Business / Re: Nigeria Devalues Naira In Bid To Attract Foreign Investors - Financial Times by donborg(m): 7:59am On Feb 02
chopnaira:

This is what Reno posted.

The Naira is a reflection of the Nigerian. Look, the Central Bank of Nigeria just paid a billion dollars to foreign airlines. Those are airlines flying the same route as Air Peace. Do you know that if you and I, as Nigerians, had flown Air Peace instead of foreign airlines, that $1 billion would have stayed and circulated in Nigeria? And when dollars and pounds stay in Nigeria, the Naira rises in power. If they leave Nigeria, our Naira goes lower and lower.

The Central Bank had to cough up $200 million to pay for human hair, as if God did not give our women hair. This is hair that Indian, Bangladeshi, and Southeast Asian women cut and dedicate to their temples. They then barely process the hair and label them Brazilian, European and Peruvian hair, and our women rush to buy them, wear them, and shake the hair angrily to accuse Tinubu of ruining the economy. If I were Tinubu, I would ban the importation of human hair. Fact-check this, as a nation, Nigeria spends more on human hair than on books.

The Naira is now our collective responsibility. When you go to Quilox to spend ₦5 million on Moët, Louis XIII Cognac, and Glenfiddich, then post your receipt on social media, you are putting downward pressure on the Naira.

Containers on the high seas coming to Nigeria with things we can produce in Nigeria are killing the Naira. There is no magic wand. If we don't band together to stand together and buy made in Nigeria, the Naira will continue to go asunder!

#TableShaker

Reno Omokri is just putting the cart before the horse. You can't ask Nigerians to grow their economy just like that out of magic then blame Nigerians for their choices of life. It's just like blaming a man who you asked to till the land without giving him a hoe and Cutlass, for not doing his job. How can a bare hand till the ground? That's preposterous.

The primary problem of Nigeria is that the Banks in Nigeria do not make their profits by growing the economy., hence their high interest rates of 20 percent ( highest in the world). No country in the world can grow it's economy with such an interest rate without foreign investment.

The Federal Government of Nigeria BRIBES THE BANKS TO KEEP THE INTEREST RATES HIGH. The likes of Reno Omokri knows this fact but will never say the truth.

Every month, The FG instead of giving dollar earnings to the states to use as they wish, converts the dollar into Naira, then goes to the CBN for the naira equivalent. The CBN then goes to the banks and borrows the cash at the prevalent interest rate, thereby ensuring handsome, stable profit for Nigerian banks every month doing absolutely nothing.

With this, what incentives will the banks have to take the risks and grow the economy by lowering interest rates to like 5 percent (like in Europe and America)?

If the Nigerian government is truly serious about diversifying our economy from oil, they should lower the interest rates of the Banks. They should stop giving banks awoof money every month so they'll lend money to the real sectors of the economy.

The government should also stop the multiple exchange rates and merge it into one.

Politics / Re: The Use Of IREV-Portal And BVAS-Machines In Nigerian Elections: The Way Forward by donborg(m): 9:56am On Feb 01
BluntCrazeMan:
If you followed the Adeleke court case very well,, it was even that Adeleke’s supreme court judgement that dealt IREV-Portal the very first serious blow.

How exactly did they give him the blow?
By making him Governor?

I guess Peter-Obi over-trusted the IREV-Portal actually, because he was hoping the IREV to have ALL the results clearly uploaded to it, so that he can then gather all his evidence from there., And even use it to prove that je won..
You can imagine that.
He never knew that INEC had other plans for him.
The INEC struck him badly by making the IREV-Portal totally useless to him.
He couldn't get all the results of the polling-units from the IREV (even up till this very moment)..
He cannot even use the faulty results in the IREV-Portal to establish that they were wrong results or mutilated results, because he so much trusted that all the data in the IREV are going to be the clear results that were electronically transmitted from the polling-units without any interference from anybody..
Thus, he believed that he would get all the data he needed from the IREV-Portal.
He had no other independent sources of data to back himself up...
Anyways, let us assume that he had learnt his lessons though.

