The governors need to take the initiative by building roads, getting fire service to work, upgrade markets, assist local police to check crime.
Abia is getting it. Anambra is also on track.
Imo need to change leadership for true development Mention 3 things Alex Otti has done please |

MrGlobe: Some weeks ago, I posted that Peter Obi was the worst governor in the history of Nigeria and some folks disagreed. Since I have gathered my facts and left the state after a brief stinct I will start giving reasons. Mbadinuju was heavily criticized but he built Iyi gu estate, Udoka, commissioners quarters and others in the state, Which I hear are standard. Ngige did roads. Peter has done Nothing! Ever! The question is where is Anambra State funds? Its high time they started calling for Obi's Impeachment, Shikena. Abi is it military regime? Okoro |

FreeGlobe: Governor Peter Obi and the SABmiller Scandal - the issues raised by Chudi Offodile:
1. The President need not go to Onitsha to commission the SABmiller brewery. It would amount to an endorsement of a sordid affair and may embolden other foreigners who design and put into effect, different and newer corruption techniques with government officials.
2. In the history of corruption in Nigeria, the Onitsha brewery scandal will rank as the most brazen.
When I first raised the issue a few months ago, apart from a rain of insults I received from government agents, 3. the Attorney General, Peter Afuba, directed me to the corporate affairs commission to obtain information about the company.
4. But a search at the corporate affairs commission did not yield any information on SABmiller brewery, Onitsha, which is the name the state government repeatedly called the company.
5. The government itself refused to release any information on the ownership of the company except to say that Anambra state invested 2 billion naira for a 10% stake in the SABmiller brewery with “other businessmen”.
6. The identity of the so called ‘other businessmen’ remained a closely guarded secret until I stumbled upon a company, in the records of the corporate affairs commission, called INTAFACT BEVERAGES LIMITED with registration no 680933, incorporated by the firm of Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie.
7. The company has British and South African directors with a nominal share capital of 40,000,000 Naira divided into 400 ordinary shares of 100,000 Naira each.
8. The interpretation clause of the memorandum and articles of association of the company defines ‘state’ as Anambra state government and ‘next’ as Next international limited of Nado House, 98 modebe avenue, Onitsha.
9. The position of Chairman is to be occupied by a Nigerian. The Obi of Onitsha is on the shortlist for the position.
10. 300 of the 400 ordinary shares worth 30,000,000 were allotted to the following shareholders as at April 2011: Sabmiller Nigeria holdings—230 ordinary shares, Anambra state government—40 ordinary shares and Next International Nigeria Limited—30 ordinary shares.
11. Intafact Beverages Limited is the owner of the brewery in Onitsha.
12. Keep in mind, the fact that Next international limited, one of the three shareholders of Intafact Beverages Limited, is owned by Anambra state Governor, Peter Obi and his family.
13. It turns out, that the mysterious ‘other businessmen’ is no other than the Governor himself. Alas, the gods are naked!
14. Part of the land on which the brewery stands in bridgehead, Onitsha, belongs to a company called International Steel Industry Limited, Onitsha. The land was allocated to the company in 1975 by the defunct East Central State government. The company had developed the over 7 acre property and paid ground rent on the property up until 2011.
15. Indeed, the certificate of occupancy was recertified by Governor Obi on the 5th of March, 2010. Yet, Obi went ahead and revoked the right of occupancy of International Steel Co and awarded same to Intafact Beverages Limited, a private company in which he has interest.
16. The land was revoked for “overriding public interest” and re awarded to a private company for “overriding personal interest”. It is illegal to revoke a parcel of land for overriding public interest and grant the same parcel to a private company.
17. It becomes immoral and symptomatic of greed, avarice and a capricious abuse of state power, when the beneficiary of the revocation is the Governor himself.
18. SABmiller, based in South Africa, is said to be the biggest brewery group in the world. Its investment in Nigeria is speculated to be more than a 100 million us dollars.
19. A good deal for Nigeria and Anambra state no doubt. But it appears that in an attempt to expand its operations in Africa, it has gotten itself entangled in a web of corruption and unethical conduct. 20. Governor Obi personally handled all negotiations between Anambra state government and Sabmiller group and visited South Africa several times on the subject. 21. Did Sabmiller allocate the shares in Intafact Beverages Limited to Next international limited as “bribe” to further its business interest in Nigeria? 22. (a)What did Governor Peter Obi have in mind when he invested 2 billion naira of Anambra state money in a company he has direct interest? (b) What other assets of Anambra state did he contribute on behalf of the state to further his own business interest? (c) Did Next international [Obi’s company] pay for the shares allotted to it in ‘cash or kind’ and how was the payment, if any, effected? (d) What does Governor Peter Obi understand by the oath he swore to, on assumption of office; “that I will not allow my personal interest to influence my official conduct or my official decisions”.
23. To address these questions and more, an international enquiry into the activities of Sabmiller group in Nigeria and the operations of Next International limited and the possible interface of its accounts with that of Anambra state government should commence without further delay.
24. To this end, I shall be forwarding a letter to Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister for Justice, the British government, the government of South Africa and the United States Department of Justice demanding for this investigation.
25. With the investigation that is sure to come, it will not be advisable for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to be the one ‘commissioning’ the controversial brewery. They may drag the name of the President into their sleazy deal with a claim that the arrangement was approved by the President. 26. Orient Petroleum on the contrary, was set up in a most transparent manner as a private company in 2001. The stake of the Anambra State government in the company is about 3%. It is an indigenous company in almost every sense and proudly so. Its office is in Awka, Anambra State with the board and the management populated by eminent citizens of the state. 27. The rig used in the production process belongs to Casmir Maduafokwa from Anambra State.
28. The storage vessels moored on the banks of Anambra river, into which the crude flows, enabled by a 10 kilometer flow line, belongs to Cletus Ibeto, a category [A] investor in the Orient project who is also from Anambra state. The ingenuity of our people is on full display. This is despite the antics of a noisy state government seeking to take credit for the efforts and achievements of a private company, that had to construct a 25 kilometre road with its lean resources to enable about 40 trailers navigate the huge rig to the wellhead in Anambra River 1. I welcome President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan [GCFR] to Anambra state, to inaugurate the first oil production from an inland basin in Nigeria by Orient Petroleum and Refinery Company plc.
29. While in Anambra state, Mr President should avoid the controversial precincts of the drunken brewery giant, SABmiller.

