AbdulRazaq, has denied issuing a statement saying that his administration would begin the implementation of the new minimum wage in October.

The governor countered the report in a statement obtained by Igbere TV on Thursday by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye.

He said the report was fake and should be disregarded by the public.

“The entire story is fake and should be disregarded. Our previous statements have made clear the position of the government on the minimum wage,” the statement said.

“Those behind the latest statement, which they signed with the name of the CPS, are dangerous purveyors of fake news who would be dealt with once identified.

“This development, the second in about three weeks, is the height of recklessness and we are again calling on the security agencies to get to the roots of this evil of fake news.”

Former Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF), Ufot Ekaette, has died aged 80.

Igbere TV reports that Ekaette served as principal secretary to former military head of state, Yakubu Gowon.

His time at the civil service saw him rise to the position of permanent secretary.

He was also the first minister of Niger Delta affairs.

President Muhammadu Buhari, in a statement on Thursday from New York where he is attending the United Nations General Assembly, expressed shock and grief over the death of the former SGF.

He described Ekaette as “a consummate administrator.”

Buhari also said that Ekaette “dedicated himself to duty in the course of his distinguished public service.”

The president in the condolence statement also extolled the late Ekaette “as a gentleman who had given his best in the service of his country.”

He added that “the late Ekaette would always be remembered not only for his remarkable public service record but also because of his immense contributions towards bringing peace in the once-troubled Niger Delta region.”

The statement said: “President Buhari, however, assured that ‘his contributions would never be in vain as the country would always appreciate and remember his great contributions.’

“The President prays God Almighty to comfort the Ekaette family, friends, and relations, and grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.”

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, said the present administration in the bid to sustain the rating of Abia as one of the safest states in the federation will be creating the Ministry Of Home Land Security to further attract investors and industrialists while the promotion of made in Aba, Abia and Nigeria goods will be given adequate patronage by encouraging artisans and SMEs to sustain the high quality of products to meet with international standard.

Sowore was granted bail by Justice Taiwo Taiwo on the condition that he deposits his international passport with the court and that he is produced whenever needed by his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN).

Details have emerged as to how pro-democracy campaigner and Convener of RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, found out that he had been granted bail on Tuesday by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Sowore was granted bail by Justice Taiwo Taiwo on the condition that he deposits his international passport with the court and that he is produced whenever needed by his lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN).

Speaking with Sahara Reporters at the facility of the Department of State Services where he is being held in Abuja, Sowore said, "On Tuesday morning, I was asked to dress up by men of the DSS in preparation for my arraignment.

"I got dressed and was ready to go to court but was left unattended to for several hours by the DSS with no communication as to the change in plans of the arraignment until evening when visitors came around and told me that I had been granted bail."

Sowore however, expressed skepticism on the will to carry out the court ruling by the Nigerian Government famed for disregarding court orders.

While thanking his supporters, he urged them not to relent in the demand for freedom and justice for every citizen arbitrarily detained by the Nigerian Government.

Sowore was arrested in Lagos on August 3, 2019 by operatives of the DSS for calling on Nigerians to pour out to the streets to express their anger at the poor state of governance in the country.

The management of Enugu Rangers International Football Club has entered into a multimillion naira contract with a world-class branding, development and management company, Desgraf & Mart Limited, granting it the exclusive right and license to use the Licenced Marks in the manufacture and distribution of Lotto Sportswear, football and other related items made in Italy, Igbere TV has learned.

Signing the 5-year renewable contract at the Club’s headquarters in Enugu, the General Manager/Chief Executive Officer, Prince Davidson Owumi, said that the whole essence was to bring the Rangers’ spirit close to every household in the country and beyond.

Disclosing that Rangers as a brand is a big name and the only club that has never been relegated in Nigeria, Barr. Amah maintained that “by this contract, we are setting a marker down in the football history of Nigeria”, saying: “We are calling on all good and willing sponsors to come and partner Rangers and advertise their products on this jersey”.

He said that the contract will benefit both parties, adding that there are performance obligations for both parties to fulfill in respect of the agreement reached.

