Doesn't it make more sense that lagos with a higher population and a cultural melting pot should have a higher single motherhood rate? Something is fishy with this study

I never said the doc is the only person managing a patient. Maybe u don't understand me. Lemme give an example
If a patient asks "Oh doc, what foods should I avoid as a diabetic? Can I take cheese or ugba as a hypertensive? ", do you start dealing the dietician there? You can refer to a dietician but then what if your facility doesn't have the services of one. What do you do? Now you understand
Now I understand.

And I do work in a facility that doesn't have the services of a dietitian or more specialized services so yes I can speak for general side effects, diets and exercises or recommendations the average doctor should know and the ones I encounter along my practice and can give general advice. It is for the rarer cases I can pick a phone in front of my patient and tell them that I am calling an expert for advice.

But overall, please there is no shame in googling symptoms (althoughthe way a medical professional will googlea symptom is very different from those without medical knowledge). It is a sign of humility and the intent to do no harm by realizing that you don't know everything.

The thing is this. Patient care solely lies on the feet of the physician. So anything that pertains to their health, whether dietary, lifestyle, drug interactions, side effects etc (which lies slightly beyond our field of study or domain) is required of you as the primary care provider, and s/he looks up to u to provide it. So try a nd learn more about those fields. Besides they were taught in med school, so sharpen your knowledge
Yes and no. No one has all knowledge. That patients come to the hospital to see a doctor doesn't mean that it is only the doctor that is treating him/her. Actually a lot goes on behind the scenes and the patient is managed by a Healthcare team not just the doctor.

The same way you watch a movie to see the actors, but there is a whole production team behind the scenes like producers, directors, prop team, costume designers and so on

I regret getting married. My marriage is just a year old.
I can't go into details but the bottom line is, I am not divorcing just want a separation.
Reason for my decision
1) I hate sex where as my husband loves it. I have being unable to satisfactory fulfill my conjugal duties to him. I can stay a year without sex and I am happy but its unfair to my husband because he loves sex. We quarrel about it often.

2) Where we are living is affecting my mental health and I pleaded with him for us to relocate but he refused.

There are more which I can't type because it will make the post lengthy

I want to live apart from my husband and his family. I just want to move to another state and stay alone, all by myself. Marriage is not for me. I don't want my parent to know about it too because they wouldn't approve of it ( I have always given them this impression that I am happy in my marriage).

I am currently pregnant and we both agreed he will have custody of the child when he is born.

I just want to know if I will regret my action in the long run
You are entitled to feel the way you feel. Do what is in your best interest lest the marriage fester and you Raise that child with resentment

Sometimes I Google side effects and drug drug interactions. Many docs don't pay attention to those
True because it happens to only a few people in the grand scheme of things. It is also not really our field of study but the real experts on side effects will be pharmacists and pharmacologists. They are who I consult for side effects especially the rarer ones.

For serious ailments not minor .... it shows their not as smart as old doctors
While that is true, a lot of patient come to the hospital saying that they have malaria and typhoid or craw craw, not knowing that based on their symptoms, it is worse than that. Just because the doctor has a poker face doesn't mean he is not suspect a more insidious diagnosis based on your "typhoid and malaria" symptoms

From personal experience, one thing I google is drug dosages, especially for children, the amount of antibiotics syrup I will give to a newborn is different from what I will give to a one year old and a 3 year old. Although I can calculate a lot of figures from my head, I prefer a calculator for accuracy, besides another reason to Google is if a certain drug is safe for certain populations of people. I can never be caught dead giving, most hypertensive drugs, tetracycline or ciprofloxacin to a pregnant or nursing mother.

Another instance where one needs to google is skin diseases, because they look different in black people than white people you see in medical textbooks.

I have diagnosed many cases of Tuberculosis and HIV and 2 cases of leprosy, one patau syndrome and many more so far in my practice. Just by googling pictures.

I also helped diagnose a woman who had spent over 3.8 million naira in what she and her previous doctors believed to be ulcer that she was suffering from only to question her further and realize that the lady symptoms were because she was going through MENOPAUSE.

Like we dont regularly see doctors checking for symptoms of mere simple cases on google
it is better to check Google than to make a mistake on a patients body. Even old-fashioned doctors would pore through the references in front of patients. Nothing is wrong with looking online

It is VERY FALSE to say that Nigerians dont pay tax.
Not only do we pay tax but we also pay a great many informal and unauthorized taxes which add up.
Convert that tax to the dollar or pound and you will see that it is little in the grand scheme of things where health is concerned.

Hospitals cost money, staff cost money, to get decent standard equipment cost money, even research to discover new drugs and vaccines to treat the myriad of diseases plaguing hhumans cost millions and billions of dollars.
So all that cost has to be recouped somehow. That is why Nigerians pay out of pocket for healthcare because even the subsided, substandard Healthcare that you are criticising is being paid for by someone.

Yes good health is a basic human right, but Healthcare is a business, not a charity.

Massey Street Hospital that almost made me lose my daughter to some "Heartless Student Doctors" about 7 years ago. If not for my wife's vigilance and resilience....

It's one thing for a hospital building to be gigantic. It's another thing for it to be fully equipped and most importantly the health workers should prioritise human life.
There are no student doctors working in Massey oga.

But sorry for what you went through, hopefully your daughter is okay

Emergency dad indeed....

I was in the town general hospital two weeks ago.....And a Similar scenario took place......But before we could see,the boy has already japa-ed.......Even the nurses couldn't stop themselves from laughing while they kept bombarding the girl who just gave birth with insults...

The truth is that most girls of nowadays deserve these kind of guys.......They prefer following boys with no ambition but only have their big polos and saggy boxers to legit hustling guys cheesy so they should be prepared to live with the consequences for the rest of their lives.

