gshyne: @cvibe,
Richard Branson owns an exotic island, ever heard of Necker Islands. Thing tho is Richard Branson did explain how he bought the island in the 70s/80s and invested proceeds from his virgin records over time to develop the island. @ topic 28 houses in Dubai sounds outrageous but its quite achievable especially as an investment by the IBRUs Incomparable. Branson wealth history can be traced and audited if the need arises, so no basis for your comparison. How did the IBRUs made money in the first place - common you know they have skeletons in their wardrobe, both clean and shaddy deals. |

Guys, don't you think it's high time we make a move for Confederation? From this postings so far, tribalism and ethnicity would never give way for Progress and Unity!!
I propose a confederation - The United Regions of Nigeria
Hausaland Igboland Yorubaland The Middlebelt
Every other ethnic tribe should be free to join whichever region they want.
You all know we need to really address this issue, Nigeria as a nation is simply not working. |

Politics › Re: Why Is Nigeria So Difficult To Develop? by DOAweb(m): 12:33pm On Dec 16, 2009 |
londoner: Former developing countries who are making progress have one thing in common, an "all hands on deck attitude" it runs through society whether at the top middle or bottom. Generally Nigerians lack that attitude, they just want to reap the dividends given to them by those at the top. Those at the top have a different agenda alltogether and it has nopthing to do with nation building.
There is no such thing as a free lunch. Those with funds and expertise often do not invest in the people. The people also dont know the difference between an investment and a handout. They generally have an aversion to anything which will take more than a year to give them 200% return, real investment is long term, they dont like it that way.
Nigeria can be developed, if there is a change of mindset. We have disengenuine leaders with an "electorate" which is delusional about its own responsibilities. Until that changes, there can be no meaningful and SUSTAINED development. You have just made my day with your write-up. THANK YOU. I have always argued and still maintain that the single problem Nigeria as nation face is the culture of Greed on an M3 scale - Me, Myself and My family, and until our Mindset changes to togetherness and selflessness and not the ' Look at me - I have made it attitude (by crook or otherwise) , we are all still talking Bollocks. Epi: @Poster
I think so. My mother ALWAYS say this "The way you carry yourself speak volumes of you. The way you dress (if you dress neat, it makes it much easier to overlook the negative), your smile (white teeth), clean fingernails (no chip polish/dirt under your nails) your hair (looks fresh not "bushy" , the way you speak (speak properly even if you have to bite your tongue) and your walk (don't walk with your head down because it shows weakness. Walk with your head high) @Epi, to summarise ur writeup - PRESENTATION, PRESENTATION, PRESENTATION is of paramount importance. I absolutely agree!! |

Mbeki: At least Nigerians are learning to complain against bad customer services instead of keeping mum. The way some of these banks carry out there transactions makes them feel as if they're doing one a favour. If all Nigerians should be suing them to court, every now and then, I think they'll be more careful. Totally agree!! |
