overhypedsteve: listen youngman. I do not support Wale112 but why the hello do you think cars cannot be manufactured in nigeria or Ghana or any African country. We have ajaokuta steel , which ranks among one of the largest in Africa. We ve it right here in west Africa, so what re you saying. Even western countries manufacturing cars. Also rely on third party parts. It could be glass, tailoring, engine ( abi you ve not heard of plains that do not have the flag company engine?, ) Africa can do it, ghanians can do it( if they bring out wale112 and inject him with ebola) we can make cars and plains if we will.Brother don't decieve yourself. I am a Mechanical Engineer and I know my way around Car parts and material selection. Nigeria and Ghana cannot and havenot produced an Engine block. Its that simple. Your Ajaokuta steel plant is DEAD and cannot be revived again except there is a total overhaul of the entire plant. Don't let these politicians keep decieving u. |
iamord: I don't know about the others.. But the like of kantanka engine is made from scratch , in the country.. That one am certain ofFor this Ghanianas who dont know the difference between Manufacturing and ASSEMBLYING read this; Kantanka Automobile Company Limited, producers of Kantanka vehicles has announced producing in commercial quantities for the Ghanaian market in fourth quarter of 2014 after the successful installation of its assembling plants at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region. The facility expected to be commissioned during the said time will have about one hundred and fifty vehicles made up of pick-ups and sports utility vehicles (SUVs) unveiled to the general public. “After years of hard work researching to make this dream come true, we can confidently announce to you today that we are ready to produce in commercial quantities,” CEO of Kantanka Automobile Company Limited, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo declared. According to him, test runs of the facility have also been successfully completely, paving the way for the grand launch of the facility to the general public. The plant, comparable to any automobile assembling facility in the world, assembles imported vehicle parts from China and other parts of the world, including locally manufactured ones. It has the capacity to produce eight vehicles a day and could further be expanded to produce twelve or more depending on market demand. The government is expected to buy majority of the vehicles produced by the company as the demand to resource state institutions keeps growing. The purchase would further indicate the government’s commitment to promoting locally manufactured products. Phase two of the project which entails the rolling out of saloon cars is projected to take place by end of 2015, according to the Operations Manager, Kojo Kudzordzi, who conducted journalists round the facility. Apostle Dr. Safo, commenting further said the facility represents the intelligence of the Blackman. “So manyeople think that the Blackman is not intelligent to manufacture things but that is not true. We can also make it if only we persevere,” he noted. He appealed to the general public to support him as he seeks to make the country the hub of automobile in the West African sub region. “Help me to manufacture and our country will be a better place to live,” he added. President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Rev. Ing. Eric Ankrah, commenting on the plant said the institution was in support of the facility and would help transform it by accrediting it as a Center of Excellence for Competence Based Approach to assist in training the youth for the job market. “This is the policy of the government,” he noted. http://www.myjoyonline.com/business/2014/june-12th/kantanka-vehicles-ready-for-the-market.php |
iamord: I don't know about the others.. But the like of kantanka engine is made from scratch , in the country.. That one am certain ofDo you know what it entails to manufacture a car from scratch? Do you know about manufacturing different components for a single car? At what plant is he manufacturing them? Where are the steel companies that supply raw materials to the plants in Ghana. You guys shouldn't take us for fools tho. Its just fake news from these chaleys!!! |
you guys are funny tho. Countries that even produce an Engine block for a car engine, you guys are talking of manufacturing a Car. All these cars (Innoson, Pan, Kantankarous, Nissan) are all assembled in Nigeria/ ghana (just like we assemble Keke napeps) and not manufactured. Stop decieving people please. |
Its a fact. PDP rule in IMO fro 12years was just a waste... Just waiting for PDP to choose its candidate and for ORO to shred that criminal to pieces. |
IMO state deserves Ohakim... Yes since una no like better thing. OHAKIM is from Okigwe zone and he ruled for four years... Where were all the people in Arondiizuogu? Why didn't they complain then? He did nothing for them and u guys are crying? Okigwe zone will continue to remain the most backward area in IMO. |
