I have a relative whose surname is wrongly spelt on NIMC slip.
The centre has not issued the slip that contains NIN info. When she called their attention to the error ,they told him they will correct it later.
I just want to confirm is it possible for the NIMC staff to correct the name since they have not issued the one that contains NIN or she should start the process again in another centre without telling them.
Please I need your candid advice.

Going to another centre is tantamount to double registration. As your data is taken, it goes to a central server. When they issue the NIN slip, your relative will apply for change of data or what do they call it? It requires getting a court affidavit and then the process of correcting the mistake will take place.

This is captured in the constitution. I am sure that as someone who taught and practised law, VP Osinbajo knows his place. It is so in United States from where we borrowed the system.

Oddly, the tenant’s side of the story makes more sense.

It would make sense to you until you become a property owner. Then the fact that you were agreeable to this kind of behaviour will make you paranoid towards people who want to make use of your property.

If a tenancy agreement was signed, forbidding the use of the property for business or subletting....then madam landlady has a case.

If an agreement was signed allowing for the use of the property as a hotel, then the tenant has a case.

But note, the fact that the landlady is crying about it...means most likely a tenancy agreement forbidding the use of the proeprty for anything other than a residence was signed. If it was the other way round...then the case would be different.

Guys, read and comprehend what transpired before making comments that have no basis. When a landlady has an agent handling her property, it is the agent that signs agreement on the landlady's behalf except the landlady wants to do that aspect by herself. In this case, the agent connived with the tenant to shortchange the landlady.
It is because of the corrupt and evil tendencies of Nigerians that has made an otherwise normal business relationship to be complicated. Afterwards, you will be crying out that there are no opportunities in Nigeria. That is the same way a fellow trusted someone to manage his business and the manager took most of his clients away. People think that they are smart because they have fulfilled legal requirements. They don't know that the evil they are doing will cause a lot of damage if not to themselves, but to many others who did not partake in it.

Rumour has it that it is because NIMC is very busy handing out IF card to Northerners and Hausas from Niger Republic. They then use the national ID card to get voters card which will be vital for elections.

Same thing happens with passport. In the south there is never any paper and people wait for months to get passport. But in Sokoto passport is printed out in 4-5 hours.

The bolded has to do with volume of traffic. The number of people in the south that are holders of international passport are more in number than those in the north. You should go to the passport offices in the North yourself and see the number of people who come daily for passport. You will rarely see people queueing outside.

Using detergents like Omo and Klin which is a common practice in Nigeria etches most paint jobs faster.

This is one of the main reasons for destroyed paint jobs in Nigeria.

We are fist bundled with inferior and low quality paints, obviously imported from China, then we speed up the process with cloth detergent.

I have learnt to use genuine car washing soaps or ordinary water. A car is not a plate and ordinary water can remove most stains.

That was how the house help of a fellow destroyed the paint of his using klin. I was aghast when I saw the grain of the the detergent all over the car. That was the beginning of the end for the car.

Very true Siena. I painted my landrover and frankly,I wasn't impressed and knew it was a poor job even before I picked up the car. I have been looking around for a company that will do a better job.
A friend of mine found an elderly gentleman who has a paint booth with all the right equipment. My friends 2002 Toyota corola was painted with N120k and it was done to factory quality.
What I noticed is that the paint is one of the issues as most of them use some cheap generic paint for.all brands and all auto body whether made from steel, aluminum or fiber. Also most Nigerians want cheap things. If done right, a paint job should not devalue the car

I had a similar experience. I was scared of repainting my car because of the after effects I have seen from repainted cars. However, on the recommendation of another person who had his car repainted I patronised someone who did the job for me three years ago. It is still as good as when I bought it except for scratches due to other vehicles and the like.

Meanwhile, I painted the minivan for N70k up North. A couple of my friends have done similar paint jobs elsewhere and right of the bat you know something is wrong. Some few months after painting and it is obvious that cheap paint was used. I have seen a minivan put up for sale and from a mile away I knew it was recently painted and I was put off.

When people who don't know you and can tell that your car has recently been painted, alarm bells go off. This is usually known when the is dull or shining more than normal.

It is very possible that it is the cleanest airport. However, how many people use the airport? It would have been impressive if it had been one of the busiest airports in Nigeria.

Not even two Will Smiths was enough to convince audiences that Gemini Man was worth going to see.