Former Nigeria international, Samson Siasia, has called on the government to assist him in rescuing his kidnapped mother, Beauty Siasia.

Igbere TV recalls that Mrs Siasia, 76, was kidnapped on July 15 in Odoni community, Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

She had earlier been kidnapped in November 2015, spending 13 days with her kidnappers until a ransom of about N600,000 was allegedly paid.

Speaking with BBC Sport on Tuesday, Siasia said he was more concerned about his mother’s health.

“The police said it’s been difficult to track these kidnappers, but my great concern is that my mother is very sick,” he said.

“For someone who is unwell to be held against her will is not only callous but heartbreaking and sad.

“So I can only keep appealing to these guys to please let my mother go. I would like for the government or whoever is capable to help me bring my mother back.”

Police in Bayelsa have said that the constant change of location by the kidnappers was making rescue efforts difficult.

“What more can I do but plead for assistance from the government, police and my country that I served as a player and coach,” Siasia said.

“My mother is seriously sick and this bothers me a lot. I don’t know where or who to turn to at this point.

“I’ve not had a job for three years, battling with a Fifa ban appeal and to have my sick mother in the hands of kidnappers, I just feel extremely tired.”

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswll Akpabio has directed the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to complete on-going projects including the on-going headquarters building project before awarding contracts for new ones, Igbere TV reports.

Senator Akpabio gave the charge when in the company of the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Festus Keyamo they paid a working visit to the headquarters of the Commission in Port Harcourt on Friday.

During a meeting with the management and staff of the Commission, Senator Akpabio disclosed that the NDDC had more than 12,000 on-going projects across the nine states of the Niger Delta region which experienced funding challenges.

The Minister said it was not a coincidence that two Niger Delta sons were selected by President Muhammadu Buhari to superintend over the affairs of the Niger Delta but a conscious effort at ensuring effective development of the region especially in the areas of infrastructural and human capital development.

According to Senator Akpabio, “The creation of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs was a direct response to the series of agitations by people of the region flowing from the deep sense of exclusion, environmental degradation, lack of development, poverty and unemployment facing the region,” he said.

On its part he said the NDDC was a child of necessity which was established “with a mission of facilitating the rapid, even and sustainable development of the Niger Delta into a region that is economically prosperous, socially stable, ecologically regenerative and politically peaceful” and said the Commission has to adopt a new template to achieve this mission.

According to Senator Akpabio, “The Niger Delta Development Commission must adopt a well structured funds development regime whereby all funds that accrue to the Commission must be properly utilized in this new era of probity which President Muhammadu Buhari demands,” he said.

In her welcome address, the acting Managing Director, Dr Akwagaga Enyia said the Commission under her watch had embarked upon fiscal responsibility as required by the anti-corruption drive of the Buhari administration. She promised to expeditiously complete the on-going headquarters building project.

Senator Akpabio and Mr Keyamo who later inspected the on-going construction of the headquarters building of the Commission, charged the management to channel more funds into completing the building.

They also visited a failed portion of the East-West road and promised an intervention to alleviate the suffering of commuters.

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi recently said that the workers in the state civil service were being owed N57billion as arrears of unpaid salaries and emoluments from the previous administration led by Ayo Fayose.

The governor said this at a meeting he had with the civil servants as well as a cross-section of labour leaders at the Government House, Ado- Ekiti saying his administration is making frantic efforts to defray the backlogs which he said would be done in phases.

Fayemi claimed the trend was caused by irregular payments of salaries and pensions by the immediate past administration of Ayodele Fayose. He said the arrears covered outstanding salaries, pensions, promotion arrears, leave bonuses and other emoluments from 2014 till October 2018 when he assumed office.

Policemen attached to the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences have arrested 28 suspected miscreants and 15 illegal street traders at various locations around Afrika Shrine, Alausa, Ikeja.

Chairman of the taskforce, Olayinka Egbeyemi, disclosed this in a statement by the agency’s head of public affairs, Adebayo Taofiq, on Sunday.

