A Human Rights Lawyer, Mr Festus Keyamo, has predicated the reason why the members of the Peoples Democratic Party were allegedly plotting to derail the electoral process because they were afraid of being sent to jail by the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. He also described as a national disgrace, the recapturing of the territories seized by Boko Haram Insurgents by Chadian soldiers, saying this speaks volume of the level of rots in the Nigeria Army. Speaking Saturday at the APC Youth Summit in Ado Ekiti, Keyamo said most of the consistent critics of Buhari were those with criminal records of corruption, urging Nigerian voters to reject them in the coming elections in the interest of the nation. Keyamo added that there would be a revolution that would consume all poll riggers in Nigeria, if the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Attahiru Jega is removed from office. He warned President Goodluck Jonathan and his party against scuttling the usage of Permanent Voter Cards for the general elections, saying such tendency would bring suspicion that could threaten the peace of the country after the elections. “With the way the Service Chiefs were prosecuting the war against insurgency, it was clear that they were profiting from it. At a time , they lied that Boko Haram had agreed to a ceasefire truce, only for them to strike almost the second day. This goes to tell you that Jonathan actually ordered the announcement of the ceasefire. “They later flied another kite that the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau had been killed. But only a week ago, Jonathan said Shekau must be arrested before elections. Then, Nigerians must ask them which Shekau did they kill the other time”. Keyamo pointed out that a critical look at the PDP members that were demonizing Buhari and those who claimed to be apolitical among that group, were those that were afraid of being jailed for corrupt practices running into billions of dollars. The Human Rights Advocate urged the voters to be wary of their future during the coming elections, stating that another 4-year mandate for President Jonathan would mean the extension of Insurgency and clueless governance in the country. “The PDP is accustomed to corruption . At a time when INEC was trying to perfect our electoral process, PDP went to Court to stop the use of PVCs and Smart Card Readers for elections. They said Buhari is analog and they are rejecting digital process of election. “Never had Nigerians removed any sitting President since her Independence in 1960, but this will mark the beginning because removing Jonathan from office will polish our democracy. “Jonathan had claimed severally that he has been fighting corruption , but he went ahead and abused his office by granting amnesty to former Governor of Bayelsa, DSP Alamieyeseigha. “He even made somebody standing trial for corruption as his spokesman, just as he re-presented Musiliu Obanikoro for confirmation at the Senate as Minister. Nigeria cannot continue in this direction. “His government is establishing a Mafia in Nigeria. The Nigeria waterways is being managed by crooks which is like keeping a fish in the custody of a cat to oversee. “They have tried to sabotage these elections from holding because Jonathan is afraid of Nigerians despite the endorsements here and there”, Keyamo said. Bishop David Oyedepo, the President of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has urged Christians to earnestly pray for God’s choices to emerge at all levels of leadership in the forthcoming elections. Oyedepo made the call at a monthly programme of the church tagged “One Night with The King” on Saturday morning in Lokoja. The Bishop, in his sermon titled “Engaging the Prayer of Faith For Fulfillment of Prophecy,” urged Christians to pray that God’s will should prevail in the elections. “We must commit the elections to God’s hands for His will to be done and I am sure He will rescue this nation. “I am also sure that God will defend Nigeria from bad leadership, because He rules over His people,” he said. Oyedepo, however, said that God determined the destiny and future of any nation, saying that God would determine the destiny of Nigeria. He said God was “jealous over Nigeria for the sake of the saints” and He will save the country from the hands of evil agents. “God gives kingdom of men to whomsoever He pleases. Only God’s choices will emerge in all levels of leadership in the elections,” Oyedepo declared. Quoting the book of Psalm, Chapter 24 Verse One, he said the earth is the Lord’s, as well as everything in it, the world and all who live in it. He further quoted the Psalm’s Chapter 22 Verse Eight and said that he who trusts in the Lord would be rescued and He shall deliver him. According to NAN, earlier at the programme, prayer points were offered to God for peaceful elections and for peace in the country. Oh boy!!! I love that tremble in the voice of the PDP campaign train members. The depth or shallowness of each candidate and his political form is further accentuated in the following joke currently trending in Nigeria’s social media: 1. APC: We will ensure power stability. 1. PDP: Where is Mrs Buhari? 2. APC: We are going to fight corruption 2. PDP: APC tried to hack INEC computers 3. APC: We are going to fight terrorism 3. PDP: Some APC elder statesmen are garage touts 4. APC: We will invest in agriculture 4. PDP: S/South will collapse the economy if Jonathan loses 5. APC: We are going to upgrade standard of education 5. PDP: I will expose failures of our ex heads of state 6. APC: We will curb degradation of environmental pollution 6. PDP: Buhari doesn’t know his phone number. 7. APC: Nigeria’s wealth must be enjoyed by all of us 7. PDP: Buhari put Umaru Dikko inside a crate 8. APC: We will encourage rural development 8. PDP: Buhari cannot use a computer. 9. Jonathan and his clueless crew steal 400,000 crude barrels per day. 9. Buhari has Prostate Cancer. Feel free to add the chaos and jeorpady reflections. |