Ang Lee's ambitious sci-fi film is projected to have a loss of $75 million or more after struggling at the box office, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The latest blow to Gemini Man was its failure to land big in China, where it could only debut with $21 million and lost out to fellow new opener, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

But did it flop because it's not very good? Not quite.

Sure, it doesn't help that the sci-fi isn't great. After some positive first reactions that praised the "breathtaking" special effects, the overall reviews weren't anywhere near as kind and saw Ang Lee record his worst-ever Rotten Tomatoes score with 25%.

It's hard for a movie to prosper at the box office without good word of mouth, especially when it's an original concept not linked to any existing franchise.

However, quality isn't everything. Just ask Venom, which only did marginally better with the critics (29%), but grossed $856 million worldwide and will soon be getting a sequel. Something that almost definitely won't happen with Gemini Man.

What certainly hasn't helped Gemini Man is that Joker continues to be both a huge success and a constant talking point since its release on October 4.

Any movie (outside of Marvel or Disney) would struggle to make an impact in the face of Joker, let alone one that didn't have positive reviews and didn't have an existing fanbase.

But what about Will Smith, we hear you ask?

Sorry to say it, but he just isn't the draw he used to be. Aladdin might have become his biggest movie ever earlier this summer, but it's hard to say exactly how much of that was down to his casting.

Arguably, the success of Aladdin was down to the fact it was a remake of a Disney classic, and the casting of Smith as the Genie – as good as he was in the tricky role – was a part of its success, but not the key one.

A lot was made pre-release of Ang Lee choosing to film Gemini Man in a high frame rate of 120 fps, a technically advanced method of shooting that Lee previously used on Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk and Peter Jackson used on The Hobbit (albeit at a lower frame rate of 48 fps).

The problem is that outside of the industry, it's unlikely to draw a general audience to see a movie, especially when very few cinemas worldwide are set up to screen the higher frame rate.

Really, the only thing that could have drawn people to see Gemini Man on the big screen was the de-ageing technology used to 'clone' Will Smith. So it's a shame that the CGI in the movie is mixed at best, with the high frame rate only subtracting from the effects (when you can see them, that is, given most of the action takes place in dark locations).

Gemini Man's failure at the box office is really just a perfect storm of indifference towards the movie itself, combined with the killer blow that it was released against the most-talked-about movie of the year in Joker.

Perhaps Ang Lee should have paid more attention to the fact that it's been in development hell since 1997...

Price is determine by market force and in the case of reapers that want to make excessive profit, competitors is what will break them with tax reduction for user-friendly company not a military style price decree

If Ghana has half of Nigeria's resources and just a quarter of our problems there economy will collapse. One of their presidents made this kind of remark in recent times and it shows a lack of appreciation of the overall issues countries in Africa face. John Kuffor had to publicly recognise Nigeria's help during their energy crises when they could not purchase oil without a 90 day credit facility which Obasanjo gave to them and allowed them to pay at their convenience. Lebanon scraps WhatsApp tax as protests rage

Protests raged for a second day in Lebanon despite the government backtracking on plans to tax WhatsApp calls.

The government had announced a $0.20 (£0.16) daily charge on voice calls made through WhatsApp and other apps.

But it scrapped the plans hours later amid clashes between security forces and protesters.

Thousands have protested, calling on the government to step down over its handling of an economic crisis.

Dozens were reported injured on Thursday as protesters burned tyres and security forces fired tear gas. The demonstrations were the biggest seen in Lebanon for years.

Why are people protesting in Lebanon?
Thousands of Lebanese people have taken to the streets amid an economic crisis that many blame on the government.

"I was sitting at home and I saw the people on the move and so I came out," Cezar Shaaya, an accountant protesting in Beirut, told Reuters news agency. "I am married, I have mortgage payments due every month and I am not working. It's the state's fault."

Chants of "the people want to topple the regime" echoed around Beirut's Riad al-Solh square on Thursday. Many also expressed anger over perceived inaction by authorities to tackle the country's worst wildfires in decades.

What about the WhatsApp tax?
On Thursday, the government announced a new daily tax for calls made via voice-over-internet-protocol (Voip), which is used by apps including WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Apple's FaceTime.

The government backtracked hours later, but the protests continued.

"We are not here over the WhatsApp, we are here over everything: over fuel, food, bread, over everything," said Abdullah, a protester in Beirut.

The prime minister was expected to deliver a speech on the crisis later on Friday.

Not winning a particular award doesn't mean such actor is bad... Not everyone gets to win everything and that doesn't mean you are not a good actor.