Mr Egbeyemi said the raid was due to the nefarious acts within the vicinity of the Afrika Shrine which presented negative image to tourists and residents of Lagos.

“Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit, over the weekend, raided all streets within Central Business District including surroundings of the ‘African Shrine’, Alausa, Ikeja.

“The enforcement operations became imperative following complaints from members of the public about the criminal activities of miscreants and environmental nuisance of illegal street traders around the Shrine,” he said.

According to the chairman, the night operation was carried out around spots where drugs like Tramadol, Codeine, Skunk, marijuana, Illegal liquor and assorted food are sold, Igbere TV reports.

“These consumable and non-consumable items are freely sold on the streets in defiance of security agencies and government authority,” he said.

Egbeyemi maintained that the enforcement operations would be a continuous exercise in line with the vision of the present administration to rid the state of street urchins and criminals.

“The Lagos State Government has vowed to sustain the security onslaught on all areas identified as criminal hideouts and hard drug outlets across the state, especially within the metropolis,” he said.


One of those arrested, Tunde Babalola, who was allegedly caught with a bag of substance suspected to be Indian hemp, was said to have confessed he had been selling hard drugs for eight years.

Mr Babalola reportedly said he makes an average profit between N60,000 and N100,000 weekly from customers around Obalende, Akala, Mushin, Bariga and Ikeja.

Another trader, Abike Adeyemi, said that she pays N1,900 every week to a representative of Ikeja Local Government from the sale of addictive substances around the shrine.

Egbeyemi said that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, has directed that all those arrested be immediately prosecuted.

Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has charged leaders across the globe to work towards finding a common ground for more collaboration against the global threat of terrorism, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that Governor Ikpeazu who attended the Summit as part of the Nigerian delegation made this known while speaking to newsmen at the end of the Extraordinary Summit of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Terrorism held at Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso.

According to Mr. Ikpeazu; “The growing threats of terrorism can only be squarely tackled when leaders at all levels across the globe come together to fashion out a synergy against the scourge which stands as a potent threat to global peace.”

Governor Ikpeazu in his statement also called for a shift from a core geographic approach to what he described as a “geostrategic approach” in the war against terror, identifying issues like intelligence gathering and sharing, joint operations, good governance and a structured educational system of young persons as ways that can be adopted in the fight to end global terror, Igbere TV reports.

Speaking further, Governor Ikpeazu said that in Abia State, the strategy of his administration has been to intensify intelligence gathering as a potent approach in the fight against crimes, stating that as a state which is at the confluence of seven states, Abia must be interested in what happens in terms of security in states around her.

According to him, the rise in the incidence of kidnapping in the state some years ago was a spill over effect of the activities of militants in the neighboring states of the Niger Delta.

Ikpeazu noted that the sharp drop in criminal activities in Abia State in the last five years is attributable to the grace of God, coupled with deliberate steps by his administration to fight criminality to a standstill through equipping the security forces, strengthening community involvement in fighting crimes and the promotion of policies that mainstream youth economic empowerment through the development of small and medium enterprises.

Governor Ikpeazu announced the establishment of a Ministry of Homeland Security as a fallout of the decision of the Governors of the South East region at their meeting some weeks ago in Enugu to set up state based outfits that will strengthen internal security, assuring that a substantive Commissioner will be appointed to take charge of the new Ministry once the State Legislature approves the list of nominees sent to them, and assured that his administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that every inch of the Abia territory is well policed.

Following the call by the National and State Assembly Election Petition Panel sitting in Umuahia for supplementary election in some polling units in Abia North Senatorial District, artisans, traders and market women based in Arochukwu local government area of Abia state have stressed that Chief Mao Ohaubunwa of the People’s Democratic Party (Party) has no plan for his constituents, IGBERE TV reports.

According to the group’s coordinator, Mazi Henry Chibuike, the people of Arochukwu LGA, have no confidence in the candidacy of Ohuabunwa, who they described as a confused, selfish, clueless and frustrated politician.

