temitemi1:Hian. Say what temitemi. I thought he was on his lane when he was rammed Into by Markafi and his group of herdsmen. |
JuanDeDios:Of course, through the river into the sea then to the Lagos coastline. |
Edoloaded:You haven't. Its difficult to believe especially considering the level of neglect Siluko has undergone The boom era was in the late70's/early80'/s when it had a River port on the Siluko river that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. This easily served as a route for commerce to Lagos and its ports. But then the menace of water hyacinth set in. gradually until navigation completely became impossible. |
FastShipping:Well, we all have our individual expectations of a Buhari regime. I am least surprised by the avalanche of criticisms of PMB. The reason being that people expected immediate solutions to all the ills plaguing us. Even his worst enemies were expecting miracles from him because they were all tired of the misgovernance of previous regimes. Sometimes, I wish Jonathan had won the election of 2015 and continued as President.. I wonder where we would have been. Our undoing as citizens was that we didn't brace up for the changes required to rebuilt a nation bearing in mind what Ghana went through to attain their present modicum of stability and success.. My continued believe in PMB is not because of any spectacular performance. in all things expected of him but in that which was not expected of him. And that is the ability of his regime to negotiate the recession successfully without allowing any of the 36states to be drowned in the mire of economic debauchery. I doubt if any FG egime has ever come to the rescue of all the states the way PMB regime did even at it's'infancy ,even in the face of dwindling fortune. We were atuned to stories of FG withholding state allocation even in times of abundamce. None has ever been that caring. Ironically, the same governors are now insulated from the vernon of the masses, comfortably basking in undeserved glory. This leads me to.my only reservation about PMB, his stubbornes for bearing and insistence to continue to bear a cross not meant for him eg the baggages of the governors. An OBJ wouldn't have been so unconditionally generous. I am sure he, OBJ,would have ensured he made some political gain from it. |
[quote author=FastShipping post=64021180]Dankwabo can't be controlled or held hostage by 1000 Wike or Fayose. Buhari can only continue if PDP should make mistake by nominating that thief called Atiku.[/qu See how you dropped Atiku like a hot iron. Dakwambo now the anointed Messiah. Hmmmmmmm, I wonder why he is delaying to heed the clarion call by PDP./antiBuhari enthusiasts. I feel the day he chooses to step onto the ring to do battle that well crafted resume of his may not survive an integrity test |
OP, the Gelegele seaport has been in the pipeline for a long time. Hope the project sees the light of day. Is there a motorable road to Gelegele from Benin. Also does the govt have any intention of rehabilitating the Siluko River Port . It was really a very useful port when it was functional and immensely boosted the localeconomy of the Iguobazuwa-Siluko axis. It also provided alternative means of transportation of goods from Lagos to Benin back then. |
Blue3k2:Bakassi seaport. Never heard of that.Ports everywhere, very few funtional In an article from Punch on Tinapa you posted a few days ago, the absence of a deep seaport was listed as one of the challenges See below So, until the Calabar Sea is dredged and the port is put to use, independent of other administrative issues, Tinapa might continue to depreciate without meaningful impact. So will Tinapa benefit from it? |
Blue3k2 come o, will this project impact positively on Tinapa when completed? I don't have any clue as regards the nearness of the two projects |
LRNZH:May be the link below will help https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=AwrBT9fEJFJa8KQAw8Zx.9w4;_ylu=X3oDMTByMjB0aG5zBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzYw--?p=katsina+windmill+power+projec |
LRNZH posted an article on politics section with the caption: Was President Buhari Misinformed about the Katsina Power Project. https://www.nairaland.com/4274494/president-buhari-misinformed-katsina-power He claimed his querying of the President's New Year address was based on a face book post from a close friend of his .To justify his claim he posted pictures of some fallen decrepit pillars. When challenged on the reliability of his friend's claim he challenged anybody with contrary pics of the wind mill to post them. LRNZH used to be factual in his posts but on this one, well, something is surely amiss here. Below is an address by Kaysina state governor corroborating PMB's claim with accompanying pictures of the true state of the windmill. Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State has urged the Federal Government to accelerate the completion of the 10 Megawatt Windmill Power Project in Rimi Local Government Area of the state. Masari made the call on Thursday in Katsina at the launching of a Pilot Edition of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Clinic. “We are calling on the Federal Government to complete the project because it will enhance Small and Medium Enterprises in the state. “The SMEs if given the necessary support like power supply will assist to reduce rural-to-urban migration. “Many of the youth will prefer to conduct their businesses at their various villages instead of migrating to the urban centres,’’ he said. The Governor said that the call was imperative because of the project’s importance to boosting socio-economic activities in the state. He stated that the project