HealthRe: Weight Watchers - Countdown To Christmas! by drkay(m):
My weight loss journey started in May 2025. I went from 130kg to 84kg.
I’m now in plateau, planning to build muscle mass with substitution. Replacing my fats with muscle while maintaining my weight.
Losing such a significant weight comes with loads of discipline and lifestyle changes.
1) Initial phase; Calorie deficit with the help of Mounjaro. I was on the highest dose as at the time I stopped 2 months ago. It helped me to take total control of my diet. I’m a foodie and I’ve been obese all my adult life. My weight exploded immediately I left Nigeria 9yrs ago.
2) Plateau Phase; After losing about 30kg, cutting diet was no longer sufficient to keep me going so I subscribed to the gym . I also cycle to work. If I don’t cycle to work, I park 2 km away from my work and walk to and from work to my car.
3) 3rd phase; The above interventions got me back on track. I dropped additional 20kg. I stopped monjaro.
4) Maintenance phase; pressure from my Wife and parents became overwhelming and I had to put a stop to further wt loss.
I’m now weighing around 84kg +/- 2kg.

Pro; Healthier, smarter, Now travel more than before and I think it has helped my mental health overtime.
Cons: loose skin around my belly, uglier(no be say I be fine man before), people’s perception( even within my own extended family. I had to reassure them that baba still de😊).
Finally cost; it cost me some money. Mounjaro cost me around £300 monthly and my special diet also cost few extra quids than regular diets.

I’m trying to wondering if someone does some sort of small computer/ word / design jobs here.
I’m trying to design a fishbone chart and draw a small forcefield analysis while typing my small 4-page project and I couldn’t figure it out. Whoever can do it will be paid accordingly.
BusinessRe: Nigerian Fashion Designers — How Do You Reach Customers Abroad? by drkay(m): 6:44pm On May 17
Wonder2501:
Let me be honest with you all.

I have seen so many talented Nigerian
designers on this forum and on Instagram
whose work is absolutely world class.

But somehow a woman in Houston
or London who desperately wants
authentic Nigerian fashion
still cannot find them.

How does that make sense? 😩

The talent is here.
The customers are there.
But the distance, the payment wahala,
the shipping stress always wins.

For designers who have tried
getting international clients —
how did you do it?
What worked? What nearly killed you? 😅

And for those who haven't tried —
what is the biggest thing
holding you back?

Because I genuinely believe Nigerian
designers deserve a global audience.
I buy on Etsy. I agree, there are many talented Nigerians out there. One major problem with the Nigerian folks is delay n getting your dress delivered. I do patronize the Ghanaian folks more, as they seem to work out their logistics better.

Cardiac arrest. It rarely gives you enough time to intervene. Every seconds matters a lot, even with the best hands, in an ideal hospital setting.
RIP to her. May the Lord comfort her dearest family, especially, her lovely daughter, who’ll live with this awful memory for years.

@ the first bolded ..... is this really true? they system as returned more helpers into poverty than it has raised out of poverty. We have so many stories of regrets of helpers who were so pre-occupied with trying to lift others up while they finally drown in the sea of poverty themselves.
Definitely, there are regrets and many sad stories out there. However, it’s still a viable way of helping people out of poverty when done with good strategies.
I have personally helped many of my family members, Some are doing great and some have repeatedly failed to make good use of the resources. I have given up on them and they know it. I rarely give them my money.
The most important thing is to know when to hold on or stop.
I still pay my parents their monthly allowance and I am happy to continue to pay them. Everybody’s stories differ.
They had none of the opportunities they gave me.
FamilyRe: Black Tax: Africa’s Silent Killer Of Dreams by drkay(m): 12:48pm On Oct 05, 2025
This is the story of many hardworking young and middle age adults from low and middle class families.
It’s so much entrenched into our culture and societal norms that we need to lend a helping hand to in the family, who’s not doing so well.
Sometimes, it’s a thing of joy that we’re able to help our brothers and sisters, pulling ourselves out of poverty. But this soon becomes very tiring and difficult to sustain.
It’s one of the few things that I gave up on. Parents are weak and can really play a very bad role when it comes to this, making things more difficult. Anyways. We do what we can do and leave what we can’t.

May God bless them for reaching out to the unreached. To those who don’t know what humanity is, this is it. Giving out of pure love and kindness.
Stop thinking that they are doing it for personal gains. Even if they are doing it for personal gains, at least they are promoting the art of giving.
I have been doing something similar lowkey for over 10 years. Fully self funded. About 9years ago, I offered free surgical services to some people on this Forum at my then Hospital in Ota, Ogun state. I had attendees from Kogi, Oyo and Lagos.
Not all givers do things for show offs or to seek personal gains. I had to even register my NGO with the CAC some years ago due to the frustrations that I faced when organizing my programs in my own community, because I didn’t allow Some politicians to hijack it for political purposes. They were practically thinking that I was being bankrolled by some imaginary oppositions or international organizations. I live abroad and I practically organize my thing during my visits.
In 2022, I was not financially buoyant and was going to cancel my visit that year but I eventually sold my gold jewelry to cover my flight ticket and procure medicines.
It is Kindness and to me, this is the whole essence of humanity.

They should celebrate in whatever way they want to. I wish them God’s guidance on the journey ahead. Secondary school is very interesting. I haven’t set my eye on most of my high sch. colleagues since we departed 24 years ago, and the truth is that I will never get to see some of them them again as they are dead now.

