I have never supported the resource control mantra because of its present faulty implementation. Hosts communities are just pawns used by the greedy ND leaders to blackmail the FG and IOCs in their fake resource control demand. The day the communities become direct beneficiaries of what truly belong to them is when resource control will have its true meaning. |

TimeManager: PMB has absolutely nothing to do with the selection process, all he had to do was to approve. Besides, the judiciary cannot circumvent the law unlike the Senate counterpart who are rogues. Kiss the truth! For any appointment made there is always a lobbying stage. I am not familiar with the mode of selection of candidates for consideration by the NJC. It will be foolhardy for an executive president not to have interest in whom he appoints as justice of the SC. You don't expect a justice with soft spot for PDP to be appointed by PMB. |

The process for appointment of Justices of SC is not what a sitting president should leave in the hands of just anybody. I hope PMB did not exhibit an indifferent attitude here akin to that during the election of senate principal officers. |

This thread has shown the shallowness of many in Nigerian politics. Since I started following politics (circa 1979), I am not aware of any occasion where a president had to exercise his veto power. But if ever there was, I doubt if any NASS succeeded in overturning such presidential veto. No arm of govt wants to get into such murky waters. But if it does get there, the executive holds the upper hand via party allegiance, ethnic and religious favours, lobbying, and blackmail. |

Realtouchnot: The woman does not even spare doctors. in fact the way she treats them, you begin to wonder if she's their colleague. No matter how big or small you think you are, if she finds you wanting you're in for it. Naturally, people hate discipline, but I must tell you that woman is the best administrator in Nigeria public service. If you visit the hospital, every storeyed building you see, was erected by her. Her tast for quality is on another level. She has massively transformed the hospital. She made the hospital the highest IGR generating government hospital in Nigeria. That's why the Ministry is still insisting on Dr Angela Uwakwem. She supervises work herself and she's every where. That woman knows the name of most workers in that centre. Any day you're not at your duty post, you may receive her call. People naturally hate this things. The final sin was when she began a move at privatizing some aspects of the hospital due to gross inefficiency in them. The big wigs in Pharmacy and Laboratory who are leaders of JOHESU, that evil union rose against her. Unimaginable things go on in our hospitals. Laboratory technicians who own laboratories in town will be using hospital reagents to run the tests they bring from outside the hospital, and the hospital would be at loss at the end of the month. They're so lackadaisical to work, that people needed to wait for unthinkable days to get the result of their tests. The pharmacy guys will leave the drugs procured by the hospital to expire. They will be dispensing the ones they bring or the one of hungry companies who pay them. When the woman could not tame them, she said let's a mini form of private sector involve. This made them rise against her in full strength We are not far apart analytically. Like I said the doctors are easier to discipline. The fact that it is a federal institution compounds the issues further. Influences from near and far are brought to bear on an issue that is local. Painfully, the workers, inexplicably, have their way most of the time. |

If I wasn't a member of the medical profession spanning several decades with greater proportion of it spent in government institutions, I would have taken the OP report with a pinch of salt. But, alas, such is the practise, as posited by you, in most govt hospitals
But OP, the doctors, are also complicit by engaging in some unwholesome practises, ranging from extortion, patient diversion, poor work ethics , lateness to work, to absenteeism.
However, whenever efforts are initiated to root out many of these ills, the greatest resistance usually come from the non clinical personnel like the pharmacists, lab scientists/technicians nurses, administrative staff, warders/porters, morticians etc. The doctors are much easier to discipline.
The solution lies wholly with the employer, in this case, FMOH and the hospital head, CMD. The hospital management will do well to handle offences individually rather than using an aggregated approach. With that, each person will strive to protect his/her job. A case of everybody for himself. |

EFCC can’t clear CCT chairman of bribery scam – Saraki’s lawyer
April 24, 2016
Ade Adesomoju, Abuja
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has rejected the clearance issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar, exonerating him of complicity in the alleged N10m bribery scam.
Saraki is being prosecuted before the Danladi Umar-led tribunal on 13 counts of false asset declaration.
The Senate President’s lawyer, Mr. Ajibola Oluyede, has filed an application before the CCT asking Umar to disqualify himself from further presiding over the trial because he allegedly remained under EFCC investigation over the bribery allegation.

N11M FRAUD: REPS RECEIVE PETITION AGAINST CCT CHAIRMAN
Danladi Umar N11m fraud: Reps receive petition against CCT Chairman
Pulse News Agency Local By NAN | 20:47 | 10.11.2015
He was equally accused of fictitious contract for the supply of office furniture and fittings in the sum of N11.4 million, among other allegations.
The House of Representatives, on Tuesday received a petition bordering on corruption allegations against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Mr Danladi Umar.
The petition was presented by the Chairman, House Committee on Army, Rep. Shawulu Kwewum (Taraba-PDP) on behalf of Anti-Corruption Network, a civil society organisation.
Submitting the document, Kwewum alleged that former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr Mohammed Adoke, had recommended that two persons were to be arrested and investigated for alleged corruption.
He stated that in compliance with Adoke’s recommendation, one Ali Abdullahi was arrested and prosecuted but the other person, who is the current chairman of the CCT, was not.
"The petitioner is now seeking the house to wade into the matter with a view to seeing that the second person, Danladi is immediately arrested.
"He should be made to face the law in compliance with the recommendations of the former attorney-general of the federation and minister of justice,’’ he stated.
According to the petition, part of the allegations levelled against the CCT chairman, include misappropriation of N1 million for his wedding and misappropriation of N4.2 million for external light bulbs.
He was equally accused of fictitious contract for the supply of office furniture and fittings in the sum of N11.4 million, among other allegations.
The Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, directed that the petition be laid before the house.
Dogara ruled that the House Committe on Public Petition should take charge of the matter ‘’for further legislative action’’.
http://pulse.ng/local/danladi-umar-n11m-fraud-reps-receive-petition-against-cct-chairman-id4345794.html My post was meant to reconcile your accusation of him being a political stooge to the time frame stated in the article you quoted. The alleged fraud and the subsequent clean bill of health issued by the EFCC occurred in the last administration. Your assertion may be right and, if so, is an indictment on those in charge of state matters during that period. At present, things have changed in EFCC. The case can be resurrected. |
