Shymexx is making sense, the infrastructure in lagos by international standards can't conveniently contain 10million people, other regions need to step up their game to decongest lag, sometimes I wonder if this country ever had a master plan |

I still say the problem of Lagos is excessive immigration into the state even nyc with it's superior infrastructure are about just 19million, hence the need for other regions of the country to develop to stop the immigration or even reverse it
And as for housing the future is in high rise buildings unfortunately this requires constant power which we do not have, ultimately corruption is our biggest problem which leads to every other problem |

Career › Re: Are University Lecturers Well Paid Than Medical Doctors by docsholz(m): 6:15pm On Dec 27, 2013 |
Adesam01: These two professions are very lucrative but here are the few differences I can identify which I hope may help your decision.
1. Entry level with a bachelors degree in medicine qualify you to earn good amount of money though am not sure of the exact figure when compared to other graduates.
2. Entry level as a lecturer is with a Masters degree which qualify you to be employed as a Lecturer II with average income about #150k.
3. In both profession, you have good and quality time to your self and your family except if you are into private practice which in the case of medicine, engineering etc can be done from home.
4. As a lecturer, you will spend most of your income on research and publications since Nigeria as a country does not have research grant for her researchers but as a medical practitioner, your money is for you and your family.
5. Finally, I stand to be corrected if need be, as you grow older in these professions, you become more relevant as a lecturer if you become a professor but in medicine you become less relevant as patients will prefer young chaps who have up to date knowledge and skills, However if you have enough money, you can set up a hospital to employ new chaps; without that, you will retire home earlier than you can think.
Thanks for reading. Tetrade Cares... ur 5th point is a big error |

Funnicator: I understand but because they werent included in the topic plus the fact that nobody ever talked about them in this thread, i started having a re-think about its importance. Please I need a sincere, honest reply. Radiographers, Optometrists, Pharmacists, which would have best job availability and pay 7 years from now? I'm sorry if I'm derailing. I just feel I would get best answer in this thread. Thanks. Honestly bro I doubt u can get a definite answer since no one can see the future especially in 9ja here, but i'll advice u to chill next year, personally I foresee drastic reforms in d health sector that will affect d future of all healthcare professionals especially if the NMA pulls off the strike action early next year as promised.PEACE |

By Sola Ogundipe Pharmacists, under the aegis of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, PSN, have urged medical doctors to respect the rule of law on the contentious issue of skipping of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure, CONHESS 10. In a statement titled, “Doctors’ Strike: Matters Arising”, PSN President, Mr. Olumide Akintayo, described as “a shame” the insistence by NMA that pharmacists and other health sector workers must not be allowed to skip CONHESS 10. “Doctors should know a thing or two about the rule of law. The issue of skipping of grades has been tested in the law courts and there is a substantive order of the Nigeria Industrial Court, NIC, that pharmacists and other health workers be legitimately allowed to skip CONHESS 10,” he said. |

Jummy mine: if i were the government, I would simlly privatize the health system. It is the only, i repeat, the only way to cure the malady in nigerias health system. it has been done withnNepa, let it be done with all the health workers, doctlrs, nurses and all. I know the part of the health workers that will kick against that, because of privileges they get in nigerias health sector that their colleagues do not get in any other , i repeat, any other country in the world. The closest to that is to bring another country's health system, like the uk, the us, austria, south africa-any good proper country- and impose it on the heath workers, all of them. The said health system should be copied wholesale, so that nobody gets away with bribing senators, reps and judges to get crazy laws passed and mad, unheard of privileges granted. Which of the health workers will be comfortable with these common sense final solutions. i know those who are taking advantage of the government unseriousness and the general sloppines in the civil service will kick against it. This is what will cure the madness in the health sector. privatise ke u wan kill johesu be that |

I know we nigerians like copying foreign countries in everything we do, pls oga jona should copy the US abeg, but i'd rather d doctors fight for things like making healthcare insurance compulsory so there can be more funds for equipping our hospitals |