Peter Obi also charged INEC to court. All he had to do was to ask the court to compel INEC to use the results of the IREV, as used with Adeleke, under their own rules and declare him the winner of the most valid votes and as President. Peter had with him the results of all IREV votes needed to declare him the winner. But he buckled just like Zik did before him. Igbo leaders and cowardice.

In my life, I have never seen someone dispute an election because of rigging and not ask the court to declare him the winner of the election. Peter Obi really surprised me with his cowardice.

Going by the available results on the IREV-Portal as at this very moment, Tinubu still came first, Obi came second, Atiku came third.
That's why he knew that going that angle wouldn't favour him, and he dropped it.

And then, while analysing the IREV results properly,, there are serious proofs that there were over-voting in lots of polling-units,, INCLUDING LOTS OF POLLING-UNITS IN THE FIVE SOUTH-EASTERN STATES TOO WHERE HE WON WITH VERY HIGH MARGINS..
But then, if he had really wanted to have all those polling-units where over-voting occured to be cancelled, and fresh-elections conducted again in such polling-units, and backed himself up with the sufficient evidence in the IREV-Portal, he might have had a very good case.
Nevertheless,, the election is behind us now.

Future elections are ahead.

IREV will be used to determine the next election. It is in the law and is irrevocable unless the electoral act 2023 is amended.

That Peter Obi chose not to fight for his mandate shows that he is no different from the average politician. And the average politician is very comfortable with fraudulent elections

Let's keep watching and observing, and also learning at the same time.

Is it not the same IREV davido's Uncle Adeleke used to win the gubernatorial Election in Osun state?

Contrary to most belief, Peter Obi never took the IRTeV seriously else he would have won at the court. This is because he never asked the court to make him President rather he tacitly' admitted 'defeat' by asking the court to disqualify Tinubu and Shettima and for a new election to be done_ an impossibility that ll surely lead to chaos if implemented.

I don't know if Obi took bribes from Tinubu because for him not to have asked the courts to make him the winner with more votes according to IREV is very suspicious and would have only benefited Tinubi

IREV has come to stay. In 2027 a serious Politician from perhaps the North will definitely use it to win the election against Tinubu

After collecting your own share of the Tinubu largesse in order to file a fraudulent election Petition to the Tribunal you're now apparently critical of the Tinubu government.

Nonsense. Tinubu has to recoup his investments times 10 he gave you and many other Politicians in his quest for power. So he is going to continue to steal and borrow and steal till Nigeria implodes.

Politics / Re: Pictures Of Armed Biafran Nations League Militants by donborg(m): 10:59am On Nov 02, 2023

The Biafran Nations League, BNL, are a group of armed militants who operate mainly in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. They are made up of ethnic Ibibios, Efiks, and Orons. They are agitating that the two States be part of Biafra when it emerges.

Although the group is not associated with with other Biafran groups such as IPOB and MASSOB, they have demanded in the past that all Biafran agitators held by the Nigerian government, including IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, be released. The group also does not recognize the authority of Cameroun over the Bakassi peninsula, part of which they control, and have had clashes with the Camerounian Army.

Another odd thing about BNL is that they like to hoist the Biafran flag sideways, rather than upright. Nobody is sure who leads the group

The essence of these policies is to kill importation business and make Nigeria a production country.
Your business is not the only business that is dying, many business that depends on dollar has closed down and more will close too.

Time is coming when Naira will hit 5000 to a dollar. When this happens, foreign products will be difficult to purchase and we will have no choice but to buy made in Nigeria goods cos even a pair of foreign pants will be so expensive that only politicians can afford it while the rest of us will wear plantain leaves.

It's so annoying that the average secondary school student knows the dollar to naira exchange rate, that shows how we depend so much on the dollar and killing our own naira.
Until we patronize our own companies, we can't grow the economy, this painful stage is called the transition stage from foreign to local, the govt is not the problem but the time it takes Nigerians to accept the Nigerian goods will determine how long the pain will last.

