Nairaland has gone to the dogs! Where is our Nairaland of 2006? Where did all these dull people come out from? Are these comments as a result of the video I just watched or something outside of it?

PoliticsRe: ACN (Tinubu) Is Plunging South West Into Huge And Embarrassing Debts - PDP by doja(m): 3:59pm On Sep 09, 2012
PointB: I don't get it! Why do these clowns asking forumers not to discuss SW? Is SW not part of Nigeria? Is Lagos not the major commercial city in Nigeria? Is there any Nigerian who doesn't have at least one distant relative in Lagos/SW?

How can these jokers imagine that the rest of us are going to keep aloof while emperor Tinubu and his gang of thieving rascals turn Lagos/SW into a criminal empire under our very nose?

No way is gonna happen! We will NOT stay off SW topic, anywho who feels very disturbed about our eyes on Tinubu unrivalled heist in Lagos, should hang of a powerline! We aint going away, even if SW is not part of Nigeria, let alone now!
Now I get it. Your obsession with the people of this region is real. God help you

Nimshi: doja: interesting post.

Most posters aren't posting African authors; I am having a renewed interest in African authors and hope you'd write some more about these two books.

First, Adebanwi: A paradise for maggots - I can't find this book on amazon.co.uk, neither at amazon.com; any leads?

Second: Wole Soyinka 'Interventions 1 & 2' - couldn't find this either; where could one get it?

I find biographies sometimes tedious; a poster above wrote of Bill Clinton's 'My Life'; couldn't get far with this bulky book; perhaps it's just that some familiarity with the subject robs of the enjoyment of reading it. Soyinka's biographies are different though; he explains why . . . But if you have any recommendations, be kind to drop them here

.
Nimshi,

Sorry I have not been here in days. I got Wole Soyinka's 'Interventions 1&2' from Cafe Crystallis in Ibadan(7500 Naira) and Adebanwi's 'Paradise of Maggots' from Booksellers also in Ibadan(5000 Naira)

Paradise of Maggots chronicles the story of africa's most courageous and most succesful anti corruption czar. This riveting narrative of one of Africa's biggest cesspits of graft will leave you gasping for breath, shocked at how our country with abundant resources, was turned into laughing stock of the entire world by its thieving elite. You are likey to be inspired by one man's dangerous battle to reverse the history of graft in the country.

Interventions--- The themes of the series vary literally from the sublime to the ridiculus, from national foibles to the tragic face of nation existence, from citizens derilictions and delinquencies to government criminalities and betrayals of trust, from the celebration of life and other eulogies to lamentations.

I am presently enjoying african writers, I just finished reading ' A Paradise for Maggots' by adebanwi and I am starting 'interventions' volume 1&2 by Wole Soyinka tonight.

My target for the rest of the year is to read atleast 2 more Biographies before the end of the year and my preference is for a mathematician/physicist or a sucessful asian leader .

The best card so far in the country today is the FirstBank VisaGold card. I have used this card for online transactions and it has been a seemless experience. I also get discounts on some website when I use the card. It is a true Premium card as advertised.

FamilyRe: Husband Taking Meat From The Pot Of Soup/stew: Whats Ur Take On This? by doja(m): 9:35pm On Jul 03, 2012
The OP describes me perfectly I hope she is not my wife. The reason I love to take meat from the pot (especially when freshly prepared) is that I really do not like the taste of stale soups and by stale I mean anything after the first day so I prefer to eat as much as I can when all is still fresh.
RomanceRe: Can You Settle Down With A Yahoo Boy? by doja(m): 5:14pm On May 20, 2012
If you can date a yahoo boy then you can date an armed robber.

Whatever investment made with the proceeds of 'Yahoo' will not last in fact, they will bring you more troubles at the end because you will loose everything and you will end up poorer and miserable. You don't expect to live a good life after stealing from other people. These guys are so callous they empty peoples retirement savings in the name of 'maga' and expect to live happily afterward.

If you are a girlfriend to a thief ( forget whatever name you call it -- yahoo, yahoo plus, 419)my only advise to you is to flee now.I know the seemingly good life you enjoy now will not let you. Best of luck!

PoliticsRe: Sanusi For President In 2015? by doja(m): 11:22pm On Sep 19, 2011
Are Nairalanders this ignorant or do we just love to turn a blind eye to the truth and spread falsehood? How does a Sanusi qualifies as a relious bigot, Islamic Banking? Sure a lot of us here need to go and read up the meaning of that term.

I cant understand why educated guys here actually believe there is an agenda to islamize Nigeria!

Sanusi is actually too smart to contest an election in the Nigeria of today so there is no point bothering your head about that. But the truth is that he is one of our best and we should actually look out for him and even beg him to contest an election in Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Where Is The Jonathan We Elected? by doja(m): 12:08am On Sep 08, 2011
You chose this man over Ribadu even when you knew that he is not competent but sentiments took the better of you. Nigeria is on auto-run, by the time the engine runs out of fuel we will then understand that luck cant take us anywhere.