meforyou1: owrri is just one town among tens of towns in imo stste. When PDP ruled for 12 years what did they do? Ohakim is from Okigwe zone... He should have developed those areas including your arondizuogu but what did he do He embezzled the funds and left Okigwe zone worse than how he met it. Rochas has done well. He cannot develop everywhere at the same time. Remember its just 3 years compared to 12 years of pdp misrule.IMos did not start in 2011. |
vanbonattel: I bu ijiott! You call them small? I see. ... How many 'small" roads did Ohakim and Udenwa construct to free up the traffic ain Owerri? Show me one road the pdp contructed in Owerri in 12years. Or did those traffic gridlock just started under Rochas? Scenrio 1. I am driving in from PH, instead of going thru Assumpta road, I now have a choice... I would drive thru new owerri and pick any of the newly constructed roads and connect directly thru Douglas and town. Scenrio 2. If I m driving in from Aba, once I get to nekede junx, I would take a detour into the new bypass unto wetheral. Leaving the gridlock at Douglas road junction. Scenrio 3. Coming in from Onitsha. I would go thru egbeada estate or the new road at AICE owerri unto amakohia road and down towards any part of owerri. Did u have this options during your 'Performing pdp tenure in IMO. Liars and thieves can never rule IMO again. |
The Truth will only set you free. ROADS WITHIN OWERRI 1. expanded Roundabout at Warehouse junction? 2.The new Road linking Assumpta cathedral road to Akanchawa estate 3.The new road linking Warehouse Junction via Umezurike Hospital road to Douglas road. 4.Three mini bridges connection Old owerri to New Owerri. 5.Three new roads connecting Old and new Owerri? 6.Dualization of the Douglas to nekede Junction? 7.Construction of the new bypass from wetheral to Nekede junction. Let me just shame all these Fat faced liars once and for all. |
vanbonattel: I nearly believe Abagworo online pictures til I travelled home, Owerri is just paint work along the road. No projects ongoing for the state except the overhiped international conference centre for who?Shebi I talk am. All this mumu posters no dey stay IMO. You guys just come back spend two 2days and make up cock and bull stories. As u blind reach u no see the 1. expanded Roundabout at Warehouse junction? 2.The new Road linking Assumpta cathedral road to Akanchawa estate 3.The new road linking Warehouse Junction via Umezurike Hospital road to Douglas road. 4.Three mini bridges connection Old owerri to New Owerri. 5.Three new roads connecting Old and new Owerri? 6.Dualization of the Douglas to nekede Junction? 7.Construction of the new bypass from wetheral to Nekede junction. Let me just shame all these Fat faced liars once and for all. |
I have been reading with dismay the way people attack Owelle Rochas Okorocha's government in IMO and I must say that it is rather funny, maybe our people are suffering from memory loss or that all these online warriors have never lived in IMO before. I just want to settle this matter once and for all by comparing and contrasting the development recorded under 12 YEARS of Slavery under pdp or 3years of the Rescue mission. I DARE anybody to post pictures or comments of pdp's transformation of IMO and why they need to be voted in in the next election in IMO state. And I will gladly do the same. Let's keep this as clean as possible( I am not scared to insult ur bloodline tho) PS: its a fact that elections are not won on the internet but out on the streets. |
vanbonattel: Owerri don rotten under RochasYou are just been mischeviouse. Posting pictures of on bad spot on Okigwe park road... You see why pdp in IMO state re a bunch off never do well... A gang of vagabonds and urchins... Please can u in ur infinite wisdom post pictures of all Ohakim and Udenwa's projects in IMO state for 12years? Let's see who the true looters are. |
This OP is a donkey. I was there at the venue and Jonathan never issued any statement to that effect. Viola Onwuliri is from mbaise and like every other politician from pdp is out to castigate and issult Rochas. As for actually winning an election we all know that pdp is just wasting their time and energy? Hoping to field common criminals like Ihedioha, Ohakim or arrarume. |
The news is as credible as I could ever be. The source is genuine but anonymous. You should expect to see this on every tabloids in the country because it was a private matter. And for all this jobless yoruba imps... The first ladies of Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, rivers and the 5 SE states are ll igbo. And they are classy ladies.... Definitely not like Aregbe rascal's wife. |
Some women are just petty. |
