The moment you declare required funds for your study, it means those funds are available at the time you applied, during and after your visa application. Whether you chose to withdraw funds or not, it is your call. IRCC will assume funds are available and can at any point request you either reprint an updated SOA or pay a year fees. If you do not meet up such request, it is a straight refusal on insufficient funds.

Asking whether they find out account balance or not shouldn't be a thing of interest if funds are truly for study. Truth is, IRCC can proceed as they deem fit under the regulatory laws. The moment you claim you have XYZ amount of money AVAILABLE for study for a year, you must have it. The Canadian visa officers are very unpredictable. There is no rule of thumb or guidance on how the ascertain funds are truly available as declared by applicant but trust me,if they find out funds are not available(applicant not meeting a request regarding further convictions on available funds etc), the ramification is dire. it will be concluded as misrepresentation.

My advise to folks is always to ensure declared funds are available until a final decision is made on their application.

I Still strongly believe that doesn't mean applicants can't add more money and withdraw money after applying. (For as long as the needed amount is maintained).

Well, you can state in your SOP that the US university admission time frame came at a time you were busy with some stuffs. And even at that Canada has always been your choice cuz of its multicultural environment. (US is multi too,but na choice )
Tell them the course module is a perfect match for you.

You can add affordablility as well , that your Canadian school is affordable and yet maintaining standard .

Other experienced gurus can help you better sir.

To add to the post above. You could as well state why that course/Institution will assist you in reaching your long-term career and professional goals. Perhaps, that school might be a leading University in research pertaining to your field, or a Prof is there that has significant contributions to your field, and that you would love to work with.

Do well to research on what the course have to offer, the staffs, laboratories or research institute, Internship placement offers, etc, and tailor it to your goals.

Why are you bothered about removing , when you can also add more money to your account. If your account is a busy one, even if you removed 1m for something urgent and later 1.5m is returned, you shouldn't have any problem with the Embassy.

This is a flawed argument because the embassy is not your client. What you are committing is fraud and the bank has the right to protect their brand.

With due respect, does that mean one should be tied down just because of VISA application? I'll have to put on hold all other expenses, won't be able to withdraw cash, and continue my living while waiting for decision? I'm not getting the exact point you're making here.

No. Embassy people ain't as this wicked. I bet they have better means to verify than all money should remain there. I don't think anyone here's working directly with embassy, and everything here is just a speculation.

I see nothing wrong if people ask to know this, fine some will be on fraud reason, and some will ask with a plain heart. Whatever the case may be, be guided that they can verify the information elsewhere outside this forum, and not ideal putting ALL laws into our hands.

1)Can I be able to switch from undergraduate to master's when I get to canada?

Instead of starting another UG course, I'd advise you apply for a PGD, after which you progress to a proper M.Sc.

Please while filling out the questionaire on CIC after opening an account with them, i came accross a question about work experience. They asked if work experience is an essential part of my study. I answered YES because the master of public health program at UAlberta has a compulsory field practiccum where students will have to go work in a public health setting to gain hands-on experience. After the whole questionaire thingy, they added that i upload a letter from my school confirming this or i upload my program curriculum to confirm this. Please am i on the right path with this?

Yes, you're on the right track. Send an email to your department to give you a letter to upload on CIC website.

It will be an attestation letter that you have been admitted to a program where a project/ Co-op work is mandatory.

If you have lived outside your home country for period of 6 months and above. You're expected to specify them and select YES. If you haven't the answer is NO. The question is simply asking for your Travel history.

With this your CGPA and a better CV, PS, I believe you should be accepted in a Canadian University.

Unless the course you intend to do isn't directly related, I see no reason going for PGD when you have above average result.

Be guided that most schools take into account of your academic transcript and not just only final CGPA.

Be sincere with yourself, you were not granted the visa!!! Definitely, that’s “Visa refusal ”

If you are not refused the visa, why didn’t you have the visa sticker inside your passport ?

I could see that, many people always afraid to state that they were once refused/denied a visa before while applying for another visa. You cannot be denied visa because of your previous refusal from other embassies.

I have once been in a situation like this where I applied for a visa and the embassy never got back to me for more than 4 months of application, then I sent them an email to know my status where I was told that my application wasn’t successful. I asked this embassy the reason, but surprisingly, “No reason was given”. However, I always state this henceforth whenever am applying for any visa as “ Visa refusal with no reason “ .... This has never affected me any way with the rest of my visa applications as have been successful with them all.

My advice, this is obviously a Visa refusal, you don’t have to have stamp or letter before you could believe this. Not all embassies stamp visa denial on passport. So, it is better for you to tick YES, and explain it further as “Visa refusal without reasons”

Im not afraid of telling them, if truly I was denied. That can't and won't affect my application. God's grace.

If South Africa VO is denying VISA, they state the reason for such in a separate sheet. In my case they didn't give any reason. Why would I say it's refusal when I have everything to proof myself.

It's better to play safe that's my main concern. Anyway! You've point sometimes if applicant application is wrongly filled, not properly signed as expected or submitted close to date of resumption the embassy returns back the applicant app without processing it.

Everything was complete then and legit. I could remember there was a public holiday around that time, hence it might be a major issue for the delay.

Sadly, they hardly reply to emails. One would have clarify this.

Don't you think ticking "NO" is risky here?. Considering the fact that applicant application was delayed and returned back to him.
The applicant can still tick "YES" and quote the date of the refusal, this should be better than ticking "NO" even though there wasn't a refusal letter in the sealed envelope that was returned to him.

Sir, like I said they didn't send me refusal letter and passport not stamped. Why tick YES? I'm Kinda confused..

It seems to me that the time for your conference elapsed before the South African visa to attend the conference that you applied for could be processed. So it seems the embassy never acted on your application and returned it to you. If that is the case, I would say you have not been denied a visa and your answer should be “No.”

Thank you for the prompt response. I applied for the SA VISA on 24 November 2017. The normal processing time is 7 working days. The conference was 6-10 December, 2017.

They sent back my passport to VFS on 7 December 2017.

Sir, please I also need urgent help as I'm about to submit my online application for Canadian study permit.

I applied last year for South Africa Conference VISA, but was delayed till I missed the program. When they sent my parcel back, there was no stamp and no rejection letter whatsoever (In the decision sheet).

My question is this: What should I say when asked whether have been refused visa before on the study permit application portal.


PS: I have all documents to back up my claims.

As you may be aware, application for FALL 2018 has ended already. Then you may consider applying for FALL 2019, which will open in September 2018.

1. For you to be considered for McGill Mastercard Scholarship (M.Sc) , you must be nominated by any eligible department. (Check previous page of this thread, I uploaded list of department participating in this program sometimes late last year).

2. Contact the department and they will advise you to apply for admission, and will nominate you for scholarship.

3. MasterCard will review the documents of ALL nominated and admitted candidates around March/April.
