Thanks GAZZUZZ. Car isn't in Lagos, any basic thing I can start wit like ow do I know if the exhaust is leaking plus what to do to the idle issue. dunno if the fuel usage has increased, only symptom is the loud engine note on depressing the throttle. thanks in advance |

Pls help wit fixes for a friend's 03 matrix wit the following engine codes....p0128,0420, and 0511 NB:Kazeem already removed thermostat and fan wire connected directly. cant seem to unconvince the person to refix it |
GAZZUZZ:Buh if na u, I gat no fear na ) |
GAZZUZZ:Oga GAZZUZZ, u be chairman here na, it sudnt be a problem for ppl like u to deal wit unless there's more to what u av said? |
Its actually a wonderful car from what i av read abt it, then again the manual transmission version is said to be stronger which sud fall within ur budget, Also avoid our local Kazeems as theyre the major reasons for many ppl's problem wit the car once they lay their hands on it. U can search for 'sienna golf 4 nairaland' on google and it wud bring out Siena's previous comment on the golf 4 here. |
Move this thread to the cartalk section if u want ppl to comment as this is the wrong sectuon |
Ow abt a review of the 2nd generation audi a4 esp the non turbo engines, that car is a beauty to behold and has top marks for that, would u say the same concerning its reliability and performance |
@Decotech U know ow aving a budget alone works here, there are over 10 suvs he cud get for that amount. From the 1st generation rav 4 and crv to a 98/99 forerunner/pathfinder 99/00 mazda tribute or ford escape to the mitsubishi outlander to the Hyundai santa fe and so on and so forth. I'm sure somebody else wud still av some I av not included. Still boils down to the OP preference, his terrain/need for a large suv or a small one and so on |
To get ppl to respond to u here, u av to be specific abt certain things like the kind of area u stay in, what ur maintenance culture is like, do u av a favorite model of car or particular year of production, also when u say family use, ow many ppl do u expect to fit into it, what kinda business runs ie long distance travels or haulage. Hope av bin able to shed some light |
Thanks Lomomike, very much appreciated |
@Lomomike thanks. I'm still curious about ow the maintenance and reliability was for ur qx 4 plus the loud engine sound that occurs after a while wit that partucular suv and its sibling the pathy. thanks in adv |
lomomike:@Lomomike ow was the pathfinder like in terms of maintenance and repairs. also noticed this old volvo like engine note on some pathfinders, any reason why. kinda prefer it to the forerunner of the same year |
Really appreciate ur contribution @Fran6u. Gud to av someone wit a 1st hand positive review of a german car |
if idling isnt good then and all one needs to do is drive off immed after ignition and be gentle on the throttle at first, what sort of maintenance would u advice then in terms of oil change and interval, plug renewal interval and any other as the case may be |
[quote author=CityNG post=29313845]OP, if you value your engine and want it to last then DO NOT idle your car. It's one of the worst thing that you can do to your engine. Once you start the engine, proceed to drive right away but DO NOT race the engine or put it under high load until it is fully warmed up. For the scenario that you described you may not be able to avoid sludge but I assure you dealing with sludge ri far more cheaper than idling your engine for extended period when cold. If you care I can expand on the reasoning behind not racing your engine.[/quote I don't mind and am sure would be very beneficial to all |
Thanks @Gazzuzz, I once heard that allowing ur car to stay on while idle for more than a few mins does more damage than good? |
Bin wondering the effect of short driving distance on a car, seen people who drive less than 3km round trip in a day (i.e 1.5km to work in the morning and same distance back home in the evenin) and wonder if cars are made to cope with such and if no, what measures can be put in place to prolong the engine life. |
Thanks @Oluwaseunla, really detailed contribution on the primera. also heard abt the npoc uk and the cvt in the primera buh I'm more or less a manual person so that's avoidable. thanks once again |
@Siena Happy to see u here. i av read about ur golf 4 reviews here and I must say they av bin very educative, know u not to be a jap person buh wondering if u wud av somfin to say abt the p11 seeing it's also available in the uk |
Is it that only few people know abt this 2 cars or just cos its not honda or toyota *sadface* |
CityNG:lol @CityNG, but why would u say such. U neva can tell who woud learn from u |
BTT:Ok |
BTT:Thanks for the contribution |
Thanks a lot @gambus007 |
gambus007:Thanks Are its parts readily available too? Trying to run away from anything toyota cos he doesn't wanna follow typical naija stereotypes and he has btw 800 to 900k to spend |
Over 100 views and just 2 contributors, who do I appease to get more contributions oooo |
@ expert101, can u state what ur reasons for running away is |
Thanks @Autobay, tdi means diesel I guess? @Lomomike, siena, gazzuzz, cityng etc i await ur valued contribution. Also current or past Golf 4 and primera owners, pls what's ur experience so far |
A friend of mine is torn between this two choices, would like honorable members to help make a choice in terms of availability of parts, mechanics, and hands on experience with either car. I'd say I prefer the golf
|
@Olanshi ow much? |
Bring this thread back to life oooooo |
