I'm only against you attributing the origin of evil to Satan the accursed ...the creation of freewill is a better response..."and maybe that's the best design possible"
Satan is the origin of evil by all means. Before he sinned, there was no sin nor evil.

ok..so it is from the creation of "freewill" afterall and not the devil
Remember that you would have been a robot today without a mind of your own, had GOD not given freewill to you.

However, there is the promise of eternal life and bliss if you choose to obey GOD with your freewill.

The gift of freewill will surely be abused, and rebellion against GOD will surely arise, but woe to the person through whom these will come.

good,

now: you're trying to push the origin of "evil" to push the origin of sin to Satan the accursed and this is not correct

for it begs the question, does God have infinite knowledge? if yes!, that means therefore that He definitely knows that the creation of Satan will also bring sin(assuming Satan created evil)..now if He knows this prior to the creation of Satan and wants a world free of evil Why did he go ahead with the creation of Satan?

the only way we can resolve this is either god has no prior knowledge (that is he doesn't know what he is about to make), which is incorrect.

i won't rush unto concluding...lets have your opinion.

Kay17,

Lucifer was not ejected from Heaven immediately pride was found in him. GOD, ever loving and merciful, cautioned Lucifer severally. Lucifer was jealous of Christ, and argued that Christ deserved a place in the counsels of GOD no more than he himself does. GOD clearly set out the position of His Son, Christ, as GOD. He called a heavenly council and made it clear that all and sundry are to worship and revere Christ just as they worship and revere GOD. But this only stoked the fire of jealousy in Lucifer's heart. He wanted to be worshipped just like GOD. GOD explained to Satan that the path which he was about to take would only bring discord and ultimately lead him to destruction. But all the warnings fell on deaf ears.

Conceit turned into pride, and pride into self-exaltation, and self-exaltation into full-blown rebellion. Lucifer became Satan(adversary), and was cast out, and his doom sealed.

Thus, Satan cannot say he wasn't aware of the consequences of his action.

What do you mean by "a being next in power to the Godhead please"?
Lucifer was very powerful in Heaven. He was the covering cherub of GOD Himself. He stood in the presence of GOD Himself, and beheld His face. He was terrible in power and might, majestic to behold, and was adorned with wisdom surpassed only by the wisdom of GOD. Indeed, he sealed up the sum(Ezek. 28:12). He was the leader of the angels. They delighted to carry out his will(that was why he was able to deceive some of them). The only privilege which Lucifer was not given was knowledge of the counsels of GOD Himself. This is reserved only for GOD.

Thus, Lucifer was next in power only to the GODhead.
Christianity Etc › Re: A Sincere Question For Theists: Where Did Evil Originate From? by DoctorAlien(m): 6:16am On Oct 13, 2016
GOD did not create the angels robots, who would not have a mind of their own. They had the freewill to choose whether to serve Him or not. GOD desires that His Creatures obey and serve Him out of love for Him as their Maker, and the recognition of His excellence, glory, majesty and wisdom. GOD created them with freewill because He wanted to make His nature of love obvious to His creatures, and also for them to understand(as is the case now) that obedience to Him is 100% for their own good.

Satan could choose to rebel against GOD because he was not a robot. He had freewill. That said, the origin of sin and evil in the heart of this terribly powerful, majestic being who once stood in the presence of GOD Himself, is mysterious and unaccounted for.

I just want to ask this question following this logic:-

1. You cant give what you dont have.
2. God doesn't have an iota of Evil
3. God created all things in the universe
4. There is Evil in the universe.

So my question is where exactly did evil originate from, if God is devoid of it (and please the devil is not an answer because he too was created by God)?

Please only matured theists are invited to attempt the question, thanks.

cc: shadeyinka, lordnicklaus, doctoralien e.t.c
Yours is a very intelligent question. The truth is that the origin of sin and evil is mysterious and unaccounted for. It is mysterious because it is hard to understand why a being terribly powerful(next in power only to the GODhead), in the holy and untainted courts of Heaven, would begin to harbour conceit and pride in his heart.

It is pertinent to understand, anyway, that GOD does not force obedience from His Creatures, and that they can choose to worship Him or not.

There is the issue of WW II planes trapped in ice for almost 50 years. If the aircraft were buried under about 250 feet of ice and snow in about 50 years, this means the ice sheet has been accumulating at an average rate of five feet per year. The Greenland ice sheet averages almost 4000 feet thick. If we were to assume the ice sheet has been accumulating at this rate since its beginning, it would take less than 1000 years for it to form.

Also, the estimation of the age of the ice in Antarctica is critically based on the assumption that accumulation rate has not varied greatly over the past.

What do you say?

We can move to ice cores if you want. Or we can terminate.

They only vary if the sample was contaminated. They don't if the sample wasn't contaminated (almost 100% chance). Rocks used to reliably date the earth don't have this problem.

Even if the second pair was contaminated, the isotope1-isotope2 contamination ratio has to be exactly proportional to the isotope1-isotope2 instantaneous decay rate ratio (now keep in mind that the decay rate is not linear) for the dating outcomes to still come out the same for both parent-daughter isotopes, so this is extraordinarily unlikely (literally almost zero!). And even if it happened for one sample, it wouldn't happen for a massive majority of samples.
Who was there when the rock was formed to determine whether they were contaminated(and in what quantity) or not?

If it's for me to answer, I put it to you then that the NIV is too adulterated to be considered a version of the Bible, and consequently a reference for arguments involving the Bible, since it omits a very large number of verses mysteriously.

Please read my posts again. This is the second time that you are asking questions I already addressed.