Abagworo: I believe Nigerians have deteriorated to an alarming psychological state which calls for emergency proliferation of multiple psychiatric clinics. Instead of you to oppose constructively, you've brought in unnecessary tribalism and name-calling. Every sane person knows Obi's performance has been dismal. As someone who often visited Awka and Nnewi, I once criticized him on Nairaland but had to stop because some people just like Obi made it seem like any other Nigerian criticizing Obi hates Anambra State. The impact of Ngige's short stay is still felt far more than Obi's 6 years. |
Politics › Re: Exposed! Governor Peter Obi Is A Fraud. by donbrowser(m): 8:32pm On Apr 29, 2024 |
Kingsley1000: Governor Peter Obi's government is a huge fraud; this government is full of deceit. The living conditions of our people by all indications have become more miserable. There is a total embargo on employment. The governor is not creating jobs it covenanted in his campaign brochures to use to fight crimes. The only attempt at creating jobs is the purchase of few mass transit mini buses and the terror machine known as Anambra State Traffic Agency (ASTA). None of these ASTA staff have received salaries since they were employed in January 2008. ASTA and other Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) agents employ Gestapo tactics to terrify the citizens in the name of generating and hitting the N1 billion monthly revenue benchmark set out by the State government. The Health situation is alarming. The doctors in Anambra have been on strike two times in nine months. And the entire hospitals were shut over three months. And our Governor says he does not know why they were strike. It took few days for Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State to resolve a similar case. Primary health care in Anambra State has virtually collapsed and that was part of the reasons the doctors went on strike. Yet somebody is celebrating the accreditation of a general hospital and the building of the first kidney dialysis centre, which is certain, will not be completed in four years. People are trapped daily in agonizing traffic snarls as a result of the total uninterrupted neglect of our roads or the recent shoddy and withy - washy rehabilitation of roads by the government in response to pressures of my strident criticisms. Awka is still like a war devastated area. Not even the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Junction Fly-over started by his predecessor in 2006 has been completed. The lives of Anambra State citizens are now miserable, nasty and brutish. Our educational sector is in a parlous state. Even Agulu Boys in the governor's hometown and the governor's alma mater, the St Joseph's Boys Secondary School in Agulueri, are in a descript state. Agulu Boys was the best in infrastructure some years back. Please take a visit there and you will shed tears. Number of students per class is averaging 55. None of the workers of the state was paid salary last December. Water Corporation staff are yet to be paid since the governor came into office, they are starving to death and over 40 have died. ANSEPA staff are owed over 22 months salary. Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha are dirtier. No pipe borne water in the state, which is a record in the country. When the Water Corporation pensioners brought their predicament to me I wrote the Governor but he gave no heed. When I heard his argument on the matter on the television, it flew in the face. I took the matter before the House of Assembly for investigation. I was shocked that the Assembly approved the sum of N805m in 2006 for the payment of all arrears of salaries and pensions of workers and retirees in 2007. To my greatest shock, on the floor of the House, the governor's Special Adviser Engr. Nick Obi, admitted that the N805 million was kept in the bank and that the governor was arranging to give out the money as a loan to a private federal contractors to revive the Water Corporation. Till date that money is still lying in the bank accumulating interest and the loan is yet to be given and the workers are dying everyday. The interests are yet to be accounted for. And the bank is trading with this money. I have never regretted any action I took between 2003 and 2006 (role in frustrating Obi's impeachment)to confront what I saw as an unacceptable onslaught on democracy and rule of law. I am indeed prepared to defend our Governor again should such circumstances as the unlawful declaration of a looser of an election as the winner or his unconstitutional impeachment arise again. It is the system that we seek to defend and protect, but there must always be beneficiaries of such struggle to sustain our democracy. Obi is the principal beneficiary of the rule of law, But in his nearly four years in office he has done the opposite. The government directed that the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), even against National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) code of conduct, not to relay opposition views, not to carry news on bad roads or requests of any community on government. In fact, the governor uses more than one third of the air time on State Media campaigning for second term. An erected N100 million mast, without a dummy load, which he procured for ABS Channel 24 that does not go beyond Enugu Agidi, bought through a Yoruba front has collapsed. An N18m sports complex is yet to be completed in almost four years. The other day it was reported that his wife spends about N10m from the budget of the Ministry of Women Affairs on each of her tour of the 177 communities. I would want the EFCC and ICPC to immediately move in to investigate if such expenditure of public funds by one who is neither elected nor appointed into a government. Multiply N10m by 177, it gives us over 1.7 billion wasted on second term tour. The EFCC needs to investigate these and the notorious allegations of government's funds changing hands between contractors and the governor, Fidelity and Intercontinental Banks. EFCC should investigate the flying allegations of massive embezzlement of local government funds by the State Executive. But Obi’s administration is only better in deception. A government which cannot match the little achievements recorded by Chris Ngige cannot be better in real terms. This government is elevating the art of deception as a tool of governance. How will this government package itself as performing when it is not? And use our hard earned money and scarce resources to project achievements that do not exist or at best, white elephant or withy -washy projects. This Government lives on advertorial; in pamphlets; in gigantic billboards; in calendars and almanacs, websites and other media. This government does not live in the heart of the people. This government is a combination of the incompetence of Mbadinuju and the fraud of Enugu's Chimaraoke Nnamani in elevating dishonesty, and deceit as a tool of governance. The Governor has recently purchased three bullet proof armoured jeeps. And don't forget that Ngige did the dualisation of the Bridgehead to Lagos Park of the expressway five years ago. You can't find a single pothole on that portion or any portion of the over 300 km roads Ngige did since 2004. Throughout the year 2008, the Governor first went to town telling people that all the dilapidated roads in the State were federal roads and that it is federal government duty to rehabilitate them. When people like us put pressure on him by going to the public to remind him that Ngige did federal roads with about N6 billion of the state funds even when we had a hostile federal government that could be said to be at war with our state, our dear governor shifted ground and now claimed that Mr. President has refused to grant him permission to do the federal roads in spite of his several written requests. But sensing that campaigns for the 2010 Gubernatorial Election will start early 2009, he made somersault and started flagging off the construction of the same federal roads. Ngige never engaged in advertisements. He never printed any leaflet or pamphlet or almanac or calendars to advertise his achievements. Nor did he create fictitious email, websites, and amorphous organizations to praise him. All the works done was a case of res ipsa loquitor, speaking for themselves. If you were in Adazi or Isuanioma and other places last Christmas at occasions where Obi and Ngige met, you will pity Obi. He was thoroughly humiliated while Ngige got standing ovations. This year the Governor hurriedly disappeared from a wedding he attended in Lagos upon hearing that Ngige would be arriving same place. It turned out that a mischief who did not want the governor to use the ceremony to campaign for his second term had dropped the false tale of Ngige's attendance to scare the Obi away and it worked. Whatever the government is doing now is geared at hoodwinking us that he is doing something. He could not do anything in the first three years of his government. Now at the last lap, he wants to deceive us that he is doing something because I have put him under critical searchlight. Even the roads started by Ngige and Virgy Etiaba, when she was governor, were abandoned. He knows that Nigerians are lazy when it comes to research. He is simply playing on people's intelligence Mention the school Obi built please |

