Mikool101:Tell them you want to change your course to the accredited CMI course. Do not pay any deposit I don't think you can change your course because of that reason. So sort everything now since you have not paid any deposit. Threaten you might reject the school if they don't change your course. |
em7even:Thanks |
Hello all. For visitor visa, which airlines allow Nigerians to the UK. I heard one will need transit visa for KLM and AIR FRANCE. What airlines allow Nigerians travel to the UK without transit visa. |
Affamefuna:There is job anywhere in the UK. What is most important is the school reputation, course tuition fees and cost of living of the school area. However, Liverpool 1st, Leeds 2nd, Derby 3rd and Belfast 4th. |
traihit:Nice one |

Because of COVID, some universities in both USA and CANADA do not require GRE/TOEFL/IELTS plus application fee waiver. But if GRE exam is required, this link below will give you vital information to help you pass: https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-gre |
HOW TO SECURE MSC AND PHD FUNDING IN USA/CANADA AND EASIEST WAY TO FIND SUPERVISORS WHO HAVE FUNDING For Prospective Nigerians https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53qR-GJyrcg Credit: Scholars Pivot |
Thomas18:There is no fixed amount. It depends on your school tuition fees and location. Have your complete tuition fees and a minimum of 3 months sufficient allowance that will cater for feeding and accommodation in your account before coming to the UK. You cannot work immediately when you come as you need national insurance and getting a job is not automatic. If you live in a shared house and pay about 300 pounds for accommodation that include bills, then working 20 hours (the maximum amount you can work legally) will be enough for your living expenses and accommodation. However, you cannot raise your tuition fees. Those who you know that might have been successful broke visa rules by working full time and are into illegal deeds. You won't be able to extend your visa and will definitely be caught, punished and deported. |
MissOwaa:Can you send the link for confirmation so everyone can benefit and remove doubt? Probably the rules have recently changed. |
phadriz:According to UKVI rules, Your family members can only come to the UK if: • You hold (or are applying for) a Tier 4 (General) visa in order to study a course at Masters level or above for 9 months or more. • You are a new government-sponsored student who holds (or is applying for) a Tier 4 (General) visa and you are coming to the UK to follow a course of more than six months (https://www.southampton.ac.uk/studentservices/visa-and-immigration/faqs/faq-family-dependants.page) Therefore, if your are self-funding, you will not be able to bring your dependants to the UK nor qualify for post study visa. SOLUTION Look for another MSc course that is minimum of 9 months to bring your dependant to the UK. However, if actually, your aim is to have a UK MSc then choose the cheapest and easiest route by applying MSc Accounting and Finance at University of Northampton (https://www.northampton.ac.uk/courses/accounting-and-finance-top-up-msc/) It only costs £2,220. The programme is designed for AIA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAP holders and there is only one module for the programme. Note that it is a distance learning programme so you and your dependents are ineligible to come to the UK |

Ugobeth:I will advise you to focus on USA and Canada. Universities in the two countries give full scholarship. Go to respective universities and look for your choice field. Google about your field and email the lecturer who tallies with your research interest on your interest on being a PhD student. Apply for Teaching or Graduate Assistant Position in the department. This gives you funding. Forget about UK. UK universities rarely give foreign student scholarship. Most Nigerians doing PhD obtain external scholarships such as Terfund, NDDC, Commonwealth, PTDF e.t.c Apart from that, you can google Chinese Government scholarship, Malaysia Government Scholarship, Japan MEXT Scholarship (closing May 31). Check my Foundation for scholarship information. |
Anugoson:Choose University of Sunderland as the programme is accredited by NMC. Your course is only one year as you have BNSc. They accept 2.2 also and you will be given 1000 pound automatic scholarship. They require both WAEC/NECO English C6 and letter from university that your degree programme was in English. |
lilyheaven:Why not do MSc in Nursing. Nurses are in high demand in the UK. Those other courses are not and you might not get a job. This COVID has affected many sector. Choose University of Sunderland as the programme is accredited by NMC. Your course is only one year as you have BNSc. They accept 2.2 also and you will be given 1000 pound automatic scholarship. Dharmzy370:Yes. BSc will get 2 yrs post study visa. But BSc students cannot bring dependent. |
gigi24:WAEC is accepted. Tell them and send the website below: https://www.hull.ac.uk/choose-hull/study-at-hull/admissions/english-language-requirements I noticed some of these schools or department usually promote IELTS if you don't stand your ground like probably they are getting commission. |

gigi24:Actually, University of Hull is the cheapest. It is 9000 pounds for postgraduate courses. |
WestMan55:British Airways one way from Lagos to Edinburgh on Dec 31st is USD 593.13 (See attached). No COVID test required too. This is considerably less than N250k. There could even be cheaper options from Etihad airways, Egypt air, Emirates (but they might require COVID Test). Find out more.

Tomyusf141:@Tomyusf141, kelly24 and Mumsytwinny. Dont be focused on the scholarship. Focus on the total amount left after scholarship. For example, to study MSc Advanced Mechanical Engineering, you will pay £19,890 per year (https://www.bradford.ac.uk/courses/pg/advanced-mechanical-engineering/). Even with the 5000 pounds scholarship, you still get to pay £14,890 which is approximately £15,000. The best bet for anyone looking for the cheap option is going to the University of Hull and quickly gain admission as you get to pay the same fees with UK student about 9,000 pounds. The offer could end if demand exceeds supply. But once you secure admission, the fee can't be changed.. Good luck. |
Lavisha:You can do MSC directly. In Nigeria, I think UNILAG accepts HND Upper Credit/Distinction for MBA admission directly. I don't know of current rules of now as things changes. In USA, you can get admission and scholarship with HND. Convert your HND with US WES transripts conversion as they rate it equivalent to BSc. Check this link for more info https://www.nairaland.com/370346/what-hnd-equivalent-usa. Follow the advice of Ghost87 and GNwafor In the UK, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Sunderland and some other universities will give you MSC admission if you have relevant work experience. |

Crookesmore:I can see you want to self-sponsor for PhD. I wont advise it as you dont have enough money. Even if you have, I wont advise it as it appears that you dont even have interest in PhD. You just want to leave naija. Seek for PhD scholarship instead. You must have interest for PhD research to be successful. Also, your main aim of doing PhD is to leave Nigeria when there are many other ways you can leave naija cost effective. With that allotted money, you can secure Canada or Australia permanent residence if you follow the guidance so dont waste money. Also, instead of doing PhD, you can do another Masters since you dont have money for PhD and obtain PSW then follow through. Good luck. |