It is very funny how women can carry a grudge and incubate it for a lonnnnggg time only to throw pebbles at each other in far away Poland! I don't get it...even if there are issues...at least respect the 1st Lady(Dame Peshe) who had you on her entourage to Poland. I read this report somewhere and my jaw dropped! If this really happened then it is a big pity! Trouble started when on arrival with the First Lady, who was accompanied by Uche Ekwunife, Bola Shagaya and others, Ebele Obiano who was among those at the airport to receive the First Lady greeted every other person except Uche Ekwunife. Later in the day, when Ebere Obiano came to see the First Lady, according to source with the First Lady, she again greeted everybody except Uche Ekwunife. Those who had noticed the trend asked her why the childishness, pointing at Uche, she said " I do not greet prostitute," to the astonishment of all those around. Uche Ekwunife did not talk, according to our source, until Ebele Obiano told her that she will deal with her and make sure she crumbles all her businesses in Awka. Enraged, Uche said i would not bandy words with you. "That you killed your husband's first wife for him to marry you does not mean you can deal with other women [Ebere Obiano use to be the secretary to Obiano until he lost the wife and married her]; that you are dealing with your alcoholic husband does not mean you can deal with me," Ekwunife said to Ebele Obiano. Confused, Ebele Obiano said " my husband drinks champagne not alcohol," providing comic relief that set everybody laughing. About to go physical, the First Lady now intervened joined by other women. They lambasted Wille's wife for lack of manners and morals. "Instead of you to go to Margaret Obi to teach you how to be a First Lady, I heard you no longer talk to her. This your behaviour today has confirmed all that is said about you and your husband. Please if this is how you behave, never join me on any trip again, both within and outside the country.," the annoyed First Lady said. Ify Onyegbule. Culled from Facebook. |
OdenigboAroli: You do be shocked when you get to Onitsha....lolOga which part of Onitsha are u talking about? Is it WOLIWO FEGGE UPPER IWEKA OCHANJA Or Mgbuka Obosi? These areas are presumably. The worst areas in Nigeria. Please tell me something I don't know. |
9jacrip: LMAO!And what planes would your Gowon have used to 'carpet' bomb biafra? The same plane that Egypt and Russia gve for free? The same planes that foreign pilots flew nd cudnt distinguish between cicilian and miltary formations? The same country that coudnt manufacture their own weaponry? The same country that had to run hand in cap to its allies for arms and ammunitions? The truth is man for man, weapons for weapons. Nigeria coudnt defeat the biafrans!!!! The west saw this and that why they backed the northerners to fight against the biafrans. So stop spewing nonesense u heard from your callous forebears. Bloody cowards and charlatans. |
Onitsha is the dirtiest city in Nigeri. Nobody is doubting that... I hope to post some pictures when next I am going thru thaat area. Still waiting for your pictures on Owerri tho. |
The story of how Geometric Power has been prevented from lighting up Aba contains the usual suspects of vested interests, crony capitalists, an inept bureaucracy putting up barriers to doing business, graft, incompetence and murky dealings that can be traced to the very top of Nigeria’s political class. The successful plot to stop Geometric has been enabled by a hapless president, a vice president captured by vested interests, a defanged Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), a National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) where conflicting interests have led to deceit, and a private sector entity – Interstate Electrics, owners of Enugu Disco – whose intent is essentially to kill Geometric. It is a tale with few heroes but lots of villains, who have conspired to keep Eastern Nigeria’s industrial hub of Aba, a city of 2 million people, perpetually in the dark. Knowledgeable sources say the operation of a 140-megawatts power plant primed to deliver power to Aba, a shoe and garment hub of Africa, is being frustrated by PDP kingpin Emeka Offor, the chairman of Chrome Group and promoter of Interstate Electrics Limited, who is also a close personal friend of Namadi Sambo, Nigeria’s vice president. The sheer misanthropy that accompanies Nigeria’s version of barefaced political brigandage and patronage has left households and industries in entrepreneurial Aba, the “Japan of Africa”, trapped under increasing rolling blackouts. Households in the South East that experience blackouts several times a month and every day are above the national average, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). In 2000, the combined turnover of the shoe and garment industry of Aba, the third-largest commercial city in Nigeria, was $200 million. Sources tell BusinessDay that Offor has Pius Anyim, secretary to the government of the federation, in his pocket, while Sam Amadi, chairman/CEO of NERC, is beholden to Anyim. Benjamin Dikki, director-general of the BPE, and Mohammed Bello Adoke, attorney-general, are also marionettes of the vice president. Together, they have managed to pull the wool over the eyes of President Goodluck Jonathan, keeping him out of the loop with spurious procedural and legal issues. Their delay tactics have slowed down the take-off of a project financed by a consortium of American investors, local and international banks, as well as the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank’s private-sector arm. In 2001, after the successful execution of the 22 megawatts (MW) emergency power station in Abuja to serve a dedicated distribution network within the Federal Capital Territory, Bart Nnaji, founder of Geometric, was inspired to initiate the Aba Integrated Power Project, a distribution project with an embedded generation company. In 2004, Geometric Power Limited signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Government