Hi All,
I submitted my study permit application without police clearance report because the firm I used said it was't needed. Please has anyone gotten approval without submitting police clearance or can one be denied on that?
Thank you,
Awaiting a response
I know someone that got approval without Police Clearance Certificate. I don't think it's a compulsory document.

Can some one kindly help.me review this above "statement" in reference to my low grade in French Language.

Dear Admission committee.

The reason for my low grade in French Language is due to the fact that i'm a Nigerian, Although English is the Language of instruction in (name of my sch).I can't write nor speak french Language fluently, however this consequently resulted to my low grade in French Language.

I hope i composed this statement properly. If not. I beg of you all. kindly help do so. I'll appreciate you all
Hello,

I will not advise you use the above as a justification for your low grade in French.

The above reason definitely means that you can't survive/learn other people's culture and languages. Taking into consideration that Canada have some French speaking cities.

The question below might be the issue from admission committee

1. Were you not taught the French?
2. If you can't cope with French, how would you cope with other people's languages. (with the reason stated above).
3. Assuming you find yourself in Germany or other countries not directly speaking English, how will you survive?
4. Assuming your School is in Quebec Province of Canada, then how do you cope?.

And many others.

Rather, I'll suggest you find a better convincing reason for your low marks in French., Perhaps you can still tel them you didn't have access to many French textbook, the lecturer didn't make it lively, to initiate your interest to that foreign language, etc.

Please note: This is my own personal opinion/advice, and not a general reflection.

Above all, I wish you the best.

Cheers.

Please i need a response from someone who might have had expericence with approving or denying a canada TRV at the VFS.. i applied with my wife and infant! Months after, we received a message that in reference of our application a decision has been made, and we need to come with our passport to finalize our application processing. We had gone again to sumbit our passport to them, but some staffs in there were congratulating us.. Please, does this actually mean we are approved for visa, and they are going to stamp it.. I guess, if we were refused they shouldn't have asked us to submit our passport.. plesse enlighten !

With this your great profile, why not focus your search to USA? Atleast to secure some funds?.

Well, as regards Canada Study Permit, Write a very convincing SOP and you will be very good to go. Your 1st M.Sc should not serve as a barrier if your SOP is convincing enough.

I still advise you consider USA in future so this great GRE Score and research experience don't just waste.

Best wishes.
DLNEY:
Hello everyone,
I joined this thread through the recommendation of a friend who got her TRV with the help of you guys and God.

I'm a newbie and its quite complicated. I have read the line of thought from Part 8 till now and I want the GURUS to please comment.

I have a masters degree (Distinction) (2016) and a B.Sc. (2.1) in Genetics, a couple of publications, passed GRE (320/340)and TOEFL, had interships with some federal research institutes too. Tried to secure both Ph.D. and M.Sc. Admission (with scholarship) to no avail. Finally decided to apply to a micro-program in Neuroscience (neurogenetics) in U of Montreal. I got the admission (Winter 2019). I applied for the micro-program because I dont have enough money to pay for the Masters Program.

With all the emphasis laid on the progression of studies, I am really really scared that this might be a major mess on my application.

Can I hide the M.Sc. certificate, even though U of M knows that I have an M.Sc. degree?

So here I am esteemed gurus, I am determined to make the app work and all comments and suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

I plan to apply next month but first the big question: BASED ON YOUR EXPERIENCES (THE GURU'S) IS IT DOABLE?

please which schools can I apply for in USA or Canada
I think you should focus your search more to USA (So your GRE can be useful), start with Google, and search for Prof/School that merge your research interest. You may check for Tennessee State University, Cleveland, Colorado, Texas A&M, etc.

For Canada, you can apply to University of Saskatchewan. They have some cool fundings. Although GRE isn't a requirement for most admission in Canada, especially if you've done some Calculus or statistics at your UG level.

Best wishes.

Hello Aunty,

At this stage of your career (prospective PhD student), you're the only one that can assist yourself. You can only seek for guidance here, so people won't look down on you.

If I may advice, please jump on internet and look for Supervisor/Schools that merge your research interests and pick it up from there.

Good luck

I think you need to just reply that you're interested in his research 1st. Convince him why you're suitable for his research lab, and He should talk about funding in his response (If Available or not). If he didn't say anything as regards it, then discuss about chances of being accepted for GA or RA in your next response. Best wishes

I sent a mail to a Prof at Morgan State Uni informing him that I have been accepted to a PhD program in the school and interested in his research.