Forest Guard: Enugu Adjudged Safest State in Nigeria

Despite the constitutional constraints some states such as Enugu have been creative about security through close synergy with the federal security agencies. Enugu has been adjudged by heads of various security agencies, like the police and the army, as one of the safest states. The governor highlighted how he goes about internal security and his plans to consolidate the gains in his second term inauguration speech last May.

“Investors and investments can only thrive in a secure and peaceful environment. We have, therefore, invested heavily in securing life and property. We have provided massive logistical support to the various security agencies. We also launched the Enugu State Security/Neighbourhood Watch Endowment Fund and inaugurated Neighbourhood Watch associations to operate in our communities, under the supervision of the federal security agencies, in keeping with our extant laws. The result of our efforts is that Enugu State is one of the most peaceful and secure states of the federation today.


“Security remains our utmost priority. We will continue to invest state energies and resources to improve security in Enugu State. The Neighbourhood Watch will remain an important component of the state’s security architecture. We will continue to vet, train, retrain, retool, and rejig them to boost their capacity and effectively address their local peculiarities,” he said.


In line with the determination to keep Enugu secure, Enugu State announced, after various security meetings with the security agencies and key stakeholders like council chairmen, traditional and religious leaders, town unions, introduced air surveillance, additional joint patrols of security services, and additional joint service checkpoints at strategic points. The state is currently strengthening the neighbourhood watch groups. Not only has their numbers been increased to 5,200, the governor introduced monthly stipends and additional training.

Forest Guards

However, the ongoing recruitment of 1,700 Forest Guards stands Enugu taller than other states in addressing security concerns in the country. This is in line with the resolution of the South-East Governors Forum to set up this layer of security body as well as a committee and a centre for South-East integrated security monitoring/intelligence gathering to be centrally located in Enugu.

Briefing newsmen after their July meeting, the forum’s chairman, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, said: “The forum has resolved to key into the Federal Government’s community policing programme and that forest guards would be established in each state and roads cleared up to 50 metres into the bush to have a clear view of roads ahead.”

The introduction of Forest Guards has received accolades across the nation. Many believe that their presence in the forests would help to reassure farmers of safety and make the forests inhabitable for criminals, who now prefer to operate from the forests. The good thing also is that they will be vetted and recruited by the Department of State Security (DSS) desk in each LGA. They will be trained and supervised by federal security agencies.

“The Forest Guards is a good example of thinking out of the box, which others should emulate. Unlike in other places where nothing changes after the wailing over killings, the governor of Enugu State has put in additional security measures. That is the only hope that things will change because you cannot keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result,” Dr. Amechi Anakwue, presenter of Political Platform, a programme on Raypower Radio, said recently.

Also applauding the move, president of the Enugu State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Alex Ogbonnia, commended the governor for introducing the Forest Guards, describing it as “novel in our clime.” He said it was an opportunity for the people of Enugu to safeguard Enugu territory.

“Now, there will be no hiding place for the criminal elements, who now use the cover of the bushes to perpetrate crimes. Also, the move will take 1,700 youth out of unemployment. This alone will naturally reduce crimes induced by unemployment,” he said.

The deputy minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Toby Okechukwu, has also thrown his weight behind the introduction of Forest Guards: “The ongoing recruitment of Forest Guards across the state as well as the manpower boost and monthly stipends for the Neighbourhood Watch will further enhance security in the state.”

The initiative has also been welcomed across political divides. In a statement by the chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, Hon. Adonys Igwe, and the secretary, Chief Cesar Mbaonu, the body said that it showed that the “governor is highly determined and committed to nipping in the bud the monstrous activities of these hoodlums, who are terrorising our people, especially in the rural communities.”

Meanwhile, information emanating from Tuesday’s meeting at Government House, Enugu, where the state director of the DSS briefed the governor, leadership of the House of Assembly, and 17 council chairmen, showed that 3,963 persons applied for the job, 2,646 were shortlisted and screened, 879 persons have been engaged, while the remaining 821 applicants will be screened and engaged in two weeks, to bring the total to 1,700 Forest Guards. Also, the state will procure 260 patrol vehicles and 260 motorcycles to be distributed to the 260 electoral wards in the state, in addition to communication gadgets for optimum performance.

