Seeks international community’s help Says APC has failed to implement campaign promises By Henry Umoru ABUJA — The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday drew the attention of the international community to what it described as increasingly fascist inclination of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. The party’s assertion in a communiqué issued at the end of a Special National Conference in Abuja, yesterday, came as senior PDP chieftains mocked the ruling APC administration for not being able to implement one of its campaign promises. They also accused a serving APC governor and party chieftain of colluding to milk the treasury of N25 billion through implementation of the Treasury Single Account, TSA. PDP officials, led by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu; acting national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; PDP governors, led by Dr. Segun Mimiko; senators, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio; House of Representatives minority leader, Leo Ogor, all took turns to deride the APC administration, enumerating campaign promises they said the administration had failed to implement. They also alleged a gradual emergence of dictatorship characterised by impunity, victimisation of opposition elements and the emasculation of the judiciary. The event was the one-day national conference organised by the PDP, yesterday, in Abuja with the theme, “PDP and the Sustenance of Democratic Ideals in Nigeria,’, where the party also set March 2016 as its national convention to change its national officers. Speaking earlier, Secondus noted that the APC had failed, saying the party had yet to implement a single of all its election promises. Secondus also urged the Senate to carry out a proper investigation into the alleged payment of N25 billion as commission to a company on account of the implementation of the TSA. Senator Ekweremadu, the highest elected official in the Federal Government, while applauding the unity of the Senate as an institution in supporting the Federal Government, irrespective of partisan hues, however, said he was at the conference as a proud member of the PDP. Ekweremadu enumerated some of the campaign promises of the APC, adding that none of them had been actualised. The Deputy President of the Senate also enjoined the media and Civil Society Organizations to partner the PDP to hold the APC accountable and preserve democratic ideals. Also speaking, PDP BoT Acting Chairman, Bello Mohammed, who disagreed with those apologetic of the party’s 16 years in leadership, said there was no reason for PDP to apologise to Nigerians because the party had been vindicated, having laid the foundation, adding that the APC had failed in its promises to Nigerians. Also in his remarks, Governor Mimiko of Ondo State who spoke for present and former PDP governors, urged President Buhari to be fair to all Nigerians, irrespective of party affiliation by conducting free and fair elections in Bayelsa and Kogi states as well as release the bailout funds for Kogi State. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/nigeria-sliding-into-dictatorship-pdp-raises-alarm/

lalasticlala, i can't stop laughing o. By Gift Nwankpa PORT HARCOURT—There was pandemonium, yesterday, at the Rivers State Secretariat following the mysterious appearance of a rabbit. It was discovered beneath a car belonging to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Otonyetarie Okoye. Fear sent some civil servants home before closing hours. One of the civil servants told Vanguard: “Some persons later summoned courage and went after it. Even policemen also joined in pursuit. It was later killed. “Rabbits are normally found in the bush and not in the office. That rabbit is a witch. “It neither looked like the type we used to pursue in the bush as children not the English rabbit.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/rabbit-causes-pandemonium-at-rivers-secretariat/ |

*Nigeria Police won’t cover any officer’s crime—COMMISSIONER By Esther Onyegbula & Faith Ake OFFICERS of Edo State Police Command are investigating a sergeant, Umoru Babalola, who allegedly raped a nine-old-girl (names withheld). It was learned that Edo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, ordered the arrest of the sergeant, following a report from the girl’s mother that the policeman, who was her neighbour, allegedly lured her daughter, a primary four pupil, and raped her in his apartment. She said: “I came home and was told that Sergeant Umoru sent my daughter to buy him recharge card. “I waited for her to come back, but she did not. I decided to look for her in his apartment. I knocked but nobody answered. I asked after him from his son and he said his father was inside. “I peeped through the window and I saw him naked with my daughter crying. “I started shouting and banging on the door. Other neighbours came out and we forced him to open the door. I took my daughter to the hospital where it was confirmed she was raped. Umoru had threatened to kill her if she told anybody. “I reported to the police and another test was conducted in a specialist hospital, where it was also confirmed that my daughter was raped.” Confirming the report, Edo State Police Commissioner Chris Ezike, said: “The case is being handled at the Family Unit. I have ordered that a test be conducted on the girl and we are waiting for the result. “The command and Nigeria Police will not cover any crime among its officers and men. If it is true, he will face orderly room trial, dismissed and charged to court.” Cc: lalasticlala http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/11/sergeant-allegedly-rapes-neighbours-9-yr-old-daughter/