had reached 90 per cent completion, adding that completing it would assist to reduce poverty among youths and women in rural areas. Masari disclosed that his administration had established an agency saddled with the responsibility of fighting poverty among people of the state. The Minister of State for Industries, Trade and Investment, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar, said that the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, was championing the empowerment of the SMEs. Abubakar said that the Federal Government was committed to the diversification of the economy by giving maximum support to SMEs. She also said that the government had established a Development Bank that would come to the aid of SMEs in the country. She commended the Katsina State Government for giving maximum support to entrepreneurs to enhance the establishment of small businesses in the state. https://newmail-ng.com/masari-urges-fg-to-complete-10mw-windmill-power-project/

Blue3k2:@OP , if I recollect very well one of the major complaint of customers was that prices of goods at Tinapia wasn't different from and sometimes higher than similar ones in the open market. There were many problems right from the outset which were left unattended. Now that the problems have become fossilized how can they be solved. Being a South Southerner, my wish is for Tinapa not to die but then we are in trying times. |
As at 1992/93, Atiku didn't have the political clout to swim in the big waters of national politics. Yaradua , Annenih, Chief Nzeribe, Major Azika retd, MKO, Olu Falae, Tinubu ,Alhaji Babangana Kingibe were the pladiators in SDP them. Even if he were under consideration at all for VP post, Alhaji Kingibe's clout completely dwarfed Atiku's . Atiku wasn't the reason 1993 election was annulled. What was his influence then in the military circle. If you say it was because of Alhaji Bashir Tofa, presidential candidate of NRC who was favoured by the AFRC to win,it would have been more understandable. If however the claim that his not being chosen as a VP was why the election was annulled then Atiku should be regarded as an enemy of democracy and by extention an enemy of the state. Atiku's corrupt tendency if wasn't proven during OBJ regime has started manifesting now because he feels he is untouchable. The inclusion of Onitsha in the next phase of rail line project by President Muhammadu Buhari is an indication of the new focus of government for South East. ‘We deserve less-crowded coaches, faster trains’ Oganiru Ndigbo Worldwide has commended President Buhari for the proposed project. In an interview on Saturday in Awka, the group’s state Chairman Chief Ifeanyi Okechukwu said that the Igbos should be patient with the present administration for the dividend of democracy to get to the zone. “As far as I am concern, there is no truth in the saying that we are being left out in the scheme of things all we must do as Igbos is to contribute meaningfully to the success of this administration for more developmental projects to get to us. “Attention is being directed to our major roads, second Niger Bridge and now rail services getting to Onitsha the hub of commerce which we should be proud of. Okechukwu called on the zone to do all within their reach to see to the unity of the nation for better days to come. “We can achieve a lot in our unity in diversity only if we can tell ourselves the truth by downplaying mediocrity, nepotism and ethnicity when taking decisions of national interest. “That is what is making United States of America strong because they have the unity of their nation at heart in spite of the different ethnic groups that makes up the country,” he said (NAN)

Hmmmmmmm A border town between Enugu and Rivers. Jeeeeeez. OK. Has Rivers annexed Abia and IMO States or have these two States ceased to exist |
SalamRushdie:You people never learn. It is unfortunate. |
Neymar messed up real time leaving Barca. Now he is just realising that there are only three clubs in France-PSG, MONACO, and the rest that can't add value to his Balloon Dor hope. |
Smellymouth:It may appear so to you. Imagine if Coutinho wins the Word cup with Brazil. Also imagine if he comes back as the MVP. Barca won't be able to afford him again. Even crazy PSG will have to struggle hard to buy him. |
Ughelli, my home base. Really pathetic. Left alone the people's wish is to align with any party with progressive ideology. They rejected Ibori at the peak of his political power. Simply put they don't wish to align with PDP but PDP won't allow them be. Usually. and as always DSIEC will always not bring complete electoral materials to polling booths where PDP is sure to loose. If they succeed to have the election done, result won't be announced till the electoral officer and materials get to Asaba wthen the ruling party and the governor will give the go ahead to release cooked up results. Of course, it seems the youths had a different idea.. |
The statement from Ohaneze is quiet unnecessary and politically amateurish. While destructive criticism from individuals might go unnoticed or ignored but not that from a large body like Ohaneze except the body is seeong itself as inconsequential in the scheme of things not only in Igboland but also in the country as a whole . Otherwise, this iis a political harakiri. |

Obijulius:I haven't seen what will make the oil companies to relocate back to the SS. They were in the region before but were chased away. Has the business environment changed, NO. |
