APC will be very happy because FFK left them to PDP. And PDP made one of their greatest mistake by appointing him to the campaign team of GEJ almost immediately after leaving APC. Politically whoever is dealing with FFK must be very careful. Rumor has it that FFK visited Jagaban in his house at night during the electioneering https://www.nairaland.com/2178857/fani-kayode-sneaks-into-tinubu lalasticlala |
For publicly criticising the leadership of his party and calling on members of the National Working Committee, NWC, to resign following the dismal performance of the party in the last general elections, former Aviation Minister and Director Of Media of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, may be expelled from the party. An indication to this emerged Wednesday when the NWC of the party, after a meeting held in Abuja, asked Osun State chapter of the party to investigate Fani-Kayode’s membership status and determine whether he is a registered and financial member or a usurper. The NWC decision which was communicated to the chairman of the party in Osun through a letter signed by the National Secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo, also directed the local chapter to take proper discplinary action against Fani- Kayode for mounting press war against the NWC. “If he is a registered and financial member, proper disciplinary actions should be meted against him through the ward for engaging in actions contrary to Section 58 (1) (b) of the PDP Constitution. If not a member, you should regard him as a usurper,” the letter read. In a swift reaction, Fani-Kayode, who has remained recalcitrant over threats to expel him from the party, said he is a Nigerian and has the right to state his case. “I am a Nigerian, I have the right to state my case, I am not the first to say they should resign. Did they ask Fayose to be disciplined in his comment? Did they ask the Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu, to be reprimanded for his comments? Did they ask that Sule Lamido should be reprimanded for his comments? Clearly, when I said it, somebody listened and the chairman stepped down. Now, I am saying once again that the most important thing for us to do as a party is to ensure that every single one of them goes. “I have been a federal minister under the PDP on two occasions, I have been spokesman to President Olusegun Obasanjo for three years for the PDP, I have been spokesman for the presidential campaign of President Goodluck Jonathan for the PDP and it is absurd for anybody to question my loyalty to the PDP simply because I said that they should resign. They have a lot of questions to answer.” He further stated: “I am delighted for the fact that the national chairman of the party has resigned almost six or seven hours after I made a call for that. I am not the only one who made the call so it reflects the feeling of a large number of people; the overwhelming majority of the party. But truly, there are many to go. “We also call for the resignation of the entire National Working Committee and we sincerely hope that they will take a cue from there and do the honourable thing like the chairman and step down, that is the first thing. “Not only that they have cheated their own party members, they have lied, collected money from various people in order to win the primaries, they have provided an absurd leadership. Most of us are fed up with this.” http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/05/21/pdp-to-expel-fani-kayode/

Youth set suspect’s family house ablaze FROM GEORGE ONYEJIUWA,OWERRI Tragedy struck yesterday at Ubomiri community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State when a 20-year-old girl allegedly stabbed her undergraduate lover to death with a kitchen knife in their house. The suspect, Chisom Anyanwu who is a student of Akwakuama Girls Secondary School, Owerri had allegedly killed his lover, who visited her following an argument. The deceased, simply identified as Apo, aged 28, an undergraduate and a native of Egbeada also in Mbaitoli council area had paid an unscheduled visit to his girlfriend at their family house at about noon yesterday. However, it was learnt that trouble started between the two lovers when the suspect who was cooking, did not take kindly to the deceased’s unscheduled visit to her family house. The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party Youth Leaders Forum has asked the party’s supporters to pray and fast in order for the governorship petition of the party to be favourably considered by the Election Petitions Tribunal. The group also called on its supporters to come forward with information and documents to strengthen the petition of its governorship candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje. The Publicity Secretary of the group, Mr. Abiodun Abari, who addressed journalists on