Oasis. You really are disrupting the flow of the thread. This is excessive and ultimately meaningless.. This is literally what spamming is. It's difficult having to scroll past numerous rubbish. Please dial it down! No one buys what you're selling.. Every single polling conducted here should have told you that.. If you were in this country, this would be understandable. But the fact that you won't vote for this sick drug criminal but keep making noise about him is just insulting. You are massively messing up the thread.. 10 consecutive posts just talking rubbish. Haba now. |
seankafor:There is no evidence that the old woman is suffering from dementia. Secondly, where is it said that Demetia patients are this insulting to their caregivers? I'm sure being treated like this was definitely not part of what anybody signs up for. |
Oshoimole will lose and this nonsense propagandist will become useless after next week.. It will always be noted that this poster was in cahoots with a nairaland moderator who always pushed all his posts no matter how nonsensical to the front page for exposure. In other words, nairaland accepts payment for political propaganda and frontpage features. Such a shame. |
seankafor:I remember when I first watched this video, the amount of fury I had towards it. What's actually infuriating now is some comments from Nigerians under this tweet trying to rationalize it. As in? We are ready to defend just about anything. Anything at all. Such a pity. An old woman is extremely condescending towards her care giver and someone's first thought is "what about nigerian employers who do worse". How does this justify what you are seeing right now? |
Bombblacks:Hmmm. Taking an argument to it's logical extreme. Nice. |
Amoto94:Amoto who are the so called innocent boys I blended and where did I support incest?? Ibrahim can you show us where any of these happened? |
ribbit:The way you people think is just disgusting!! The need to always add tribal addendums or xenophobic rants is just astonishing. Are you saying that because people emigrated to a place, they don't have the right to criticize the place they now stay in or it's policies maybe? How do you guys keep dredging up this useless talking point? You go to other cities of the world, you see them accept criticism without all these xenophobia but that of Lagos is being treated differently why? Many new yorkers today are immigrants from other places but on the news, you get to constantly hear how newyork is crime laden and the streets are dirty. This is criticism by the politicians and many of them are treating the issues seriously. But once one points out some problems in Lagos, people start saying they should go back to where they're from.. I'm sure that you yourself are not even a lagosian but somehow you are telling others to either keep quiet and go back. |
Wonderful submissions from all sides. Very similar to the arguments had on that same thread.. You see what I mean when I say we all grow intellectually when these kinds of conversations are had. Dayo makes a good point when he says we as humans MUST have certain standards we set for ourselves, else we become just like the lesser animals we have already evolved past.. But I guess the ultimate question still begs, what are the ultimate parameters to determine those "standards" we set for ourselves? For example, all societies generally frowns upon murder. That's someone killing another person. But in the same vein we tend to celebrate soldiers some of whom are serial murderes. In fact the more human beings on the opposite side a soldier kills, the more celebrated he becomes. And his "cause" {the wars he fights in}is determined simply by what the leaders of that army says is justifiable. Look at Russia, Ukraine. Two sister nations with shared cultures, language, cuisine and everything. Today brothers are killing brothers simply because the leaders are fighting over control of land space. And the soldiers on both sides are celebrating the murder of the opponents. But these same people all believe that murder is bad. So you see. "Morality" is indeed man made which is why I guess, we must all try individually to be accommodating and tolerant towards divergent views. Something religious folks can barely afford. |
Roland17:I don't know about that. They do have some prominent conservatives voices and opinions there. That's what makes the entire place lively. And the moderation is superb too. |
Ibime:Please I am not in anyway advocating for this oo. We are only discussing it's perceived morality.. We all believe incest is bad, but "what" exactly makes it bad? That's basically what the university question is asking to be discussed. The perceived morality.. WHY IS INCEST BAD? I continue to put a disclaimer, my post is in no way an advocacy but we all grow intellectually when such difficult questions are posed. |
BlueRayDick:Just seeing this now, that's why I put an "if" there.. In the old days, your sources of information were limited, whether right or wrong information. Many were at the mercy of traditional mainstream media. Which is why criminals like James Ibori, murtala Mohammed, sani abacha and atiku are still celebrated in some parts of this country. Today, you can see any information you look for only "if" you wish to look for it. Those magazines you were reading, you couldn't tell if they also contained some tools of propaganda for certain elements in the society be it politicians or business men who sought image laundering. |
Just saw this on frontpage. So students who were just returning to vote for peter obi had accident on the road and some lost their lives. Nigeria claims yet another life prematurely. I feel terrible whenever I hear news of road accidents, I swear. https://www.nairaland.com/7577816/madonna-students-returning-election-burn |
Roland17:Well said, which is why I think it's acceptable to say some societies have advanced much faster than others in terms of morality. But then that very statement becomes a paradox. Because while some look at the advanced society as being on a path of retrogression or moral decay, they uphold traditional conservative values which they believe is morally superior to the evolved and advanced moral society. As I said, a very funny paradox. ![]() |
Omo.. things dey happen sha. One thing led to another, and here we are. I swear reddit is another world on its own. I'm like a child who just discovered a treasure trove of something. . What you see there no be wetin them dey talk for mouth. ![]()

