Lekan,
this can't work!
why?
80% is not equal!
80% of oil region, that can be billions, can't be compared to the 80% of the non- oil region!
and the agitation for inequality will continue!
if my region give billion and have million in return can I satisfy?
may be you have been hearing of resources control
work out another system, this will end us in canard.
I will make a spreadsheet and you will see what I am saying. I understand most people cannot conceptualise this.
PoliticsRe: The Only Restructuring Of Nigeria That Will Be Acceptable To All Is This... by DONLEKAN: 10:36am On Jul 03, 2017
Dereformer:
I disagree. Nothing should be based on population. You want to further explode the population of Nigeria? In fact, the region with the least population should get highest percentage so that all region will strive to control births.
Whichever way you look at it. You cannot turn democracy on its head. Democracy is all about the people. I have given this a deep thought. In the end if every region can control 50% of it revenue and get exactly 25% of its contribution on the basis of percentage contribution. Indirectly you control at least 75% of your revenue. Infact of the remaining 25% you will still get something on the basis of your population. This in my opinion is the only workable solution as it will make everyone sit tight and try to contribute something to the centre.
PoliticsRe: The Only Restructuring Of Nigeria That Will Be Acceptable To All Is This... by DONLEKAN: 10:09am On Jul 03, 2017
I have a workable solution to the restructuring problem. Nigeria should be restructured into 6 regions with referendum conducted along contiguous areas to determine where they chose to belong. Like kwara, part of Kogi, part of Delta etc. Thereafter we should collapse all states within a particular region into what will be called provinces so we end up with 6 provinces. For a start, each region should keep 20% of what it generates today wholly for itself and 80 contributed to central purse. The 80 percent contributed to Federal purse. Only 20 to 30% should be kept at the federal level for things like Military, Foreign Affairs, Interior (eg prison), Judiciary, Unicameral federal legislator etc. The remaining 80% should be shared to the various regions. 50% of it should be strictly based on population while the remaining 50% should be based on percentage contribution. but here is the catch, The amount contributed by each region from regional generation should reduce every year by 1% for the next 30yrs. Such that in 30yrs time each region will keep 50% of what it generates while only 50% is contributed to the centre. Each region will still get a share of the 50% contributed to the centre after it is shared on basis of population and contribution. Again representation at the centre should be based 50% on population and 50% on financial contribution. Since nobody wants to be dominated, everyone will strive to develop economically so that they will have fair representation in the federal parliament.

It is this same Yari who embezzled 500million Naira from the Paris Club refund by using the state's money to pay personal loan. I guess Allah must have cursed his subjects by giving them a useless governor who would rather enrich himself than use state's resources for the well being of the people. The only glimmer of hope I have about the future of this country is that changes fostered on us by social media is waking people up to their responsibility.

PoliticsRe: Breaking News: Rep Seeks 20-year Jail Term For Financial Crimes by DONLEKAN: 11:15am On Apr 03, 2017
Our legislators are insane to say the least. They have not earned our trust to the extent that we saddle them with the task of salvaging the nation from the abyss of corruption they have sunk us. This new amendment is tantamount the dance of a masquerade that the gods have forsaken but hopes to put up an act good enough to be mistaken for a spirit.

Nigerians, listen to your roguish legislooters

Another key amendment seeks to remove the power of appointing the Chairman of the EFCC from the President and to be vested directly in the hands of Nigerians.

Who are the Nigerians that the power to appoint EFCC will be vested in. The supposed representatives of the people who are the thieves we would like to checkmate.

But in the new amendment, members of the public, through a petition to the National Assembly, are empowered to make the appointments.

Who are the members of the public here. Saraki and Dogara them. Or better still, they will just arrange some idiots to recommend a "do no good personality" as EFCC chairman and as long as he secures the confidence of the cabal that he will not probe anyone of them then members of the public who appointed the "do no good" EFCC chairman should be happy since Saraki and Dogara who are representative of members of the public are happy.

The proposed subsection 4 reads: “Petitions against the Chairman or any of the members of the EFCC emanating from the public or the private sector shall be submitted to the National Assembly.

