Please does guilt for abortion still exist? It does exist because God gave conscience. But maybe some ladies have dead conscience on that.
it exists for some and doesn't for others. Abortion is done because of circumstances.

Romance › Re: He Broke Her, But She Stayed — The Untold Story Of My Mother’s Strength by DrFunmisticGlow: 4:57pm On Apr 17, 2025
Eberechukwu4u:
All the stories I post on Nairaland are true accounts drawn from real-life experiences. I’m sharing them here to hear your sincere thoughts and opinions. Thanks1️⃣♥️ 🇳🇬's

I grew up in a house where silence was survival.
Where laughter was rare and fear had a permanent seat at the table. My father was a police officer.
Feared by people outside hated by the ones inside.
He had a voice that shook the walls and a temper that made the air thick.
When he entered the house, we all disappeared sometimes into corners, sometimes into ourselves. He didn’t beat us often. But the shouting, the insults, the starvation That one, we felt it in our bones. My mother? She was a shadow of a woman. Frying Akara morning to night just to feed us. Rain or sun, pregnancy or not, she would sit by that fire with swollen feet and a tired smile.
She never ate first. She gave us what she had sometimes one piece of akara and water before bed.
She’d say, Eat, my child. I’m not hungry. But we knew she was lying. My father had women everywhere.
He would travel for duty only for us to find out later that he had children in two other states.
And when my mother would cry or confront him, he would shout until she backed down. Sometimes he wouldn’t give her money for a week. Sometimes two.
We used to beg. We used to borrow.
We used to eat salt and garri, and sometimes nothing at all. Yet, somehow, my mother never stopped being kind.
She prayed for him. She covered his shame. She stayed.
I watched her grow older, not from age but from pain. Her back curved. Her eyes lost light. But she stayed. Because in her world, women didn’t leave. They endured.
Today, my father is a retired officer.
He walks with pride and still talks with thunder.
But sometimes I want to shake him and say you were supposed to protect us. You were the reason we feared home. My mother? She still sells akara.
Now with grey hair, still with those burnt fingers, wiping sweat off her brows like a warrior in a silent war.
I don’t know how she made it through those years.
I don’t know how she still smiles when she sees him.
But I know she is the reason I believe in strength.
She is the reason I fight for peace. She is the reason I say If your home doesn’t feel safe, it’s not your fault. It’s not God’s will. It’s not love.
To every woman who gave her life to a man who gave her pain
You’re not weak. You’re not stupid.
Imagine if my mum left? Today, I see women leave marriage over small things, but look at the story of my mum; she stayed with him to raise us.
Marriage is for better and worse. Don’t leave your marriage no matter what.
May the lord help everyone.

What are your thoughts on this?

DISCLAIMER : NOT MY STORY❗
you are lowkey glorifying abuse.

Your mum should have left.

There is no reward for enduring a piece of shit man on earth or in heaven.

Hello Guys,

I'm throwing this question to you because it's very important. Every time I ask, "how is Nairaland?" I'm told that it is fine. If I ask what are the challenges I'm told there are none.

So I need to talk to you guys directly about what you think is going on and what you want us to do. I have not had the confidence to make major changes on Nairaland. I have a little confidence now because of AI.

What are your complaints, your challenges, your issues. What are the things that can drive people away and need to be nipped?

Speak your mind, but don't be rude. Thanks.

Here’s a polished and grammatically correct version of your thoughts, completed with a natural flow:
I understand your view. Standards must be high, but I’d like to believe there are many people who could easily meet these standards yet still didn’t gain admission. Also, while I get your position, it could easily come across as ‘blaming’ the learners rather than the teachers. I think the teaching side has failed more people than their own intellect ever did.

A bad doctor puts lives at risk, sure, but we also have engineers building bridges that carry tens of thousands daily. We have pilots and others in high-stakes jobs, yet they manage to contribute to society without much fuss about shortage. It all boils down to training and retraining.

