Marjoribanks: Sierra Leone leading 2nil. That will take them to 5 points and potentially eliminate Sao Tome. We need at least two away draws and a Sao Tome win to qualify! No need to panick!
daveP: Was on a space yesternight and heard that the stadium staff were being silly and overtly demanding with the gates. They know the mental state of those that turned up and they still had to be forming tough with which gate to allow fans with tickets must go through??
Some boys got tired after trekking round the mainbowl and drove home in anger, saying they won't even win the match. And they didn't!
This gate is for minister This gate is limited This entrance is locked Arggghhhj!!
I thought FIFA ban the SE using that stadium after that Ghana game
One habit our players have that affect the team's performance is their poor decision making on the ball.. Some are fond of holding on to the ball unnecessary.. Etebo is very guilty of that..in fact it's an aspect of his game that makes him a liability to the team.. His presence yesterday won't have made any difference...
TheSuperNerd: I made the above post earlier this year in January and it mentioned Etebo.
I have been carefully following all our midfielders' progress this 22/23 season and it really disgusted me when I saw Jpes' midfield list. Tagging it "Horrific" is an understatement.
NB: It didn't include Orban coz he was making his move on deadline day in January.
we are in for it then,
Rohr might be conservative, But for sure he knows how to set his midfield, than what we are witnessing now
TheSuperNerd: A midfield of Iwobi, Onyeka and Ndidi would have also done nothing. The limitations are still glaring even in that 3 man midfield setup.
Nigeria played same Guinea Bissau at Afcon 2021 (in January 2022) and dominated in midfield plays, properly transitioning plays with ease. We paraded Ndidi and Nwakali in the middle that day and Iwobi on the right.
Bura Nogueira played that game and got outclassed on the overall. He couldn't hold a feather to an Nwakali-Ndidi led midfield.
Keep looking away from the truth. .
One other thing our midfield had been missing is the Energy of Etebo, What had happened to him, that we hardly mention him here, And it's not like he is old yet
lovewins: What's funny is you ended up defending him even though you claimed not to.
I never defended the inclusion of the yum yum player. I was the first person to post the list here and it's on record that I condemned not just his inclusion but other inactive players.
Also, don't deflect responsibility to Austin. Coaches appointment is solely by the discretion of the NFF president. That's how it works here. To claim otherwise will be dishonest. Everything rises and falls on leadership.
A lot of things Pinnick got done during his time was on credit. It's why Gasau is cutting cost drastically. They owe practically everything. From hotel bills to airline tickets etc. Also, please owing players is a biggie. We shouldn't reduce something as serious as that to frivolities
This is why I don't like to Argue on most matters here,
I just state things the way they were then, you had run to tag it defending,
I would had take you more on it, by bring out points, but this your comment just kill the vibes
lovewins: Pinnick is gone, but the consequences of his tenure is still with us hence the constant mention of his name.
Many of the archaic measures the NFF is coming up with now is a consequence of Pinnick's mismanagement. For instance, players across board (super eagles, falcons and all age grade teams) are still being owed years of bonuses and allowances.
Pinnick appointed foreign coaches with ridiculous inflated contracts that he knew the NFF couldn't pay. Gernot Rohr was being paid $40k+ monthly, guess what he earns in Benin Republic now? $20k. Pinnick signed a $75k monthly contract with Peisero when he knew the NFF was broke. He signed a stupid deal with a part time coach on Waldrum, now the NFF can't sack him cause they don't have the money to pay him off. It's the reason he'll take the Falcon's to the world cup despite his shambolic performances.
None of the assistant coaches of the national teams have a contract. Pinnick doesn't have one with them. Even the bonuses they were promised haven't been paid cause the NFF doesn't have money. It's why Gasau came up with the ridiculous coach rotation to cut down cost.
Too many things to talk about, but the bed we are lying on is the bed Pinnick laid.
Let it not look like am defending him,
First point so does the Archaic measures being employed by Gusua, justify the invitation of a player from yumyum FC, is it's Pinnick that caused it too
Secondly, I blame not just Pinnick alone, But the Austin led TDon coaches appointments, Pinnick tried by getting sponsors to take care of their (coaches) Salaries, which worked with Oando, before thing went south for the sponsor hence affecting Nff too, Furthermore he was fighting Guessed sport minister combined, even the minister refuse to release funds for him,
So he owing both players and coaches, is no biggie, or Had Lars receive his owned money yet
Una go dey here dey blame Pinnick, like he enter office with a clean slide, and dirtied it with enough black spots, that's it so strong on the white, that's it hard to remove
The better we forget about Pinnick and hold Gusua led board, the better for us
Odidigboigbo: Baba, you are far from the realities of Delta state 2023 politics, maybe you need to ask those on ground. Even Ibori came in Person to Asaba in protest to the venue were result was being announced after his daughter has done hers in Oghara.
daveP: This is not the RU i know. Although one weakness i know them for was vivid from this highlights-they are extremely poor in box18 play. They still haven't improved on that aspect. You drag 3 defenders to you and still want to fire shot instead of one wise pass to a teammate already freed up.
Defending for RU is wack. That 2nd goal, they were all too deep and lucozading. This is a bad bad result. They should not be drawing at home. They better work on it.
Shot dey sweet, but only looks so when it goes in. Else na rubbish. I hope they do justice in the next game.
Not just for the second goal alone, RU 29yards box is nothing to write about, They would had won RU, if the away side had keep their cool,
Don't you see that last header, would had been a sure goal, if that guy had put his header down
ChrisKels: Seriously hope Napoli comes up with an excuse to stop Osimhen from coming for this AFCON qualifiers with all these craps invited by the NFF. What the fück is Yum Yum FC?
hahahaha unable never see anything, Is it not here we were busy calling pinnick names as per players called Up,