TravelRe: Japa: Tinubu Approves Policy To Retain Medical Experts Within Nigeria by drkay(m):
Same single story. They should trace the root cause of the massive exodus of healthcare professionals and address them first.
These are the people we call “A fe a je ma fe a yo” in Yorubaland. Enemies of progress.
Where were these politicians when Adewole and Ingige were saying all sort of things. Ingige literally said that Nigeria has enough doctors to look after them.
Healthcare has always been underfunded because it will take a huge resources to achieve a good healthcare system in Nigeria and these criminals we have in govt won’t do it.
And I wonder what he meant by re-integration. Into which system? Recently, I visited a state hospital where I worked for over 5 years before I left. I felt sorry for the doctors because nothing has changed since 2017.
My sister and her hubby were earning a combined salary of 130k naira as nurses back in 2020. They were essentially living from hand to mouth back in Nigeria. They’re now living their best lives in the UK. She was just laughing after reading these thing.

EducationRe: A Private School Teacher Got Sacked Because Of This..(photo) by drkay(m): 12:31am On Jul 14, 2024
youngsum:
Good morning dear Nairalanders

Last year three of us were employed in a private school earning 25k a month, which I hardly managed. Considering the increase of price of goods and services, last week we decided to write a letter demanding for pay review.

As a result of this, the school administrator terminate our appointment and refuse to pay us our June salary uptill now. Can you imagine the wickedness happening in this world even in this hard times which I hardly eat twice a day but this happened to me, I don't know where to go now in fact this life tire me I swear.

Please i need advice on how to handle this issue with the school. Is it a crime to ask employer for pay rise? Can we take him to court for breach of contract?
It’s not an offense to ask for a pay rise the management can either agree or say no. And in case they want to terminate you, they should have done it the right way and they are supposed to pay you all that is due to you. They’re exploiting the lawless system in Nigeria.
I currently have 2 teachers teaching my little ones online. They do about 6 hours weekly and I pay 50k monthly each.
Lemme know if you can do this, and if you can teach early years.

I am somewhat reluctant to offer these sort of advice on a public space as many people will come across it and this may be counterproductive. Just be rest assured that this event that you’re worried about is nothing to be worried about.
HealthRe: I'm Scared After Having Sex With This Girl by drkay(m): 8:56pm On Jun 15, 2024
What are you worried about? HIV? The chances that you will be infected with the hiv virus is very very low in this situation.
Hepatitis b? Also very low.
Other STDs? Can’t tell.
There’s no need to worry about anything. You can visit the nearest hospital for advice.

PoliticsRe: 24 Hours To Strike: Labour Talks Tough, FG Begs by drkay(m): 8:37am On Jun 02, 2024
The labour leaders need to be realistic. They’re negotiating based on the minimum wage that very minimum percentage of the workforce are getting. An increment of 30k will significantly impact on their earnings, many will get nothing less than 400-500k more than their current salaries.
Maybe the FG should propose a consolidated salary increase then….minimum wage of 200k, the ogas that are already on 500k and above can get a moderate raise of like 500k, making 1m take home.
The fg also needs to give the reasons for making this 60k offer. They need to give the breakdown, like; what’ll be the take home for those on minimum wage, what percentage of Fg workforce are on minimum wages. What will this increment mean for those on top of the ladder. What’ll a teachers between level 8-14 be getting? How much will this impact governments spending? Can the state government afford it? Will the employers in the private sectors be able to pay? Will there be any support from the government? Are we now going to kukuma ignore them and face the FG hoping that others will follow suit?
Anyway, Naija is in a big mess. We need a dedicated government to rescue that country. I don’t think that is achievable with any politician.

Cooking, her advice and encouragements when things go rough.
Why we didn’t get married was because of my circumstances at a time she was ready. She had a suitor who was mounting pressure on her from different angles. She got confused and I was in a position to tell her what to do. I almost failed my part 3 MB that year but I survived.
We are both happily married and doing well in our own right.

This is as a result of abuse of privilege by Nigerians in UAE ranging from Cult killing to fraud........ it's a good measure coz UAE cannot sit down and allow some bad elements to destroy what they build.
I was in that country for over 5 years. Nigerians did so badly that every dark skinned man with antisocial behavior would be tagged as a Nigerian until proven otherwise.

Dubai visa wey you go apply today and get the visa within 24 hours

How time fly
Nigerians in uae really showed them shege

I guess they are wiser now
Nigerians showed them more than shege o.
I’m a witness to what Nigerians did to them back then.
There were many incidents of criminal activities perpetrated by other nationalities but Nigerians did their own and also make noises about it.

Nigerians did what other nationals did not even understood and would not do.
Broad day robberies, cultism, killings(worst), the prostitution was common among every nationalities but Nigerians did many unthinkable crimes using prostitutions; Orosko, pit, abductions. Heard an incident where they set up a local Emirati, harassed him and took his 22k dirham in Alain.
Among many others.
I knew they would do something about it but I didn’t imagined that the door would be shut for this long. It’s been 2yrs now.

Professor Wole Soyinka, a Yoruba scholar and freedom activist was in jail for over 22 months for supporting Biafra agitation. Today, a certain movement is trying so hard to dent prof’s reputation because he didn’t take side with them on a single issue.