In many Western countries, nurses are already being trained to take on more tasking roles like prescription. Nurses prescribe medications, not just OTC, but the whole. They are starting to realise that hoarding certain knowledge for a select group, who are never enough to go around, is actually killing more people than it’s saving.
I like your salient points, and agree. I've never agreed with hoarding information to an elite few. However, brain drain is not limited to medicals alone, engineers and techs are still leaving. The brightest of the brightest as you all like to say.

Manage which tide

The most experienced/Brilliant doctors have left so nobody is actually training all the new doctors you churn out.
So, your quantity jump is without quality.

Also, also, half of the new doctors you're producing have written or about to write their ielts before they even go for service. They are barely paying attention to whatever they're doing cos they have important exams to focus on
Exactly. Many of my med school teachers have gone abroad, mostly only those who are trapped by family or responsibilities that stay here.

This "standards" talk is the same line of argument that is always used by any group looking to restrict competition in their line of business. Isn't that what bodies like medical boards are for?

Just graduating from a school with "medical" in its name doesn't grant anyone license to practice medicine, and for most Nigerians, at present the alternative to your favored few "high standards" doctors are roadside peddlers of "patent" medicine quackery, native "doctors", religious conmen masquerading as "prophets", etc. Even medical school dropouts would be preferable to all of these.
But med school dropouts can still do a lot of damage.

They need to train more medical students, I agree, but those that want to be train must work hard to prove themselves. SIMPLE!!

The only way out is to keep churning out more doctors until the international market becomes over-saturated and extremely competitive for newbies. You can ask India what they did to tech sector. Too many people are now applying to jobs that don't exist.

You people should stop hoarding medical knowledge at the detriment of people's health. People want to be doctor, you failed to admit them, failed to build new training grounds, yet complain every four market days about shortage of doctors.
unfortunately, standards to admit medical courses must remain high. If you lower standards, just anybody anyhow will become a just anyhow doctor, nurse, pharmacist , lab scientists, physiotherapist etc. Do you want to put your life or the lives of your I'll relatives and loved ones in the hands of these kind of people?

This is how questions should be curated. Education takes place in more than the 4 walls of a classroom.

He was an adult undergraduate who is very poor and at one occasion when transport fares were increased in RTC . He was stranded... The touts pitied the bood looking broke guy and urged him to meet their ticketing lady and see what sh can do.. the lady is a tout too but sells ticket at the park.. sh knows her way around making runs money at the garage..

The lady helped hi complete the transport, got his number, found out he was focused but poor, got into his life with alot of financial support, all he gave the lady was a very genuine and commuted marriage... The rest is story of where they got to in life...

Guy, I believe sometimes . If it requires u to bail out a guy as a lady so long as he will stay true to his promise ND marry u... Do it.. life is not textbook.. it churns our different flavours
I reject that kind of destiny sha. Being a female breadwinner looks like it sucks.

Can u..?

I just want to know how much u place money over marriage or marriage over money.
This your question is very somehow. Men may like to see women as objects, but this is the first time I am seeing a good man being put on cleaeance sale.

what kind of good man is willing to settle for one million? In this economy?

If it's not to pay for medical bills, then one million for a man sounds like more trouble than it's worth. It's like buying a Peugeot 304 for the purpose of starting an Uber business.

WTF is a good man anyway? Besides I am sure that being a good person is not enough for a great, successful marriage.

She could have decided not to give him her number....
Or decide to ignore his call if she ddnt like him
Or not respond to his chat...
Or just tell him straight up she's not interested

But nooooo....agreeing to a free food date and asking for 40k clothe is how she wants to get rid ....

I mean....why does this narrative make sense to only you women?? grin grin
@ bolded doesn't work at all. Many men don't take no for an answer and can become creepy and violent when a lady rejects them. No lady wants to be beaten up, raped, kidnapped or murdered.

Giving fake number no longer works as they will call you direct.

Ignoring their chats when all the man needs is at least 10 unknown numbers to harass you.