Monday, said through fasting and praying, “Agbaje’s stolen mandate would be retrieved.” The group condemned the impeachment of the Chairman of the PDP, Capt. Tunji Shelle (retd.), describing it as a distraction. It urged the party members and supporters to channel their energies towards ensuring victory for Agbaje and the two senatorial candidates of the party, Segun Adewale of the Lagos-West senatorial district and Chief Olabisi Salis of Lagos-East senatorial district. While restating its support for Shelle, the group warned that it would resist any attempt to undermine the peace and unity of the party, adding that it was confident that the party would emerge victorious at the tribunal. Abari said, “We condemn the way and manner the aggrieved persons rushed to the press without exploring available options to resolve their grievances internally. We urge all the aggrieved parties to maintain the status quo in the interest of peace and the sensitivity of the period. “We urge our teeming youths to remain calm and focused in retrieving our mandate despite the confusion which we see as the agenda of the opposition. For our candidates to have put up such a performance in the face of institutionalised collusion between the Independent National Electoral Commission and the opposition to rig in favour of the latter is heroic and unprecedented. “The silence resulting from the sham elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos is palpable. Hence, we urge all party supporters to support the party’s cause at the tribunals by providing documents, evidence, and of course through prayer and fasting so that we can retrieve our various stolen mandate.” http://www.punchng.com/politics/tribunal-pdp-youths-urge-fasting-prayer-for-agbaje/

I am not surprised with Osoba but Gbenga Daniel will surprise me more if this later becomes reality . Anyway in politics the constant thing is permanent interest not permanent friends. lalasticlala |
There are strong indications that former Governors of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, and Otunba Gbenga Daniel and their supporters are heading back to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Daniel and his supporters defected from APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2015 general elections. Osoba was a founding father of the APC but a disagreement with Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosu, also of the APC, and the inability of the national leadership of the APC to settle the quarrel led to his moving to the SDP with his supporters. He also alleged marginalisation of his group by the national leadership of APC as the reason for the defection. Osoba and his group contested and lost the last election on the platform of the SDP, though there were several last minute moves to reconcile with the APC. P.M.NEWS reliably gathered that the reconciliation moves have been revived and delegations from the APC have met twice with Osoba in his Abeokuta home to ensure his return to the party. Sources close to the two time former Governor of the Gateway State confirmed to P.M.NEWS that the first delegation led by the National Deputy Chairman of the APC and former Governor of Ekiti State, Engineer Segun Oni, met with Osoba immediately after the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Abeokuta. “I was with oga (Osoba) and the delegation led by Engineer Oni came. They told him to come back to the fold. They even wanted him to withdraw the SDP candidates from the governorship and state assembly elections. However, he stated that inasmuch as he will want to return, he cannot withdraw the SDP candidates from the election at this eleventh, noting that it will negatively affect his political status. He, however, stated that after the elections they can meet again,” our source said. After the governorship and state assembly elections, another delegation led by another former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi met with Osoba in his Abeokuta home and the subject of discussion was his return to APC. For now, Osoba is out of the country and our correspondent learnt that when he returns, further meetings on the reconciliation move will be held to cement the agreement. P.M.NEWS also learnt that Otunba Gbenga Daniel is also set to rejoin the APC fold. Daniel was a member of the Alliance for Democracy in 1999, but left to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to contest the 2003 election against Aremo Olusegun Osoba in Ogun State. In 2011, Gbenga Daniel founded the PPN to install his protégé, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka a.k.a. GNI, as his successor after irreconciliable differences with former President, Olusegun Obasanjo-led PDP. GNI, however, lost the election to present Governor Ibikunle Amosun. In the run-up to 2015 elections, Gbenga Daniel first held a long romance with Labour Party, LP, in Ogun State, then dumped it to join the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. But his association with PDP was soured by his frosty relationship with Prince Buruji Kashamu, who denied Gbenga Daniel the Senate ticket for Ogun East. Of recent, Daniel has been making moves to reconcile with APC leaders and was present at the wedding of Dele Alake’s son at the weekend. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/05/18/osoba-daniel-set-to-join-apc/

