As someone who has managed HR in a number of blue-chip firms, I would tell you for free that chartered accountants ARE always in demand. If you are chartered, have a 2.1, and are under 26 maximum, you are almost guaranteed to get a decent paying job.

Likewise if you have by a stroke of luck passed 3 papers of the Actuarial certification, or 2 levels of CFA, you have VERY strong prospects of getting a great starting job in insurance and finance.

Even in America, if you have a B.SC in Gender Studies, just prefer to become a Bartender or Barrista cos you aint going nowhere.

They can actually work anywhere, as long as you have quality experience and relevant certifications. I know many who went to UK and Europe in the last two years. I also know a few that went to work in the US and canada (fewer that the UK folks)

Face reality . I chartered 8 years ago. I have a managerial role. It's not rosy like before. You think when you go abroad as a CA you'll just be given accounting roles. PhD accountant here still do cleaning job when they get there, even doctors. Make I leave you. Add skills to your certificate if not you'll continue dreaming

Menial/non-skilled/skilled jobs are inevitable when you just arrive abroad and trying to find your footing. When you stabilize, you can move to your preferred roles.

I won’t be surprised if the managerial role you hold is in accounting!

When i came to the UK i had over 12k debt as a student. I stayed in a city where i payed less than 500 including bills and light gas with my family and i single handedly even as a student cleared those bills within 8 months yes.... 8 months dont ask me how.


But the truth is if i where in London almost half of that will go into rent.

Regarding jobs, I think you are coming from the point of someone already established in the UK. For someone just coming in and not too attractive to an employer, you want to widen your prospective opportunities as much as possible. You only do this in larger cities like London.

As an early migrant USA will be the best option due to the fact that you can find ur way anyhow even if ur visa expires as long u are in u are in.. This is not what u can do in UK.

For the UK, it seems like if you are not in certain careers that can provide sponsorship after graduating, you are going back home.
But in the US, you can rough your way through even for years before stabilizing. And this is a major advantage over UK.
