Hi, if you can get your updated transcript. I would say you apply. Some of the requirements are relative and that should not serve as rule of thumb. Just be guided that your transcript will be calculated using your last 2 to 3 yrs in school. (last 2yrs if your program is 4yrs and last 3yrs if your program is 5yrs). That being said, it's important to know if your CGPA will still meet the nomination requirements (without your last transcript). Goodluck iamElgee: hello good day house. please i need your help. i am a final year undergraduate with my final exams coming in november and graduation in view by decemeber... my question is can i still apply for the mc gill mastercard scholarship; seeing as one of the requirements is having an undergraduate degree??

Congratulations. Barka Lahu Fih Daringtohope: I posted my transcript about F2 visa rejection in Lagos a couple of weeks ago. I decided to reapply immediately, and I was able to get a date in Abuja. The screening process was quite long and tedious compared to Lagos. Also, my baby was a bit restless, so I kept moving back and it took a while for my turn. This is the transcript of the interview as I can remember it;
VO: Good afternoon.
Me: Good afternoon Ma.
VO: Pass me your passport.
I gave her our passports and I-20s. She took her time to go through the I-20 and typed for a while.
VO: Where is husband studying?
Me: He is studying Molecular Biology in the University of ABC.
VO: How long have you been married?
Me: We have been married for 4 years it will be 5 years in a few months.
VO: How many children do you have?
Me: We have one child.
VO: Has he visited since he left?
Me: Yes, he visited us in August of last year.
VO: I can see that there is a shortfall in the living expenses on the I-20, how do you pay the rest?
Me: My husband has full funding and we have some personal savings.
She excused herself and left the cubicle with the passport and I-20 for about 5 minutes. While she was away, I was worried that maybe she was not convinced about the funding. Therefore, when she came back, I quickly said;
Me: I have the funding letter from his school here, would you like to see it?
VO: That wouldn’t be necessary (while smiling).
VO: Was he working before he left for the United States?
Me: He was working as a lecturer, and he is currently on study leave.
VO: What will you be doing in the U.S?
Me: I will be busy raising my child as well as providing physical and emotional support for my husband.
VO: Have you traveled before?
Me: No, I have not had a reason to travel.
VO: Do you or your husband have any relatives in the United States?
No: We don’t have any relatives in the U.S.
VO: I will be approving your visa. Please excuse me I need to get a document for you.
Me: Thank you Ma. (I few tears of joy rolled down from my eyes.)
She left and came back with a document containing instruction for student visa applicants stating that students are only allowed to enter U.S 30 days before the start of the program and not after the start date on the I-20. It also contains a reminder to take along and present I-20 at the port of entry.
I give all praises and thanks to Almighty Allah. I prayed fervently, did several mock interviews, and prepared written answers to likely questions. I big thank you to everyone on this thread. I learned a lot from here. By the way, I use full hijab that covers me from head to toe. I hope this will encourage and be useful for someone. |

Humbleefe: Greetings to everyone in the house, any update from those that got McGill nomination with regards to admission This varies by department. Some department might get back to you on admission by January ending, while some department will not grant admission unless Mastercard confirms the scholarship. Usually (not always), Mastercard decision should roll in starting from March. Good luck guys, I hope to welcome you to Montreal in August 2019. |

McGill is a research institution, so Thesis or Non-thesis, You will still do some research. It's a non-thesis means that you're not obliged to produce a THESIS. (Depending on your program, you will likely do Internship and Project) fatsonm: Thanks ...
I noticed it is a non-thesis masters.... Does it mean it doesn't involve research work? Is it a Msc(hons) or Msc ?

Frankrobbn1: This is an irony of the whole matter. Sure! I know of an applicant who sent CSE to London office in respect to his online application but to his greatest surprise it was Lagos immigration office that replied his query. But, that doesn't implies that it's lagos that processing the applicant application. The Lagos visa office is more like a middle man here that replies to prospective applicants querieman
I'm anxiously waiting to see which of the two visa offices that will issue the Visa counterfoil at last. I still repeat, Lagos VISA office is now processing study permit application.. My study permit was issued in Nigeria (Lagos). and I submitted ONLINE Peace. |

Frankrobbn1: Previously some online applications were treated in Turkey and Dubai. But, currently all online applications are treated at the London visa office. In the aspect of comparison between Kenya and London. I would better go for a route that is fast in giving out reponse, so that if eventually my application gets refused, I can quickly pick up my file, re-strategies and reapply rather than going for a route that will take the whole time on earth (9weeks-15weeks) to process my visa and at the end it turns out unsuccessful which could be very traumatizing and frustrating.
As always said by me, no route is best!! Sir, contrary to the bolded part above, some online application (study permit) are now being processed at the Lagos VISA office... |

HotMayo: good morning everyone. glad to be here. I'm a relatively new Ph.D student, 2017/18 session. I'm full time, I've got no job yet. I would appreciate links to local scholarship schemes please. I ran my MSc without a scholarship because I didn't know there were any until my classmates started cashing out, lol. I want to lessen the burden for my parents this time around please.... and I'm female. thanks in advance I hope to learn some other things from the thread and contribute to it as time passes I think you should start by contacting Supervisor in your intended School/Country. And see if there's a match. There's always funding for PhD than M.Sc. Although you may need to write some exams like GRE, TOEFL, etc. But I advise you jump on Internet and do some search. You may also consider Commonwealth PhD Scholarship, Trudeau Foundation Scholarship in Canada, and Vanier Graduate Scholarship in Canada. All the best sis. |

optimistic1: please for those that would be studying at quebec ( University of concordia or mcgill). When applying for CAQ is it necessary to provides account statement showing funds. No, just state your tuition fee, start and end date, etc. I don't even think there's a space to provide it on CAQ website. They ain't the one to verify your eligibility as regards fund et al. IRCC will do that. Goodluck |

To get a supervisor isn't just easy and not so difficult. I'll advise you show a strong motivation for research when contacting any Professor, attach your CV, transcript, and state what you want from them. Contact them through LinkedIn too. If your research interests align with them, they will respond. Also, some schools allow you to apply for admission without getting supervisor 1st, read through the website and be sure. Lastly, diversify your chances. Goodluck. Kinfinity007: Why is it so difficult to get MSc. Chemistry in Canada as a Nigerian?
No supervisor is interested in working with me, I graduated with a 4.10GPA, I need your advice!! |

Ogedadiva: May I please ask a question, I just received my CAQ from Quebec to study in Concordia university for postgraduate studies. However, considering the the time frame for visa processing, we are thinking of deferring the admission. In this case, please do I still go ahead and submit my application for visa and write to the school. Is it also possible to attach my deferral letter after I have submitted my visa application. Good job, you guys are doing over here. I think you should write to Concordia to give you a new admission letter since you will defer the admission, then apply for your study permit with the new admission letter. Goodluck |
