An Enugu based politician, Mr. Charles Chukwunonso Odo, has declared that God’s anger was responsible for the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He told journalists in Enugu on Wednesday that he placed a curse on the party five years ago. Odo alleged that he was defrauded by the party in Enugu State. The angry politician declared that consequently, he placed a curse on the party after a 7-day fasting, during which he poured out his heart to God in tears. According to him, “I want to declare boldly today that the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is not ordinary. I placed a curse on the party five years ago owing to a grave injustice meted out on me. “In 2011, I had joined the race for the councillorship position in Ogbodu-Aba ward, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State. “The then chairman of the PDP in Udenu Local Government, Mr. Fabian Ugwu, had encouraged us to buy forms, promising that we shall be treated fairly. I was the first person in Enugu State to purchase the form. Odo, a Catechist of the Roman Catholic Church in Nsukka, added that “it later turned out that there was no election at all; they collected my money, put it in their pocket but never held any election. “I made several efforts by appealing to the conscience of the powers that be in the party to right the wrongs done to me but they refused. So, having exhausted all avenues, I decided to take the matter to God’s court. “I went into fasting for seven days where I poured out my heart to God. I placed a curse on the PDP and prayed God to sweep the party away with crisis. I prayed Got to destroy the PDP; I am very happy today that the hour has come. Now, it is happening. “After the prayer, I resigned from active party politics because I saw PDP as a gathering of unjust people. Now, my prayer has been answered. I want to make it clear that I will not lift the curse until they come to me and apologize.” Cc: lalasticlala http://dailypost.ng/2016/08/17/cursed-pdp-five-years-ago-will-never-know-peace-enugu-politician/

Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday refused to hear two separate suits filed by a former Chairman, Appropriation Committee, House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, in relation to his travails which followed the crisis of alleged budget padding in the lower legislative chamber. Justice Abang, who is currently sitting as a vacation judge, refused to hear the suit on Wednesday because the plaintiff failed to obtain the court’s leave to have his cases heard during the ongoing vacation. A plaintiff who files a suit during the court’s vacation is expected to file an ex parte motion to prove to the judge that his or her suit is a matter of urgency which its hearing should not be delayed. On Wednesday, Dogara’s lawyer, Mr. Abdulhamid Mohammed, urged the court to hear him out on the two cases which were both listed for hearing, but the judge turned down the request on the grounds of the counsel’s failure to comply with the court’s rules. Justice Abang ruled as he declined to hear the first case, “A matter filed during court vacation is not heard as a matter of cause. “The applicant is expected to apply and obtain the leave of court to have his matter herd during the court vacation in line with the provisions of Order 46 Rule 5 of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules 2009. I so hold. “This applicant did not do so. I do not have jurisdiction to even grant an adjournment of this suit. “It is expected that the applicant will do the needful to comply with the provisions of the rules of this court.” Jubrin, through his lawyer filed the suit FHC/ABJ/CS/595/2016, against the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, his Deputy, Yusuf Lasun and other principal officers of the lower chamber seeking order to stop their alleged plan to suspend him from the House. In the other suit FHC/ABJ/CS/595/2016, which is for the enforcement of his fundamental human rights, the plaintiff sued the Police, the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command; Dogara, and other principal officers of the House as well as the Attorney-General of the Federation. Other principal officers of the House sued in the fundamental human rights enforcement suit are Lasun, Alhassan Dogura and Leo Ogor. He urged the court to stop the respondents from violating his rights in the course of investigation of the alleged budget padding. http://punchng.com/budget-padding-court-asks-jubrin-prove-urgency-suits/

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr Francis Odesanya on Wednesday denied reports that his men sealed off the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Convention in the state. The party’s National Convention billed for today at the Sharks Staduim in Port Harcourt, the state capital, was reportedly sealed-off by a team of police officers, men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and plain cloth security personnel. Reports ealier had it that the venue was sealed due to the conflicting court rulings and leadership controversies currently rocking the party. The Force Spokesman, Donald Awunah, while speaking with Channels Television had said, the primary responsibility of the police was to protect life and prevent crisis.