to build a power plant in Aba, and a year later, in April 2005, Geometric signed the Aba concession agreement, also with the Federal Government, which gave it the right to distribute power to Aba. The government, NEPA and APL executed a lease agreement on April 28, 2005 for the distribution of power to the ring-fenced residential and commercial consumers at Aba. By the terms of the agreement, NEPA assigned its right to distribute electric power in the ring-fenced island of Owerrinta, Osisioma, Ogbor Hill, Factory Road, and Port Harcourt Road in Aba, and also leased its distribution facilities within the contract area. With over $500 million investment in electricity infrastructure, Geometric Power Limited, if allowed to proceed, is guaranteeing 95 percent uninterrupted power supply in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, and its environs. So far, the company has completed a power plant with a capacity to produce about 141MW of electricity in its first phase, built new distribution lines, four new sub-stations and rehabilitated another three previously used by the former PHCN. Each plant is to produce 47MW of power, supported by a 60MVA per transformer. Our sources tell us that Geometric may never turn on the lights in the Aba and Ariaria business districts if the politically-influential Emeka Offor gets away with his brazen attempt to profit from keeping 2 million residents of Aba in total darkness. “With the help of the vice president’s flunkies, a game of Russian roulette is being played,” said a source in Abuja. In suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/106/2013, filed at a federal high court in Abuja, Geometric sought to restrain BPE from listing the two business units among government-owned companies slated for privatisation, as selling or privatising the entire Enugu Disco contravenes the existing agreements between the Federal Government and Aba Power Limited and Geometric. Earlier in a newspaper advertisement, Aba Power Limited warned the public to steer clear of Enugu Disco on the basis of a lease agreement between the Federal Government, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Enugu Disco, Aba Power Limited and Geometric Power Limited. In another suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/106/2013, Interstate Electrics Limited sought to be joined in the case instituted by Aba Power Limited and Geometric Power Aba Limited against the BPE. In the understanding that an out-of-court settlement would be the best option for settling the dispute, the National Council on Privatisation (NCP) set up a peace committee. In its report, obtained by BusinessDay, the NCP committee admitted that “BPE indicated that Aba ring-fence was encumbered, yet it included Aba ring-fence in its bid and that Aba ring-fenced area belongs entirely to Aba Power Ltd with its generating power responsibilities”. A report by NERC, after a visit to the Geometric Power infrastructure in Aba, submitted that “it will be a disservice to the country in general and the company (GPAL ad APL) in particular, after investing such a huge amount of money on power infrastructure, to be denied the terms of the tripartite agreement. A disregard of the agreement will cast a bad light on the Federal Government’s privatisation process and send a wrong signal to other prospective investors in the power sector”. In February 2014, a team from the Federal Ministry of Power, led by the permanent secretary, after visiting Aba, submitted that “the sanctity of the lease agreement of 2004 and the supplementary agreement of 2006 between the Federal Government and Geometric Power be respected and maintained”. Earlier last week, a meeting at the instance of President Jonathan in Abuja, which had all the dramatis personae, including the vice president, minister of finance, minister of power, NERC chairman, DG BPP and BPE, special adviser to the president on monitoring and evaluation, permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power, and the attorney-general of the federation, met over the Geometric-Interstate dispute. Sources say the vice president ensured that the meeting failed to make any appreciable progress, even though most of those present (except DG BPE and the attorney-general, both lackeys of the VP) saw the reason for the Federal Government to correct the “obvious administrative error created during the privatisation exercise, through necessary administrative procedures to guarantee equity and fairness”. tonychristopher: so in effect we are looking at monopolistic competition or oligopolyRead this exposé and see how Emeka offor is holding down Geometric. http://businessdayonline.com/2014/04/deceit-incompetence-corruption-prevent-530m-aba-power-project/ |
manny4life: Akuko... Though Enugu disco control the SE, does it control the states ability to implement their own power transmission system? What is Abia state govt doing about it? Or has Abia state gov taken money from Emeka Offor.. As far as I'm concerned, this is a lazy excuse. After all, Geometric is not transmitting free electric to Enugu disco, they have to buy it from Geometric and sell it to final consumers. How Enugu disco decide to sell it is their business. You need to understand the process first. Geometric will generate, transmit and distribute electricity in Aba independent of ENUGU disco. Aba will be independent from EEDC and won't be a part eedc coverage. That is what Emeka Offor is fighting against... He wants Aba to be part of eedc and wants to control geometric too. The same company that hasn't done any improvement |
