Christianity Etc › Re: "Once Saved, Forever Saved". How Scripturally Balanced Is It? by DoctorAlien(m): 7:09am On Oct 07, 2016
dueal,

"So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don't need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God." Heb. 6:1

The writer was dealing with the basic things about Christ from chapter 1 to 5 of Hebrews. He simply wanted to move forward into the deeper mysteries of Christ from chapter 6.

This verse does not, in any way, support "Once saved, always saved."

Radiometric dating isn't limited to carbon dating only. Carbon dating can be accurate up to around 50,000 years, whereas, other methods like Argon-Argon can be dated up to 4 billion years. In the case of Dinosaur fossils, it's usually easier to date volcanic rocks around them, which should have abundance of radioactive Potassium/Argon to date them.

Tissues that are isolated from air and bacteria can easily last millions of years. This is not at all spectacular.
It's either you didn't read through this thread or you just want me to notice you.

Either way, go back and thoroughly read all my posts on this thread.

OK. Now that you've said it all. And answered your own question. Now address the op. The animals that scientists have chosen to call dinosaurs, how do they fit into creation? Give your own explanation that involves absolutely no speculation. That's all I've asked for.
The above bolded renders the argument dead on arrival.

Your comment here is a huge possibility because according to the law of natural selection dinosaurs are not even supposed to go extinct most especially the T Rex...It was the perfect hunter and carnivore and the strong is supposed to kill off the weak but why or how could such mammoth creatures which instilled fear in smaller animals disappear or probably devolve into smaller more vulnerable creatures.

Too many questions than answers..which is why scientists when trying to explain would always use words like COULD HAVE....MIGHT HAVE....PROBABLY. ....WE THINK... and so on...words of uncertainty. ..yet some people are die hard proponents of what even science is yet unsure of.
You've said it all.

For the sake of argument, let's suppose that dinosaur bones may be older than scientists think they are. How does that support your belief?
No. We are not supposing anything. We want facts. If the identity of dinosaurs is of such a vague and controversial status as this, couldn't we well say that dinosaurs are just fairytale?

Dont 'brother' me. Wait. How old do you think the earth is?

BTW. This was in the link that you gave me. There are various explanations for the soft tissue.
Scientists recover T. rex soft tissue
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON — March 24, 2005 - For more than a century, the study of dinosaurs has been limited to fossilized bones. Now, researchers have recovered 70 million-year-old soft tissue, including what may be blood vessels and cells, from a Tyrannosaurus rex.
If you had a little knowledge of science, especially biology, you would know that the bolded statement above is a joke.

An example of what happens when they aren't preserved by rocks includes fossil fuels like crude oil, which came from organisms probably long before the dinosaurs. [s]Your ignorance is painful to read so if you don't have anything tangible to day, please leave. I asked a question, just answer the question and tell me how you want to fit it into your creation story. That's all I'm asking for. I've never heard creationists involve dinosaurs in their stories.[/s]
Argumentum ad hominem. Logical fallacy.

Kikikiki. So according to you, the crude oil we have now are dinosaurs that were not fossilized? grin

Meanwhile, address the fact that the magma that fossilized those "dinosaur bones" could have been released millions or billions of years after the existence of the dinosaurs.

Or don't mention me again.

In that case the dinosaur bones would be even older than the rock. This would mean dinosaurs are even older than scientists think they are. It's unlikely because bones that are exposed will not last very long. Scavengers like hyenas, bacteria, and acid rain, will destroy them.
Yes. That's the dilemma! It could also be that dinosaurs were older than the rocks in which they were found(that's if those bones belong to dinosaurs).

Don't tell me it's "unlikely." "Unlikely" is no longer science but speculation.

So, according to you, hyenas eat and swallow bones? If bacteria can destroy bones, why have they not destroyed the bones of humans buried thousands of years ago? Chai! Seun go and read. This is embarrassing. grin grin

Moreover, what factors would make a bone not last long if exposed? Can such factors be more damaging to the bone than the terrible, out-of-earth hotness of molten magma?

