Good day,

Yes some universities will accept you directly into the PhD program with non-thesis master especially if the Phd program is course based. Also, if the non-thesis graduate applicant can demonstrate some verifiable research experience he/she will Ben taken in most universities irrespective of the thesis/non-thesis master.

The essence of thesis based, is for the students to gain some research experience that will prepare such student for doctoral research.

By this time of the year, I doubt the chances of getting admitted for FALL 2018. You can plan for next admission session after FALL 2018. Or you visit your school of interest website to be sure.

McGill have contacted undergraduate Scholars weeks back. Unfortunately, no Nigerians made the undergraduate list.

Some Postgraduate applicant have been rejected last week, and they're making final decisions by this Wednesday.

MasterCard Foundation Scholarships at UBC were out last week Fri 6th April and all applicants both successful and unsuccessful were notified by email. They took only 15 scholars to the program at UBC.
Check your emails either in the "Primary column" or the "Updates column" of your emails.
Congrats to all those who were successful and for those who were not, ensure you try again this year for 2019/20 academic year.

They're all PG applicant, and were contacted for both admission and Scholarship(Faculty of Forestry) . Some friends that already got admission (Faculty of Land and Food system) were contacted for Scholarship

My Current Research: Highly Flexible Supercapacitor Fabrication for Energy Storage

The rapid increase in the global energy consumption and the environmental impact of traditional energy resources has led to tremendously increased research activities on clean and renewable energy sources recently. As these new energy forms are intermittent or regionally limited (e.g., water), there is a pressing need to develop advanced energy storage systems, such as supercapacitors, for efficient storage of electrical energy at all scales ranging from solar through wind farms to wearable electronics.

My team: Myself (Supervisor), 3 PhD students, 6 undergraduate students

Funding: Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and Cyprus Science University Campus Research Funding

Funding amount and duration: 10,000 USD (6 months timeline)

Electrode and Electrolyte Materials: Electrode materials will be fabricated from waste chewing gum and electrolyte from extracted cassava or irish potatoes.

Applications
The supercapacitor will be applied for energy storage in a small-scale in applications Including transport, stationary, flexible, wearable and micro-supercapacitors.

Publication: Outcome will be published in quality Journals of Power sources, Energy Chemistry etc and presented at international conferences.
