Souljagirl:
i really want to see "No country for old men". i heard Javier Bandem won an award and that he was BAD ASS in the movie. yes, that's my kind of movie - blood/gore/suspense/horror all in one. tongue
So you actually wasted time & money on Im Am legend when you could have watched a good movie??

I like how sleekdot uses the fact that one girl "lied" about being a virgin as a reason for cheating then goes off and uses a girl who actually was a virgin anyway.

Some of you dont deserve to be forgiven and hopefully you never will be.

Happy New Year though!

I think Will is a mediocre actor. His skills are C+ at best. He's merely a clown that tries to be serious. I only watch his movies when they are on DVDs or on network television. Even then, I barely bother

Neoteny:
@DE.Reloaded, even the unforgiving roger ebert gave the movie a B rating and the average over at Rotten Tomatoes was a B.
Who is unforgiving? I love Ebert but when it comes to movies with black actors/actresses, i dont take him seriously. He tends to give them high scores even if they are complete crap just because his wife is black. So I wouldnt be surprised if he gave something idiotic like "Little Man" an A
TV/Movies › Re: No More Igbo Movies: Why? by Dreloaded(f): 3:21pm On Jan 11, 2008
I think olydimwitted should be banned. After all he's still writing tribalistic rubbish despite the fact that the thread was cleaned up

nuzo:
Complaining about lack of Igbo movies may be worth it, but how do you convince these business men who are trying to feed their families to start making Igbo movies when they make far much money making English movies.

If we must blame anybody for lack of Igbo movies, it would have to be the wider audience, home and abroad who have accepted the nollywood movies.
.

First off nuzo, I want to thank you for bringing the thread back to the topic despite the psychotic rants of ajisafe, olydmiwitted and the other imbeciles

Now I understand that English Nollywood makes more money for the industry. That's fine. No ONE is saying that they should stop. Infact I don't think you can quote anyone saying such a thing on this thread. My question is why can't they do both? Both WILL sell. Maybe one more than the other but they will both sell either way and that way everyone who likes both kind of movies can have easy access. People shouldnt have to go to the East to watch such movies. It wasnt like that before else I wouldnt have the ones that I have at home.

So the audience can't be blamed, it's the industry that should get the criticism for completely cutting off one for the other. They can make both accessible to everyone. Let us have the option to pick and choose.

Also I don't believe anyone said that such movies is the only way to show Igbo culture. Language however is a big part of one's culture though esp in Africa so why eradicate it just to gain favor from people outside? I think the excuse of "well English is an universal language" is pitiful since that hasnt stopped Bollywood from making it big in the world of film nor has it stopped them from gaining international awards.

Lol moderators are usually people who are already using the board

You dont need to PAY anyone anything. You decide on those who seem sane, never get into trouble and always the peackmaker like debosky, akolawole, etc. They work from home on their own, you dont provide anything for them exceopt special access to certain forum functions but YES you have to oversee the moderators.

.he told me that his anger towards me was aggravated by what his sister told him. please my dear friends hear this--he said she told him i called my sister in the us and was so excited, telling her that 'the old witch is dead now i can have peace in my home.good riddance to bad rubbish'.i was in shock, tears began to flow down my cheeks.as i was trying to recover from that shock,he dumped another bombshell.my sister in law told her brother that i said i told my mother that i'll be sending huge sums of his money to her since my mom in law was dead.
at that moment,i thought i was dead.
i .now i am relieved that i'm no longer a witch to my husband's eyes, and he now knows who the real culprit is. my annoyance stems from the fact that he can hear such horrible things about me and keep them to himself, and believe them. one thing i know for sure is his sister is moving out once we return.and then secondly,we have to re-address things in this marriage.i thought things were 100percent okay, but now i know that is a big lie.he has told his sister that she must not breathe a word of the past 12 days to anyone,or else he'll seize her passport.i'm still watching and waiting.truly,i'm no longer so interested in this marriage.this is the plain truth.it only means that if i had not been persistently pleading, these things woul not have come out.
What did I say? Did I not say the sister was a witch? No one watches family fight and NOT try to calm the offended party unless they are trying to make things worse. THAT is the reason why she was speaking Efik to her brother around you. I'm glad you've gotten things straighten out

I also agree with your diappointment in your husband for beliving his sister's garbage without talking to you about it. That was pretty weak of him. It's guys like that whom anyone can make up outlandish lies to and they'd believe everyone over you. You really should talk to your husband about that when you two get back from Nigeria and I am very glad that he has threatened your sister to keep her mouth shut.

I understand your frustration with everyone, but if you love him enough, stick with the marriage as long as you two talk things out and come to an understanding where such a thing wont happen again. You're angry now but don't let that get in the way of putting effort in this.  smiley

Cant believe any thinks I Am Legend would be even nominated for "Best Use of Light" talkless of "Best Picture"

With all the good movies that came out in the Fall, you wanna compare mediocre crap to No Country?

Will isnt getting any award, sorry. Denzerl would sooner get one for American Gangster and that's not happening either.

Osisi, I don't agree with you saying she shouldnt go to Nigeria. That will make the family VERY suspicious considering I am sure the mom said alot of crap about her upon getting back to Nigeria after the argument. I do understand what you mean by them giving her hell when she and her husband gets to Nigeria, however if she's able to get him to see reason before they travel then hopefully he'll stand up for her in the face of family.

