This is how developed societies are run.

If the needs of the citizens are met, who would have time engaging in violence?

I mean have they put in place, the socalled friendly business environment in Ekiti state? Obviously no! They just want more tax money to play with... They will now finish off the paltry finances of long suffering workers through that nonsense PAYE,, just to make enough money for all sorts of hedonistic owambe parties...

Since the government of the South East states have refused to protest the rising high cost of power in the East compared to other zones especially the North, folks should be allowed to do the needful in order to survive...

We had some respite during the second republic with the likes of Dee Mbakwe and co but Buhari couldn't stand it and immediately came up with a coup to destabilize the enermous progress made by these leaders in the East. Buhari said he organized that coup to fight corruption, problem was that he came into government with some of the worst corrupt characters in Nigerias history.


The Abachas came into governance as a result of buharis coup. Ditto the Babangidas, the Usenihs and all of these corrupt Army officers who were scattered across different southern States as emergency governors with matching orders to plunder and to maim. As the new democratic dispensation come along, Obasanjo started this practice of foisting dubious characters in government houses in the East. He foisted Ohakim the scammer at Owerri. We chased that one out. He destroyed Mbadinujus government in Anambra because he wanted the Uba brothers at Awka government house! Anambra people resisted that and now Buhari wants to use the Uzodinmgba he elevated to the position of a governor at Imo state to impose another tout as the governor of Anambra state.

People should know that this is not a coincidence! This is a well choreographed plan to stunt the development of the South East by making crooks our leaders.
This way, monthly allocations to these states will be shared to northern and south western contractors while easterners suffer..

When they mention taxes, you people mention markets complexes, do you think market complexes is what gives states the high revenues?

Do you know that what one single company pay in taxes is bigger than what the whole market in Aba might pay? Let’s take Dangote refinery for example, when that refinery gets completed, the taxes it will pay to Lagos alone will dwarf a lot of other paid from most markets across Lagos and etc.

You can’t base a state glory on buying and selling markets alone (especially things you don’t produce yourself), you need industries, companies, attract businesses that will employ people which will inturn increase prosperity for your people.

Mind you most state cannot tax market efficiently and not only in Abia. In Nigeria, the northern states are even the actual states that don’t tax their non formal sector and not SE. If we are to apply dotian argument, then we will say the reason why the North have such low figure is that they don’t tax their citizens so they might actually be the richest states in Nigeria.

Problem with you is that in matters like this, especially when the South East is involved, you always start off from the pettiest of angles. Crude hate starts to blind you.. Base vituperations all over.. Your last paragraph is a mangled piece of nonsense full of rampaging ignorance. I gave you two basic examples of commercially viable eastern cities in Onitsha and Aba, an that was intentional because those two cities are conomically active and can quite easily jack up their revenue base by juggling their tax policies. Don't take my words for it, contact the CBN for stats on daily financial transactions in these places..

You are now coming to use all northern States as examples? Apart from Kano and Kaduna, can you point to any core northern town that is so flamboyantly active in commerce as is Aba and Onitsha? Why compare apples and oranges? What actually is your sterile point? That Aba is no more Aba or that Onitsha is the same as Ogbomosho? I know these area very well and like a certain poster here said, governments are not emphatic in terms of tax collection because of the fact that basic infastructure in these areas have collapsed. An industrialist sells his land to start an industry, paves the road to his factory, uses his own power generating sets and provides his water. Only for a grumpy, fat revenue collector to appear at the gate for his monthly tax? For what?

I think your problem here is cultural! Sorry to say this but it's obvious! You just can't wrap your tribal head around the fact that a government cant forces businesses to pay taxes because of the fear of revolt or because the government knows how much the businesses put in to develop these towns.. Go to Onitsha as we speak and count the number of 5 storey buildings being constructed by these "traders" you whimsically villify here. . They're ploughing back their cash to build houses. , provide water for these houses and help with local security and all that. If they are so socially responsible to the extent of doing government duties, why your desperation to shake them down by hobbling their business with greater taxes?

Or is it Because as a loyal serf, you pay to your oppressors in your own land without questions?