Africa and Commonwealth sprint champion, Blessing Okagbare, sign-posted what to expected at this year’s IAAF World Championship in Beijing, China when she won the Shanghai leg of the 2015 Diamond League yesterday. Okagbare did it easily, beating last year’s world leader, Tori Bowie, by almost a metre, 10.98 to 11.07. Jamaican Olympic champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce trailed home in fifth place. “My race was pretty good,” Okagbare said after the race. “It is not easy to compete with the best of the world – but I won. I focused on my start. Normally I don’t have the best start, but now I was leading from the beginning.” Barely a fortnight ago, Okagbare, led the Nigerian quartet of Regina George, Dominique Duncan and Christy Udoh, to win the 4x200m gold of the Bahamas Relay. Fraser-Pryce was not overly concerned with her 11.25 opener. “It was one of those races,” she said. “I have time to get it right.” Asked if she would now have her work cut out in defending her title in Beijing later in the year, Fraser-Pryce said: “I always have my work cut out. No one hands anything to you.” Jeff Henderson led the men’s long jump from the first round to the fifth, his 8.26m coming on his first attempt. Russian Long Jump star, Aleksandr Menkov, worked his way into contention, his winning jump coming in the fifth round. Both Chinese jumpers had their best efforts in the fourth round in a competition that swung any number of ways. Olympic champion Greg Rutherford finished seventh with 8.05m on his first-round attempt, his lowest placing in a final since July 2012. The remainder of his series was four fouls and a run-through 6.52m. Caterine Ibarguen led the women’s triple jump from start to finish, showing remarkable consistency early in unpredictable wind conditions – 14.68m, 14.70m, 14.68m and 14.71m on her first four jumps, before nearing her world lead with 14.85m in the fifth round. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/okagbare-takes-the-gold-in-shanghai/209625/

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, May 11, 2015 arraigned Uchenna Nwako, Ejikeme Oluchukwu, Nnamani Ikechukwu, Ibeh kodili Martins and Nwako Victoria Ifeoma before Justice D.V Agishir of the Federal High Court, Enugu, on a 16-count charge bordering on intent to defraud and obtaining N26,338,000 by false pretence. The five accused persons were picked up by EFCC operatives on February 27, 2013 after intelligence reports indicated that they were involved in fraudulent activities bordering on cybercrime. Part of the charge read: “That you Uchenna Nwako, Ejikme Oluchukwu, Nnamani Ikechukwu, Ibeh Kodili Martins and Nwako Victoria Ifeoma sometime in November 2012 in Enugu, Enugu State within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, conspired among yourselves to commit an unlawful act to wit: obtaining money by false pretense and thereby committed an offense contrary to Section 8(a) and punishable under section 1(3) of Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006. “That you Nwako Victoria Ifeoma and Uchenna Nwako on or about October 18, 2012 in Enugu, Enugu State within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, concealed and disguised the origin of the sum of N8,940,000 which is proceed of an unlawful activity by causing the said money to be paid into the Zenith Bank account number 1013144345 of Ifechina Enterprises Limited, a private limited company jointly owned by both of you, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 15(2) (a) and punishable under Section 15(3) of the Money Laundering Act , 2011 (As Amended).” They however, pleaded not guilty, when the charges were read to them. In view of their plea, the EFCC counsel, M. A. Ekwu, requested for a date to be fixed for trial of the accused persons to begin. Defence counsel, A. Oyenkwere, however requested bail for his clients, which was opposed by Ekwu. Ekwu argued that only Ikechukwu who had honoured the terms of the administrative bail deserved bail. Ikechukwu was thereafter granted bail in the sum of N1,000,000 with one surety who must be either a seasoned businessman that owns a landed property with a C of O, or a civil servant of Grade Level 15 or above. The case was adjourned till May 13, 2015 for consideration of the bail application of the other accused persons, who were ordered to be remanded in EFCC custody.