You did this same thing with blueshifts. I explained that blueshifts as a localized cosmological effect do not contradict the notion of an expanding universe. Localized effects are different from "far field" effects. How many times can I say this? You will successfully challenge the Big Bang if you show that blueshifts occur for galaxies extremely far away from us (tens of millions of light years away or more).

On the contamination topic, I have made it clear that contaminations are easy to detect because the dating results would be different if different isotope dating methods are used.

I assert that you are not debating in good faith.
1. Dating outcomes vary with different pairs of isotopes.

2. How are you sure that the second pair of parent-daughter didn't contaminate the material too?

Another thing you did, which I ignored, was your assertion that the NIV version of the Bible should not be considered to be the Bible. You did this because I showed you that the Book of Mark in NIV acknowledged problems with forgery. This, once again, is not debating in good faith.
But you never provided a reason why many, many verses are missing in the NIV, while this isn't the case with other versions.

I have debunked your key assumption of sample contamination, and you resorted to the statement that the scientists are lying. How else do you want me to engage you if when you run out of rebuttals, you say that the scientists are lying? Look at things from my perspective. I really can't continue if your last resort argument will always be that the scientists are lying.

It shows that you are not debating in good faith.
How did you debunk the fact that materials under examination could have been contaminated by either the parent isotope, or the daughter isotope, or even both in varying quantities, thus, significantly influencing the dating process?

Edited.

I don't know if you read my previous post closely enough. If they were contaminated, the age estimations would be different for different dating methods! And there are cases where this has been observed. Yet, physical scientists do their best to identify rocks with the minimal estimation possible, which is what is done for an incredible majority of samples used. Without contamination, the dated age is the same when different radiometric dating isotopes are used. Several rocks scattered around extreme ends of the earth (as well as from meteorites) have shown a similar ~4.6 billion year age for our solar system. This is inarguable and incontrovertible.
"Scientists" and Big-Bangists can publish any lie they want just to support their claims. We know that there have been many cases where recent materials were given astronomical ages by the "reliable" radiometric dating method.
Christianity Etc › Re: A Discussion between Antiparticle and DoctorAlien on GOD by DoctorAlien(op): 10:39pm On Oct 12, 2016
Suffice it to say that the Big Bang theory disregards the second law of thermodynamics which states that the Universe tends to disorder rather than order. If indeed the Big Bang occurred, there should be just particles of matter distributed in the Universe, and not highly ordered structures like galaxies and the solar system(with intelligent life.).
Christianity Etc › Re: A Discussion between Antiparticle and DoctorAlien on GOD by DoctorAlien(op): 10:35pm On Oct 12, 2016
The blueshift refutes the Big Bang theory. Scientists argue that observed celestial bodies moving away from us(redshift) are as a result of the blast. What about the ones moving towards us? Did they not come from the blast?

LOL. How did they arrive at the conclusion that the universe is 13.8 billion years old?

So Jesus and Paul went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day just to do missionary work? Where did you read that? The Bible says it was Jesus custom to worship on the Sabbath: when do you think this custom started?

Why do you keep the other 9 commandments and refuse to keep the fourth one?

raphieMontella,

What about the fact that ring patterns are not unique? There are many points in a given sequence where a sequence from a new piece of wood matches well (note that even two trees growing next to each other will not have identical growth ring patterns).

It has been recognized that ring pattern matches are not unique. The best match(using statistical tests) is often rejected in favour of a less exact match because the best match is deemed to be incorrect(particularly if it is too far away from the carbon-14 "age" ). So carbon "date" is used to constrain just which match is acceptable. Thus, calibration is a circular process and the tree ring chronology extension is also a circular process dependent on assumptions about the carbon dating system.

These assumptions in themselves are enough to make carbon dating unreliable.
Christianity Etc › Re: Nature: Made For Man Or Indifferent To Man's Existence? by DoctorAlien(m): 5:05pm On Oct 12, 2016
raphieMontella,

Recent research on seasonal effects on tree rings in other trees in the same genus, the plantation pine Pinus radiata, has revealed that up to five rings per year can be produced and extra rings are often indistinguishable, even under the microscope, from annual rings. Evidence of false rings in any woody tree species would cast doubt on claims that any particular species has never in the past produced false rings. Evidence from within the same genus surely counts much more strongly against such the notion.

Claimed older chronologies depend on the cross-matching of tree-ring patterns of pieces of dead wood found near the living tree. This procedure depends on temporal placement of fragments of wood using carbon-14 dating, assuming straight-line extrapolation backwards of the carbon dating.

The process assumes it is correct to linearly extrapolate the carbon clock backwards, and that the system has been in equilibrium for hundreds of thousands of years. Is that so?

Is the solar system not suited for life? Without the sun, would there be life? That the solar system is an accident is your own opinion, and in no way is it the truth.

Prove that the earth is as old as 5 billion years.

Prove that man evolved from whatever.

That diseases and pestilences kill man doesn't mean the earth and the solar system wasn't perfectly created for life. Those are just accidents. A car is perfectly suited for travelling but we still have auto accidents.

But keeping the Sabbath law goes further than that. It includes the fact that you cannot leave your home on the Sabbath (Exodus 16:29), neither could you build a fire or turn on a switch (Exodus 35:3), and you cannot cause anyone else to work (Deuteronomy 5:14). What stops you from being put to death if you break the Sabbath law according to ==>(Exodus 31:15; Numbers 15:32–35)? undecided
Did Jesus sit at home on the Sabbath? I try to keep the Sabbath as Jesus and Paul kept it

I don't cause people to work on the Sabbath, anyway.

Remember, I'm a Christian. Jesus didn't put the woman caught in adultery to death. He forgave her, and bade her sin no more.
