Peter Obi as the concensus presidential candidate of the coalition is non-negotiable

They'd replace plastic with something else. The solution is to fix the indiscipline by providing facilities for proper waste disposal and fining or punishing offenders severely
immortalcrown:
The only solution to this problem is a ban on plastics.

Average (average in terms of discipline, not financial status) Nigerian is not disciplined enough to properly dispose of non-degradable materials. Sachet water nylon can burn. But an average Nigerian does not empty the nylon before throwing it away. So, the nylon can burn because it contains water.

Even if Seyi Tinubu is made INEC chairman, Tinubu will be defeated because he has failed irreversibly. He never won in the first place

There are 60 days left until the INEC Chairman's tenure expires on November 9, 2025. The Anambra State governorship election on November 8, 2025, will be the last major election Professor Mahmood Yakubu oversees as INEC Chairman.

Who should replace him?

So why remove subsidies and crash an economy from $450 billion to $188 billion when he could continue to borrow like he has continued even more despite removing subsidies?

You're not making sense, I'm sorry!

You're missing the point because you're trying to justify docility.

They were not after old people in power, they were after corrupt people in power. Do you want them to remove the old cortupt guys and handover to young inexperienced cortupt youths?

The woman they handed over to was a woman known for anticorruption whom they have said should be handed power to but the political class refused so they removed the political class and handed power to the woman themselves.

They set out to do something and in unison, they achieved it. They have over 163 languages but were united to achieve this.

Finally, no future government will ever take them for granted. This is the most significant outcome of their actions; they conquered IMPUNITY!

You're giving so much exvuses which tells me you're not ready.

You keep throwing the racist world as if tribalism is not worse than racism.

South Korea is an example i used when i said east Asian countries. China is a communist country but has superceded the west in development in the shortest possible time without giving excuses. Remember the century of humiliation of China?

Finally, all countries were colonized at some point including the British! America got their independence in 1776 and became a world powee in a short time. This is the best time for any serious country to develop in leaps and bounds because the tendency of invasions has reduced drastically
motymop:
i am not emotional here and biased but telling you the long term effect of what might happen when you continue listening to racist ideas and judging yourself based on racist ideas...

Yes, the earliest humans came from Africa, that’s basic anthropology but that doesn’t mean Africa had a head start in civilization. Evolution doesn’t equal economic development. Civilisations rise and fall based on geography, resources, trade routes and historical events. The fact that Africans were first humans doesnt automatically mean they should be first in modern GDP rankings. That’s a faulty comparison.

Countries like South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan received huge injections of aid, military support and favorable trade terms from the US and allies during the Cold War because they were seen as strategic buffers against communism. African countries didn’t get that kind of support; instead, many got IMF and World Bank policies and neo-colonial interference that crippled growth. Context matters.

you are ignoring the fact that Africa already had systems of governance, trade and education before colonisation. Missionaries and colonial schools weren’t about empowering Africans, they were designed to produce clerks and interpreters to serve the colonial system. Copying Western models without sovereignty or resources doesn’t equal success, it often meant dependency.

Predicting the future is tricky but dismissing all African nations ignores progress that’s happening. Look at Rwanda’s governance reforms, Botswana’s stable growth, Nigeria’s tech sector, Kenya’s fintech and infrastructure, Ghana’s democratic resilience. No one thought South Korea in the 1960s, poor, war-torn, illiterate would become a global powerhouse in 50 years. Yet it did. Why assume no Black nation could do the same?

That’s the same rhetoric racists use pointing at averages while ignoring structural barriers and opportunities. People everywhere are average. It’s systems, institutions, and leadership that lift entire populations. Saying “Blacks can’t govern themselves” is lazy; the reality is Africa has been systematically undermined but still shows resilience and growth in many areas.
PoliticsRe: Reno Omokri Educates A Follower On Why Nigeria Remains Indissolube by DMerciful(m): 1:37pm On Sep 13, 2025
Lets assume that there was secession clause in the 1960 constitution, are we still using the 1960 constitution?

Secondly, there was referendum in both the 1960 and 1963 constitution and thats why the midwest region was created through a plebiscite(referendum). Do we have referendum in the 1999 constitution even though it wasn't renoved in 1963? Absolutely not!

We have leaders today like we have in 1960, why can't the leaders of today put secession clause since the constitution can be amended at anytime? Its easy to say Azikiwe did not want it hence it was not inserted in the 1960 constitution, however, Azikiwe is just one man. What was Awolowo and Amadu Bello doing to have one man's wish supercede theirs combined?
madridguy:
Chief Obafemi Awolowo mooted the idea of a secession clause in 1954 during the Lagos Constitutional Conference, but Nnamdi Azikiwe rejected it, galvanising a majority of the conference attendees to kill the idea.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo - I Can't Believe On My Own Time Naira Has Lost It's Value by DMerciful(m): 1:29pm On Sep 13, 2025
If Tinubu wasn't borrowing more than previous administration, then your removal of subsidy would have been justified.

You're not making sense when you celebrate a government who removed all subsidies but borrowing far more than those who paid subsidies.