I was wondering why he thought belonging to those sites is a marking scheme for movies. Everyone has their own standards and we need to respect that. DiCaprio was awarded an Oscar for The Revenant after his years of exceptional work. Denzel even said that he does not bother to vote for the Oscars that it is his wife that does the voting.

Will Smith is a great actor. Just as any other great artist he will retire and his work will speak for him, not the Oscar's or the faceless critics on those forums.

I opened the post and I was also wondering how people are hyping Ambode. Just four months after his departure all the roads have gone bad. Xenophobia: Presidents Paul Kagame, Felix Tshisekedi and Peter Mutharika withdraw from World Economic Forum holding in South Africa


The World Economic Forum (WEF) scheduled to begin in South Africa from Wednesday September 4, will go on without the President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, President of DR Congo Felix Tshisekedi and the President of Malawi Peter Mutharika as they've all withdrawn from the event.



The African leaders withdrew from the three-day event holding in Capetown after the xenophobic attacks launched by South Africans against foreigners especially Nigerians.



Zimbabwean media personality, Josey Mahachie also confirmed that the Zambian National team cancelled its friendly match with South Africa, citing security concerns.

This is your opinion. I've been following John Wick from the very first installment and I've come to understand that the reality which the movie is centered in is fantastical. JW is killing machine, sorrounded by myths which are in actuality, understated truths, as the Russian boss pointed out at the beginning of Chapter 2. What you pointed out is not an improbable reaction because Wick is a legend who has adoring fans. The fighters paused each time they had a kill chance because they are star struck fans who feel honoured to fight 'The Boogeyman'. Killing him was not their order, but weakening him so that their boss would move in and finish him off. The boss had earlier told him at the hotel that "John Wick will die by my sword and no one else's'', so the minions' main objective was to fight and bring him to his knees, not kill him. Wick knew this, which is why when he leveled them, he saluted them and left.

This third Chapter is super!

What @Zoharariel couldn't factor in is the implications of the legendary status of John Wick and also the number people who are either indebted to him or see him as a worthy ally. These are alliances he cultivated as he built his pedigree. Right from the first installment, there has been many instances JW could have died. FACEBOOK PUTS ITS STAMP—AND NAME—ON INSTAGRAM AND WHATSAPP


Facebook bought Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014. But even today, many users of those apps don’t realize they are part of Mark Zuckerberg's empire. Facebook went to great lengths to allow them to operate as independent brands. There are many "I hate Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook. I'm going to Instagram" posts on social media.

The companies had their own CEOs, their own apps and websites, their own office buildings and email addresses. Facebook even allowed WhatsApp employees to have nicer desks and fancier bathrooms.

Friday, Facebook confirmed that the independent era is over. It has told employees that Facebook's ownership of both apps will become clearer. Instagram's app says "Instagram from Facebook" at the bottom of the login page and the settings page. “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook,” said spokeswoman Bertie Thomson. The change was earlier reported by The Information.

The timing of the news, like many things associated with Facebook recently, seemed simultaneously logical and bone-headed.

Zuckerberg has taken steps in the past year to suggest Facebook intended to make WhatsApp and Instagram less independent. He pushed out both companies’ founders and installed Facebook executives. Earlier this year, he said that he would merge their messaging platforms into an encrypted version of Facebook Messenger. In that context, taking the step of making it clearer that Instagram and WhatsApp are part of Facebook makes sense.

Also, much as WhatsApp and Instagram employees and users might not like it, merging the three brands also allows Zuckerberg to say that he’s doing what the world is asking of him. For three years, critics have hammed him for not having better operational control over his empire. Now, he’s asserting control.

What makes the move seem ill-considered is that just last week Facebook confirmed that both the Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission are investigating the company for possible antitrust violations. Among the items the agencies are considering: Whether Facebook's purchases of WhatsApp and Instagram were anti-competitive, because they snuffed out potential rivals. It's hard to avoid wondering if Facebook's rebranding exercise isn't some ham-handed effort at convincing government lawyers that three apps are already fused.

Twenty years ago, Microsoft tried to make a similar argument about its Windows operating system and its Internet Explorer browser. The government said Microsoft had illegally tied Explorer to Windows as a way of crushing browser competitor Netscape. Microsoft won the argument on appeal. But it was a grueling four-year fight that hindered Microsoft's ability to innovate for the next decade.

We know that Zuckerberg and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates are friends. You'd think Gates would be advising him not to make this mistake again.