Men that behave the way that guy did, deserve to be infertile for the rest of their life, they also deserve to never amount to anything, they also deserve to have no destiny helpers as long as they live.

The truth is that even some the legit hustling guys are almost no different. Infact they are more insidious.

When I see people freak for this sex of a thing I just laugh. The reward for your cravings is what you get when you can't control yourself. I am always grateful to God for making me this kind of person I am. I hardly have any sexual attraction to most girls. My spec is always very rare. In a thousand girl, I might not find my spec. From their fingers to their toe nails, their skin color, to their teeth, armpit, smell etc.

Omo B4 I find a girl to say I want to sex, it could take me many months or even a year. This is why I miss my Ex.

Sex is just overrated. Whenever I have a call girl, I only ask for handjob (and she must have beautiful fingers). That's all.

Chai!!! I wish I was a Hollywood director. This would have been a hit movie. This is the usual format Hollywood movies take:
1. Young girl is being abused.
2. Hero saves young girl.
3. Young girl falls in love with hero.
4. Everything concludes with a hot spicy sex scene. 🔥
A popular movie that used this format is twilight. tongue
hero is stupid.

Now you are giving me a fûcking excuse for why some men are abandoned.
Most men are busy providing for their socalled legitimate kids and the wife and all the extended fuckin family issues that they don't have quality time with their kids. It's the women/wives who have all the time in the world for bonding. My own dad is an example but I never for once forgot his presence nor will I ever. If fathers don't provide, y'all will come with the irresponsible dad routine and drive him insane. Men must hustle and take care of shiit and get must still find enough time to bond with kids enough to leave an impression on them? Kuku kill them as per dem be donkeys na.No where in your narrative is anyone taking care of HIM or giving a fûck about what he wants . It's always about what others want, not him. Shey he came into the world to be a donkey abi? So don't
come at me with that talk. That's a bloody excuse after all the marriage talk. At least if he is not married, he will be alone and fend for himself.

So what's the use of legitimacy then if you still think if men don't do bla bla bla...they get abandoned in old age. Isn't it obvious from your grandpa story that y'all don't give two shiits about him? If y'all did, one of you will permanently be at his neck and call till he dies. Now that's a man's experience for you. I imagine if grandma is still alive, she would be living in y'all houses and getting all the love. I have seen men who never abandoned their fûcking families and was always providing and they were left for dead by mumu kids hamstrung by their mothers. Should I start telling you about many of them I listen to and counsel? Or the ones who died of broken heart as their kids went off with their mum or fight over mumu properties while their fathers were still alive? You don't know anything about being a father or even as a man, so don't lecture me on your grandpa's story alone. I have proofs of more than 50 men who were good and were left to rot. Only heavens know how many more are dying silently with no one to talk to. So fûck no!!! Marriage is no guarantee of a happily ever after, not in this universe.

You buttressed all my points. Marriage favours no man. I have both my grandpas dead long before their wives died. Why? Pressures of always attending to everyone but themselves because that's the old way of proving you are a man. My grandma lives with my mum and I help take care of her. I wish my grandads were alive so I could spoil them rotten with love and listen to their wisdom but they all died 30 fûcking years before their wives. I have sworn to make sure my dad gets all the love in the world not because he married my mum or had me inside wedlock nonsense. If I were born outside wedlock, i would do the same because I know just how hard it is to be a man in this mudafûcked up world

There are no guarantees your so-called legitimate kids will give a fûck about you when you grown old or they will take care of you. Thinking marriage will help you navigate old age better as a man is an illusion for men. It doesn't ever work. Now men are planning their own retirement and making sure they die with dignity, not shiiting on themselves and all that shiit with no one taking care of them.

The stuff you whine about. Single mothers do both. They go out to work and still come home to see their children.

But if you want to continue to manufacture excuses, just keep staying Single with your bastards.

If you have decided to be single. It is a good thing. The issue with why marriages fail is that people expect Disney level of happiness in marriage without putting in the required work.

People for seeing their spouses as individuals instead of ATM/ maid and bedwench or property.

While good marriages should be happy, it should not be the leading factor.

Lmaooo.... Legitimacy dey pepper you sha.

Only God knows what men endure in such legitimacy and they die uncared, unloved and used up. Yet, you still want other men to be hooked into such slavery and when they say no, you bring up legitimacy and responsibilities as hoooks to bait them. Men are waking up, trust me
It is mostly men who don't treat their wives and children well or take time to know and interact with them and invest emotionally in their lives that will die unloved. That is secret to why more men die alone.

My grandpa is almost 100 years, blind with dementia. Yet my aunt comes every year from America to celebrate his birthday which was last week tuesday. Yes all his children are middle aged adults with their lives and families. All he needs to do though is call and cry on the phone that no one has visited him and everyone will come, despite the fact that he was visited two wTuesday and has probably forgotten. He also has two caretakers. Yes there is loneliness in old age. But he has not been abandoned. Though he is a stubborn and strict disciplinarian. He never stopped being there for his children and grandchildren and didn't have illegitimate children.

Compare that with other men who have done all manner of atrocities, men who are wife-beaters, who cheat, who illegitimate children, who are deadbeats that don't contribute to the family. Those are the ones who will die alone and miserable.

I have always advised men to build alone . Never build ur home with ur wife! It is risky . Very risky. I witnessed a 60 year old wife and 67 year old husband fight bitterly cos the man had a son outside. The wife knowing fully well she contributed to the property they live in which happens to be only house. Asked court to sell off the property and give her more than half of the proceeds. She provided strong evidence and that house was sold. Old man is now a tenant, old woman moved in with her son after brainwashing all her kids to hate father
But the man bleeped up so he deserves it.
