need a mentor, some nairalanders here can help you. It will be nice to just tip those who guide you instead of given UKVI free money and not fellow Nigerians. Besides, for you to plan to do superpriority visa this early, it will be suspicious. |

Mostly 2'1 though with employment experience you can be considered . and they need ietls too. Choose low ranked school like University of Salford as first choice. They accept 2.2 and WAEC C6. Dont apply to top schools like Imperiaĺ college or UCL who only accept 2.1 and First class. Meanwhile, all your energy should be channelled on pass the PTDF interview and first stage shortlisting. |