He sent me the list of projects he is currently working on in his lab and said he will take one or two students to work with him.

I want to reply his email that I am interested in his project. Do I need to ask for funding (RA or GA) in my response cos the graduate school and my department have not said anything concerning funding?

How do I frame the response so that he will have an idea that I need funding?

Help my matter

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by drhammed: 6:37pm On Jun 17, 2018
You have above average results which qualifies you for admission anywhere. I'm afraid the problem might be from your Personal Statement or SOP as they might have required. Be guided that graduate admissions is more than Grade alone, they also take into consideration of your Personal Statement, SOP, CV, research experience, etc.

I may advise you write a very convincing statement next time, stating how you're suitable for the graduate studies and wait for admission approval in no time.

Best wishes.

Hi everyone! I don't know how to start but I will somehow.

I've seen people here get admissions into Canadian Unis be it for BSc, MSc or Certification programs. Some eventually get TRVs, some denied.

However, my own case has been rather worse. I've been denied admission 3 times: 2 by Uni of Saskatchewan and one by Uni of Manitoba.

Just for information, I graduated with a 2,1 in Biochemistry in one of Nigerian fed Unis. Had 98 in TOEFL (even when it is not needed most the Unis).

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Difference between Bsc (Hons) and Bsc

1. Three years are needed to complete a Bsc degree, and four years for the completion of a Bsc (Hons) degree.

2. The Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree is considered to be superior to the Bachelor of Science degree.

3. The Bsc (Hons) is considered to be, academically, more standard than the ordinary Bsc degree.

4. A student will have to write a dissertation for the completion of a Bsc (Hons) degree. On the other hand, this is not mandatory for a Bsc degree.

Write a letter to the Registrar, tell him or her you need a letter to attest that your Bachelors degree was instructed in English. And attach a photo copy of your certificate with the letter

Most require, I haven't seen any that don't. I'm applying to 3 schools and I'm trapped because I don't have any English test.
I don't think most schools in Canada require test of English Proficiency. well, McGill, UBC that I know so well doesn't require proficiency in English from Nigerians. I'll advise you check with that school and request for a waiver, perhaps they can ask for a letter from your school to attest that your former degree was conducted in English

Good day to you guys, I'm new on this thread,I'm interested in applying for a masters degree in Agricultural Economics & Extension for my Master Degree. I graduated with a GPA of 4.22/5.0 in Agricultural Economics as well,a GRE of 290 and a TOEFL of 102. Please what's my chance of getting an admission to a reputable school for my Master's Degree in Canada. Please kindly help me out. I need your help.
Your profile will secure admission in any top ranking University in Canada. I'd recommend you start by checking University of Saskatchewan (As they have a funding, that can covers full tuition). With your CGPA, you will gain admission even in McGill and UBC. Your GRE score isn't needed like that in Canada. Unless you're extending your search to USA (Which in your case, you may need to write it again to meet at least 300 scores).

hello people, please I need help, I am a graduate of English and Education but I want to do my MSC in something pertaining to Human relation, is this possible, please tell me my chances
If your course in Human relation is inter/multidisciplinary, I see nothing stopping you. Write a well convincing SOP to suit your interests. Articulate all point why you want to use your background in English to pursue a career in Human Relation.

If you're not qualified from start, I believe the school won't give you M.Sc admission, rather tell you to do PGD in that program. Left to you now is to show commitment to returning back to your home country, and how the M.Sc will impact your professional/Academic goal.

Best wishes.

Sir, if your last 2 or 3yrs is above average, send your TRANSCRIPT not only your Certificate to them, alongside your CV, with a well detailed Personal Statement.

Although I don't have list of schools that can take that GRADE, but I know less competitive schools like MUN, PEI may work.

Let your Personal Statement and CV explains you better, list all your publications (if any), convince the admission committee. They check more than grade to granting Graduate admission.

N.B: If none of those schools is ready to take you for a direct M.Sc, please go ahead for PGD.. Argue your point in your SOP. Your grade can't be a barrier to your Academic excellence.

Best wishes.

Then I will advise you to apply for MSc instead of PGD, though your undergraduate grade is not great but you can make up with your 13 years experience. Also most schools focus on your final 2 semesters in school(BSc).
Still search for schools that will offer you masters(trust me you will find some) cos with your level of experience I think the vo won't buy the idea of you going for PGD.
I guess you meant to say last 2yrs? No school will consider last 2semesters alone but consider last 2yrs of a 4yrs program and last 3yrs of a 5yrs program.