As the Forest Guards come alive in Enugu, residents are upbeat that the initiative would help sustain Enugu’s place as one of the most peaceful and secure states in Nigeria. Many are also of the view that the success of the initiative in Enugu will encourage other states to follow suit.

The 28-year-old, in clips that circulated on social media, is seen returning the fan’s money used to purchase a ticket for the show, Igbere TV reports.

He also told security officials to escort the man out.

On Thursday, a fan made a joke about the incident eliciting a response from Burna Boy.

Burna recently dropped the video for ‘Gum Body’ featuring British singer, Jorja Smith.

Senate president Ahmad Lawan has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the victory at the presidential election petition tribunal.

The tribunal on Wednesday dismissed the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in its entirety, Igbere TV reports.

Lawan said, “The judgment of the tribunal has again put a judicial seal on the mandate freely given to the president by the Nigerian people in the February 23 presidential election.”

He urged President Buhari to accept the affirmation of his election as a reminder of the confidence of Nigerians in his capacity to continue to lead Nigeria towards its manifest destiny of greatness.

The Senate president said the Nigerian people have great expectations from the Next Level Agenda of the president and further pledged the full cooperation of the National Assembly with the executive in the pursuit of the best interest of the Nigerian people.

Police and members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) have clashed in Bauchi during the Ashura procession on Tuesday.

The incident was said to have occurred at the Central Market Roundabout and Tashan Babiye area of Bauchi, the state capital.

Reports say the police fired teargas and shots to disperse the Shiites.

It is also alleged that several members of the group were arrested.

The procession went without violence in Abuja as men, women, and children, marched from Berger Roundabout to Wuse.

In Kaduna, the group accused the police of killing three of its members.

The Day of Ashura is marked as the tenth day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar.

It is observed annually by Shiite Muslims worldwide to commemorate the death of Husayn ibn Ali in the Battle of Karbala in Iraq.

Husayn, known as the third Shia Imam, was the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and son of Ali ibn Abi Talib, the first Shia Imam.

Husayn was said to have died during the Battle of Karbala on October 10, 680 between his army and the army of the second Umayyad caliph Yazid I.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike, has said he has nothing against Islam or any faith amidst storm over the reported demolition of Trans-Amadi Central Mosque in Port Harcourt.

Wike said this on Sunday while showing the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, the site of the mosque he was accused of demolishing, Igbere TV reports.

Fayemi, according to a statement by his spokesman, Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo, was in Port Harcourt to verify the true situation of the matter.

Wike claimed that the site where the mosque was reportedly located was a sewage dump area.

He said: “I have nothing against Islam or any faith for that matter. As you can see there was never a mosque on this ground instead it is a sewage site which has been in contention between the state government and some groups because they want to develop on prohibited land.”

Wike appreciated Fayemi, who was accompanied by the Director-General of the forum, Asishana Okauru, for visiting to verify the truth about the situation.

He also commended Fayemi’s leadership style which he described as exemplary, noting that he did not join those who rushed to judgement on the matter.

Wike said: “Those who yelled about the demolition were being plain mischievous. There was nothing there to show that a mosque ever existed on the site.”

Justice Nkeonye Maha, of the Federal High Court on Friday berated the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the illegal detention of one Mr Sunday Agu, a tricyclist in Abuja.

Agu had on Aug. 29 dragged Mr Abdullahi Gana, Commandant General, NSCDC, before the Federal High Court, Abuja over alleged illegal detention.

Also joined in the suit are three officers of the Corps; Abdulmajeed Imam, Agili Chinedu and Yebage Adamu who are 1st, 2nd and 3rd respondents respectively, Igbere TV reports.