Should "Mr Do no good" become ambitious and so attempt to probe one of us who would like to have immunity but the framers of the constitution are foolish not no give us immunity, we should have a way of calling the "Mr do no good" EFCC chairman to order if he attempts to do any good.

“If upon investigation and found culpable, a simple majority vote of members of the National Assembly is required in considering the fate of the chairman or any of the affected member.”

As a cult class that is up to no good. We will always find a consensus on any issue if there is threat to anyone of us.

Mr President do not sign this useless proposal they only garnished it with the 20yrs proposal. Nigerian judicial system that is equally useless and connives to do evil against Nigeria did not jail thieves when the law says a minimum of 2yrs jail term should be slammed on corrupt people. Is it now that these idiots are trying to make EFCC useless by giving 1 and taking 20 that we will take the fight to the corrupt.
PoliticsRe: Senate's Shenanigans: Buhari, Dont Be A Weak President, Act Now... by DONLEKAN: 9:49pm On Mar 29, 2017
Guys. I totally agree with you all. Buhari has to step up the game. He has been a disappointment so far with his handling of the legislative saga. From standing aloof to subsequent wahala.

My greatest sadness in all of these is that many of us put our integrity at stake to support Buhari in 2015. Should these criminals find their way to power again due to this Buhari ineffectiveness, then Nigeria is gone for good. Not in our generation will this opportunity arise to right the wrongs of our nation and Buhari is blowing it in our face.

I believe Buhari allowed June 9 2015 impasse to whittle Tinubu's power down in the party but the monster created as a result of that impasse will hunt Buhari and I fear to say Nigeria.

Annother mistake Buhari made is the reckless statement in USA that SE and SS are 5% or gave him 5%. As a supposed father of the nation, after the election, he should have embraced SE and SS at least. With his non nonchalance towards a section of the country. He inadvertently raised an army against himself. As it stands now, most people from SE and SS are not using their brains in matters of PMB. They just oppose him in all ways and support whoever is against him even if the person is a devil.

The job of reformatting Nigeria would have been easier if Buhari had embraced all irrespective of creed, religion, ethnicity or whatever. I believe it will be easier to fight the kleptomaniac minority with the full weight of the nation behind you. By so doing he would have isolated the unrepentant corrupt few and in no time he would have trashed them.

All the idiots that Buhari is listening to now where were they when we were all campaigning for Buhari in 2015.

This is not the outcome we have hoped for.
PoliticsRe: Dino Melaye's Name Missing In ABU Alumni Website by DONLEKAN: 3:49am On Mar 24, 2017
Saraki, Melaye and their co-travellers are a cult of highly connected, criminally minded individuals who are hell bent on frittering away our common patrimony by way of scams and grafts. One thing makes me happy though, the citizens are waking up to their responsibilities of standing up to challenge these rogues in power. I hope the university management is aware that one citizen has done his bit in going ahead of them to check their website for Melaye's name. We know these rogues have their way with our weak institutions including the supposedly powerful DSS.

Isn't is surprising the deafening silence from ABU on this issue while Havard and LSE have both communicated their sides of the story even though they are thousands of miles away.

This time we are is of critical importance to the future of our nation. Whether the ultra corrupt will keep their hold on our nation's wealth or a new class of leaders will emerge that will lead our nation into our much desired future.

sarrki:
It's from the small size that you cut Iroko branches, the moment it becomes big, it will be out of control!

MESU is running a parallel government in Nigeria. Unfortunately, it has branches in the bedroom of Presidency, sitting room of judiciary and corridor of some powers that be.

A man who humiliated his father, scattered the family will not hesitate to humiliate others fathers and scatter Nigeria!!!!

Take it from me, Buhari Presidency has been divided. And IBB has come again....One error is understandable, second is unacceptable!!!
I was a die hard supporter of the president during 2015 election. I did all within my power ensure Buhari was returned even though I was not based in Nigeria. I rallied all my family members to vote for Buhari, even my brother who proved stubborn, I told him he was on his own if he failed to vote Buhari, meaning he should not expect anything from me if he failed to vote Buhari. Fast forward to today, Buhari, is a big disappointment!. His failure started from the handling of the legislator leadership crisis. He failed to show leadership, in the end he left a big dent on the party which it may never recover from. Buhari is old and weak, he became the president through a coalition, he failed to trust those who supported him to that position. He brought in people who were in the shade when his coalition partners were on the field toiling to ensure his return as the president. These few ediots he so trust are undermining the nation and colluding with evil forces who have held the nation hostage since independence.