Igneous rocks are formed by volcanic eruptions. Living creatures get buried by the molten magma/lava before it solidifies, preserving them.
DoctorAlien:
grin So, when the dinosaur died, volcanic eruption quickly happened at the same instance and the bones of the dinosaur was covered in the magma, and so that we are sure that the age of the dinosaur is correct, eh?
Could it not have been that the magma that covered the bones of the dinosaur came from an eruption that happened millions or even billions of years after the dinosaur died? grin grin grin

Definition of igneous rock:
"Igneous rock (derived from the Latin word ignis meaning fire) is one of the three main rock types, the others being sedimentary and metamorphic. Igneous rock is formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava."

So in other words you're saying the lava solidified with the bones and it gives an estimate of the period thy lived.

I feel like I'm wasting my time here, if you don't even know what igneous rock is
grin So, when the dinosaur died, volcanic eruption quickly happened at the same instance and the bones of the dinosaur was covered in the magma, and so that we are sure that the age of the dinosaur is correct, eh?

Your question is vague and a mirage. If we stand on the side of creation of course we would say dinosaurs were created and if they are no longer walking the earth then how does that negate creation?

what would sound crazy is if you also believed that dinosaurs as huge as they are made out to be actually also evolved from a single cell and somehow got conveniently targeted by a meteorite from outer space which erased them from the surface of the earth.

I suggest you rephrase your question or risk giving youself pulmonary embolism due to anger on this thread.

By finding the age of the adjoining igneous rock in whatever stratum they are in.
Kikiki. So, the dinosaur and the rock came about the same time? I thought the earth was billions of years old? According to your evolution, when did dinosaurs come along? Is there no possibility that the igneous rock inside which the "fossil" is found has been there millions or even billions of years before the dinosaur appeared? grin

Carbon dating isn't the only method. It's only used for bodies that are a few thousand years old.

Well, before we discuss how dinosaurs fit into Creation, we have to make sure that the identity of dinosaurs are certain, unambiguous and not questionable.

Without insulting my intellect, I'm asking all creationists who oppose evolution to tell me what happened to the dinosaurs.
Before I answer your question, you'll answer this:

1. Anything that we dig up that is supposedly more than 250 000 years old should have absolutely no radiocarbon in it whatsoever. In the light of this, explain the popular notion that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago.

2. If dinosaurs are really tens of millions of years old, why have scientists found dinosaur bones with soft tissue still in them, including what may have been blood vessels and cells? If you read that your book in context as well, you will read in several places where your God enforced the fourth generations sin avengeance, God ordered genocide of those nations.

Now explain why your God ordered the killing of everything that bear life when God knew there are fetuses and little children who are yet to no the difference between hating or loving God?

You now see how useless your argument of it's only the generation that hate him is?
It'd do us good if you give examples. Please do.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Should You Trust An Arbitrary God? by DoctorAlien(m): 4:57pm On Oct 05, 2016
Isn't it funny that when infidels want to criticize GOD, they either quote His words out of context, or they deliberately omit some words from the verse under consideration?

"Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;" Exod. 20:5

GOD does not punish innocent people because of what their parents may have done. Note the phrase "of them that hate me." It is almost always the case that children will toe the paths of their parents. And so, a sinful man may bring up His children in sinful ways. The man reaps the reward of His sins, the same reward goes down naturally to his children who continue in unrepentant rebellion to GOD.

No man suffers the penalty of another. The soul that sins shall die(Ezek. 18:20).

It is rather unfortunate that the JWs have resorted to either exaggerating some portions of the Bible, or blowing others out of context, just to support their preconceived notions. You fall into error when you begin to try to hammer the Scriptures into a shape that suits your ideology.

I urge everyone to study the Scriptures with the help of the Holy Spirit, humbly asking for the right interpretation from Him who is the Author and the Interpreter of the Scriptures.

This,

Now, what if when you die as a born again Christian, and you get to heaven's gate, and God says to you that he has changed his mind, that you're going to hell, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL ABOUT GOD THEN?
cannot happen.

It is rather funny(or should I say unfortunate?) that you chose to expose your poor knowledge of the character of GOD this way.

"GOD is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?" Num. 23:19

Amen. He has promised us Heaven. He will make it right.