larride:That word is basically the bone of contention here.. What are the parameters upon which to decide what is "right" or "wrong"? In a world of 8 billion people, with more than a million different societies and different ways of life, upon which universal standard can we claim what is "right" or "wrong"? You said earlier that our culture and traditions are against it. But that isn't a yardstick to guage the rightness of morality because many of our past traditions have proven to be wrong and downright barbaric. Example, senseless killing of twins.. Just as our society forbids incest, some societies in Asia approve of it and look favorably upon it. Mind you I make no justification for it whatsoever. Just reading the logical positions of people there. The more I read opinions there, the more my jaw dropped. |
An interesting thread stumbled upon in reddit. A university in Islamabad, Pakistan asked it's students to write an essay on whether it is right or wrong for a brother and sister to have had casual sex. Then further clarifications are given in the comments. And it's quite an eye opening thread on morality. And the entire concept of right and wrong in our society. Insightful stuff I tell you.

The real abroadians. People who have genuine goodwill towards this country. No be people wey go dey mock efforts of those trying to change this country for good. https://www.nairaland.com/7577094/photos-obidients-diaspora-returning-home |
afrodoc2:There are 2 ways of looking at this. The internet has ensured that one can see all sides of a story IF the person looks for it but there is also the risk of algorithms putting people deep into rabbit holes and ensures confirmation biases thus falling prey to targeted propaganda. But I believe that it is much easier to spot and break free from propaganda today than it was many years ago when we depended on traditional media houses. |
Theflint1:This is actually very Informative, thank you. Now can this 3 kilowatt inverter carry let's say, at least 2 AC's simultaneously and a borehole pump singularly? |
larride:I will appreciate. Thanks. |
Livelongnprospar, nice one bringing the info here about obi. You beat me to it. I'm really ashamed of the obidients here. ![]() Allowing wicked rascals to run amok.. People who can't tell you where their candidate is from or who his father is, that's the people opening mouth and you are just watching them spew the wickedness of their heart. While they themselves are exempt from everything. Not even being able to vote for who they are campaigning for. No be juju and wickedness combined be that?? |
Meanwhile, please is there anyone here with experience of solar installation?? Is anybody here using solar or aware of it's installation prices. Say someone has a budget of 2.5m. what is the expected generating and storage capacity? |
BlueRayDick:I'm interested in hearing more of that story. |
Let me just be silent. I no get time tonight. |
On wike, When you have a bad market to sell. |
"Obi has a false aura of integrity". ![]() Always the BATstards trying to equate all candidates as bad because they support a morally repugnant candidate who should be in prison by now. A candidate who was only governor of Lagos state for 8 years but somehow became the richest politician in Nigeria. Without any verifiable business. This is who people support and then want to bring all politicians as the same as the narcotics baron. Thunder dey do press up for una. |
12 million block votes in the mud.

Interesting insights here about the psychology of religion.

"If one examineth one's neighbors closely, he will find differences enough so that no one is safe from the charge of witchery. But is that what we seek in this new world? Methinks not. The hope of this world lieth in our acceptance of all differences, and a recognition of our common humanity." ........ Samantha Stevens. |