So the best way to repel him is to be as repulsive as possible to him, and the best way is to act nice when he's in physical range, then become nasty, entitled and bill him [outrageously] online especially if he's broke. It works like a charm and the chances of bodyily harm and loss is usually less for the lady.

I prefer to ignore, and if the guy starts becoming creepy, send him dick pics and tell him to send me asshole pics.

That's the whole truth.
A lot of men hate women very much but marry them because of what women do for them

Sex mate
Baby maker
Nanny for their children
Housekeeper: Cook,laundry,Clean,etc

Marriage benefits men more.
Reason why they remarry as soon as their wives die.

Some men look dirty and unkempt until a wife comes into their lives.

As for me,I have no trust in my husband.
He is a typical Nigerian man.

I started having Pregnancy induced hypertension in my second pregnancy but my husband(in the selfish nature of men) kept hammering that we were going to try for a 4th child, despite my health condition..Asthmatic(and I had bad exacerbations in both pregnancies) plus preeclampsia.
Eventually signed for a BTL during my CS.
3 Children are more than enough.
I had even wanted 2 ,only for the second pregnancy to come as twins.
I always put myself and children first.
Na mumu dey trust man
honesty at this point, is it worth it to get married?

More than the fear of getting married for me, is the fear of being a single mother or worse, a married single mum.

Calm down.
I have been reading your comments and I agreed with you until this.

I have 3 children.
1st pregnancy was a single birth.. Vaginal delivery
2nd pregnancy..a set of twins.C/S
My husband and I are medical doctors.
I worked all through both pregnancies and saved up money for MY delivery.
I only started maternity leave 3 weeks before my EDD.
Men are naturally very selfish people.

A reasonable woman should not put her hope on a man.
If women know how much their husbands hate them for real, they will love themselves more.
Husband is just waiting for you to die so he can marry a new wife.
it is well. A lot of men deep down hate women, but marry them anyway because of what women can provide and how they can make their life easier.

It's called an emergency for a reason - you can never be fully prepared for it. Just pray to God you don't encounter one beyond your power and financial capacity.

A friend of mine was in a similar situation months back. He cried to me for help after spending over a million in less than 48hours. Luckily for him and his wife, treatment was not stopped while he was out sourcing funds to cover the outstanding bill.

Your comments and most others on this thread are quite disheartening. Compassion matters even to animals, particularly in matters of life or death as this. Where is our humanity? What has happened to us?? We've become so numb that the sanctity of human life means absolutely nothing us anymore.

And for these reasons, if you make it into the House of Reps, you'd introduce a bill to stop poor people (or anyone who can't put aside, say, 500k from having kids?) Goodluck with Utopia.

It's ok for you to use your present position to advise individual parents to have fewer kids. But a blanket stance that says have kids if you can raise 500k is utopia. It is not achievable. Even if it is achievable, it is a terrible idea - I don't even have time to explain the ramifications to you. But I'd just tell you that Lee Kwan Yew tried it in Singapore. He was encouraging rich women to have kids and poor women not too - reportedly sterilised some of the poor women while at it. Today, that country's demographic issues are so bad that once it's 8pm, they start playing jingles on radio reminding people to go home and have sex. They want kids!

A perfect society does not exist. Every society goes through its phases. What happened to that man is sad. But it was NOT preventable. The only way to prevent it would have been for him not to marry or get her pregnant. And the day that happens (poor people, 70-80% of Nigerians, stop having kids) will never arrive.
of course I know it's not possible to ask poor women to stop having kids indiscriminately like rats, after all I can't force adults to stop making bad decisions.

Funny enough there are ways to make having kids undesirable.

If having and caring for children becomes so expensive that it is considered a luxury for the poor, or if they are men and women are penalized for having more than 3 children, then the population growth can be controlled and there will be more resources and jobs for our children and grandchildren.

Here in nigeria, there is family and community support to raise children and ease the burden of parents, no such thing abroad.