Winning123: Do you mind them. Reno will take them to the cleaners with this silly response. Reno would have done his homework before placing the challenge. They should have just ignore him. Now he will harmer them add. I have done a similar challenge last year. None of them could come up with a single school built by Peter Obi 😂 |

Max24: What I can take from all this back and forth is that Obi did not build any school as gov. Chikena ! Many of them don't even know the man they support The ones that know him are still trying hard to defend the indefensible |

DMerciful: You did not say the truth, you only speculate. Was Rochas not made governor? He was insulted for woeful performance just same way Uzodinma is being insulted. Why was Ikpeazu not insulted? |

Splendid235: I just read a post here on nairaland where the wives of Ademola Adeleke are dragging about the first lady position, the link below:
https://www.nairaland.com/8069696/titilola-adeleke-osun-first-lady
My take is that it is unfair for the governor to make the second wife his first lady when the first wife is still alive. For the benefit of doubt, Ngozi is the first wife, see confirmation link below:
https://www.nairaland.com/7618361/breaking-news-meet-2-wives. This is what brings trouble in a home. Probably, the governor wants to please his people on the alter of tribalism.
I have continued to advocate a peaceful dissolution of this unholy marriage called NIGERIA,that is causing all of us pains. This union is not taking anybody anywhere. If our people can show tribalism in this type of scenario, why are we in one country? Stella Obasanjo was first lady for 8 years despite Iya Iyabo being the first wife, you didn't call for the dissolution of Nigeria then, did you? |
