Popular TikTok personality Peller has once again stirred public debate—this time not over a viral video, but a job offer that has raised eyebrows and sparked strong reactions online.

In a video shared on X, Peller announced that he is looking to hire two photographers from a pool of twenty applicants. The surprising part, however, was his stated requirement: candidates must have a Master’s degree to qualify for the position, which pays ₦500,000 monthly.

According to Peller, the requirement is justified, as banks also demand advanced degrees while offering even lower salaries. He said if graduates are willing to pursue such roles, then they should also be willing to meet similar demands for better pay. The comment, intended to defend his position, only fueled more controversy.

Many Nigerians took to social media to criticize the requirement as unnecessary and even insulting, arguing that skill and portfolio should matter more than academic credentials in creative fields like photography.

“How does having a Master’s degree improve the quality of your work?” asked @THE_CRAFT3R. “He should be asking about their past projects instead of a degree.”

Another user, @MascotOgbe, wrote, “If you want to be cheaply popular in Nigeria, just be stupid. Peller is a perfect example.”

Some accused him of mocking the education system. @PatrikoBayern said, “He doesn’t have to disrespect Master’s certificates. That’s an absurdity. Don’t mock the certification. It cost money and intellect.”

Others, while not necessarily supporting the requirement, defended Peller’s right to set the terms for his own job offer.

Our relationship just ticked the 1yrs 3months mark. I told him at the beginning that I’d love for him to propose to me b4 we start getting intimate as most relationships built on intimacy don’t last. I wonder what would have happened if your had for example, a peripartum cardiomyopathy after one of your pregnancies, this disease affects the heart so much that you would find it so difficult to breathe and carry your baby not to talk of breastfeed. The doctors will have to give you medication that to save your life, would be unsafe to breastfeed and dry up your milk supply. Many mothers will gladly do that and buy formula, just to feel better.

What if you had TB? HIV? Hepatitis B?

Consider schooling in other countries in Europe. A masters in a health related course.

Or you could try Saudi Arabia, work under them with contract for 5 years and use that money to prepare for USLME, MCCQE, or Australian papers.

No physician works 72 hours call in any government hospitals. Not even Residents or house officers. Most of them (Consultant) have their own private practices and do locum jobs .

If you work 72 hours at a stretch in private practices and locum jobs,it is not the government business..

They do 72hr calls in some departments especially residents and house officers in surgery departments. That I can tell you confidently.

Yes, consultants won't come for the entire 72hrs, but on the roster they are call for that 72hr period. The residents, house officers and medical officers are the ones on their feet for 3 days.

If not for the fact that being a doctor is in high demand, and unemployment is lower, many doctors would have quit medicine long ago and transitioned to Tech or business because the job will put food on your table and work you like a donkey but not make you wealthy. God knows I was considering quitting the profession last year due to frustration.

I wish I could show you what they proposed paying.

They suggested the sum of, I kid you not the sum of 1600-7700 naira per 8hrs of call(NOT PER HOUR). They also proposed that they will only pay up to 5units/ 40hrs of call.

If nigeria pays by the hour like abroad, instead of salary per month, although small, it would still be workable, meaning that the government will only be able to pay doctor for 2 calls days per month. Anything that want to happen due to lack of manpower can happen and it won't be the doctor's fault since he can't work for free.

Even a prostitute earns higher than what they want to pay a doctor for 8 hrs of call duty. They defined a unit of call as 8hrs of call duty.

Call duty is when a doctor is required to work for 24hrs or more.

In most government hospitals, the doctor will resume 8am do his/her Normal work while being on call, after he finishes his normal work, either goes to the emergency or wherever he is to do call till the next day. The next day, he reviews the patient's he saw during off hrs(4pm - till 8am next morning) after which he does the next day's work and goes home by 4pm the next day.
Only to come to work the next day. Very few hospitals offer the next day as off duty


Some departments even make doctors work 72-96hr calls.(coughs in surgery/neurosurgery department)

This is different from the normal Monday 8-4pm work.

Most doctors work from minimum of 3- 10 calls per month depending on how little the workforce is.

Also, the circular also said they can only work/pay for maximum of 5 units of calls per month. Meaning that they will only pay peanuts for 40 hrs.

Which employer won't exploit that?

They want to cut doctors' salaries plain and simple.

Alcohol is responsible for so many conditions once you turn 30. If it doesn't knock up your liver, it will knock up your heart, brain and kidneys too. It will also cost you your relationships with family, friends, colleagues and destiny helpers.

As a doctor, I will advise abstinence but since that cannot apply to everybody. Then the next best thing is to drink it moderately.

It is recommended that men and women should not drink more than 14 units of alcohol PER WEEK.

But what is a unit of alcohol?
It depends actually. It a standardized measurement of how much alcohol is in a beverage.

1 glass bottle of beer contains 3 units of alcohol.
1 bottle of red/white wine (four cousins) with 12% volume has 9 units of alcohol.
1 bottle of absolut vodka or Gordon's dry gin containing 40% alcohol has 28 units of alcohol.
1 small sachet of action bitters contains 2 units

So if your body can take it, no more than

7 sachet of action bitter per week (less for women)
3-4 bottles of beer per week.(less for women)
1 bottle of absolut vodka should last you at least 2 weeks or more, not in a single sitting.(less for women)
7 sachet of action bitters or best cream or erujeje (less for women/ you get the idea)

It is also important to note that there must be alcohol free days in this week of staying within your limits.

Anything more than this and it is very likely that you have alcohol dependency problems.

My two cents.

I am tired to treating people with knocked up livers, kidneys, hearts and brains and leaving some of them to die lonely and miserable because they can't afford better opportunities like a liver or kidney transplant.
