You can't use 1 case out of maybe 10k drivers as your parameter. That's fallacy of hasty generalization.
Except if you are not a driver, that's when you will call this a fallacy.

In case you didn't really understand, let me elaborate further for you. What I was saying in essence is, this job collects from you as much as it gives you. You aren't taking anything out of it if you are not careful. The tool you use for the job is a very delicate one.

Lemme break it further... For a teacher that earns let's say 100k a month... You can easily plan your life around that 100k and live fine to your standard. Your school principal or proprietor is not taking from that money. You don't buy chalk nor duster out of it. But this hustle, I bet there is none of us that calculates our gross and remove maintenance money before declaring our nets.... Once you remove BOLT commission and Fuel money, all the rest is your net and you spend all on whatever you want... The day ordinary tyre will burst, you will start begging your friends for money to buy a new one... Okada will remove your mirror, headlamp will break, bumper will remove, battery will die, shock will burst... All these money will come out from where?

Even a Carpenter will use one hammer for years before he buys another one. But you, you are always repairing your tool here n there.

In this my last post, Pearl1910 say na dust yarns, ah no need follow am argue.... Here is an image to buttress my point.... Ah dey Gross 70k with 10k fuel, na dem be that.

same goes to all other jobs and business out there. So don't limit it to Uber drivers alone.

Even in the saner climes nobody depends on one job to succeed.so your analysis is wrong sir.

Read your post and I can’t stop laughing for some reasons. We that started out when bolt have their office in lekki phase 1 knows better. I wasn’t mad at Felicity for no reason, but as someone that has been long in this hustle, the least I expect is for him to insult drivers and try to drive- shame the ones that have left. Which does mean he won’t drive one day. I have seen enough in and out. Nah situations they determine our fate in most case.

For me I’ll say it is not about what you think sometimes, but people perception. Just like Baze will say a driver can’t save up to a million in this business and they will also say drivers borrow this and that. An average Nigerian does not even think an Uber driver can eat 3 meals in a day. So why won’t they look down on one? I have completed 7000 plus rides, if not more. So it is ok to have pick issues with few riders and the first thing they attack is your hustle. If we all remember days riders will threaten to report and take away source of livelihood, because they felt one is completely useless and can’t get any other thing doing outside this. One girl don tell me say you get life nah em you come deh do Uber. I pull over and scold her that day. Someone that is still begging over the phone for a 50k job.

I have a boss that told me something this year, because he always want me to leave the shore of this country. His daughter gained admission to study out there for 2 years. And he told me you are dropping her at the airport as an undergraduate, you may be the one to go pick her as a graduate. Think about it. Jesu! Omo the alarm still deh ring in my head. As much as I have been working for him for 2 years and he is always in and out of the country at 60. He obviously know what he is telling me. We sit and chat. He still called me yesterday. On Friday we are on the phone for almost an hour. People that hangs around you see the potential in you that you can’t even see.

Good or bad is relative. Won’t say more than this. I am not ashame of the hustle. Anyone that knows me, will tell you I’m fine in my own lane. E still get some skele wey you go hide game from. It’s all about view and understanding the monkey you want to catch. I don’t know why we always do this. I have neighbors and friends I don’t even know what they do for a living or why they earn. An average Uber driver is fighting low self esteem for real.

Funny thing is, if you don't get external funds and you still rely on daily money from driving, you will still goan pick that girl as a graduate when she's done. Either una accept am or not, nobody dey grow in this hustle, you will just be a living thing... One small car issue can chop all your one month profit.

In anything you do, drive with Indriver o, Bolt o, Uber o, Rida o, Kinikan kinikan. Buy fuel at #200/ltr, 400/ltr, 500/ltr, 600/ltr...Drive from morning to night, evening to dawn......

Never forget the Golden rule.... Any amount of fuel you buy must gross you x4 of that money. Once you buy fuel of 10k, make sure you gross 40k with it. Gaskia.

Surge of Ikeja to Phase 1 is very rare, you can only see it in December or other extreme circumstances.... Now we are talking about regulate fare of 15k. Bro, nobody go enter am.

200% means Ikeja to Phase1 which was normally around 5k will now be 15k without surge, maybe my maths is rusty.

So I think it's safe to pick your trips based on km travelled and not time since your cars fuel consumption only understands distance per Ltr.

This is why it's very wise to work only on free roads.

This calculation is based on distance travelled from my place of work to my place of residence.

Distance covered: 7miles = 11.265km
ETA: 25min

According to the below site, fuel consumption for my car is:

1Ltr fuel = 10.2km

https://arawheels.com/en-auto-query/17310/How-many-kilometers-does-Honda-CR-V-2002-travel-per-one-liter-of-gasoline/

Work - Home
InDrive fare: N2600

So if 1Ltr = 10.2km, how many liters will I need to cover 11.265km

x = 11.265km / 10.2km
x = 1.104Ltr

To cover 11.265km I'll need 1.104Ltr of fuel.

So for every 1.104Ltr, 11.265km and an ETA of 25min, I should be making nothing less than N2600

So therefore
N2600 x 16Ltr = N41,600
N41,600 / N2600 = 16trips

In other to reduce number of trips then any trip above 22km but less than 23km with an ETA of 50min should be nothing less than N5200.