I just explained too you why I came up with that conclusion. You can add ur opinion of u feel otherwise. |
Based on my extensive travels both as a Undergraduate and as an NYSC member, I have had the privilege to travel thru all the cities in The south East bar a few and I have come to the conclusion that this area is indeed blessed with both Natural and Human resources. The igbos are a hardworking and resourceful people and have built their cities with their sheer determination and sweat. Here is the Top 5 cities in The south East. 1. ENUGU. Undoubtedly, ENUGU is the nuber one city in the South East. It boasts of world class infrastructures matched by few other cities in Nigeria. From excellent road networks, clean environment, low pollution rate, a National Stadium, An International airport, most nollywood locations, 2 shopping malls, classy hotels, bars, niteclubs and lounges, a sprawling residential area, huge markets, Industrial areas etc. Its has everything. I always have that buzz when I visit ENUGU. 2. OWERRI. What can I say about this City that you haven't heard off? Clean, planned and currently enjoying a facelift. A stadium, An Airport (2nd busiest in the SE), Standard Library, Shoprite undergoing contruction, Aladinma mall, Classy residential area, An International Conference centre, 4 higher institutions, Classy hotels, lounges and bars, the best night life. I always love owerri cos of its ambience and good looking people. 3. Awka. Good city too, good residential areas, a National University, a private uni, good night life too. Still. Fairly young city growing on the shadows off Onitsha. 4. Aba. Basically business district, poor infrastuctures, huge market servicing the Country, poor amenities... But has huge potentials. 5. Onitsha. A port city, huge business area, a brewery, few classy neighborhoods(33 etc) largest market, but suffering from poor planning and over population. Too many slum areas (woliwo, fegge and mgbuka obosi. Huge piles of refuse litter the city and high level of crime. |
manny4life: Bia, what has Emeka offor got to do with preventing Geometric from taking off?Simple! Emeka Offor Owns Enugu disco and he is insisting that Geometric cannot serve only aba. He wants aba and geometric to remain under eedc. Trying to sow where he did not reap. I think the case is in court. |

It really saddens me when I drive around IMO state and observe with disgust the level of mediocrity at play in his execution of works. Its people like you who come online to write trash about Rochas but are nowhere to be found on the real streets. Please I dare u at least for the sake of this forum to List 7projects your Saviour Ohakim Started and completed in IMO state? Let's hear it. |

ONITSHA — The Nigerian Navy at the Onitsha Naval Out-post in Anambra State, yesterday, arrested 20 suspected drug peddlers at Nsugbe, near Onitsha, following an intelligence report against the activities of hard drug users in the community. Briefing newsmen after the operation, the Commanding Officer of Naval Out-post, Onitsha, Navy Capt. Mike Oamen, said it was only by fighting hard drugs that the war against criminals and their syndicates could be won. Oamen noted that those arrested were selling and smuggling bags of hard drugs such as cannabis sativa and other stimulants in the community. He said the navy had assured the governor that Onitsha and its environs would never again be a haven and breeding ground for criminals and people with evil intentions. His words: “So, what we have done is to make sure that we begin to deal with the root cause. “After exhaustive discussion, especially at the security council meeting, we decided to look at how to reduce to the barest minimum, the availability of illegal drugs in Onitsha and Obosi so that it would also have an impact on the level of crime within the state. “We are working. We try to get intelligence reports so that we swoop on them and that method is beginning to yield dividends because the crime rate has reduced and we will continue to sustain the effort. “So the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, will now do its work by sorting those arrested out to know those that would be prosecuted. We’ve intensified patrol on waterways too, because it is part of the route through which they bring in the drugs in the name of vegetables. “Traditional rulers had given their unflinching support to the restoration of security in Onitsha and its environs by volunteering information that led to arrest of criminal elements in their communities.” The commander added that the collaboration of the naval out-post and the NDLEA would be a continuous exercise, adding that the navy would not give them (criminals) a breathing space in Onitsha and its environs. He said: “Very soon, those shops, kiosk, shanties and even parlours and hotels where hard drugs are sold would be closed down while their operators will have to look for better things to do.”
