I pity your folly, you know nothing about running a business. Can government shutdown for a day without having a negative effect? The same applies to business, go and learn business 101 and thank me later.

It's barbaric because you're closing and crippling someone's means of livelihood all in the name of culture that should have been discarded long ago, don't forget people eat out of what they sell daily.
macof: They close the market because Oba ti waja what is so barbaric in that?

Can't we respect and honour the monarch

Pray in hospital wont work, because by then they would have used the money to offset the bills, whereas if it in the vicinity of the church they're guarantee of the money going into the wallet of 'God'. Too much of brainwashing is a disease on it's own.
He's right and I think the state, especially Lagos should start arresting pastors who hold sick patients in their churches under the disguise that they can heal them. Send them to hospital for treatment and you can either go and pray for them there or pray for them at the church. Using people even to their deaths for financial gain is so wrong and criminal
GOAT
Yoruba: Ewure
Igbo: Ewu

Most times too, some of this similarity could bring about different meanings and interpretations.

Check this: An Egbira boy took his friend, a Yoruba boy to his home and wanted to introduce him to his father and was shouting Ota mi de, Ada mi da. The word ‘Ota’ in Egbira language means friend whereas in Yoruba, the same word means enemy. By the same token, the word ‘Ada’ in Egbira means father, whereas in Yoruba the same word means cutlass or sword. Of course, the word ‘Mi’ in Egbira and Yoruba simply means mine, and the word ‘De’, ‘has arrived’ means exactly the same thing in both Yoruba and Egbira. Therefore, ‘Ota mi de, Ada mi da’ in Egbira simply means ‘My friend has arrived, where is my father’ (to help me welcome him). In Yoruba, the same statement means, ‘My enemy is here, get me my cutlass’. shocked

If I was that friend in question, on hearing the word sword, I'll do Usain Bolt sharpaly. smiley

Pathetic I must say, my friend almost lost his wife to the carelessness of his pastor's wife when they were told not to go to hospital when she wanted to give birth and it was glaring she wouldn't be able to push on her own. They resorted to prayer instead of rushing her to the hospital, unfortunately by the time they took her to the hospital it was definitely late because the baby's head has started coming out and the baby died but God saved the mother by a whisker because they performed minor operation on her.

ibitomisi: Very Right; God himself supports drugs... That reminds me of an incident that happened years back. They held this dying mother-to-be, and didn't allow her to get attended to at the hospital, all in the name of 'hiding' him in a church... But to my greatest surprise when her condition got worsen, they had no choice than to tend to what they rejected... unfortunately, they lost the baby; Thank God for the mother. The whole family learnt their lesson in a bittter way, I must say.

Ali Baba

Lagos- Apparently this is not the first time Alibaba who is known for sharing his opinion on issues is taking on some pastors.

It was reported earlier this year, that the top comedian sent thought provoking messages to pastors, churches and billionaires.

Well this time, he took to twitter to share his opinion on pastors who refer their church members to the prayer department rather than advise them to go to the hospital and seek medical attention.

SOME PASTORS WILL BE DIRECTING THEIR CONGREGATION TO PRAYER DEPARTMENT WHEN WHAT THEY SHLD HAVE DONE IS TELL THEM TO GO SEE A DOCTOR ASAP

— Akpobome (@ALIBABAGCFR) July 3, 2014

HOW CAN YOU BE OFFERING MEMBERS PRAYERS FOR HEALTH ISSUES, YET TAKE THEIR OFFERING TO GO SEEK MEDICAL HELP FROM QUALIFIED DOCTORS OVERSEAS?

And he's not the first I'm saying that about.
Just my candid opinion.

Well, it wont be a bad thing if you can do all that! But you can do more I meant is for you not to criticize the kind of music he does or his personality, because we all know the reason most people hate him is because he severed his working relationship with Don Jazzy and not necessary the music he does.

Why don't I wear a d'banj tshirt and run around the country.
Or maybe start an online support d'banj petition
Because I don't have a life. grin

Cut him some slack, do you think in all your wildest imagination that music is all about good lyrics? If that is the case, do you know the lyrics to Awilo or Koffi Olomide's Makossa?

But for your info, Nigerians danced to makossa as if their lives depended on it years back.
cococandy: This is very nice.
I always thought he'd do better at something else apart from music.
Business could be his real life calling.
And meeting the richest people in the world can help him set of on the right foot if any of them would be willing to invest in his business.
That would be awesome

All that noise he calls music ain't it at all.but then he pro'lly was using it as stepping stone to bigger things and getting popularity for his brand name when he does begin full scale productions

I wish him success in this new part of his life

The Olu of Ikeja Kingdom, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Oba Rauf Adeniyi Aremu Matemi, is dead. He was said to have died in his palace Tuesday after a brief illness.

All businesses and shops at Ikeja local government were closed down for business as a mark of honour for the departed monarch.

However, commercial vehicles and tricycles (Keke Napep) operators were seen going about with their businesses.

When P.M.NEWS visited the palace Wednesday morning, traditional rulers, Iyaloja, Baales, members of the Hausa community were there to mourn the monarch.

Some rituals were also being performed in his honour at the palace. Some traditional chiefs were seen wearing white wrappers as well.

When our correspondent tried to know the cause of his death, one of his chiefs who did not disclose his name, said media cannot be entertained as at the time of filing this report, adding that there are some rituals that needed to be carried out first.

“We can’t talk to the media now. There are some rituals that needed to be performed when an Oba dies and that is more important than what you came for.

“See, we don’t announce the death of a king on the pages of newspapers. By 3:00 p.m. your paper would have been out while we are yet to properly inform some Obas (monarchs) of his demise,” he said.