You would allow your sister to trash talk your wife in your home? So why don't you tell your sister to start doing your "wife's" duties!

av spoken to my mom about it and she is not happy.she said like you all did to settle things before leaving for nigeria.she said to go into the room, lock the door, put the key in my bra and tell him we just have ther to settle or else nobody is stepping out of the room.he booked his flight to nigeria for sunday.i also have a seat on that flight too,and i've told him that much.i'll keep trying and i know he'll give in,albeit gradually.my sister in law is a small fry to me.when this blows over,i'll show her who's boss i promise.she has really hurt my feelings. i thought we were closer than this.when my husband did not want her to stay with us,i fought for her to stay,so she'll be able to save some money to finish up her education.when she has no money,i'm always there for her. i know i've been there for her when all seems down and she knows it.i just pray to make things right with my man, then i'll ask her why she was so cruel.this is a mess  created i know, but i'll come out of it a better fellow.
his freind calle dme saying he is deeply shaken by his mom's passing and i should keep talking to him.he told me he cried.i feel so sad because all was well befor the answering machine episode, he's been making calls to nigeria for things to start taking shape before he gets back-he's the 1st son. the phonecard got finished and he still had other calls to make.i called a friend of mine to send me a card PIN by text and she did.i copied it down and gave it to him.the guy took it and said 'thankx'.i hope this is the beginning of a break through.i've known my man for 5 years and he has never done this.
i hope this blows over really soon.thanks d re-loaded,adeboo,sly,busta et al.you guys are the best.
Lol I hope you've learned your lesson in regards to this whole "letting family stay with you" epsiode. ASs you can see the little brat has forgotten all the times you've helped her out. She's dangerous, just keep that in mind

Anyway the whole situation with the pin card, job well done. Helping him with stuff like that is the best way to go. Groveling and weeping at his feet is gonna help matters much anymore. Just try to be there and let him know that you are around and continue doing your own then. Hopefully before Sunday everything will be fine. The only problem is making sure that it wont start up again once you two get to Nigeria

Lol, was it a coincedence you two ended up getting the same plane?

Slut is someone who sleeps around with various men without being in a relationship NOT someone who decides to be part of a tape with her boyfriend.

The latter is merely a naive idiot.

this is more than sexy lingerie honestly.the guy i invited to come and beg just left.he called my hubby and spoke to him.i heard his friend telling him he should not take it as far as he has,and he has to cool down.he replied that he said i laughed on purpose and he sees it like i'm so excited his mom died.after the guy left i went to beg again for the umpteenth time.he just stood up and went away.
i have just got a BAticket online for myself.i went to him and told him was going to nigeria even if he does not put me in the plan.i also begged him to forget about everything so we do not disgrace ourselves further in nigeria.i know he heard me but he did not respond.
i don't know what my sister in law has up her sleeves now.i hate that i ever told my husband to let her stay with us.she told me' why have you not even had a baby?at least my mother would have been happier if she had seen her son's child' shocked i think she'll cause trouble for me in nigeria.she has been making all sorts of comments and going to talk to her brother in their language-efik.i don't understand because i'm ibo.she does not usually speak efik because her brother warned her not to since i don't understand it.
one thing i know is if things get okay b/w my hubby and i,she'll leave.
After all the pleading and stuff, he still thinks you're excited over the death of his mom? Does he really think you ENJOY this situation?

Like I said I knew that sister in law of yours was a homewrecking tart, instead of trying to make her brother see reason, she's making matters worse> Then again this is your husband's fault. It's one thing to fight with your spouse, it's another to let the whole world in on it. She sees the way he's treating you so she is now taking the liberty to disrespect you. That's always how it goes.

I sincerely hope this matter is settled before you two go to Nigeria cos like I said if your husband talks about this situation at all over there, you are in trouble. You also better hope that he tells his sister to shut up too. You might want to ask your mom or whomever from your side for advice.
Family › Re: My Marriage Is Dying Before My Eyes: Help by Dreloaded(f): 8:53pm On Jan 08, 2008
I think the sister in law is a witch sef.

Instead of her constantly telling the OP things that will make her feel worse like "oh guess what, brother brought chinese, he doesnt want your food", shouldnt she be talking to her brother about his current behavior?

That's what a sane person who isnt looking to destroy a home would do.

If a woman isnt free within the 4 walls of her husbands house to make mistakes then where will she be free to do so?

The problem i see is a long term one. She is only 27, has no kids for this man and she has to beg for weeks and get family and friends to calm her husband for something so trivial? What happens when they both reach 45 and she mistakenly puts too much salt in the rice? Will he take a koboko to her?
I wonder.

I'm not saying her husband is a horrible person adeboo. I'm just saying he's going overboard with the anger. What I personally hate is that his family is seeing this and if she's smart and actually does follow him to Nigeria for the funeral, you'll see how they will treat her because from the way he's acting now, I wont be surprised if he lets the entire family in on everything.

Considering the fight that happened when the mom was in England, lord knows the kind of name she has been given back in Nigeria then for them to find out about this crap too? I'm already feel immense pity for her right now because I assure you, she will go through hell in Nigeria. She can only pray her husband wakes up before he travels and that he keeps his mouth shut too

She still has the pride of having him at home even thiugh he aint talking to her - he could have moved out.
If a guy can move out over something like that, then he never loved her in the first place and the marriage was a sham.

What pride does she have left? grin He has ridiculed her before his "little" sister (who i presume is younger than she is), forced her to lie at work and go seeking help from friends who ordinarily would never have seen her in times of distress . . .
She has probably cried and begged and been shunned in front of his family members . . . what pride is left to swallow?

For this reason and many i am grateful i was born a male. cheesy Is this how women beg their husbands for every little thing? I'm looking forward to getting married and being a big baby too. grin
Lol idiot. Find a Lagos woman that will beg you. You will look and never find  tongue

You are so right about him treating her like that in front of his family. I swear people can be quite dumb. You'll see, she will soon come back after this crap is over to make another thread of how his younger sister doesnt respect her anymore and all sorts of nonsense.