So with 16Ltr fuel it is possible to gross 40k and above provided you pick the right pricing for each trip.

Well analyzed, unlike that CheerfulGiver wey dey insult him families upandan to justify nonsense.... Na only him car dey use 1ltr for 7.4km on Lagos roads.

Don't be in a hurry to type nonsense.

Average city consumption for a corolla like mine, without check engine light on and no abnormal consumption is 7.4l per 100km

So using your statistics 15 liters should last for over 200km. If your car can't attain this, it's not my fault. Change mechanic.

Lekki to Ikeja is about 35km so Ikeja to lekki 5 times is 175km. Not 150km. I'll do this and still have fuel left. Stop pulling statistics out of your arse. Speak with experience. Don't follow crowd. Use your brain

So all these insults na for your uncles and aunties at home abi? Cos there was no line I ever insulted you in my comment. In my line of work, when a man is too aggressive in his defense, he's obviously lying. Koshi danu.

If you fill your tank and gross 35k plus, how much fuel did you use?

I bought fuel 15k grossed 47k and have half tank left. How much fuel did I use?

7500.

7500 fuel is 15ltrs
15ltrs on Lagos road will serve you at most 150km
That's Ikeja to Lekki 5 times...
I guess your single trip will be like 10k then.

In addition, use this strategy, inform all your guarantors and make an appointments with them on when to go see the woman. Go along with your official car, you drive HP car while someone else drives your official call. Dont take your wife along even if she's one of your guarantors she could personalize and blow off, you know she's boiling inside already. Inform your guarantors of your decisions and make them understand to respect the agreement and everybody's decision come what may.

Lastly, dont approach her with the mindset of "begging", its business so approach it professionally BUT only make an appeal for her to shift grounds on some clause highlighting to her. Then counter sign to the new agreement.

Remember official vehicles are never yours, so try make your wife see reasons y you guys need to continue with the HP with a balance that wont affect you financially. I once had a job with two official vehicles but today its no more and I'd to sell of my car due to high cost of maintenance. So be wise in your decision making.

Also, suggest to the woman to reduce the weekly remittance to maybe 20k, see how your new job is for a month then you would know if you can still be doing weekends hustle with the car instead of giving it out to somebody for rental. Mind you, the car is on HP and if your new driver recks it accidentally you've the cost to pay.

May God give you wisdom my brother

You guys are not putting the woman into consideration, have you forgotten that after four months usage on Naija roads...the car don lose value aiidy.....The matter be somehow sha.

Don't mind that one that talks like he knows all. What he fails to understand is things are going his way doesn't means those driving are beneath him, as no condition is permanent. I was an employer of at least 12 staff but situation changed.
This work should be a survival job to a next phase not to be done as a career as you will end up USELESS few years to come. They keep saying that save, save, save, but they forgot you can only save when you have extra. That is why this job is good for the young with lesser responsibilities.
I don't know what his problem is by asking people not to drive if they are not ok with Uber.

Postive mindset Positive Mindset Positive Mindset

How do you always have a positive mindset about something that is rigged to have you at the loosing end eternally?

I asked 2 questions and nobody answered me.

1) Can any driver show me a savings of 1 million made from ehailing? Emphasis on "Saved" please. I didnt say "Made and Spent". (I can't be too sure though because I can only work with the data I have after interviewing series of drivers physically)

2) Can you build a house in Idimu or Ayobo through ehailing?

Someone will soon come to remind me that civil servants too make money and spend and my answer is still; "What concerns me and a civil servant or any other work for that matter? Are your destinies same?"

If after driving for 2 years consistently and you can't have a solid savings of 1 million... What does that tell you about ehailing? Does it look like something with a future?

By the way, I can't see where I said driving is outrightly bad. I only said to find a way and get out of this thing before it harms you. Especially for those who are already seeing this thing as a life thing. I also emphasised on the fact that the people you are actually working for are Uber/Bolt, Mechanics and Fuel stations.

You know Nigerians have been so battered to the extent that they now compare sufferings. You tell a Nigerian that as a child you suffered so much that you had to trek 15 kilometres to school everyday. He will say bros you no suffer reach me. That he trekked 17 kilometres to school everyday. Technically he may be correct. But theoretically, is suffering something to be proud of and compared? If my poo poo smells better than your poo poo, does it make poo poo palatable and servable as dinner?

As you drive people everyday to hotels like Radisson Blu and Ibis, don't you ever wish that those hotels are yours? As you drive people out of Parkview Ikoyi, VGC, Banana Island, Victoria crest 1 to 4 etc to work, don't you wish you own those estates or at least live in them? Does it sound like something achievable driving with Uber/Bolt?

Please don't be depressed yet. Am still a driver for now like you.

What is My Point then?

If there can be better, why settle for good?

Medicine after death....oga you goofed with your earlier post......just forgerrit and move on. You are saying it as if the pipo doing e-hailing are jumping into it as a get rich quick scheme, that's your main problem. Pipo are just doing it to survive....it is very very difficult to get a 70k paying job in today's economy....but without a cert, e-hailing can guarantee you that. So erase yur mindset from comparing drivers to oil workers, they are just doing it to survive....the country is hard enough so keep yur negativity to yourself.

Na person wey wear shoe know where e dey pepper am for leg.