Tilumbu is a fraud!
BabaO2:
Obasanjo is ignorant, he never wanted good for Nigeria. Naira was worse under him in reality, how is it so difficult for you and your likes to understand that from Babangida era till 2023 that we never had true economy, Naira was heavily subsidized, only few of them and their friends had opportunity of getting the official subsidised rate and again sell it at N500 to people at black market.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo - I Can't Believe On My Own Time Naira Has Lost It's Value by DMerciful(m): 1:26pm On Sep 13, 2025
Its as a result of Tinubu's incompetence. Why are you defending failure?
DarkLover:
Maybe you should take your time to check who you're calling FDL crew whatever that means.

No doubt Naira has lost its value, but that's a result of overlayed & repeated rots in the entire system. It isn't just as a result of one man's policies.

Nigeria's system of government is faulty foundationally, and until those structural faults are addressed head-on, we will continue running in circles.

I detest hypocrisy.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo - I Can't Believe On My Own Time Naira Has Lost It's Value by DMerciful(m): 1:22pm On Sep 13, 2025
They will harmonize it with local currency by removing zeros. If you're a millionaire in naira, you might be worth 100k in the new currency.

Europe uses euro but they weren't in the same economic development when it was adopted.

If the entire Africa decides to use dollar, everybody will get dollars equivalent to their exchange rate now
brain54:
A single currency for Africa would hardly work...

Most African countries are in a different stage of development economically. Would countries with stronger currencies like Botswana and sounth Africa and stronger economies agree to a single currency with same value with Nigeria for example that obasanjo has said it's currency is worth less than the paper it was printed on?

Again who would be the central authority to oversee the currency?

It's highly unlikely to succeed. I think what should be promoted and encouraged is better trade and investments between African countries instead of single currency.

Africa should be more united in cooperation and trade within Africa!
PoliticsRe: This Is How Most Nigerians Think by DMerciful(m): 12:43pm On Sep 13, 2025
You're speaking emotionally and biased. Its on record that the first humans were blacks so we got a good head start.

Secondly, at independence, we were at par with or doing better than the east Asian countries. Where are they today and where are we today?

Thirdly, the things you mentioned about literacy, democratic institutions, technological adoptions were already invented and brought by missionaries and through our journeys to other countries, all we had to do was copy but still failing shamelessly.

Finally, show me one black country that we can confidently say will be a developed country in the next 50yrs?

When we tell ourselves the truth, then maybe we can take deliberate steps to remove that label of our inability to govern ourselves. When i say black, i mean the average black ofcourse there would be exceptions but they're in the extreme minority
motymop:
When you write that “Blacks have not shown capacity to lead themselves to high standards of living and good governance” I honestly find that very troubling.

That exact line has been used by white racists and colonizers for centuries to justify slavery and colonization, the claim that Black people can’t govern themselves. To hear a Black person repeat it is basically copying their rhetoric word for word.

what you type dismisses the real progress we’ve made since independence. In just a few decades we’ve improved literacy, life expectancy, democratic institutions, technology adoption and entrepreneurship. Europe and America took centuries (and exploited colonies) to reach their current state.

How does a person with your mindset instill confidence in their own child? If you believe your people have “no capacity,” then you are saying your child, and even yourself, have no capability to achieve greatness. That’s not only untrue, it’s dangerous to believe. It plants self-doubt where there should be ambition.

The statement also collapses on itself. If you include yourself, you’re admitting you too have no capacity. If you see yourself or your child as an exception, then you’ve already disproven your own claim because progress always starts with individuals who scale their efforts into community change.

Instead of repeating colonial propaganda, we should acknowledge the challenges African countries still face, corruption, weak institutions, external pressures but also recognize the resilience and creativity we’ve shown. The honest framing should be we have problems to solve, but we are capable of solving them ourselves.

So yes, your statement doesn’t inspire confidence, it dismisses progress and it echoes racist ideas that were designed to keep us down.

You don't know anything.
The opposition has agreed a unified front is required to defeat Tinubu hence the need for a coalition. Obi and GEJ cannot contest separately against Tinubu if the opposition wants to win.

That is why they need to align and bring out one person. So stop your mischief, it can be seen from a mile away

When we said the Obidients people don't have any political direction, their supporters would be arguing.

Is GEJ in LP? ADC?
Has GEJ talked about being interested in the 2027 election?
Is GEJ even eligible to contest the presidency?

They claimed Peter Obi is so popular in Nigeria yet begging others to step down for him. They have been finding all way to evade any primary election as their so popular Obi can't even with the primary of ADC

Eventually, Peter Obi would miss out from the 2027 presidential race

Tinubu crashed an economy from $460 billion to $188 billion because of just $4.5 billion?

I know all the major presidential candidates said they'd remove subsidy but he ought to have reviewed the numbers to know if it was worth it and not just remove it from day 1 without even getting to office. There was budget for it till end of June but because he knew he never won the election, he was impatiently looking for legitimacy

3 months is the entire process but you have 2-3 weeks only for witness. How many witness can be cross examined in 3 weeks? This is not possible!

Even 100 witness is not possible.
PigTormentor:
So with 3 months, LP couldn't have their polling agents to submit the result sheets that differ from what INEC reported?
In fact, you don't need thousands of results.
Obi could have shown just about 100 such false results, that have given his case a boost on social media in the courts.
At the very least, show us at least 100 of such false results instead of claiming that you.won but can't show any prove.
It will only take weeks for all LP agents to submit result papers where the INEC results differs from what was signed for.
Pls that's a lame excuse.