The author of this article is not only a lazy ass*hole but also a myopic tribal propagandist. To blame someone else for relocation of headquarters of the IOC to Lagos is really shocking. While the SS states threw away the baby and the bathwater some other state provided a very conducive business environment for them . I dont really know much about the politics of the seaports but how can ships negotiate the pirate infested waterways of the ND to discharge their cargoes in eg Warri port. Moreover I thought Atiku and his intel company.was said to be the major reason why ships do not patronise the SS ports. Modify http://energymixreport.com/report-accuses-intels-of-monopoly-in-onne-warri-ports/ Funny enough when the FG set out to end INTEL'S monopoly, I am sure the author of the article must have joined the bandwagon of those who labelled the act as witch hinting of Atiku for political purpose. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/07/end-intels-monopoly-port-national-interest-bala-usman/ |
TonyeBarcanista:Abuja. OK. I thought as much. I asked because of your post. The fight is real here. I don't really know the historical background for this crisis but on this current crisis the Ijaws need to behave. At the early stage of the crisis we had to evacuate all medical personnel from Ogbe Ijoh . Up till now they haven't been able to go back. Just I told some Itsekiris on another thread, Warri doesn't need another crisis. A once developing town have been reduced to an abandoned ancient trading post like the ones one see in Western movies. It is such crisis that chased away Shell, Chevron, McDermott and a host of other s. Funny enough, all seem not to worry about. They are still indulging in old vices. The dividend of war is desolation, anguish etc but of peace, boundless joy, prosperity etc. |
TonyeBarcanista:Barca where you de they type this. |
otokx:I am for your proposal. My wish is that war should not be an option. Take a look at Warri of today compared to that of the 70s/80s. The decline is just so astonishing. All due mostly to avoidable internecine wars. |
Datazone:I don't think you understood my comment very well. I don't care who is right or wrong. I just don't want another outbreak of communal violence. When such occurs, it is usually those without any knowledge of or interest in the matter that suffers most or get killed. The Ogbe-Ijo crisis is still on. Can we afford another one. So whatever it takes to nip the issue in the bud should be done. |
Please, Please and please, let not another Ijaw- Itsekiri communal upheaval erupts again. At present there is one yet unresolved tribal clash between the Ijaws and the Urhobos in Ogbe- Ijo. with many casualties and many more in IDP camps. |
The Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, has advised the National Assembly not to change the name of Maritime University, Okerenghigho to Okerenkoko, Delta State, as proposed in a bill to the National Assembly. Abubakar Malami (SAN) . Photo by Gbemiga Olamikan In a memo from the office of the Attorney General, signed by H.A. Tahir, on behalf of the AGF, dated October 17, 2017, to the Clerk of the National Assembly, the AGF urged the National Assembly not to alter the name and location of the University from Okerenghigho, based on the fact that the name Okerenkoko was corrupted by the Ijaw, who were tenants in the community. The memo titled : Re- A Bill to Establish Maritime University Which Seeks to Change the Name of the University Community from Okerenghigho to Okerenkoko, stated in part : “I am directed to draw your attention to the issues raised by the counsel for the youth wing of the Itsekiri community, Lawrence E. Erewele & Co, on the above subject matter. “The Federal Ministry of Justice is in receipt of a correspondence from the aforementioned on the above subject matter, appealing for the intervention of the Honourable Attorney-General and Minister of Justice on the issue of a Bill for the establishment of Maritime University, Okerenkoko, which apparently is an incorrect name for the community where the university is to be located. “In his appeal for change of the name of the university from “Maritime University, Okerenkoko” to “Maritime University, Okerenghigho,” the counsel attached: —a letter by the Itsekiri National youths Council, NYC, to the National Assembly protesting the Bill bearing incorrect name of the community where the university is to be situated; and — a Supreme Court decision in the matter of James Uluba & Others vs Chief E.E. Sillo & Others, which is fundamental to the cause of changing the name of the communituy on the Bill. Tahir observed that: “Having read through the annexures to the correspondence, I observed the following: “The proposed Maritime University is situated in an area belonging to the Itsekiri community in Delta State, “Okerenghigho”. Apprentely, “ Okerenghigho is the aboriginal name of this community, while “Okerenkoko” is the corruption of the name by the Ijaw settlers in that community. “The Supreme Court in James Uluba & Ors vs Chief E.E. Sillo & Ors, affirmed the decision of the trial court, declaring further that the Ijaw who by virtue of their ancestor “Akpata” settled in that community, are the customary tenants of the Itsekiri, whose ancestors founded the Okerenghigho community. Therefore, Tahir recommended that: “In the light of the judicial pronouncement, the situs of the Maritime University and the need to avert any ethnic crises which may erupt should the Bill for the Establishment of the Maritime University be allowed to bear the opposed name “Okerenkoko,” I wish to advice that the National Assembly effect the necessary changes to reflect the aboriginal name “Maritime University, Okerenghigho.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/01/correct-location-proposed-maritime-university-delta-state-okerenghigho-not-okerenkoko-malami/amp/ |