What sort of madness is this!.

Those who are evil and corrupt, they know how to bulldoze anybody who stands in the path to self aggrandisement. While these evil forces are regrouping, Buhari is somewhere believing all is well. If in 2019 he is defeated, I personally will never forgive him and history will not be kind to him. He should not come out claiming that he is a democrat by transferring power to the evil cabal hoping that everyone will respect him for that.
PoliticsRe: President Buhari To Inaugurate Committee Over N56,000 Minimum Wage demand by DONLEKAN: 7:05pm On Mar 20, 2017
If Buhari tries this, he loses my support. It is the most stupid decision. It should not be given any thought. When government is struggling to pay salary, someone wants to increase minimum wage by 200% i.e times 3. I have come to terms with the fact that the problem of Africa is in the head. For Africa to change positively, the people have to change the way they think.

We have a lot of problems in Nigeria and the earlier we realise it, the better it will be for us. The era of govt controlled utility is over.

Somebody Nigerian by now should know has very strong imprint on Nigeria is OBJ. I know Saraki will go down the moment OBJ wrote him a letter.

My theory is that OBJ belongs to a club of initiated few who decide the future of this country. He knew what the decision was before this judgement was officially passed. it's like someone that has been killed but he is still physically walking around.

This may mark the begining of another episode of real political rivalries in both the executive and the legislative arms of government that may culminate in the cessation of Apc as a political party in Nigeria.
You are thinking like the typical Nigerian mafia. If you touch one of us, we will come together to fight you. Truth is, with the way Baba kogbebe is going about his anti corruption campaign. you can't fault him. Many of those legislooters will rather align than fight the executive because they all have skeleton in their cupboard.

PoliticsRe: Fashola, NERC Meet With Discos On Tariff by DONLEKAN: 1:02pm On Nov 30, 2015
Somebody questioning why tariff increases. One thing I have come to understand about Nigeria is that we have a sense of entitlement and no sense of responsibility!!!. You don't need any Harvard MBA graduate to make you realise that the energy industry has liquidity crises. To compound problems, Nigerians don't like paying for utility but they want power 24/7. If na to go buy petrol to power their generators, they will be glad to do that knowing fully well it is a more expensive option. Penny wise, pound foolish.

Elai147:
Maybe you don't know how price manipulation occurs. It happens everywhere even in the US and the UK- so why do you think it doesn't or happen less in naija? How do you think market makers make their profit? Are they 'magas' to just come to the market and perform their primary functions and create liquidity for you and I?

You asked why manipulators allowed price to crash in the first place? If price doesn't fall how will they make profit? A case in point: a deep pocket institutional investor or mutual fund starts dumping a stock that it owns and the price begins to fall. This creates herd mentality and other investors join the race and the price continues to fall. When the deep pocket men are satisfied with the price level and that technical indicators are now displaying buy signals which investors are watching out for, they start buying aggressively. Again, herd behaviour sets in and other investors start buying and the price continues to rise. At this point the institutional investor or mutual fund start recording huge profit as price goes up. Some ogas here sometimes advise investors to sell now and buy later at a cheaper price thereby increasing or even doubling their initial units- this is exactly what the deep pocket men did and it is how manipulation can be done legally.
@Elai147. I understand your sentiment but it is not as easy as that in a free market as our NSE. It is easier to manipulate my ensuring your price does not fall as a major investor in a publicly quoted company than you have described. To ensure your price does not fall, make sure have substantial majority equity and be there to pick up the slack whenever the market sentiment is against you on the market floor. This you can do by making sure you mop your stocks if people are dumping. To manipulate in a cycle as you have suggested on the other hand is not easy particularly for a big company. If you have 700million units of first bank say. If you attempt to dump it the price will fall so sharply as it will take you time to dump that much unit. In the end you'll see that you end up selling substantial units at the lower price end. On the other hand when it is time to buy, you end up driving the price up.