While the NSCDC Niger State Command, Commandant is the 4th respondent, Gana, NSCDC, Christy Ojide, and Alex Ojide are 5th, 6th,7th and 8th respondents respectively.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Ifeanyi Igwe had told Justice Maha, that the matter was brought in pursuant to section 35 (1) to (6), 34(1), 37, 41, 44, and 46(1) of the 1999 constitution, Articles 4,5,6,12(1) and 14 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights.

Igwe told the judge that since the applicant was detained on July 16, he had been in the Corps’ detention at David Mark Road, NSCDC Headquarter, Minna, for no justification.

According to him, his client was accused and detained by the NSCDC for allegedly standing in as a guarantor to a hire purchase agreement between one Mr Chibuike Agu (hirer) a tricyclist and Mrs Christy Ojide (owner).

Justice Maha had on Aug. 29 ordered the release of Agu from NSCDC detention if not arraigned within three days and adjourned the case until Sept. 6.

She said that the NSCDC was not at liberty to bring a charge against a person under the Advance Free Fraud Act which is under the jurisdiction of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

She warned that if such conduct continued, the Corps would let law breakers go free.

It was also reports that the Judge invited the NSCDC counsel, Mr Imam and Counsel to Agu , Mr Ifeanyi Igwe on Sept. 13. to balance justice between the applicant and defendant.

She however granted Agu bail on the terms of providing a surety with the sum of at least N500,000 in his bank account, alongside a landed property in Abuja.

She added that he should afterwards depose to an affidavit verifying the terms of compliance.

Counsel to NSCDC, Imam told newsmen that In view of NSCDC Act I, the corps is empowered to prosecute on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

“By the charge, the accused person is being charged by the name of the AGF in line with section 3 of the NSCDC Act, the Act empowers the corps to prosecute on behalf of the AGF.

“NSCDC is a special prosecutor under the AGF, section 3 (1), paragraph H; the Corps shall have power to prosecute, criminal activities aimed at depriving people of their properties.

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has denied attending the World Economic Forum in South Africa in the face of xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in the country.

Nigerians had reacted with criticism towards photographs of Fayemi with Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, alleging that they were at the forum which is ongoing in Cape Town.

The Federal Government had announced that it was boycotting the WEF in protest against the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, Igbere TV reports.

However, Fayemi, in a statement on Thursday by his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Kanmi Olatoye, said he was at another event in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

He said: “Contrary to some misleading online reports, Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, was not at the World Economic Forum in South Africa.

“Rather, the governor is in South Africa to honour an invitation by a long-time friend and one of Nigeria’s most celebrated journalists, Mr Dele Olojode, at Africa in the World Festival of Ideas, which held in Stellenbosch, a university town in South Africa’s Western Cape province.”

He added that, “More importantly, the event already held before the decision of the Federal Government to boycott the WEF programme.”

Jermaine Sanwo-Olu, Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora and Foreign Relations to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reportedly become the first government official from Nigeria to visit El Salvador.

El Salvador is the smallest and the most densely populated country in Central America. As of 2016, the country had a population of approximately 6.34 million, Igbere TV reports.

In a tweet on Thursday, Mr Sanwo-Olu, a cousin to the governor of Lagos, said it was ‘a great honour’ to be recognised as the first government official from Nigeria to ever visit El Salvador.

He was in El Salvador for the Afro Descendientes Events and Festival.

“It was a great honour to be recognized as the first Government official from Nigeria to ever visit El Salvador. Being part of the Afro Descendientes events & festival in San Salvador & Zacatecoluca, El Salvador is something I will cherish all my life,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Report reaching Igbere TV newsdesk says the Enugu State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi summoned an emergency security meeting with the people of Agbogugu in Awgu Local Government Area, on Wednesday in the state.

This, followed an earlier report by Igbere TV that some youth in the Enugu called on the state governor and President Buhari to declare a state of emergency in Awgu Community over what they termed “security sabotage”.

Igbere TV reports there call for action by the youths came following the increase in criminal activities, kidnappings and killings in the Awgu Local Government Area of the state.

According to the youths, the criminal activities being carried out are being sponsored by enemies who are out to distract the government and put the in bad light.