In the next five years, we will fully accept our own economy and in the next ten years, we will have an economy that will beat France and Germany cos we have the market already.

Government that wants us to produce in Nigeria, how many companies have they established in Nigeria?

Apart from paying overbloated salaries to redundant civil servants who produce nothing, how exactly are they contributing to Nigeria's development?

In June 2015, the Central Bank announced that some 41 items were “Not Valid for Foreign Exchange”, on the grounds that they could easily be produced in Nigeria rather than being imported into the country.

Some of the affected items include rice, cement, margarine, palm kernel, palm oil products, vegetable oils, meat and processed meat products, vegetables and processed vegetable products, poultry, tomatoes/tomato paste, soap and cosmetics, and clothes.

Other items include private airplanes/jets, Indian incense, tinned fish in sauce, cold rolled steel sheets, galvanised steel sheets, roofing sheets, wheelbarrows, head pans, metal boxes/containers, enamel ware, steel drums and pipes, wire mesh, steel nails, wood particle boards, and panels.

Equally affected were security and razor wire, wood particle and fiber boards and panels, wooden doors, furniture, toothpicks, glass/glassware, kitchen utensils, tableware, tiles (vitrified, ceramics), textiles, wooden fabrics, plastic/rubber products, polypropylene granules, and cellophane wrappers.

The apex bank subsequently added fertiliser and maize/corn to the list of banned items.

According to the apex bank at the time, the I&E market functions by a “willing buyer, willing seller” system, where an entity with demand for FX seeks out another entity with FX to sell at an agreed price through an authorised dealer.

Since when did Nigerians start producing airplane jets and their parts?

Good afternoon Nl family
Please pardon my epistle

My husband lost his job two years ago and ever since he has been so reluctant on getting another.. not to brag but I can say I have been the one keeping the family going ever since the job incidence (not like I ever complained) .

What I noticed about him is he now drinks and smokes and he is always hissing (obviously he is not happy and I try to always console him just to elate his Spirit)

Fast forward to last two months.. I got back from work and I was very tired.. I had to go pick the kids from school , bathe them, feed them and to make matters worst I wasn't feeling too alright .. (when I got home he (my husband) wasn't at home)

When I was done with the kids and fixing the house I was so tired I thought to myself to take a lil nap that was how I slept off (and this was around 9pm) ..

He got back around 10pm obviously drunk and smelling like a skunk.. he went straight to the kitchen. That was how the whole problem started.. first was insult.. then my phone, smashed it on the ground later my clothes he started tearing them .. saying all those things he was destroying was why I was feeling untouchable that he knows I have male friends sleeping with me..

I tried securing my items so he doesn't destroy more things that was how he pounced on me..

The next day I got him arrested he spent two days there.. but now I feel so guilty... He doesn't talk to me anymore.. I have apologized times without number

I don't just know what to do...

Nb: even while he was there I was still taking food to him

After arresting him, you shouldn't have begged him. You should have demanded he apologized to you and signed a letter of undertaking not to touch you. Then you leave the house for him for sometime till he comes and beggs you to come back to the house..

How do Nigerians get rich ?

Basically, many are not even living an average life. We are living below the average.

I have been wondering, how can i escape from this "below average life" or "average life"?
i look around me and watch the TV. On the media and in songs, you hear different adoration of some Nigerians who had achieved the wealth threshold. How did they do it? i am sorry if i sound crazy!

For some of these rich people, you wonder, how was the struggle?
How were they able to build their friendship base. How were they able to survive the government's myriad taxation.
may bodies under the state government will charge you, my bodies under the federal government will charge you too.
if taxation doesn't kill your business, you go dey pray make thieves no ruin your business.

i would have asked, How do people get rich around the world, but the world is too large and answers i might get may not be applicable to the society i currently live in.
big respect to everyone that has been able to achieve wealth...
